— Gabriel Malor Happy Tuesday.
Twinkies will make their way back onto store shelves next week, with longer shelf lives, too.
And that's all I have time for this morning. Maybe Vic will have more.

But this glaring lie is referenced in the story:
This window into past climates is especially helpful to scientists who study climatic patterns, particularly as they relate to global warming. There is no longer a debate in the scientific community as to whether the planetÂ’s annual average temperature is warming due to human activity, but because man-made recordings of the temperature only go back about 150 years there remains some discussion as to whether this warming is without precedent.
No debate? There are thousands of climate scientists who say this whole thing is a fraud. As for earthworm shit, how are you going back past 150 years for an animal that lives on 8?

Morning, rons and ronettes. Today's story is about Florence Lawrence, considered to be the first true "movie star" in our sense of the word.
Born in Ontario in 1890, little Frances Bridgwood appeared in song and dance performances with her mother at the age of three, and was brought up for a life in the theater, touring with her mother and father throughout both Canada and the US. A veteran performer by 1906, she found herself in New York. While looking for a job as an artist's model, she came across an ad by the American Mutoscope and Biograph Company* looking for actors and actresses to star in short five-minute playlets. After seeing herself on screen and hating her awkward appearance, Lawrence decided to learn the art of motion picture acting. But how?
Fortunately, one person who had seen Lawrence and saw her potential was the great director D.W. Griffith. Signing her in 1908, Griffith would eventually feature her in over 60 movies, and she became a great – if unknown - favorite with audiences. It wasn't practice in those days to feature actors' names in credits, for fear they would ask for more money. Whenever fan letters came in, they would be addressed to an actor’s appearance of a movie’s character: “The Girl With Curly Hair,” for example, or “Mr. Jones’ Wife.” As Lawrence became a popular drawing card for Biograph, both fans and the studio began calling her "The Biograph Girl."* *
Fired by Biograph in 1909 for attempting to jump to the Essanay studio, Lawrence and her husband Harry Solter wound up at the Independent Moving Pictures Company,* * * where clever publicity by studio head Carl Laemmle (including a rumor that Lawrence had died in a streetcar accident) pushed her popularity even higher than before, with the press office crowing that "every man, woman and child in America knows the name of Florence Lawrence." It was a fame too good to last.
In 1914, Lawrence was filming Pawns of Destiny. To this day, many film histories will tell you that an on-set fire got out of control, scarring Lawrence for life. In fact, while there was a fire, it never touched the actress; instead, while carrying actor Matt Moore down a flight of stairs, she somehow wrenched her back and, though she managed to finish out her Universal contract, she essentially vanished from public view for the next two years. When she returned with Elusive Isabel in 1916, reviews were poor, and she apparently quit Universal before being fired.
In the years to follow, Lawrence married and divorced three times as well as attempting several comebacks, but none were successful (a persistent rumor is that Universal quietly blacklisted her), and she turned to the occasional vaudeville appearance in order to make money. A few film roles - barely noticeable and almost always uncredited - came her way in the 1930s through MGM, but her days as a star (or even as a second lead) were long past.
Sickened by myelofibrosis and caught in a web of depression, Lawrence realized that any roles she got now were merely out of charity and she would never again have real screen presence. Miserable, lonely and near complete poverty, she consumed a mixture of cough syrup and ant paste, dying at 3.00 in the afternoon of December 28, 1938. Her suicide note read: "I am tired. Hope this works. Good-by, my darlings. They can't cure me so let it go at that. Lovingly, Florence."
Only a few days before her death, she had sent a photograph to a collector, writing: “I only wish that the producers thought as highly of me as you do."
Here she is portraying various emotions: http://tinyurl.com/mlorok6
And here she is on the cover of a 1914 Photoplay Magazine:
Hope you all have a wonderful day.
*Later simply “Biograph Studios.”
* *The same thing would happen to the – as yet unknown – Mary Pickford, who was “The Imp Girl” when she starred in movies for I.M.P. Studios.
* * *The precursor to Universal.

This is simply a payoff to big yogurt in New York as the company selected was chobani a new York based yogurt conglomerate.

Former Hostess Employees Bitter About Wage Cuts
Craig Davis, a former forklift operator at a Hostess cake plant in Emporia, Kan., has been unemployed since November, when the Twinkies maker shut its factories and began liquidation proceedings.
He could have applied to get his old job back now that the plant is churning out Twinkies, Zingers and Ding Dongs in preparation for a July 15 return to store shelves. But he said the current starting salary of about $11 an hour, with the chance to bump it to $14, is "a slap in the face."
"When I left, I was making $16.53 an hour, so I just didn't see the point," said Mr. Davis, who worked at the plant for almost 22 years.

July 08, 2013 Statement by the President on the Occasion of Ramadan
In the United States, Ramadan is a reminder that millions of Muslim Americans enrich our nation each day—serving in our government, leading scientific breakthroughs, generating jobs and caring for our neighbors in need. I have been honored to host an iftar dinner at the White House each of the past four years, and this year I look forward to welcoming Muslim Americans who are contributing to our country as entrepreneurs, activists and artists.
I wish Muslims across America and around the world a month blessed with the joys of family, peace and understanding. Ramadan Kareem*.

The thing is, that extended unemployment lets people continue to think that things will get better soon. Instead, in this national economy, you have to make drastic changes. Like the Okies did in the dust bowl days. You have to move. Like in the days after the civil war in the south, you have to go somewhere else. Right now, there isn't any where to go.
So you get that unemployment, and you keep all those those things you expect to be able to keep; the house, the car, the cable/internet. You can't sell the house because prices have collapsed and you don't want to take the loss, or the unpaid balance on the mortgage is more than the current market price. Every week, you get a little further behind, and now when it all runs out, you're screwed, totally.
Like the twinkies guys, one guy takes another job at half the pay, while another refuses to work because of a two dollar an hour pay cut (he would have to return to his old job at $11 to get the uptick back to $14).
So the liberals all talk about being 'one paycheck away from homeless'. Well, ya, it's that way for everybody if you spend your money as fast as you make it, and if you refuse to cut back your expenses when your circumstances change, or refuse to take your loses when the market turns against you. But somehow, that's just not fair.
Everyone has the same risks, the same probability of catastrophe, the same health care risk, yet somehow it's not fair when it's you that takes the hit when it should be your neighbor who is an asshole and deserves it.

Some smokers trying to get coverage next year under President Barack Obama's health care law may get a break from tobacco-use penalties that could have made their premiums unaffordable.
The Obama administration — in yet another health care overhaul delay — has quietly notified insurers that a computer system glitch will limit penalties that the law says the companies may charge smokers. A fix will take at least a year to put in place.
Starting in 2014, the law requires insurance companies to accept all applicants regardless of pre-existing medical problems. But it also allows them to charge smokers up to 50 percent higher premiums — a way for insurers to ward off bad risks.

They didn't have to push it because they knew that the EEOC had already issued that interpretation, thus making it ridiculously easy to sue.
And that is what the EEOC is there for, to make it easy for one of the "perpetually aggrieved" class to sue. The EEOC will even help them by providing lawyers at taxpayer expense.
But don't go knocking on that door if you are a white male and have been discriminated against. The EEOC said that during Obama's first term. They openly admitted they would take no white cases. They are currently just another racist organization just like the CBC and NAACP.

That's exactly what this is about. It's not enough to win a political victory...there's this need to rub their political opponent's noses in it and work to shame and humiliate them at every opportunity.

I'm betting that Chobani is the one with all the close proximities to these states. I notice that for instance Dannon has manufacturing in other states not on this list like Ohio and Texas. Greek yogurt does have a shorter shelf life than some other types of yogurt but not as short as traditional yogurt but it is about 5-10 days shorter than blended yogurt.
And yeah Greek yogurt is definitely more bitter than regular yogurt and I've always though Chobani's type tasted worse than the others too so, you know its got that going for it too. Its clearly all just government payoff.

14 The number of people getting food stamps is now higher than the number of private sector workers
*****
Pro tip: When gleaning news from any internet link site, it is a good idea to read the posted headlines with a grain of salt, then read the article, and actually pay attention to what you read while considering the source. Not that there isn't a large number of people on food stamps, but this headline as written is factually wrong. I think we have enough real solid things about which to be outraged, or are we merely stirring the pot?

>>>SINGLE PAYER, HERE WE COME!
Watched a documentary on the failures of the Drug War recently and there was a prof talking about how societies go through phases to become murderers on the level of the Nazis and Soviets.
First, he was saying these phases achieve their own momentum, that it isn't always down to one man or one administration that goes there. Instead its more a society-wide thing.
Second, those stages were Identification of the victim group, Isolation as in to a ghetto but it can be marginalization too, the stripping of Rights, the seizure of property, and then annihilation - which can be either active like the soviets and nazis did, or passive such as the denial of healthcare, food, basic needs.
If he's right, and if we can use the same as a comparison to single payer healthcare, then it doesn't matter who gets in power next. The door has opened already.

Because, at base, it isn't about "tolerance" or "acceptance." It's about power. That is the big elephant in the room that Gabe doesn't acknowledge; that for every happy, "normal" gay couple, there's one with unresolved daddy / mommy issues who wants to make the mean old Christianists (and don't think that's a coincidence, either) pay:
"So whattaya gonna do, huh, 'Christian?' Gonna follow that superstition you call religion? Or do you wanna keep your job? Huh? Where's your baby Jeebus, now, huh?"

Its made by a different process. As others have mentioned it has a lot more waste product left over and its got a more bitter flavor than even plain yogurt. It can taste pretty good though, and one of its main benefits is that its got double the protein than normal yogurt.

Vic, I know I am being a little nit-picky here, and I appreciate you taking the time to do the links, but...
...The article references several different "food assistance" programs, and the 101 million number is the summed total of participants. Some unspecified number (probably not an inconsiderable number) participate in multiple programs. For instance, a child on the school lunch program whose family is on food stamps gets counted twice.
Once again, I think it is inexcusable that we have such a large and growing dependency class, but words and language and facts really do matter if we are to maintain any moral high ground. Just one man's opinion.

You would ride on buses and fight all the fights.
If my vagina was a gun, you would treat it with care,
You wouldnÂ’t spill all its secrets because, well, why go there.
If my vaginas was a gun, youÂ’d say what it holds is private
From cold dead hands we could pry, you surely would riot.
If my vagina was a gun, its rights would all be protected,
no matter the body count or the children affected.
If my vagina was a gun, I could bypass security,
concealed carry laws would ensure IÂ’d have impunity.
If my vagina was a gun, I wouldnÂ’t have to beg you,
I could hunt this great land and do all the things men do.
But my vagina is not a gun, it is a mightier thing,
With a voice that rings true making lawmakersÂ’ ears ring.
Vaginas are not delicate, they are muscular and magic,
So stop messing with mine, with legislation thatÂ’s tragic.
My vaginaÂ’s here to demand from the source,
Listen to the voices of thousands or feel their full force.
(You can see what the person who wrote this looks like over at Weasel Zippers, but she's exactly what you think).
