1 Good Morning Morons.  Today is Friday, September 06, 2013.  On this day in 1901 President William McKinley was shot by anarchist Leon Czolgosz at the Pan American Exposition in Buffalo, N.Y. McKinley died on September 14th.  Yes, here, as well as everywhere else, they call him an anarchist.  In actuality he was a communist.  At that time they were the same thing.  The assassination of McKinley led to the creation of the SS.  It is ironic that McKinley died because medical care of that period were largely incompetent.  He died from gangrene because they could not "find" the bullet.   We will be going back to that here in a few years as Obamacare is implemented.

13 Outrage of the day:

The woman whose opinion lawmakers are relying on to go to war in Syria is also a paid advocate for the war-torn countryÂ’s rebels.

On Wednesday, Secretary of State John Kerry encouraged members of the House of Representatives to read a Wall Street Journal op-ed by 26-year-old Elizabeth O’Bagy — an analyst with the Institute for the Study of War — who asserted that concerns about extremists dominating among the Syrian rebels are unfounded.

She would be accurate if "unfounded" meant terrorists of the worst order.  But this is the kind of shit that comes out of the lying jackals in this corrupt administration.  And how many members of the general public will ever hear about this?

23 Here is the poll question that was used to up support for Syrian strikes from 9% to 36% with still 59% opposed.

The United States says it has determined that the Syrian government has used chemical weapons in the civil war there. Given this, do you support or oppose the United States launching missile strikes against the Syrian government?”

Could it have been worded any more biased?  This kind of shit is why I rarely trust polls.  But even as bad as this one was still an overwhelming majority is opposed to this crap.

And the WaTi is openly saying they do not trust what the Obamanite liars are saying.

That virtually every politician and pundit talks about the attacks as if it were proven they occurred and that AssadÂ’s government perpetrated them is beyond surreal. U.N. weapons inspectors say that they wonÂ’t even be able to confirm that chemical weapons were used for two more weeks. Yet, the Obama administration says it is not only certain the attack occurred, but that AssadÂ’s government launched it.

But I like this statement from one of the plaintiffs.

This case should have been called United States v. Walthall instead of ACRU v. Walthall County. We’re doing the job that Attorney General Eric H. Holder Jr. won’t do. In fact, he’s too busy suing Texas for its new photo ID law and abusing power in other ways to harass states that are trying to ensure election integrity.”

Of course not, the Democrats do not want voter integrity which is why this part of the law is never enforced and they oppose voter ID.

Morning, ‘rons and ‘ronettes.  HereÂ’s a Myrna Loy story:

During the filming of 1946s The Best Years of Our Lives – a film dealing with three returning veterans and how they adjust (or not) to civilian life – the cast and crew had a remarkable rapport, enjoying each otherÂ’s company on and off the set.  The only one who was somewhat out of place was, oddly, not Harold Russell, a double amputee who had lost both his hands during the war, but Myrna Loy.  In place of hands, Russell had two prosthetic “hooks,” which he used adeptly, and Loy was self-conscious and uneasy when she first saw him on the set.*

Sensing her discomfort, Russell walked over to Loy, took her hand with one hook and patted it with the other.  Loy immediately relaxed and the two of them had a warm, friendly relationship from then on.

Russell, by the way, not only won an Academy Award for his role as Homer Parrish, but a special award by the Academy’s board of governors – the only time any actor has won two Oscars for the same part.

Hope you all have a wonderful day.

*in the movie, Russell loses his hands when his carrier is sunk; in reality, he was making a training film when a defective fuse caused an explosive device he was holding to detonate.

At the 1901 Pan-American Exposition in Buffalo, New York, an assassin shot President William McKinley twice at close range with a .32 caliber revolver. One bullet grazed McKinley's sternum (breastbone) and another penetrated his stomach.

A hastily assembled medical team, headed by a gynecological surgeon, operated immediately at the small Exposition hospital, but the second bullet could not be found. After cleaning the stomach cavity, the surgeon closed the incision with black silk thread and a straight sewing needle. A worried McKinley aide sent word to inventor Thomas Edison to rush an X-ray machine to Buffalo to find the stray bullet. It arrived but wasn't used.

If you think your gonna get rid of a dictator in the middle east, your gonna have a bad time 5. tfg has no fucking idea what he is doing. 6. saving muslims in the ME often leads to Christian massacres in the ME, usually by the very fuckers that were saved I could go on, but knowing this i can't see how any sane republican or honorable demcrat (Ha, as if) could authorize a strike. Further, I don't see how anyone can trust these varmints. Admin or congress they are a bunch of liars and the public will not accept closed door confidential meeting where everyone files out agreeing to strike -- They would have to have a pretty fucking good reason, and make it public, and i can not imagine a reason good enough.

In the Teller-Ulam design, which accounts for all multi-megaton yield hydrogen bombs, this is accomplished by placing a fission bomb and Kaboom (tritium, deuterium, or lithium deuteride) in proximity within a special, radiation-reflecting container. When the fission bomb is detonated, gamma rays and X-rays emitted first compress the Kaboom, then heat it to thermonuclear temperatures

Obama's being hammered as incompetent and indecisive over the Syria situation, but another target of opportunity has come up.

Taxing waitresses.

Forget any details, because they don't matter and no one will pay attention anyway.  The only thing that matters is the issue and the headline.  Obama is so bent on getting as much money in taxes as possible that he goes after single mothers waiting tables.

But we won't use this.  Because our intelligentsia   will say it distracts from the serious issues  and because we're the stupid party.  But mostly because we're the stupid party.

As with walking and chewing gum, we can't do two things at once.  Even if we could, we don't have the people in place to recognize the opportunity.

"Mom waited tables when sane enough.

It's a great issue if it is handled right.

Obama's War on Waitresses

Since they feel the pain of his decisions every night when they cash out, it's easy to train them.  Smack a puppy while it's pissing on the rug, not an hour later.

Let them know that reason they can't make the payment at Cash Advance is that Obama needed that money more than them.

Personalize it.  Exaggerate it.  Handle it with all the integrity that Alan Grayson would use if the situation was reversed.

See #10.  The IRS reclassified the "automatic tips" that are levied on large groups from "tips" to "salary" (earned income).  That makes them subject to SS taxes and requires a shit load of records and reporting from the restaurants.

So what is the natural outcome?  The restaurants simply quit doing auto tips and the waitresses will get stiffed half the time.

Although you may be "technically" right, the correct explanation if we were smart would be:

Payrolls in the U.S. climbed less than projected in August after smaller gains the prior two months, indicating companies are being deliberate in their hiring as they wait for a pickup in demand. The unemployment rate unexpectedly fell as more people left the labor force.

The gain of 169,000 workers last month followed a revised 104,000 rise in July that was smaller than initially estimated, Labor Department figures showed today in Washington. The median forecast of 96 economists surveyed by Bloomberg called for an August increase of 180,000. Unemployment dropped to 7.3 percent, the lowest since December 2008.

318 "Syrian rebel admits using Chemical weapons. There are no "good" guys in this fight and we need to stay the fluk out of it."

Someone may want to see about getting that little nugget over to Peggy Noonan, certified bubble-inhabiting mediot, so she can rethink this:

"The world this time cannot "not know," or claim not to know. And though Bashar Assad has made his pro forma denials, it does not seem believable that this was not a government operation. Assad's foes may or may not be wicked enough to use such weapons, but it is hard to believe they are capable."

I guess when you know all the answers and get paid to spew them in print several times a week  it's tough to wrap your Cosmopolitan-soaked brain around dynamic stuff like the nature of the Syrian "rebellion",  the proclivity of military leaders of their, um, ethnic persuasion to turncoat, and general muslim incompetence in securing their shit.  How many stories have we seen of Arab Spring Breakers overrunning arms warehouses across the ME?  Why should Assad's slime stores be immune?

And to think AQ-affiliated "rebels" aren't *capable* of popping the tops on chems through either incompetence or manipulative intent.  Really, Pegs?  Have another drink.  It's 11:30am  somewhere.

Even if a waitress pays the same in taxes after the Obama change, the timing is what is going to make them mad.

(at cashout)

"Hey, Bernie.  I had two 8 tops  tonight and they were drinking like fish.  Why isn't that cash in my tray?"

"Because of the Obama deal, you'll see that next Thursday in your check."

"Fuck that!  I've got to pick up diapers and pay my sitter.  I don't care about Obama, just give me my money!"

"Hey, weren't you the one dancing around the bar on election night saying that we finally have a president that can sing?"

"Give me my money or I'm going to cut you, right now!"

322 Pope and Bishops call for day of fasting and prayer by Catholics for Peace in Syria-tomorrow September 7th.

Fasting like the old-time Lenten fast where the monks just drank beer all day?

323 295 GGE,

Yes...of course it pays to go on field trips once a month to old bookstores with cash in your pocket...just saying

324 I have to go to work and am still here. I turned on Windows 8 computer.  I now see formatting options!

My comment #326 was supposed to be all in Bold type.  Formatting doesn't matter at least on my computers.

Bye now for the day. I'll look in from my iPhone.  It was an experiment.  Ignore it.

326 Jaws@320,

Yep. A few "rebels" managed to take out some planes with box-cutters, an event that redefined who we are and what we'll accept as a nation. I figure they're clever enough to fire off some chemicals even if suicidally. Noonan's brain is clearly pickled. Or she's terribly lazy and lacks curiosity. Either way, she's not required reading any more if she ever was.

327 Our little friend of Al-Qaeda-in-Syria just graduated from Georgetown University.  And when I say just, I mean just a few months ago.

329 When Reagan made his Alzheimer's Farewell Speech I think that was Peggy's work as well.

She's been living on backwash ever since.

330 Hey, Barkeep.

Give me another.  And make it a double.

That gentleman at the end of the bar? Whatever he's having,  I'll have one of those too.  Make it a double.

They're usually apostrophes that get turned into gibberish when cut and pasted directly from a web page.

If not apostrophes they're almost always some other kind of punctuation mark like a semicolon. If you keep that in mind when reading you can figure out what they are from their context.

If you don't believe me click on the article and compare the quotes to their original sources. I think you'll find that I'm correct on this one.

The best way to get rid of them is to copy the web article into Microsoft Word and then copy and paste into the comment box from there. ;-)

332 "When Reagan made his Alzheimer's Farewell Speech I think that was Peggy's work as well."

"She's been living on backwash ever since."

I'll give her her due.  She's written  a lot of beautiful stuff.  But it was generally of the florid, abstract, and inspirational variety.  When it comes to specifics and analyzing the world *as it actually is*  outside the bubble, she's hopelessly out of her element.

333 122 "USFS says fire in Yosemite was caused by a hunter with an illegal fire, not marijuana growers as was originally speculated." We'll be big about this and not tar all hunters with the brush of one firestarting f'up. Just the same way all the Right always speak carefully about individual marijuana'ers. 334 After recently watching the SciFi movie, Serenity, I keep having this one quote characterizing discussion after discussion on a large range of topics.

Shepherd Book
:
"I don't care what you believe in, just believe in it."

It seems that actually having courage of convictions is something that society now frowns on, no matter what your convictions are. You're supposed to be amorphous.
