— Gabriel Malor Happy Friday.
White Castle tells HuffPo it's looking at hiring only part-time workers because of Obamacare. Kal Penn, please pick up the nearest white courtesy phone.
I think Rep. Steve King's intention is that the GOP never win another national election again ever. It's the only explanation. And why would he care anyway that he's making it harder for his colleagues to get elected? He's in a safe seat.
Someone vandalized the Lincoln Memorial. C'mon, stupid world, do better.
Gov. Christie stakes out some hawkish territory for 2016.
And, what my iPod is currently serving up:
Have a great weekend.

Robert Morris was convicted of violating United States Code: Title 18 (18 U.S.C. § 1030), the Computer Fraud and Abuse Act. and in December, 1990, was sentenced to three years of probation, 400 hours of community service, a fine of $10,050, and the costs of his supervision. His appeal was rejected the following March.
IOW, they tapped his wrist lightly and said don't do it again.

California lawmakers are pushing a controversial, first-in-the-nation plan that would require private-sector employers to remove 3 percent from every worker's paycheck. The money would go into a new state fund with a guarantee that all withheld funds plus investment gains will be available for distribution at retirement age.
Yes CA will take that money and pay you back, we gurandamntee it as the guy said on Honeysuckle Rose. Note that it is not going into a bank, but a government "fund" (mostly likely known as general revenues). Except that what happens if CA goes belly up as they are likely to do? All guarantees are out the window. And what does this plan sound like Morons? If you said SS ponzi scheme you would be absolutely correct. And no, it is not the "first in the nation plan".

And here is another rub:
Kellers and others call such a memorial "inclusive," while the Wisconsin-based Freedom From Religion Foundation (FFRF) claims the memorial is discriminatory and has no place on government grounds.
WTF business is it of an asshole group from WI what people in OH do on their statehouse grounds?

What is this "tax break" they speak of? Why it's advertising expenses, which are legitimate business expenses, you deduct to determine your profit. Do these liberal assholes every call it a tax break when some liberal business deducts them? Of course not. Then it is a legitimate business expense.

AP is full of shit but everyone already knew that. The Muzzies were virtually nonexistent in this nation until the 60s when we opened the flood gates to third world shitholes via a Ted The Swimmer Immigration fiasco.

Ah, yes, more of that "Hispanics are natural conservatives" and "we can't offend the moderates" bullshit. Care to explain exactly where King is wrong, Gabe? Because we sure as hell aren't seeing the Yale graduating class of 2017 streaming over the Rio Grande.
And what really pisses me off is that drunken blowhard Boner. The dog-eating cokehead calls the IRS and Benghazi "phony scandals" and all he does is fart and light up another Pall Mall. Juan McShitStain stabs conservatives in the back by blowing Barky and Boner works on his short game. But let King say one thing - which, in essence, is the truth - and the weepy fuck can't run to a microphone fast enough to read him out of the party. Meanwhile, Filthy Filner is, for all intents and purposes a rapist, and what do you hear from Nancy Pelosi? Nothing - her mouth is shut tighter than her dessicated old snatch.
Keep flapping your jaws, Boner. And keep whistling past the graveyard, Gabe. 2014 will be a smack in the head with a 2x4.

Now, with that out of the way. . .
Morning, ‘rons and ‘ronettes. I haven’t had a chance yet to find a Leslie Caron story. But today, here are a few odds and ends that don’t really fit anywhere else:
First, the producer David O. Selznick, best known for 1939s Gone With the Wind. For a time, he specialized in movies such as David Copperfield and A Tale of Two Cities, both books he had adored as a boy. But after those two, word got out that he was considering adapting Little Lord Fauntleroy to the screen. The book, by popular Victorian author Frances Hodgson Burnett, is about a little American boy who becomes an English lord with long curls and a velvet suit. Immediately, screenwriter Ben Hecht sent Zanuck a telegram: The trouble with you, David, is that you did all your reading before you were twelve.
In 1944, Darryl Zanuck premiered Wilson, his ambitious story about the WWI president, in Omaha. The first night, the theater was packed, but when the next showing rolled around, the house was practically empty. Zanuck, who’d been present the first night, was puzzled, but a local doctor gave him the straight dope – “Why should they pay seventy-five cents to see Wilson on the screen,” he snorted, “when they wouldn’t pay ten cents to see him alive?”
Now, an Olivier story: during the filming of Henry V, the actor taught his horse to gallop at the end of his Saint Crispin’s Day speech. “The horse seemed to know the lines as well as I did,” he recalled, “and would prick up his ears every time I got to ‘Saint George.’” When the movie was finished, Olivier was given the horse as a gift. One day Noël Coward came to visit and Olivier picked him up at the station in a trap pulled by the same horse. When Coward complained that they were moving too slow, Olivier smiled. “Want more speed, do you?” He leaned towards the horse and began: “Once more into the breach - ” To Coward’s astonishment, the horse galloped all the way home.
Any fan of the Pink Panther movies knows the name of Herbert Lom, the actor playing Clouseau’s boss, Chief Inspector Dreyfus. In 1956, the actor, cast as Napoleon, was in Italy, filming War and Peace. One day, the first assistant director came to him and said, “Could you spare twenty minutes, Mr. Lom?” He pointed to a line of extras, all dressed in Napoleonic uniform. “These men would like to meet Napoleon.”
“You’re joking!” Lom cried. “No, no,” the director told him. “They’re all officers. They want to meet you and shake your hand.” So Lom stood there in disbelief as the extras filed by one by one and solemnly shook hands with him. “They were clicking their heels,” the actor recalled, “and with great respect they all shook hands with Napoleon!”
But let’s leave the last word to the great director King Vidor, who was directing War and Peace. When Henry Fonda, playing Count Pierre Bezukhov, complained about one of the lines in the script – “I can’t say that. It doesn’t feel real,” Vidor gently corrected him: “Of course it isn’t real. It’s a movie!”
Hope you all have a wonderful weekend. See you on Monday.

The proper way to get the point across is to point out that while there are many admirable and hard working Hispanic students, there are also many minors being used as drug mules, probably as a result of believing that the minors will get amnesty, making it easier to recruit them.

@110: "I'd suggest King should just keep citing the many, many cases like that, but the MFM would still call him racist."
The fact that King is a racist, along with everyone else in the republican party, isn't in question any more.
Our Speaker of the House, the head republican in the country, confirmed it on camera the other day.
It would be so wrong for a party comprised and led by people so fucking stupid as this to ever win another election. We need to disband the "republicans" and form a new party with some modicum of intellegence.
The first rule of the new party will be that members spend 99% of their time attacking the other party, instead of their own.

Does anyone in the GOP ever think to talk about the actual real impact all of this will have on American families? What are we going to get out of this? Imported crime, gangs and drugs, an imported welfare state that will finally break the nation? I'd first have to assume anyone on our side actually wants to prevent all that from happening. Since it's not the case, they need to shut King up. We've reached a point in America where pointing out hard truths is a big PC no-no.

I think they're mild. You think they're mild. But it's my guess that Hispanic citizens have heard nothing but "Hispanics....cantaloupes.....GOP". IOW, that we think all Hispanics are nothing but ignorant, illegal fruitpickers (oh, and drug mules). They think that, at least a bit, because that's all they'll hear from the media, and the Dems will absolutely love it.

The cantaloupe statement had zero to do with fruit picking. What he was alluding too was these kids were building up large muscles in their legs from hauling drugs.
"For everyone who's a valedictorian, there's another 100 out there who weigh 130 pounds — and they’ve got calves the size of cantaloupes because they're hauling 75 pounds of marijuana across the desert,” King added in the Newsmax interview. “Those people would be legalized with the same act."

Of course, if you listen to Steve Sailor, Steve King's route is the ONLY way the GOP will ever win a national election ever again.
So I guess it all comes down to who seems more credible. Gabe Malor, who just spouts the same line that we always see from "moderate" Republicans, and which has lost election after election, or Steve Sailor, who seems to have a practical, common sense approach to immigration issues, even if the self-anointed "elite" doesn't like his prescriptions.

You, and others, keep repeating over and over of how we must not give the MFM any openings to exploit. I just want to see some examples of how 5.5 years of kissing Obama's ass has made things any better with the MFM.
The fact of the matter is the MFM is a sub-organization of the Democratic Party and it doesn't matter one bit what the Republicans do, the MFM will shit on them relentlessly.
You are using the same damn argument that the squishes use to say we must run a moderate or they will be all over the candidate with accusations. We ran Moderate Romney. They accused him over everything except barratry and if he had owned any ships they would have hit him with that too.

1] Concerned about Dorian. I'm not seeing if/when/where it'll hit the US, and I've no experience with hurricanes so I guess I'll get started with the cannibalism early. Really just more worried about delays at this point.
2] Any suggestions of things to do?

See Miss Marple's #144.
I oppose amnesty completely and believe it will ultimately be the death of the American republic as we now understand it. There are many specific and publicly acceptable reasons to do so, including fairness for those legally trying to enter the country, for the American worker, for the rule of law, for the need for a nation to protect its sovereignty. These are all fine and defensible reasons and should be deployed.
Bad reasons to publicly oppose amnesty include that it will destroy the GOP and hence any opposition we have to the Dems (not that it is anywhere as effective as it needs to be). And avoid references to fruit.

The fact of the matter is the MFM is a sub-organization of the Democratic Party and it doesn't matter one bit what the Republicans do, the MFM will shit on them relentlessly.
I've never said anything else.
You are using the same damn argument that the squishes use to say we must run a moderate or they will be all over the candidate with accusations.

Agreed. I actually learned something on Hannity yesterday (I know, right?). Boehner will put forward a wall bill only so as to have plausible deniability, but that bill will be transformed into an amnesty bill in conference. By then it's to late since the whole house will have a chance to vote, and there are enough GOP squishes in the House to pass it with the Dems. Our best hope of stopping this is no bill at all. Although it is also true that the Dems are overplaying their hand by preemptively saying no to any bill that does not include legalization. That's fine with me, because then it won't get to committee.

From AtC's link:
You keep your mouth shut — just as you change the channel when of those “You probably qualify for Medicaid” radio ads comes on, the way you avert your eyes from posters pushing Food Stamps.
The way you try not to think about how no kid has to buy milk with Food Stamps anymore, because itÂ’s all done with Electronic Benefit Transfer cards.
What galls is the assumption — the carefully honed, relentless message — that there’s nothing wrong with taking all this. It’s not charity, just the way things work. Nothing to be ashamed of.
And no reason, either, to sweat to build real reasons for pride. Hey, weÂ’ve all got self-esteem now.
And here I am, wading through reports like a sucker.
But remember, it's racist to say any of this - those poor Hispanics and blacks and whatevers will call us meanies and won't vote for us. Better to let the nation collapse than hurt anybody's precious feelings.
Fuck it. Why should I work? I could very happily spend the rest of my days reading, writing and drinking.

@ 295 pep - "The issue is whether the candidate makes their nonsense plausible."
Actually, this is not it. As you said, the MSM will be all over *any* candidate the Right presents. As such, what the candidate actually *says* is of only secondary importance. S/he will be flogged the same regardless. If s/he says nothing offensive, then take something he said, spin it, and make it SEEM offensive to the Low Intelligence Voters out there.
The battle is with the MSM itself, not with the "messaging" the GOP or others on the Right use. In a world where the MSM was not uniformly dominated by the Left (and Fox even falls under this somewhat), the information blockade would not exist, and we would find that, wowsers, there are a whole lot of people out there who actually agreed with us once they actually heard us, instead of a caricature of us presented by the MSM.
THAT'S the battle to fight and win - not some nonsense about "messaging" the GOP just right so as to slide by the MSM without taking too much damage.

A very interesting, and challenging point. I think approaching the issue by pointing out how amnesty facilitates the exploitation of the immigrants themselves at the hands of drug lords and human traffickers (citing examples of how people who have died attempting to cross the border illegally) would work. Americans are arguably the most compassionate people on earth, and I think appealing to that compassion would be very effective- show scorn for the drug lords and "coyotes", and compassion for the immigrants themselves.
That might work.

I'm sorry, but taking the line that we just have to say things better is a fool's game.
Of course that's how it will be portrayed. I've already stipulated that. The point is whether the average person will see things the way the MSM spins them, or decide that they are being unfair. If they can't, we're already done.

Chris Christie is correct. He is moving in the direction of wise bipartisanship for Republicans as established by the distinguished Michael Bloomberg. Libertarianism is a dangerous threat to both parties as it allows uneducated people to make their own decisions in a manner inconsistent with the common and greater good of society, and with a blatant disregard for social, economic, and environmental justice. Libertarian government would ignore humanity's raping of nature or the ongoing plight of the Palestinian people.

Yo, Vic. I'm an EX-CA Moron, will that do?
That disclaimer out of the way, I'll just say I'm not surprised. The state has been batshit crazy since, well, the Upton Sinclair days. For years after he ran for governor, people thought it amusing that such a wacked-out socialist loon could attract any measurable amount of support. Doesn't seem so odd now, does it?
In my lifetime, there were moments of hope for the state. Reagan was elected governor and, later, Petey Wilson got in. But we also elected the Browns, poppa and his spawn, Moonbeam. We passed Proposition 13, which kept property taxes down, but the Democrats raised other taxes, instituted fees on top of taxes, and passed enough bond issues to bankrupt most nations.
So this latest scheme is nothing out of the ordinary for the Land of Fruits and Nuts (sorry, Gabe). If I still lived there, I'd wince and say "oh shit," and go about my business. It's like living in an area infested with particularly bloodthirsty 'skeeters. After a while, the bites seem routine.

So since they're going to do that, and since nothing we say (except for "Yes, I was wrong, vote for the Democrat") will ever get positive coverage, then there is no reason for us to "moderate our tone." One moderates one's tone when the opponent is reasonable. When the opponent is going to shriek and scream at everything, your only option is not to engage at all (bad plan), or scream back.
See my #340. There is a limit to what people (well, most people) will swallow. Think the race card. The CBC and JJ still try to play it at every opportunity, but the disconnect between what they and the media say and what most people see is now to great. Hence, the fizzled Traytable demonstrations. Or make it up. Remember the spitting and screams of "NI**ER!" by those awful Tea Partiers? Look, the only way to get a modicum of honest reporting from the MFM is to get in their faces. Let's take the statement from Senator Pep above:
Senator Pep, at the forefront of the GOP Push against immigration
reform, stated today that undocumented immigrants "will ultimately be
the death of the American republic," leading some to speculate as to his
motives.
Now, a Senator Poppins would frankly never speak to the media, but if I had, I would follow that up with:
"I realize, of course, that I am not speaking to reporters here; I am speaking to a collected group of Democrat operatives with bylines. So when you do call the DNC for your marching orders, remember that my evil, racist name is spelled p-o-p-p-i-n-s. I can see this immigration issue backfiring spectacularily on the Dims; first it will push the Republican primary crowd to the polls and second it will further piss off their aging union worker base (not union management/activists, the actual wrenchturners).

Then, when it comes time to vote, Republicans should just vote in virtual lockstep against Amnesty, and in favor of securing the border.
We agree on this part.

No surprise. Years ago, in Confederates In the Attic, Tony Horwitz interviewed HS classes in Atlanta who all dismissed Lincoln as a racist who probably owned and / or fucked slaves.
Like Romney was the end of the line for me and the GOP, Zimmerman is the end of the line for me and the "black community." Let them all abort, overdose and gangsta themselves out of existence. They can FOAD, AFAIC.

I bet you didn't spend damn near 60 years there like I did.
Shit, I can remember (but just barely) Senator Nixon; my father would go into a red rage every time Tricky Dick was on the teevee. You don't forget stuff like that.
Still amazes me that Los Angeles was at one time actually a fairly nice place to live. Remembering that was one of my reasons for leaving. It's a third-world hellhole now, unless you have the spondulix to live in one of the chi-chi areas.

WASHINGTON (AP) — Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg says she's not surprised that Southern states have pushed ahead with tough voter identification laws and other measures since the Supreme Court freed them from strict federal oversight of their elections.
Ginsburg said in an interview with The Associated Press that Texas' decision to implement its voter ID law hours after the court struck down a key provision of the Voting Rights Act last month was powerful evidence of an ongoing need to keep states with a history of voting discrimination from making changes in the way they hold elections without getting advance approval from Washington.
Those damn Southern states. It's up to good libtards like Ruth Buzzy Ginsberg to stop them from allowing only people who are legally able to vote to vote

And you know what you don't hear about in the media anymore? Why? Because it wasn't true, and we proved it. Now, consider if there was someone in the audience who rolled a watermelon out in front of them. That's what you would have seen, day and night, from then until now. It wouldn't have made any difference in the black vote, but it would have cost us lots of whites, and we don't have those votes to spare.
Since when is a f****** cantaloupe racist.
Seriously? What they said about the Zimmerman case wasn't "plausible" (I guess you didn't hear about the riots- that's okay, if the MFM doesn't report them, they never happened) but cantaloupe is racist? Seriously?
See above.

I think:
(1) It is time that we pushed back on illegal immigration by repeatedly pointing out the word "illegal", and the direct correlation between illegal immigragtion and unemployment and crime.
(2) It is time that every elected conservative, in conversations with media types, include in each sentence "your party" when speaking to a reporter about democrats. It is obvious that they are partisan, don't let them avoid it.
(3) It is time that Malor put a (D) after his name, to make it official.

I just don't understand why liberals say that blacks don't have or can't get a photo ID. At some point they have to register to vote, right? How about you just have their photo imprinted on the voter registration paperwork?

But the don't--they all race to attack their "own"--and we lose. And then they, and those like you, point to the loss as "proof" that we needn't, dare not, shall not ever go near any truth that makes the leftist uncomfortable.

?
The whole POINT of my statement is that people DON'T volunteer to be drug mules but are coerced into it by drug dealers and that coercion is facilitated by things like lax border security and amnesty.
What I was trying (apparently ineffectively) to describe is something like what Jenny put forward in #368- say that we want to stop Mexican criminals and a corrupt Mexican government from exploiting innocent Mexicans, not that "we don't want these wetbacks in our country".

Oh, THIS is rich.
IRS Employee Union doesn't want Obamacare
Washington Examiner: http://washingtonexaminer.com/irs-employee-union-we-dont-want-obamacare/article/2533520
IRS employees have a prominent role in Obamacare, but their union wants no part of the law.
National Taxpayer Employee Union officials are urging members to write their congressional representatives in opposition to receiving coverage through President ObamaÂ’s health care law.
The union leaders are providing members with a form letter to send to the congressmen that says “I am very concerned about legislation that has been introduced by Congressman Dave Camp to push federal employees out of the Federal Employees Health Benefits Program and into the insurance exchanges established under the Affordable Care Act.”
The NTEU represents 150,000 federal employees overall, including most of the nearly 100,000 IRS workers...
The Examiner has the name of the union wrong, of course. This is the National Treasury Employees Union, also known as the commie union that donated, like, 95% to Obammy in the last couple of elections.
Fucking assholes.

Has anyone mentioned the 93 year old woman who was raped and killed by an illegal alien?
Because someone really should mention the 93 year old woman who was raped and killed by an illegal alien.
When that someone is done mentioning the 93 year old woman who was raped and killed by an illegal alien, they should add a side dish of the 13 year old who was gangraped by over a dozen illegal aliens.
If Rep Steve King mentioned the foregoing, would Gabe get on his finger wagging moral high horse and scold King for destroying the party's chances?
Or do we have any allowance for giving two fucking shits about the American victims of illegal alien criminals?
The bullshit rhetoric and whitewashing of the true human cost of illegal immigration makes me fucking sick.
How 'bout it Gabe? I'd love an answer.
