Problem noted: For the tactic to work knowledge of the crime has to be spread; however to spread knowledge of the crime would spread certain other unsavory facts that go against the preferred narrative involving murder.

If we stop and ask ourselves an honest question on if the elected officials that we put into office will capitulate on gun control, meaning registration etc..etc..etc. Then we can only come to the conclusion that the leaders who we put into office will do as they always do these days. Provide some super nifty sound bites, tell us how outraged they are about doing away with our constitutional rights to possess firearms and then promptly crumble like a dry leaf as they have done on our other constitutional rights.
Truth be told, when we square up the reasoning for doing away with our rights of privacy using terrorism and/or criminal behavior as the excuse then we are simply telling our elected leaders that it's ok to do away with our rights for this or that reason. Hence, it's our fault for inserting a massive grey are for them to work in.
Our elected leaders will at some point, join in on the gun registration and bans, bet your life on it.

Ever since 9/11 I have been worried about the lack of security. The school sits in the center of an older suburban neighborhood and is accessible from 4 sides. They do lock all of the doors now except the front door AND the door the kids exit to the playground.
The security involves a sign which says,"All visitors must report to the office." That's it.

Funny, thugs can smell fear or the lack of it. One Sunday night around 2 AM we were on a subway coming back from China Town and six thugs came into the car we were sitting in, checking us out. We didn't avoid eye contact, in fact my drunk roommate sort of baited them.
It scared the shit out of them. White boys not afraid at 2AM. I guess they figured we were cops or something because they got the hell out of our car. I was ready to shot all of them. Had my hand on the gun. Guess they knew that.

Reminds me of a story when I was driving in DC.
So I'm at a light waiting to turn left, get an arrow and start my turn. A bicyclist in his Lance Armstrong spandex outfit coming the other direction decides he's not going to stop and instead tries to swerve around my 6,000 lb truck.
Bummer is, he didn't notice that I was turning into a parking lot and had to stop to get my pass out for the gate to open. I slow down, he's going fast, and clips my rear passenger quarter, flying over his handlebars and gets a faceful of asphalt.
Funny coda to that story - he wanted my insurance information and I told him to get lost. Somehow a cop was around (even though this was DC) and the guy makes a motion to the cop to come over. The cop basically says "If you want me to get involved, it'll be to to cite you for running that light against this man's legal left turn." Bicyclist mutters something about no bike lanes and limps back to his fancy bike.

Its the Secret Life. I do see this alot - basically they're still living at home and their parents truly believe the kid is an angel because he/she never does anything remotely messed up *that they hear about*
Anyway, the kids all talk amongst themselves online, they're all sexting and bullying and having virtual gangs and one-upping each other. Its not just friends or friends of friends but pretty much anybody their same age-range. And if you fall afoul of the others, like acting the troll here, the added risk is that those other kids know where you live and go to school.
So these kids have a Secret Life. Often its just about sex and drugs and doing stuff behind the parents back, and sometimes all of that gets out of hand.
Other adults won't interfere, Hell sometimes its another adult online or in the neighborhood getting them into whatever it is.

I dread the thought of ever having to pull a trigger in self defense. Seriously, I think about it, and the thought sickens me.

Another story about cyclists' arse-holery:
A month ago I needed to borrow my sister's car while mine was in the shop, so I rode into work with her. My sister is a US Park Ranger at a national park just outside of DC. It's a wooded oasis in a high-density area, so a lot of cyclists like to ride down the long park entrance road, then make a U-turn at the entrance station and ride out. At the entrance station there is a "no U-turn" sign, and just before the entrance there is a very steep road on the left that goes up to the parking lot for the rangers. As we drove in, there was a cyclist in front of us and my sister said, "Watch, he's going to make a U-turn just as I'm turning left," which is precisely what happened. The idiot managed to avoid a collision and didn't fall off his bike, but as we got out of the car, there he was, lecturing my sister about how she almost hit him. Now remember, my sister was wearing her US Park Ranger uniform, but that didn't deter this self-righteous cyclist. She informed him that he had made an illegal U-turn, he didn't know what she was talking about, and I informed him that only a jackass would go out of his way (and up a very steep road) to purposely get into an argument with a Ranger.
Seriously, while I can understand wanting to exchange a few choice words with someone who almost hit you, once you see the person who almost hit you was a Ranger, wouldn't you just shut up and ride your stupid bike home?

PASCAGOULA -- A new trial date of Oct. 14 has been set in the capital murder trial of Tevin Benjamin, who was 14 at the time of the killing of Hattiesburg resident Michael David Porter.

The CDC study that I mention has data that comes close to answering your question. When New Jersey, New York, Los Angeles, and a few other "high gun control" areas are factored out of the data, the United States as a gun-crime rate that is average... the same as Europe.
In other words, with all of our guns - we don't have a high gun crime incident rate. We only have a high rate because of the high-gun-control areas.
Again, no news here - if you are informed and intelligent. Guns save lives, as long as access to guns is open and fair. It's when the good guys are unarmed that things go bad.

FTL - you should reconsider that approach. While there are a variety of technical issues with setting up MSExchange's web access - these can be addressed with decent design and conscientious updating - the real problem is a tax issue. Making these outside consultants look and act like employees can provide the IRS with evidence that they are employees when one of them fails to pay his 1099 withholding and then claims to be an de facto employee. Go to you hosting company, buy another domain like: bob@FTL-consultant.com, setup webmail accounts with calendars and all the bells and whistles. Park these guys outside your system, then for compliance and archival purposes have the hosting company sftp you a daily tarball of all the traffic. It should cost you $150/year.

Word of caution- The CDC report was actually to identify potential areas of research that could "reduce the threat of firearm violence." The president's EO specified projects that could be completed quickly (I believe 2-4 years). I expect some slapdash, poorly-conceived and executed BS studies with recommendations in place before the 2016 presidential elections. Could Obama be looking at a parting shot to secure his legacy as truly transformational. Watch out for the sequelae of this CDC report!

Sorry, misunderstood your role. I've just been down that path with a guy who "forgot" to pay his taxes. The IRS tried to gig us over the fact that we provided him with a BlackBerry -- which we had to do per DoD email security policy.
We now require new freelancers to provide evidence of their quarterly payments for the first year. We would probably make an exception for someone who has been doing it for a long time.

The unstated argument is that if we make it harder for people to purchase guns legally, it will become more difficult for people to obtain guns illegally.
So, the unstated idea is first you make it more difficult for people to buy guns legally, then the next logical step is that you have to do something about all of the legally owned guns out there because those guns may someday find their way into a criminal's hands.
They can't admit the true plan though (as always with leftists) which is why they have to use lies, misdirection and illogical appeals to emotion.

Unfortunately, this is going to be the assinine assertion by progressives around the world - that the fault lies in the gun and US gun policy and not with the 3 teenaged reprobates who callously decided that a cold blooded murder was the way to cure boredom.
In a normal world - one would be appalled by the decision and actions of these teens and start asking about how / why they became this disconnected from normal societal behavior? Why this was part of a pattern of criminal behavior - and why the legal system hadn't done more to get these thugs off the streets. We would be looking at where society failed with providing these teens with their values - and fixing that problem.
But progressives don't live in a normal world - or a world based on reality. They live in a world based on the fact that they will see only what they want to believe - and not believe what they are really seeing.

Just looking at the currently known facts of the case, how many gun control laws have been violated here? I see, Minor in possession of a firearm, illegal transport of a firearm within reach of the driver, illegal transport of a loaded firearm. Illegal discharge of a firearm. Discharge of a firearm from a vehicle.
These don't include the actual murder, just the gun control laws violated. Some that may apply depending on who's gun it was: Illegal acquisition or purchase of a firearm, Illegal possession of a firearm by felon or committer of domestic violence.
Am I missing any?
