(This after midway through the previous decade, the DoD panicked and paid top dollar prices for ammo to resolve a "shortage".)
Of course, they could dispose of the ammo that's in civilian-compatible calibers by auctioning it off to the general public. Who have been suffering through the highest ammo prices in history.
But if they did make it available to the public, then a bunch of you bitter clingers would probably take the ammo and load it in "high capacity magazine clips". Perhaps even fire it from a weapon with "a shoulder thing that goes up".
Sorry, but Your Betters and the Top Men simply can't allow that to happen. The ammo must all be destroyed instead.

So years ago I refused to quit smoking cigars - when liberal asshats would give me shit about it I'd say I'm just doing my part via the S-Chip taxes to help kids get medical care.
Now I'm going to hike over to The Lusty Leopard and if anyone gives me shit about objectifying women I'm just saying that I'm only doing my part to ensure they get a quality college education.

I don't know...on one hand, it's nice to have more scifi movies come out. On the other hand, it's Hollywood and they can fuck up a remake like no one else can. The trailers remind me of Cloverfield and Pacific Rim, both of which were just ok in my book.
We shall see...

One of the things that's driving me apeshit about the latest "illegal aliens need tuition breaks!" bullshit going on in Indiana is the promotion of the lie that white children born in America can all automatically afford tuition to the school of their dreams, and only a "racist" law is preventing little Maria the valedictorian with criminal parents from going to Ball State.
What the actual fuck.

She left her keys in the car while pumping gas??
It depends where you live. I lived in NYC for years where you had to be on constant guard about everything. Then after an interim move I ended up in a seaside town south of Boston. First week there I saw that someone had left a Cadillac running, keys in it, while they went into a store.
Being able to feel safe about that sort of thing is a true luxury. Like not having to lock your doors.

Something like 20% of Americans qualify for a handicapped placard under the rules. 63 million or so.
The ADA was one of the worst laws--naturally, it was passed by Republicans.
There's an crippled attorney in CA that made millions paying people to go to small mom-and-pop stores around the state, pretend they couldn't get in and then he'd sue the hell out of them--all under the ADA.
Those handicapped parking spots piss me off every time I see them--makes me want to go all Cool Hand Luke on them.

It's quite clear that those entrusted to look after our carbon
footprints don't do a very good job with their own carbon footprints.
This
total unseriousness of the problem by those who claim to want to
"force" an agenda on the populace is a strong indicator to me of the
level of "BS" involved.
I advocate for a "BS tax." One that would make it so that most of our politicians would be in jail for tax evasion.

The reason for this one, why they always will keep it above 40%?
Bush.
As soon as it dips below 40%, people will start comparing him to Bush.
Bush on 4/21/2006: 34.8 Approve; 58.8 Disapprove
3/01/06 was the first time Bush dipped below 40% approve.

Williams said that his wife "went to the gas station" this past weekend to fuel her car. He said that "while she's trying to put the credit card in some guy rushes by her, gets in the car and drives off with the damn car."
Williams said his wife's response was, "I wish I had a gun."
Larson responded by saying, "God bless Mrs. Juan Williams," and said Juan should buy her a gun "at the next opportunity."
Follow AWR Hawkins on Twitter @AWRHawkinsI'd wager that Mrs. Williams not only left her keys in the ignition, but left her automobile running (with her purse in the car) while she was sliding her credit card through the gas pump. So had she a gun, I'd bet she'd have left it in her automobile while she pumped gas. How many ladies like she is would actually wear a holster, or even carry her bag out of the car while she messes with the gas pump?
Of course every responsible US citizen has the right to carry, just like they have the right to register to vote and exercise that privilege. But rights and privileges don't equate to skills or intelligent behavior.
"I wish I had a gun," said Mrs. Juan Williams who would have shot the car jacker dead "Because I Could" execute a life for inconveniencing her.
My point, let her eat her own words. SHE can have a gun at will, but WE may not.

I sort of understand part of the reason for Sterling's comments about minorities at basketball games. The unspoken truth about basketball is that with all those high salaried players, it takes more than the "cheap seats" to pay the bills. It takes the largest possible demographic to bring in the sponsors who will pay the bills.
That said, I don't believe a "Black NBA" could keep more than 6 to 8 teams alive for more than 3 years under the best possible scenario.

I had the same thought. Either that, or they were ascribing magical powers to the gun, all she had to do was wave it and the bad guy would have run off. And a fair chance she would have gotten herself killed in the bargain.

The Xbox 360 was launched a year before the PS3. (Sony was committed to Blu-ray playback and couldn't launch until the DRM had been finalized, in addition to production issues on the chip set.) It was in short supply for most of that year, even before the RROD problem started to kick in.
The PS3 got off to a slow start due to the unprecedented high price at the time. The then boss of the US division, Jack Tretton, was famously embarrassed by claiming he'd give anyone a multiple of the retail price if they could find the PS3 in stock anywhere for more than a day, and hundreds of people responded with demands of payment because their local stores had ample stock that hadn't decreased appreciably in quite a while.

The libs LOVE there pet (R)s -Boehner, McConnell, McCain, etc. - because they can control them with the leash of their own corrupted greed and power lust.
The base and I believe the LIVs are waiting for this: actual conservative opposition. For all her failings, Palin gets this and draws fire like a magnet.
The GOP need to quit treating anti-freedom, anti-human proggies like special needs children. Quit giving long boring reasoned explanations for why guns don't jump up off the floor and shoot people, why abortion is murder and why being respected is more imported than being liked in the world.
You can't convince the "true believing" prog-zombies of anything. They don't hear you. They already "know".
Enough reasoned "explanations". Mock their stupid "bogeyman" stories and their stupid, immature, daddy-issues idealogy at every turn for the anti freedom idiocy that it is.

The History of the ADA A Movement Perspective
by Arlene Mayerson
1992
The ADA, as we know it today, went through numerous drafts, revisions, negotiations, and amendments since the first version was introduced in 1988. Spurred by a draft bill prepared by the National Council on Disability, an independent federal agency whose members were appointed by President Reagan, Senator Weicker and Representative Coelho introduced the first version of the ADA in April 1988 in the 100th Congress.
Justin Dart, Chair of the Congressional Task Force on the Rights and Empowerment of People with Disabilities, traversed the country holding public hearings which were attended by thousands of people with disabilities, friends, and families documenting the injustice of discrimination in the lives of people with disabilities.
On May 9, 1989 Senators Harkin and Durrenberger and Representatives Coelho and Fish jointly introduced the new ADA in the 101st Congress. From that moment, the disability community mobilized, organizing a multi-layered strategy for passage. A huge coalition was assembled by the Consortium for Citizens with Disabilities (CCD), which included disability organizations, the Leadership Conference on Civil Rights (LCCR), and an array of religious, labor and civic organizations.
A Viet Nam veteran who had been paralyzed during the war and came home using a wheelchair testified that when he got home and couldn’t get out of his housing project, or on the bus, or off the curb because of inaccessibility, and couldn’t get a job because of discrimination he realized he had fought for everyone but himself – and he vowed to fight tirelessly for passage of the ADA.
After the spectacular Senate vote of 76 to 8 on September 7,1989, the Bill went to the House where it was considered by an unprecedented four Committees [to be passed].
For the first time in the history of our country, or the history of the world, businesses must stop and think about access to people with disabilities.

Interesting about the Title IX thing. I'm generally ambivalent about Title IX, because its effects on sports tends to get overblown, but that's the problem with a law written in the 70s. It's going to be interpreted by this Administration however it wants, and we're going to get more and more thought police enforcement out of many more of these old statutes as time goes on.

“One thing that I know, because I know people who know [Thatcher], is when Sarah Palin first burst on the scene, she wanted to have a meeting with Palin, because she saw raw political talent, but wanted to teach Sarah Palin to do what she did,” Coulter told Geraldo Rivera on his radio show Monday. One can get lost fantasizing about what Thatcher might have taught Palin.
This is the closest I could find to the story I remember. Apparently, the Baroness saw potential in Sarahcuda but wanted her to do the hard work she had done. Learn erudition, read history, train her mind to think sharply, but Sarah was not down for that.
I revere Palin as a hottie and a red meat slinger, but I don't take her seriously as a prospect.
