Trolling The Obamacare Website
— Open Blogger

Sometimes when I get bored, I do stupid, juvenile things. Like troll the Obamacare chat helpline, for example.

Here's the chat I had with Magnolia. I'd feel bad about hassling some drone over something that she has no direct control over except for the despicable smear against insurance companies that she drops in response to my complaint that my coverage has been dropped.

Think this is in their script? I do.

P.S. My name isn't Paul.
[10:41:37 pm]: Welcome! You're now connected to Health Insurance Marketplace Live Chat.

Thanks for contacting us. My name is Magnolia. To protect your privacy, please don't provide any personal information, like Social Security Number, or any other sensitive medical or personal information.

[10:41:49 pm]: Magnolia
Hello, before we begin can I please ask what state you're in and are you looking for information about health insurance in the state you live in, or a different state?

[10:42:31 pm]: Paul
My catastrophic insurance got canceled. Bronze plan DOUBLES my premiums. Obama said my premiums would go down. WHAT THE HELL??!!!

[10:44:39 pm]: Magnolia
Do you have any Marketplace questions that I can help you with?

[10:45:15 pm]: Paul
He said it would go down an average of $2500. Can you explain this?

[10:45:46 pm]: Magnolia
Have you filled out a Marketplace application?

[10:46:32 pm]: Paul
Yes. My premiums are going to go up. Whatever happened to "if you like your plan, you can keep it"? My plan got cancelled.

[10:48:27 pm]: Magnolia
If you liked your plan and it covered the minimum essential health benefits you could have kept it. It was the insurance company's decision to cancel it.

[10:49:07 pm]: Paul
Bullshit. They HAD to cancel it under Obamacare rules. Are you proud to be part of this SHIT?

[10:49:44 pm]: Magnolia
Do you have any other Marketplace questions that I can help you with?

[10:50:13 pm]: Paul
I'd like you to admit that Obama lied, fuckface.

[10:52:02 pm]: Magnolia
Do you have any Marketplace questions that I can help you with?

[10:53:40 pm]: Paul
You proud of this?

[10:54:35 pm]: Magnolia
We cannot give our opinions.

[10:54:51 pm]: Paul
Explain to me how it is the insurance company's fault that Obama outlawed the plan I was on.

[10:54:54 pm]: Magnolia
Do you have any Marketplace questions that I can help you with?

[10:55:33 pm]: Paul
How do you get a job on this site? Just be willing to lie about shit?

[10:56:58 pm]: Magnolia
The law provides you with greater consumer protections, new coverage options, and increased consumer information.

[10:57:48 pm]: Paul
You forgot a doubling of premiums.

[11:00:24 pm]: Your chat session is over. Thanks for contacting us, and we hope we've answered your questions. Have a great day.

20 "It is not. Many, many existing plans are ILLEGAL under Obamacare." That's not true. The plans aren't illegal, they simply aren't in compliance. You can buy insurance for anything. Extra car insurance doesn't qualify either. Now a particular insurance company may decide they aren't going to offer a plan anymore, but this is different than saying it's illegal for them to offer the plan.

34 "Andrew, come on. The insurance company has to cancel the plan if it doesn't qualify under Obamacare rules. " I'm not defending Obamacare, just being picky about the specifics. A healthcare plan with doesn't qualify isn't an "illegal" plan. The insurance company is not mandated to do away with such plans. It may be the best decision business-wise, but they aren't forced to do it. They aren't forced to be in the insurance business to begin with. And to be perfectly frank, the insurance companies bear a lot of blame for Obamacare. They are the ones that signed off on it and made it possible.

I guess you could say that she's more likely than not to be a leftie because she's working for an Obamacare help desk, but I wouldn't be so sure myself...you'd be surprised where people end up when they're desperate for work and there isn't much available.

Obamacare is a fucking travesty.  I prefer not to take it out on the low-level help-desk drone who gets paid a shit wage to do an impossible job.

"[10:48:27 pm]: Magnolia
If you liked your plan and it covered the minimum essential health benefits you could have kept it. It was the insurance company's decision to cancel it."

Come on Magnolia, be honest.  You mean the insurance company decided to follow the law and cancel it, because the ACA made it illegal for them to offer it as previously written.  "Paul's" previous plan didn't offer him essential benefits critical to maintaining his health as a young male, such as covering his potential mammogram, pap smear and hysterectomy needs, as well as ensuring he made contributions to provide  birth control for deserving, underprivileged young women, such as Sandra Fluke.  So, they had no choice but to cancel it.  They were following the law, and doing what was best for him!

Today, there are fewer but “better” Republicans — if “better” means adhering to the tea party view that a United States not adhering to tea party values deserves to be brought to a clangorous halt." This way, when it comes time to take sides, she may stay on the sidelines, vice going up against people with a legitimate grievance and no mortal intentions of yielding any longer. At least she will know they gave fire in their hearts. She will gave to deyermine if she has the sane in hers. In other news, and since we are using foul language....the magnificent cocksucker Ryan wishes to pivot to immigration now, according to a PowerLine post. What is going to happen if immigration is passed is that what was America dies. Dies. Because we are going to get swamped by another crowd to be given first place at the diversity trough, who are going to be able to morph not giving them amnesty earlier into some sort of hate crime, and absolutely nothing about America not catering to Progs, African-Americans, or Hispanics will ever be accorded civic piety status again.

173 Well, whatever.  I don't buy the "paid shill" aspect.  (Seriously, what does any paying customer gain from paying a firm to go around defending civility towards random helpdesk employees -- not the Obamacare policy itself, just the principle of "don't be a jerk to low-level drones?")  And I do think it's a little rude to call some poor random girl a "fuckface."

But it's not the end of the world.  Nobody had their hearts broken or their souls sucked out of their bodies Shang Tsung-style because of this.  It's not worth fighting about anymore, either -- everyone's free to feel as they wish, no harm no foul.  So g'night everyone, and be of good health.

194 As to calling a call center jockey equal to anyone involved with the Holocaust; that was made manifest by the Nuremburg trials.

"I was just following orders" was not a viable defense.

"I wasn't aware of the gas chambers" was not a viable defense.

"I only guarded the perimeter" was not a viable defense.

Even those peripheral individuals involved with prisoners working in industry were not immune to the charge.

The only reason the whole country wasn't individually charged with war crimes is because about then the Russians got very belligerent and it became glaringly obvious that they were spoiling for a fight and were themselves murdering repatriated troops, German POW's and would've have swept through Germany if we had begun to imprison and punish the German Army for the Holocaust.

The German people, knowing the specifics or not, were responsible for the Holocaust.

Sort of like felony murder where when anyone dies during a felony the perpetrators face Murder 1.

The German people elected, applauded and gleefully went to war for the perpetrators of the holocaust. Therefore they bear the blame also.

Anyone who so much as gave/gives any aid and comfort for the passage and continued deployment of the ACA must bear the blame for it's current and future negative results.

And there will be negative results if those clowns don't get off their imaginary ponies and decide that what we're telling them is the truth and that they will be out of office and out of town if they continue to allow it to continue.

She at $10/hr is allowed to yes/no on the caller's health care. Screw "fairness" the rules are the rules, and she's the ball-buster Dungeon Master smacking them with the rules. No shortcut, no exception, new edition of the rules, and what she says goes. Wanna appeal to the supervisor? Fine, now the caller gets to see what REAL obstructionism is like.

And there is no further appeal, to the doctor, to the insurance company, to no one else. Because it's the government. And Magnolia-chan, the $10/hr CSR rep, is telling people how healthy they are allowed to be, and for how much of a payment. That is why we never wanted Obamacare passed IN THE FIRST PLACE!!!

Apologies for getting the occupation of the Holocaust-enabler wrong. It's not a terrible metaphor, if you understand proportion. Magnolia's job in relation to Obamacare is comparable, in terms of proportion, to the train mechanic's contribution to the Holocaust. No one is equivocating Obamacare with the Holocaust. What's being said is that a small contribution to evil IS still a contribution to evil, and deserves to be answered proportionally. You, and those arguing like you, say that the alarm over people "just following orders" is ridiculous because Obamacare is nothing like the Holocaust. Well, you're right. It's not. But it's evil, and these people are enabling it. So they get a pass? And we're also not supposed to be alarmed when a great proportion of those supposedly our fellow countrymen will accept "following orders" as a justifiable defense for ANY level of shitty behavior? Especially in light of the more recent attacks on the 2nd Amendment, and the militarization of law enforcement? It's never a justifiable defense. Understandable, maybe, in some cases. But its never justifiable to contribute to the fucking over of a fellow American for your own gain, no matter how small the paycheck. A few swear words is a small price to pay.

244 If Magnolia doesn't want the abuse she should take up a more honorable profession... like prostitution... where she provides a good or service that people actually want instead of flacking for something where everyone is being forced to comply at gunpoint.  What she is doing is far less honorable than what the typical crack whore does for a living.

If the insurance companies weren't forced to drop non-compliant plans then Magnolia sure as hell wasn't forced to take this job.  She chose to insert herself into things which are none of her business, and get between us and our doctors and insurance companies.  Magnolia does not get a pass for what she is doing.  No one makes her sit there and lie all day.

She can't hide behind the law either.  Just because the law allows something does not mean that she bears no personal responsibility for her actions.  She needs to be ostracized and it needs to be made known to her that what she has done has made her unfit for the company of decent people.

There needs to be a stigma attached to these sorts of jobs just due to the simple fact that the people who take them are doing evil.  There is no upside to pretending otherwise.

"While there was no basis to believe that is the case, a USDA (the currently shuttered agency that administers the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program) memo obtained by the Crossroads Urban Center in Utah carries in it a very disturbing warning for the 46+ million Americans currently on foodstamps.

To wit: "understanding the operational issues and constraints that States face, and in the interest of preserving maximum flexibility, we are directing States to hold their November issuance files and delay transmission to State electronic benefit transfer (EBT) vendors until further notice." In other words, as Fox13News summarizes, "States across the country are being told to stop the supplemental nutrition assistance program for the month of November, pending further notice.""

Basically no one gets SNAP in November if the gov is still closed?  Burning times?

Bureaucracy reigns instead of family, friendship, small-scale commerce, and easy-going traditionalism. This epilogue was Tolkien’s most blatant swipe at the modern world, a world against which Lord of the Rings posits a more old-fashioned, more communitarian ideal—a world where good people still recognize their own limits and understand the need for decency and gentleness, not just political or technical power." http://metaphilm.com/index.php/detail/the-lord-of-the-rings-geo/

293 >>>I have a serious question for you.

Do you believe ObamaCare is evil?

I think "evil" is a word that ought to be saved for truly serious situations.  Satan is evil.  Hitler was evil.  Stalin?  Evil.  Obamacare?  Horrible, terrible, disastrous, misery-inducing, destructive...and yet I question whether using the actual term "evil" is correct.  I really think all the other adjectives I just used (and which I believe wholeheartedly) are sufficient.

Generally I can think of tons of legislation that is stupid, selfish, dumb, destructive, counterproductive, blinkered, ignorant, etc. etc.  Stuff that I HATE HATE HATE (and I HATE HATE HATE Obamacare and would repeal it tomorrow sight unseen if I could, no questions asked).  But I find it very hard to think of any legislation that could be justly characterized as outright EVIL.  Maybe the Fugitive Slave Act.  Or Wilson's re-segregation of the federal workforce (a truly barbarous, yet curiously unremarked upon, low-light in 20th Century history).

Legislation can have terrible, destructive, hateful effects that I am vehemently opposed to, and yet it's still not evil.  Rape is evil.  Murder is evil.  The Holocaust, the Gulags, the Dallas Cowboys -- that's true evil.  Just because Obamacare is a disaster that threatens to bring misery to the entire country and massively swell the size of government, that doesn't mean it earns entrance into that truly exclusive tier.  It just means that it's a disaster that threatens to bring misery to the entire country and massively swell the size of government, which is ample enough reason to loathe it.  It doesn't have to be "evil" for someone to oppose it with all their might.

Well we're just going to have to agree to disagree here, then.  I approach this from a different worldview than you do, obviously, and neither one of us is going to convince the other one that they're wrong.  And that's okay.  I don't need to play rock'em sock'em robots about this, really.  I do think, however, that the concept of "evil" is a very, very serious thing and I feel that it cheapens it to apply the term too easily.  The New Deal was disastrous.  The Great Society was disastrous.  Obamacare is disastrous.  All three of them have legitimately hurt this country in long-lasting, seemingly permanent ways.  But not even that is enough to get them across the "EVIL" threshold for me.  A law discriminating against Jews on the basis of their race or religion (a la the Nuremberg laws) -- now THAT is an evil law.

335 Obviously Magnolia the scrunt isn't comitting the same evil as the Nazi train conductor. But the comparison is apt. The train conductor had a job. Those jobs were volunteer jobs. As were SS guard jobs at the camps. Nobody was forced to be part of the Holocaust. Magnolia is also not forced to work for Obamacare. She is willingly doing it and most likely is very enthusiastic about it. She is helping Obama destroy the country. Whether she's making $10 or $100 an hour is quite irrelevant as well.

Posted by: Mr. Moo Moo at October 16, 2013 01:02 AM (fSKOI)

The devil is in the details. For every space worthy toilet seat costing $900 is pages and pages specification on what that seat will be composed of, the assembly process and how it will be packaged.

Want to streamline the process and save billions? Write a simple requirement sheet and hand it out and let the contractors decide how and what to use to build it.

Instead of some ring knocker in the Puzzle palace who needs to justify his existence writing requirements for stuff that is either impossible to find, is expensive to make or only is made twice a year and require manufacturing processes that are obsolete or less cost effective.

Top that off with a packaging requirement that adds 5% to the cost for 0 gain in product use or storage life.

337 I'd say a Bronze Plan for $400 a month with a 60/40 payout after a 8K deductible is pretty evil if you're stuck with that and you get injured. It's a pretty evil thing to inflict on someone who had a 90/10 plan after 2500, for 200 a month.

It is the procurement process that is costly. Not to get into any details since the NSA is listening of course, but I was involved in a project that was supposed to manage the sale process for this one company that sold some pretty cool shit to the Navy. It took me 3 months to get my head around just what they do at a high level and another 3 months to fully understand. And then it took about 9 months to build out the process. And 30 years ago the same thing would have been done with a filing cabinet, some index cards, and a project status white board.

Went to work in the national security sector instead for several years.  (Without getting specific, the intel community.)

I wanted to give something back to my country, and when one route was cut off, I took another available one.  I'm no hero (oh, the stories I could tell...) but I'm proud of the little bit I did.  Doesn't mean I can hold a candle to military people, but I didn't just toddle out of a nice college into a gold-plated law school and a BigLaw career either, as I suspect most people around here think I must have.

Some of us left the service prior to 20 years (I did 13, honorable discharge, no nonsense, was my call).

Unless you're willing to write that same check?  You're not thinking before you type.  And it's not about "oh look at us! we're special!"  It's about "fuck me!  Staff sergeant!  Two assholes 300 meters 10 O'clock... Not really.

Not when you examine what's been happening in the UK and the NHS for the last 20-30 years.

See, they've been at it the longest. They're like a preview of where we could be going.

They're letting people die because some doctor decided they haven't go long to live so they stop treating them and just fill them full of pain killers.

Plus the rationing of care is a death sentence for some.

Who's to say what will soon be the criteria for getting the care you need if everyone's entitled?

Instead of letting the market work and cause the price to go down, we're going to regulate it and either the quality will go down or the price will go up or both.

Sounds like a lot of people are going to die.

But it will happen slowly enough that maybe they can hide the truth.

That's what they did to the Kulaks in the Ukraine. They wouldn't sell them seed then they stole what crops they had so they starved to death.

That takes quite awhile and isn't as painless as it may seem.

Millions died.

389 356 Listen to you lucky bastards, talking about retirement. Retirement? Ha! I'll work 'til I'm dead. That's what my generation is getting stuck with. Fuckin' Boomers, man. Posted by: Jeff B. Then you'll love this true story from my family. A much older cousin of mine retired a few years ago. He had started out as an engineer (soil sciences) and then slowly ascended to a high-paying position where he was sort of a manager/advisor/consultant, making VERY nice bucks. So he reached a certain level of financial comfort and retired happily at 58. His wife kept working as a schoolteacher, out of choice. They didn't even need her salary. Having retired, he decided to make his lifelong dream come true: A cabin in the woods. So he bought a BIG piece of property, in the woods. Fairly cheap, for its size. And then he ordered a pre-made "cabin house" that they ship to you disassembled - huge real logs/trees that fit together perfectly into an actual house-house. Still pretty cheap. And then -- everything went to shit. Why? Because his property was in a Northern California county controlled by environmentalist maniacs posing as bureaucrats and politicians. (The county shall remain unnamed, but it was one of these: Mendocino, Marin, Sonoma, Humboldt, Napa, Lake, Solano. That area.) He went through absolute HELL trying to get permission to assemble his log cabin. Beyond imagining. The issues swelled and became entangled with other issues, and before he knew it he was financially on the hook for sewage projects and landslide abatement and flood this and forest that and endangered species here and there and neighbors suing and the county suing and drainage and watershed and viewshed and on and on and on and on for YEARS. When it was all over he was FLAT BROKE having to pay for fines and fees and lawyers and abatements and land use blahblahblah from here to kingdom come. The eventual cost of simply "getting permission" to assemble his cabin was TWENTY TIMES the combined cost of the land and the cabin itself. By the time he moved in, he was on the verge of bankruptcy. So now -- he had to UNRETIRE and he has to make a crazy long-distance commute from his isolated log cabin back to the city to earn enough money just to stay afloat. If his wife hadn't kept her job, he would have lost the land and everything. That's life in Beautiful California©!

393 381 Yeah, people who are bringing up the Holocaust and/or Nazi Germany when talking about Obamacare should probably tone it down just a tad, I think. As I read most every thread that goes this way, it usually starts when someone says "just following orders" and is immediately scolded for bringing up Nazi Germany. Even though they never said Nazi Germany. So the pinch-faced scolds can get bent. If people don't want it brought up, I'd suggest not bringing it up. Here's a hint: robotically "just following orders" can be a bad thing, even outside the context of Nazi Germany.

The with holding on taxes.
Who allowed Medicare and Medicaid.
Who made big bucks during the cold war with government contracts.

Who double dipped with pensions from the military and private and topped it off with social security.

Who had millions in property and stocks and bonds.

And passed the cost on down to us.

He kept trying to tell them the actual FACTS about the geology of his location but they just would not listen, and treated him like an infection. Infuriating simpletons were trying to lecture HIM about drainage and land use and water tables and so on, when he was a world-class expert in those exact fields. I don't' know that Obamacare itself is like the gas chambers, but the death panels are.  The death panels are exactly that.  And they voted for them even after they knew about them.

The way the Democrats have become fascists in the last 5 years... I think they are capable of anything.

The way their first impulse is to dehumanize every dissenter and all gang up and basically make sure nobody would dare think a Republican is a human being with a right to an opinion.  With a right to even live.

They are just like all people at war.  They couldn't kill you unless they decided you were less than human.  That is how it is done.  That is why they immediately call names, it makes you less than human.

I have Pyle's books, read them in hard cover when I was about 10 years old.  Got an original 1st edition of Mauldin's Stars and Stripes Willie and Joe cartoons in hard cover too.  Read that about the same time back in the 1960's, along with Maj DeSeversky's book that was full of warnings about what was coming.

Honestly, I don't mean to insult, I really do not.  I lost 34 friends and associates when Yukla-27 went down on an intercept rotation chasing Russian Bear-H's.

I sped through the streets of Riyadh like a madman driving my detachment commander to the air base in 1994.

Was humbled to meet (then) TSgt Wilkinson when he came to my base to recruit PJs.

Wept, alone (thankfully) in the hall of heros the day after they put Randy and Gary's citations up.

Wept, again when Glen died.  Wept, again, when Shannon died.  Wept, again, when Chris died.

Yeah... I guess you're lucky.   I wouldn't trade places with you for the world.  Just fine right here.

428 >>>So, no, "Live at Leeds" was most definitely NOT the blueprint for Led Zeppelin. Perhaps by then LZ was influencing the Who!

Nah.  The Who were playing "Summertime Blues" in concert as early as mid-1967.  (They recorded a studio version in September '67.)  LZ were formed in fall of 1968.  The early Who renditions were a bit prissy, but it had been beefed up into its recognizable Leeds style by May of '68.

It IS safe to say The Who did have some influence on LZ, as they were and remain the greatest "power trio + vocalist" in rock history: guitar/drums/bass + Daltrey/Plant.  But LZ was much more focused on wanky soloing (whether lead guitar or drum), which is something The Who never did live or in the studio.  Page was a lead guitarist at heart, whereas Pete Townshend is arguably the greatest, most innovative rhythm guitarist in rock history -- he played a "rhythm/lead" fusion that covered both bases but also relied on a major assist from John Entwistle (hands down the greatest rock bassist ever, and it's an easy call).

I'm kind of an obsessive scholar of the music of this era.  Sorry.

I was thinking that the Leeds show was from 68...somewhere I have an interview that was published in the mid-80's where Page relates seeing The Who perform Summertime Blues  and saying he wanted to 'capture that sound' or something to that effect.

They tried to pass a state income tax here in Washington 2010. People were all worried about it since the previous income tax proposals died in front of the voters by at least 60-40 margins (many even higher than that), while this one was polling roughly 60/40 in favor. The proponents were saying it was a miniscule tax on the richest people and would only get a "fraction of their income." The anti-tax campaign rightly said it that they won't stop with the richest individuals and eventually it will get everybody.

Evidently our democrat state saw through it. Our final tally was 64% against and 36% in favor of the income tax initiative.

Funny thing is, our state actually passed an income tax measure 70%-30% back in 1932 with FDR's landslide. It was invalidated by the supreme court here. There was much gnashing of teeth by the farmers and the teachers unions (who were for it, not surprisingly).

The insurance geniuses didn't think any farther than the individual mandate when the supported Obamacare's passage. Participation in the exchanges was supposed to be 'like printing money', particularly once it was revealed that 'competition' was going to be limited by county. The premise of Obamacare was that everyone needs health insurance in any case, so the choice not to enroll wasn't taken seriously.

THEY'RE ALREADY ALL COVERED by the other requirements of Obamacare. So not only do they have no motivation to sign up -- they're not required to sign up. Because they already have coverage through mom and/or dad. I guess the answer is that a mysterious sliver of the American demographic -- 27- to 32-year-olds who until now have gone uninsured because they are unemployed -- will now be forced to sign up en masse, fork over all their (nonexistent) income, never get sick or see a doctor, and thereby finance the whole scheme! C'mon, all you healthy unemployed rich 27-year-olds! Get your asses in gear and save America!

One need not be forced the listen to the same overplayed "oldies" over and over again. There's been so much great music created and recorded over the last century that it's essentially infinite!

There isn't much in the way of a filter, anymore, which is part of the problem. It used to be that you had to come up with some solid stuff to get recorded. You could do your own limited run, of course... but, unsold copies of whatever puts an end to that rather quickly. These days anybody can release stuff with little to no cost and it doesn't matter. So, there are decent tracks being done, but they're often lost amongst the noise. Radio doesn't play the part it used to in sifting through what's out there. Venues are not as numerous as they were and it's not as common for acts to hone their chops live regularly anymore. There are some bands/acts out there that measure up, but... IMHO, they would be, at best, middle of the pack, compared to a couple of decades ago. Lower compared to a few decades ago. Competition was fierce back then and that pushed everybody up. Now, there's less push. At least, it seems that way.

Posted by: otho at October 16, 2013 12:20 AM (9gNQd)

472 For sheer volume of free music to listen to, nothing beats the South by SouthWest Collection (SXSW). Every year they release DVDs full of MP3s and it's all free, you can download it all no charge. Tens of thousands of songs.

Also nothing beats it for wasting your time digging through it all looking for stuff you like.

IIRC the larger share could be called rock and punk, frankly because that's most bands that sign up. I couldn't tell you ahead of time what you'd like, and it's not tagged well, either.

But it's huge and it's free.

Is there a regulation than mandates parents cover their children if they aren't dependents on their tax return and aren't subject to their tax liability? Just asking because everyday there is a new unpleasant heretofore unknown "mandate". Also who has to pay a kid's penalty or buy insurance. Ex's fight over who gets to use kids as dependents on the tax return. It is even stipulated in divorces. Is that now going to be re-litigated in family courts as who has to provide/pay for the  insurance since it is tripling in cost. Will it now offset child support or cut it since it can take up most of schmucks income? Are the Earned Income Credit crowd going to suddenly drop their kids to because the penalty will be deducted? I'll stop now because the possibilities of unintended consequences are too great.

We call that the student loan scam...

You know I wish I could say I saw the donks being so flush with money coming back in the 80s with the rise of the GSLs but I didn't catch on to the gag until ~93

494 A $10,000 deductible for people who have never even had that much money? Why have insurance at all? Spend your money on something that has a chance to pay of, like lottery tickets.

"Hey wingnut! this keeps people from going bankrupt! or something"

//Kostardz

of course for the average 27 YO 10,000 deductibles will bankrupt them just as ably as 100,000

Posted by: sven10077 at October 16, 2013 02:36 AM (9jfyN)

496 I've already seen some commentators on news sites and my liberal colleagues at work start saying ACA is really a Republican plan at heart. That is telling. The rubes on the left are starting to panic.

Posted by: Mr. Feverhead at October 16, 2013 02:38 AM (SzAZ7)

497 A $100,000 deductible would be better. You'd get a lower premium. This is an extra tax for people who are bad at math, only it's quasi mandatory.

Posted by: Boss Moss former editor of the Harvard Law Review at October 16, 2013 02:39 AM (a6O1A)

498 Er not commentators.

499 I still get a blast out of even passable bands in small live venues. It does seem that there are less of those nowadays.

Posted by: Mr. Feverhead at October 16, 2013 06:04 AM

It's thin going for even reasonably successful new bands. Pros. Despite a comparitive lack of competition, they might play two or 3 times a week for 3 weeks, then not do any for a couple of months. There just isn't the number and variety of venues to go harder. The guys these days can't wrap their heads around what live work used to be... 6 or 7 days a week, until you dropped. There weren't the restrictions these days, cram 3 bands on the bill, go till all hours.. what's a noise restriction? Another thing that's changed is that they don't do covers, as much. Lack of live hours to fill seems to result in a kind of sound/style/song writing inertia. There isn't as much need to do new things, develop new sounds and even write new songs. Punters only see them infrequently, so the incentive to mix it up with new stuff, well spun covers etc, isn't there... generally. Not a rule.

We should organize raiding parties of people to ask why Obama "the smartest man ever" and speaker Pelousy allowed themselves to get bamboozled by the GOP then?

There used to be this beautiful thing called a market that allowed you to make risk decisions for your own income pool...

it was a glorious time in human existence.

504 Posted by: sven10077 at October 16, 2013 06:44 AM (9jfyN) ~ Indeed, the only thing getting bent down is us.

505 The moving of the goalposts are telling.  The left is so thoroughly disgusting with their talking points...  it's all a game to them.

507 Things to ask Democrats: 1. Do the prisoners at Guantanamo get covered by ObamaCare? 2. Can EBT cards be used to cover $10,000 deductibles. 3. How many government social spending programs have come in on or under projections and why do you think this one will? 4. What do you call a governmental system where one man can change the law by his own decree? 5. Does Obamacare cover injuries American citizens suffer when targeted by drone strikes? and finally, 6. Why are you retarded, sir?

510 I can't help but be reminded of the guy who harassed the girl in the Chick-fil-A line--and at least he did it face to face.

Be better than this. Or if our only course now is to be rude, at least be effective.

This is only embarrassing.

My concern is that it's just a support room supporting dozens of projects.

She may not have known what she was supporting when she signed on (and her job may involve being frontline support/script reader for a handful of things at once.)

Then what? We laugh because her contractor got this contract and now she's hosed?

Mr Feverhead, the rate of exchange is only going south from here. Great idea. Now all you need is a fireproof safe at home to store it. Reminder to self: Buy stock in safe companies.

516 .....And passed the cost on down to us.
Uh, poor you. I'm still paying for your whiny ass. I'm the son of one of the greatest generation from the Depression and the world war. I paid cash for three kids college. I pay the most property taxes in TWO counties. I inherited NOTHING but a work ethic. Get busy and make some money. If an ignorant hick like me can do it surely an intelligent know it all like you can. Just sayin'.

518 I am a conservative and I think your conduct with this person was unacceptable and inexcusable.  Your language was offensive and directed against the wrong person.

I am surprised that you are proud enough of this to post it.

Posted by: paul at October 16, 2013 05:44 AM (exqUx)

519 This was just stupid.  And mean.

The person who's time you wasted had nothing to do with Obamacare and may have even been a red state single mom working two jobs to support her parents and child after losing her husband in Afghanistan.  You knew nothing about the person whom you were berating, but pushed all of your frustrations out on her for nothing more than a blog post.

Conservatives are better men and women than what you've just shown.

On the other hand, she did very well with not falling to your baited, irrelevant attacks, and you should recognize the canned response that you highlighted as both a canned response and a means by which she wanted to get you back on topic.
