Several factors are behind the exodus of pilots, officials said, including a surge in demand for better-paying commercial pilots, the stresses of deployments and reassignments to fly combat drones, the remote-controlled technology that has reshaped modern warfare.
Amazing how they overlook the 2,000 pound Obama gorilla on the couch.

In the wake of the verdict in the Trayvon Martin shooting, several teachers said they would invoke mob justice, vigilantism and the idea that Florida law allows people to hunt and kill black kids when discussing the case with their students.
I suspect that these teachers know nothing about the case, I also suspect that the most radical comments were made by the same ethnic groups that marched around with the stupid signs.
Once again I say it is high time States revised their constitutions and eliminated the corrupt public school system.

To ensure that “every American is able to choose to live in a community they feel proud of,” HUD has published a new fair-housing regulation intended to give people access to better neighborhoods than the ones they currently live in.
I don't think that there is any legislation that gives them the authority to do this. Clearly another organization that needs to be defunded.

Sure there will be a few 'bumps in the road', and as long as you are not one of the speed bumps then no harm, right?
Sure, some will lose their employer subsidized health care but they may well qualify for a government subsidy and it will probably still cost more and cover less.
Sure, some will have their full time employment reduced to part time, and sure
some health insurers will fail, or leave the market, and sure there will be a few a few who will lose their employment all together.
And it will be a gradual process. It took DETROIT! sixty years to get to where it is today, so the US might will take that long or longer before it mimics Zimbabwe, so we have plenty of time to fine tune the programs.

BTW, I looked for some sign that Enzi had "accepted" the McShitty endorsement and I could find none. He probably has via private phone conversation and realizes that a public announcement will hurt him.

Morning, ‘rons and ‘ronettes. Thanks for the daily briefing, Gabe and Vic.
During the silent era, the two biggest stars were Charlie Chaplin and Mary Pickford. Outwardly a shy, sweet girl, the former Gladys Smith was a hardheaded businesswoman who negotiated her way through the minefields of studios, directors and producers to become a multimillionaire and such a box-office draw that when she refused to renew her contract with Famous Players, studio head Adolph Zukor offered her $250,000 to quit the movies.
Immensely popular for her portrayals of children, teenage hoydens or feisty young women, Pickford was trapped by her image. She was, by the coming of sound, too old to continue playing the roles her fans loved, but her attempts to reshape her look to match the sleek, elegant 1930s heroine were a failure. Fans simply did not want “Little Mary” to grow up. She retired from acting in 1933, but continued to produce through United Artists until selling her shares in 1956.
Unfortunately, after retirement, her family history of alcoholism caught up with her and she gradually became a recluse, hiding in the bedroom of “Pickfair,” the elegant mansion where she and second husband Douglas Fairbanks once ruled as Hollywood royalty.* She only let certain close friends visit, once saying, “I never want my fans to see me grow old.”
In time, she simply stopped seeing anyone. The English writer Charles Higham once tried to interview Pickford in 1969. He made an appointment, showed up at Pickfair at the appropriate time and was ushered into a cavernous living room.
Sitting down, he was startled when the telephone next to his chair began ringing. He waited for someone in the vast, gloomy house to answer, but no one did. At last, he hesitantly picked up the receiver.
“Welcome to Pickfair,” said a small, slightly woozy voice. “Look to your left. You see that table with the lamp on it? There’s an ivory-colored book on the table. Why don’t you pick it up and bring it over to the phone. Now turn to page 21.”
Higham leafed through the book, which had pictures of all the celebrities who had once visited the house. At page 21, he found a portrait of Lord and Lady Mountbatten.
The voice began again. “You see, Lord and Lady Mountbatten stayed with us. They were so charming. Being British, I thought you’d appreciate it. It’s been nice talking to you. Goodbye.”
Then Mary Pickford, in her lonely bed somewhere far up in the mansion, hung up the phone.
“Nice to have had you,” the butler said as he showed Higham out. “Come again.”
Hope you all have a wonderful day.
*Originally a hunting lodge, Pickfair (a combination of Pickford and Fairbanks’ names) was a 56-acre estate located at 1143 Summit Drive in Beverly Hills. Extensively remodeled, it eventually became a four-story twenty-five room mansion in mock-Tudor style. Bought by Israeli businessman Meshulam Rikis as a gift for his wife, perennial “starlet” Pia Zadora, the house was completely demolished in 1990, Zadora explaining that it was in poor shape and infested with termites (in 2012, Zadora would claim that they really had Pickfair torn down because it was haunted).

When we get out of the Republican-uber-alles mindset and start focusing on President Historic First's© felonious and treasonous regime and how the Poppin' Fresh/NRO/McConnell/Boner wing of the Republican party have enabled them, we might be able to take steps to undo some of their damage.

If you search for 'Australian asylum seekers' you discover there is a wave of immigrants trying to reach that fair country which has suddenly closed the door to the flood and a large number of people are suddenly without a country.
Circling back to the white flight from DETROIT!, and California and the dismay of those areas being flooded with refugees fleeing liberalism there is some credence to the thought that rather than accepting a flood of refugees it should be made clear to them that they should stay home and fight rather than running away, for the very simple reason that places that would normally provide sanctuary are being flooded.

I just looked at the Google Map of that address that MP4 posted. Nothing but gated housing with huge walls and concealing shrubbery there. In fact, the house that is currently at that address is bigger than most of the hotels we have here.

I especially love this from that HUD article:
“HUD will provide data for every neighborhood in the country, detailing the access African American, Latino, Asian, and other communities have to local assets, including schools, jobs, transportation, and other important neighborhood resources that can play a role in helping people move into the middle class.”
So, you MOVE into the middle class by changing your address? How about getting a fucking job first, assholes? Oh wait.. that's unnecessary as Ogabe will renegotiate tax credits to "even out" the classes.

There are some unincorporated areas out here where the houses couldn't have been much more than 800 sq ft, but during the height of the bubble probably sold for $200k plus. We saw a lot of Latino families move in, but then were gone.

Last night there was debate over "let it burn". And I have this general understanding of the current national situation:
Serious reform is needed in this nation in how political business is conducted, and the longer it is put off the more likely it will require major political strife and possible civil unrest/breakup of the Union. In this respect, the situation is much like the feelings about the GOP six years ago. Then, there were still "homers". Not so much anymore. The same arc is going to apply to the "whither the nation" question. The more people delay reaching the point they are inevitably going to reach the potentially greater the price to be paid for victory.
Let myself be clear--the survival of the thing called the "United States" is not the preeminent goal. The survival of what is best about America is. We may reach a point where both goals can no longer be accomplished.
Some people need to understand the following--folks are paying personal prices *right* now for daring to defy the established order. Don't expect, if they somehow win, much influence if you wait forever to make your mind up--or worse, sit forever making snide remarks on the sidelines because you can't follow, and can't get out of the way. Because my guess is those people paying the personal price did not want to. G. Zimmerman is just the latest example, but there are others.
What you need to take away is that whether you wanted it or not, you will "meanly lose or nobly save." So start thinking hard. Now, if you'll excuse me, I have to go eat "Ramen noodles", because it is all I got. For the record, I will get out of the way, but I'm not following.

Dude put a minimum of $40k into fixing all that with all the workmen and materials I saw moving in and out...and it only sold for $85k when he was done.

One of about ten black families in our sub-division of almost two thousand homes.
And tonight there is a community meting with the police to discuss the events that took place that night. And we can already hear the rumblings about "those people" bringing problems into our little world.
Most of these rumblings are coming from neighbors whose cars bear "Obama 12 " and "Keep your Mitts off my uterus" stickers.
I wish they would just go ahead and put "I love black people, just not in my neighborhood" stickers on their bumpers next to their coexist stickers.

.
.Quick answer is, yes they did. Long answer is they are going to try an end run around the Federal Bankruptcy courts by trying to get any deal ruled Unconstitutional under Michigan's laws. It is a long shot, but it will tie up the State Courts for years if it goes through.

Yep.. my son-in-law was a flipper, but he did the renovations himself. He also hired himself out to other investors and made a pretty good living during the bubble.
He told me the foreign investors were the worst.. cheap SOB's that wanted to put the least amount of money in and flip it the quickest. Generally, he would rip out all the carpets, gut the kitchens and paint every room. He wouldn't touch structural issues.

I loved Obama's statement that law enforcement is at the state and local level. I guess he means unless it interferes with his open borders plan in which case, the state better not enforce the law or the DOJ will hunt them down.

Ya, three judge panel, then appeal, and 'en banc' all of'm blocked the ordinance.
The point being, well, let me say it like this. Say there is a federal law against robbing banks, far fetched I know, just work with me here. Federal government refuses to enforce the law against robbing banks, so local cities try to pass a law saying known back robbers can't live in the city. So the bank robbers sue and the federal courts tell the city that the city can't enact laws because the feds already have a law that is being ignored.
Does that make any sense? I am not a lawyer, nor do I claim to be one.

As long as the courts are political the perpetual aggrieved army will always be able to go judge shopping to find one or more who will rule in their favor.
There are two possible fixes, one which is legal is an Art V convention to restrain the power of the courts and balance them out for political leaning. The other is illegal and it would involve shooting a judge every time they make an extremely bad ruling.
After a few judges are gone the rest will get the message. You don't notice too many of the MFM going after the Muzzies do you?

and it gets better from there. One would think there would be a reaction from the atheists, but apparently environmental policy trumps.

Big ole Grateful Dead hippie what ran a head shop, total BDS rabid socialist what believed in Auras and Crystals and assorted weirdness. I used to hang out there when I got bored and we'd talk up all that shit - I'm widely read and not particular, so I know about those but laugh at it and fucked with his head about it all - and he was open-minded enough to argue about the BDS and socialism though he couldn't give it up. Blacks have not been relegated to these areas. It is a known fact that people congregate with like people. The cities are more segregated now that they were when the CRA of 1964 was passed and it is by choice.
What happens is the controlling political Party likes to gerrymander the district lines to insure their Party gets elected. Here in SC we have a black majority district for Clyburn to stay in office. IIANM it was gerrymandered by court order. But since then the Supremes have ruled that gerrymandering to achieve a minority majority district is unconstitutional, but nobody has done anything about the Clyburn district.
However the recent development with the VRA may provide some relief. The Dems here have been able to lock up redistricting by taking it to the courts every time so maybe they will not be able to do that next go around.

If William is 100 percent Royal, and Kate is 0 percent Royal, will that make your son a half-blood Prince?
More like a symbol.

Hey, I have an idea. I've noticed that many successful people have butlers. So if we just give all the poor people butlers, voila...
No Butlers, No Peace!!

now I know the secret to getting your comments read.
bla, bla bla bla bla, bla, bla bla no panties.
oh and boobs
Posted by: spypeach at July 23, 2013 09:10 AM (0n1+D)
Well, there's more to it than that. If your name's "spypeach" or "Alex the Chick," or another feminine or could be name, then yes, panties is the magic word. If your nic is "Ol' Masturbatin' Pete," however, then. . .well, it would be just disturbing.

Traditional politics, especially when it comes to moving the opinion of many in the populace, is about money. It requires breathtaking stupidity, that the House Speaker, who sole constitutional power is that of "the purse" does not realize this or attempt in any meaningful way to defund Obamacare. We receive one excuse after another as to why it is not being done. But above all else the reason is politics, and it's a game he is not very adept at playing.
Given the current strategy and political demeanor, after January 1st we will be stuck with Obamacare forever. In the coming years, it will destroy the quality of our healthcare, raise costs, provide less services, remove choice and become a restrictive behemoth that will continue to steal our freedom and independence over time.
For that, I don't blame Obama as much as I blame people like Boehner and McConnell, who in clear view of the disastrous affects, assault on our liberty and a pressing need for leadership to defend us instead demurred, played politics and left us out to dry in the wind of oppressive change.
Damn them and their weak, cowardly backroom dealings and two-faced articulations when what the people of this country needed was strong leadership.
You want to know why 22% of people approve of Republicans? Boehner and McConnell ought to look in that fun-house mirror that is contorting their reflections to something they believe is deceptively honorable. It's not and all an illusion.
