— Gabriel Malor FRIDAY!
Sen. Coburn came in for some heat this week from conservatives irritated that he hasn't signed on to Sen. Cruz's defund tactics. He's pushing back with this Q&A explaining why he is opposed.
The MRC had its annual gala last night, during which the audience voted on the media's most biased pronouncements over the year. I haven't laughed so hard in a long time. Twitchy has recap.
Links to last week's podcast are below the fold, along with some music. The new podcast should be up this afternoon, with guest David Burge aka Iowahawk. Have a great weekend.

If you look into that release you will find that the release has noting to do wit the actual report. It is simple asspull lies. The actual panel report says the warming has not behaved as they predicted and the models may have some problems.
But the reality is even better. We have been cooling since 1998 and the "leveling" is only due to government tinkering with the raw data.

Not true and this myth has been dispelled a 100 times here and keeps cropping up.
The base law passed in the infamous lame duck session on Christmas Eve when the Dems had 60 votes.
The "fix" for the abortion payoff for so-called "moderate" Democrats and the Cornhusker Kickback passed with reconciliation in March.

People tend to get rankled when you suggest they not only don't want to defund Obamacare, but seem to be in support of it.
The alternative explanation is that you dislike it so much, you're going to announce to the world that you are going to let it breeze through your legislature, because you didn't craft the legislation.
So when it collapses at some unforeseen point in the future, you can point out that it's not your fault. As if at that point in the future, the Dems, and the rest of your assorted enemies in the media are going to suddenly declare how right you were all along.
It bothers some people when you actually write that down, because it kinda sorta leaves only the two alternatives: you are a complete idiot, or you really DO want this thing to be the way we deliver healthcare in this country.

The alternative would have been for the House to vote through the Senate bill, but the blue dogs (lol) didn't want that.
Hence, reconciliation to get the final law.
Posted by: Bevel Lemelisk at September 27, 2013 07:25 AM (uhAkr)
Which was why the bill went immediately to the House Christmas Eve and was passed "as is" so it would not have to be reconciled in committee after the Dems lost the House.
The "fixes" were done later in March. The "blue dogs" in the House got a pinky swear". They could not use "reconciliation" on the base bill because it was not a revenue bill.

"In our study, we found that during the Late Cretaceous Period, when
carbon dioxide levels were around 1,000 ppm, there were no continental
ice sheets on Earth."
Science World Report
http://preview.tinyurl.com/n88zuzf
Don't just blythely skim over that comment. Ninety million years ago, carbon dioxide levels in the atmosphere were higher than they are now. That means there was some naturally occurring process that injected CO2 into the atmosphere at a rate higher than the rate other naturally occurring processes were extracting it from the atmosphere.
Here and now, human activity is visible everywhere you look. Every hour of the day. When you are stuck in traffic, when you see huge construction equipment building yet another something., when you drive passed some industrial site with it's smoke stacks spewing water vapor into the air. Psychologically, it's easy to believe that human activity is injecting CO2 into the atmosphere because you see so many other humans doing what they do. What you don't see are the other, naturally occurring processes that also inject CO2, whatever they may be.
The whole idea that man made global warming is occurring is fraudulent because there is undeniable evidence, accepted by the scientific community, that natural occurring cycles of cooling and warming have happened, repeatedly, over millions of years.
The fanatical leftist response is always 'yes, but' humans are contributing. It comes down to the arithmetic, the numbers, the math, and we don't know all the variables, nor can we accurately quantify them. Nor do we understand how those variables interact; the equations.
and none of this matters because it all comes down to what you believe. So I'm gonna go make pancakes.

That's basically it. There are Republicans who believe Obamacare will become the law of the land, they know human nature being what it is, people will eventually adjust and adapt to the new reality, of healthcare being of, and solely delivered by the federal government.
And the Republican Party does not want to be remembered as the people who got between the people and their government issued crack.

Dr. Coburn wants the debate surrounding the CR spending bill to focus on what is workable on spending, not misleading strategies meant to raise political profiles and campaign cash.
...which lead to more elected conservatives which he claims is his goal earlier in the article.
How are elevated political profiles and campaign cash for conservatives bad things, Senator Coburn?

Watched a documentary called Homo Sapiens 1900 on Netflix about the eugenics movemnts prior to WW2 and thereafter. It was slow but eh-good because it showed a lot of the original footage and popular media of the day, and didn't flinch or cover up details of the movement in any country.
The USA portions were interesting and horrifying, particularly in the early years. It showed the climactic clip from The Black Stork http://is.gd/L7OoB8 where the bastard doctor refuses to even put a warming blanket on a newborn because he determines the baby is defective and should die - and, yes, it was a real newborn. They've been killing kids that way in Chicago for a hundred years, apparently.
In later years, the American eugenics movement - besides the horrors of PP and forced sterilization - turned itself into beauty contests and gold star-type award competitions for 'fit to breed' families, much more surface than the sinister versions of Germany and the USSR, but also more durable since once you see it you can tell its still everywhere.

Brave Sir Barry is so tough standing up to the Vichy Republicans.
In this round, however, the president and his aides maintain that when it comes to raising the government's borrowing authority and meeting its debt obligations, there's no bargaining.
"The entire world looks to us to make sure that the world economy is stable. You don't mess with that," Obama said Thursday. "And that's why I will not negotiate on anything when it comes to the full faith and credit of the United States of America."
Putting us further into debt. Another gutsy call.

As for letters about insurance I got mine a few weeks ago. They are switching their plan to a new company. It is a company we used to have about 15 years ago that they dropped. It was dropped because most of the healthcare providers in our area refused to accept their cards because they were so shitty about paying. They were even worse than BCBS.
The letter also said my premiums were going up again and coverage was going down as my catastrophic plan was no loner available due to Obamacare.
My old plan I paid the first $5K (both me and wifey) and then they paid 100% after that. We usually hit that 5K in early February.

"So what they are saying is that everyone should form a trust for their assets, buy "insurance" like this, and just prepare the bankruptcy forms in case you get hurt."
This is essentially the plan if you have assets to protect.
You can never go below zero, so owing 5 million more than you can pay is the same as owing $10 more than you can pay. Take the lowest premium, trust in luck that you'll be healthy and if something goes wrong, declare bankruptcy.
Live in a house you rent from a trust. Don't carry large balances in personal accounts. Time to game the system.

The latest I heard was that there were no Westerners among the terrorists. New information?

I don't know about anyone else, but I'm up for some good ole fashioned mass murder of these terrorists wherever they live. No warnings, no rules of engagement, no prisoner-taking, no glad-handing, etc.
Just straight up bullets to the faces, from either up close or far away.

@266 baldilocks
I think that is an effort at mythology building. One piece of landing gear (symbolism is important here) actually flew and hit that building. Rauf's apparent idea is genius, take that as a sign from Allah that they should build there. Then invite the mujahideen from overseas to make their hijra.
Black conservatives take so much racist garbage it almost makes me blush. I find myself saying "damn" out loud.

Okra is fine if you put 'em in a bowl and eat 'em like corn flakes. Gotta cover them in gin *hic* like *hic* I do, *hic* though.

So when do the terrorists get payback? Americans were murdered in Kenya, don't we owe Somalia a few drones at least?
Payback? Don't you know that terrorists are just like us? They're in the Religion of Peace, how can that be bad? They're just misunderstood and in need of a hug. Or two.
There's no evil in the world, all the cool people know that. All cultures are the same and equally good regardless of what they say or do. All except those murderous homophobic Republican conservative Christians and their damned green Jello with the carrots in it.
Bastards.

That's been my opinion on how the war should have been fought since day one. Like the Baptism scene from "The Godfather" on a continuous and world-wide scale.

If Republicans did somehow get a supermajority somewhere down the road do you really think they actually get rid of Obamacare? If you do allow me to point to the income tax, social security, abortion and on and on. Republicans want to get elected, that's all they care about and they need those issues to get elected, they'll never do anything about them.

They are recommending I sign up for the "Keep Fit 10,000" plan.
For the wife and I, deductibles are $20,000 inpatient, $27,500 outpatient and emergency.
I wonder if they cover the lube. Posted by: jwest at September 27, 2013 08:55 AM

What's the coverage? 60/40 bronze, 70/30 silver or 80/20 gold?
Do you mind posting a redacted copy to the yahoo group?
I know I'm going to get a letter like that soon.
Really pisses me off that my $5k ded. HSA 80/20 plan is 1) illegal under Obamacare and 2) considered a "gold" plan in coverage.
When I get that letter, I'm redacting it and going nuclear on the libs on my FB.

I love it -- the AoSHQ is only top blog on the web where you have to learn code just to post comments with the full range of formatting.

That's exactly it.
You know all those Republicans who have said obamacare is unconstitutional?
yeah.
See them fuckers following through?
Because if they really believed it was unconstitutional, then no Supreme Court ruling magically makes it constitutional, no vote by the legislature no matter how many in favor confers nothing.
The Founders meant for us to interpret the law, you know "We the People?"
And if the federal government insists on enforcing an unconstitutional law, then they--having sworn a fucking oath to uphold the Constitution!!--have a duty to declare the federal government is in a state of rebellion and that it has forfeited all legitimacy.
Instead, the cowardly bitches whine and moan.
So fuck them.
We will all have our piece and they can choose who they will stand with. Neither I nor the good Lord will forget.
