Want to hear a *national radio sportscaster* speak of that which canÂ’t be spoken, the Chris Dorner Leftwing Manifesto?
Steve Czaban, Yahoo Sports Radio:
ThereÂ’s going to come a time when a shooting takes place and the guy has a right-wing manifesto, and I just want everyone to remember THIS guy. The LEFTIST psychopath who loved Obama, loved gun control, loved everything else, because theyÂ’ll be a right-wing guy, and oh my god, youÂ’ll never hear the end of it. Just for comparison sake. YouÂ’re gonna see that, and I just want you to remember this guy. Because not much has been made of this guy being a lunatic Lefty.
ItÂ’s here is you want to hear it. (Hr 1 Sg 1)
He doesnÂ’t get political often, but when he does, heÂ’s Red State. Support this guy. HeÂ’s probably going to need it.

Are you sure it's a good idea to present an open thread with the theme of Asian pop groups? Because I know AtC and Anna Puma will bring the goods. If I were anywhere that would let me actually GET to YouTube and/or any other fricking video site, I could spend the rest of the day posting links to my favorites.

Jeb Bush's main problem is his last name. The instant he starts looking like a viable candidate, the media will be in full screech mode and wailing about "political dynasties."

From your keyboard to....etc, etc....
It's time for the "Republicans" to cast aside the so-called "leaders" who have tied themselves to the failed mess that has resulted in past fiscal/policy disasters and the unchallenged excesses of the Choom Boy regime and those pathetic losers we have in Congress (McCain, Boner, Bitch McConnell, Cantor, et. al.).
No more Bushes, no Rubios.
The Republican Party needs to hire a doctor to do a crotch check of all future candidates to make sure they have at least a modicum of gonadic development.

Waiting to see if it's Rubio or Jeb. Oh boy.
I'm waiting to see whether I use the noose or the knife on myself.
By this reading, the party's choices come down to either:
(a) A visibly sweaty and unready advocate of a mass immigration "reform" that would enshrine Obama liberalism forever in America, and
(b) Another rancid remnant of the arrogant family who took over the Reagan legacy and recklessly pissed it away.
Wow! I can't wait! This is going to be incredibly awesome!
The noose. Probably the noose.

My understanding was the San Bernadino county sheriff's department had already lost one man (two men shot, one died) from Dorner and they tear-gassed the "cabin".
Tear gas canisters can become incendiary, and that's what started the fire, according to what Mark Furman said on Fox last night.

Referencing the attendance of 102-year-old Desiline Victor, who was invited by the First Lady because of her story of waiting hours in line to vote, Sharpton said: “Here’s a woman that stood at 102 years old, and when he talked about [her], people applauded when she finally put on her lapel [saying] ‘I have voted.’
I have no idea how this woman's story is supposed to be a story in favor of "improving the voting experience." Seriously. My response to it is, "See? She's 102 years old and she did it. Your lazy twenty- or thirty-something ass can do it, too. Quit yer bitchin'."

Was listening to a local talk radio show this morning. The subject of discussion was the fact that, in NH, death by drug overdose has officially outpaced death by traffic accident for at least five or six years. Most of those were prescription drug overdoses from illicitly obtained meds like oxycontin and methodone.
People are self-medicating like crazy, which just leads to more crime as they try to finance their addictions. It's an awful spiral.

I'm not cavalier about the method. I'm just not convinced they decided, "Burn him to death!" I believe the fire was unintentional, at least to that extent. Once the fire started I don't think they were too eager to move in and try to rescue him from it, but given that he was a lunatic gunmen I don't blame them for holding back. The last thing they needed was for anyone else to get shot and potentially killed. If he'd come running out of the house to escape the blaze I'm pretty sure they'd have dog-piled on top of him and taken him into custody; unless he came out guns blazing and they shot him down in self-defense.

The Cops don't get to say "he threatened US! He is DEAD on SIGHT!" or if they do why do we not just turn any felony into a game of duckhunt?

Most people in a burning building are going to try to escape. Dorner didn't. He chose to stay inside. As far as I'm concerned, if that's what killed him then it was his choice. Like I said, I don't believe the fire was intentional, and if it WAS intentional, it was to flush him out, not kill him. The longer he was in there the more chance that someone else was going to get hurt. If they waited until nightfall there would ahve been a greater opportunity for him to escape. The standoff lasted for hours; tossing in the tear gas or smoke canisters or whatever they were was not the first thing the police did. It was a last resort.
Had Dorner run out of the building and they just shot him dead like a dog, without additional provocation, that would be murder. Had he tried to leave the building and they forced him back inside to burn to death, that would be murder. Had he tried to surrender in any way and they didn't let him, that would be murder. As I see it, what happened was not murder.
And if the cabin owner's insurance company doesn't reimburse the owner for the damages, then the state of California should. It was their colossal fuckupery that allowed the lunatic to be on the run and cause so much havoc in that time.

No, the cabin was direct. Surrounding properties would be collateral.
You have a guy who's murdered, I believe, 4 people, holed up in a cabin and firing on officers. Wounding and killing them. He could've have surrendered himself at any point over the last few days or at any point after he was in the cabin. Instead he continues to go after LE. How would you get him out?
Btw, he wasn't murdered by the police. Unless some super stealthy ninja cop snuck into the cabin and chained him to the hot water heater, he could've surrendered at any point once the fire started. He did not.
Like I said, I'd have lit the place up way sooner than the cops did.
Posted by: BCochran1981 at February 13, 2013 08:55 AM (da5Wo)
In FL, the cops criteria on employing lethal force differs from a citizen's in only one aspect -- the cops are allowed to use it to stop a fleeing perp who was committing a "forcible felony" who is believed to be an immediate danger to the public should they get away.
A citizen can pop them in the act to halt the act, but not after they're in the act of fleeing. ex. you could shoot an arsonist starting a fire, but not running away from it. The cops could shoot him running away.

The cops had the situation contained, there was no NEED to burn his ass out.

And as I mentioned above, most people in a burning building -- or a building flooded with teargas or smoke -- are going to leave the building, giving the police a chance to apprehend them. Dorner didn't.

Yea if Mom's out to lunch when her son is holed up in a cabin blasting away at people at what will more than likely be her son's death or at the least his arrest. I think Mom might be a good hint at why Dorner was a psychopath to begin with. I mean think about it. Yea he's a POS but he's still your kid and you're out scarfing down chips and drinking at a restauraunt?

well it certainly truncates things....
so if I "totally not on purpose" light a building it is justification for his death win or lose.
Okay good to know.
I suspect he blew his brains out rendering the mental exercise moot, that said I am very interested that Dorner had less "right to safety" that the left argued for for foreign hostiles in Iraq.

Posted by: Jones in CO at February 13, 2013 01:01 PM (8sCoq)
Actually I think the problem with using history for this kind of example is that history is, by its very nature, a very literature-heavy field. It requires a lot of reading, cogitation, memorization, and explication. You may not get a job in a field related to the medieval era, or even related to history, but you should be well-prepared for any profession that requires the ability to read and absorb a lot of information, understand it, and discuss it in a knowledgable manner.
Now, Medieval STUDIES is different. Anything that has "studies" slapped on there is not, IMO, a legitimate field for a major. Every course you take in college is a "study" in some subject. Simply expanding the term to make it an umbrella under which to fit a bunch of gen ed classes and a few specific courses is a good way to get stupid people to graduate, but it doesn't do much to help them get a career.

Assuming the fire was intentionally set by the cops, it just sets wrong. Even though the asshole is just as dead as if he'd been centerpunched by a sniper or riddled by an entry team, the method matters. It just does.
It matters because we're already living though a continual ratcheting up of the violence of police responses as it is. Every time this happens, the ratchet clicks again. Every time this happens (and because of their new ubiquitiousness) a SWAT call will be more likely to go out on a case that last year would ans should have been handled by a deputy with common sense ans a holstered Glock.

Our country didn’t weather a Revolution, two World Wars, a Civil War, a Great Depression, and countless other political and economic storms, just to be sunk by the dangerous policies of this current administration. We’re stronger than this. As President Reagan said, “I do not believe in a fate that will fall on us no matter what we do. I do believe in a fate that will fall on us if we do nothing.”

The Pennsylvania Democrat is teaming up with the Cartoon Network this week to launch a flag-raising campaign to push for bullying prevention in schools across the country.
Cast members (presumably who are non-animated) from Cartoon Network’s live-action series, “Level Up,” will join Casey at a Philadelphia school Wednesday to launch the initiative.
Later this week, Sen. Casey will take his bullying campaign to the White House, where President Obama will be taking notes on the proper ways to bully Republicans.

According to a blog post on the group's site, supporters had offered the congressman use of RonPaul.org — another domain owned by supporters — free of charge. They also proposed selling RonPaul.com and the group's mailing list to the foamier congressman for a quarter of a million dollars.
"Instead of responding to our offer, making a counter offer, or even accepting our free gift of RonPaul.org, Ron Paul went to the United Nations and is trying to use its legal process related to domain name disputes to actively deport us from our domain names without compensation," the owners write.

Given that those smoke grenades, or tear gas grenades (accounts differ) almost invariably seem to start fires, maybe it's time for law enforcement to begin using smoke/gas devices that don't cause fires? How about small cylinders of a suitable irritant gas kept liquid under pressure, with a device to pop the cap off once fired from the launcher? It can't be that hard to do.

Candy Martin was sitting down for an episode of "Walking Dead" with her daughter when she turned on the news and saw her Big Bear-area vacation cabin surrounded by police amid reports of a shootout involving the wanted fugitive Christopher Dorner.
Her son called police to let them know she was the owner of the 85-year-old cabin, one in a cluster of seven cabins that she owns along California 38 near the community of Seven Oaks. Martin talked to police, telling them the cabins were supposed to be empty Monday and had no cable, phone or Internet service. There were also no firearms inside, she said.
"I was basically in a state of shock," Martin said.
Officers from multiple agencies raced to the scene and continued to surround the cabin. Sources said it was not known if Dorner remained inside or if he fled.
Martin said her sisters spent time in the main cabin over the weekend. She said she wasn't surprised Dorner was able to make his way inside -- the old cabins "are easy to get into," she said.
"It's quite shocking," she said. "I mean, it's good and bad news. If it is him, I hope that they catch him and this whole horrible thing is put to rest. At the same time, who wants this happening on their property?"

Honestly, as the son of a former LEO, I could give two shits about what happened to Dorner. He made his bed.
Happy Ash Wednesday, dickfuck. Enjoy the barbed cock of Satan.

OK, then where's the line?
I agree that police departments are getting far too militarized, calling out SWAT teams for routine warrants.
That wasn't the case here though. Dorner refused to surrender and fired at the police. A police sniper shooting him on sight- would that have been OK? How about breaking in the door? Tearing down a wall? Flash bang grenades? Smoke grenades?

Zeetsþ@zitopapito : Lets not conveniently forget that #dorner tried the legal and moral route multiple times before taking things into his own hands

They could have quite simply, and quite safely, surrounded the house with armed men behind cover, and with armored vehicles, and simply waited him out. His options would be starve or die of thirst, die by his own hand, come out with guns blazing and be shot down, or surrender.
The cops are supposed to bring suspects in for trial, not act as judge, jury and executioner. I'm not sorry that Dorner is dead; he had it coming, but the way of it is hinky.
Posted by: Alberta Oil Peon at February 13, 2013 09:41 AM (673KB)
Well, I guess I should have added the standard caveats: that Dorner was not surrendering peacefully and so the cops trying to apprehend him had to use force.
But to say categorically that they did not need to shoot him is just something I can't agree with. If the murderous fuck isn't cooperating, toast his ass.

How serendipitous that I was posting M2a1 flamethrower links yesterday morning eh?
The way I finally got the guy to leave my cousin alone was I left a .303 Shell on his dashboard and called him on his cell phone telling him his hat and shirt didn't match.
He got the message and the dead animals stopped.

Hmm, not sure what that has to do with what I was saying. Someone made a blanket statement that they didn't need to shoot Dorner, now maybe there was some circumstance where that was true, like was he surrendering?
From my limited understanding of events, it didn't sound like that, so if he's still a danger, zap him. Can't really get any simpler.

Posted by: t-bird at February 13, 2013 09:47 AM (FcR7P)
How many days would you have them camp outside the cabin waiting for him to starve? Why give him that many more opportunities to slip away at night or pick off more cops?
Any plan that relies on allowing the bad guy to come out shooting at you, with the hope you shoot him first, is a bad plan.
Posted by: Hollowpoint at February 13, 2013 09:48 AM (SY2Kh)
The Police could have secured a perimeter without the ability for the guy to zap them.
They also politely made sure there was no realtime coverage....
yes there was a firefight earlier...
so "firefight" means endless justification for lethal takedown?
Good to know I missed my calling.
If the cops are incapable of establishing a safe perimeter then perhaps we SHOULD replace them with soldiers.
Posted by: sven10077 at February 13, 2013 09:49 AM (LRFds)
"quite simply and quite safely"?
Too bad they didn't have you there taking care of things, huh?

Uh guess what that is not the point in contention kemosabe thanks for playing.
Funny thing that is absolutely true simply being "fired at" in SWA is not justification for Free fire or on call support you have to establish they are AIMING at you.
Like I said I am ON BOARD for the new game let's just establish the "new game" rules.....
if "burn him out, he's dead' is the new and improved "self-defense" laws I'm looking forward to the next time I feel threatened.

Is a justification for the cops using their RV and grenades to start a fire unless I am misreading your intent. Every organized force has rules and doctrine they are expected to adhere to. Considering the entire POINT of argument on the subject is how loose the RoE is getting here in CONUS WRT police work it is not beyond the realm of probity that one should look to what rules Obama I-the wonderful has our MILITARY operating under overseas in a fucking war zone.
How funny is it I am dying for the US military to be authorized to be as weapons free as California Law Enforcement?
That *is* the point stud.

A trial would have been priceless: "You honor, my client is insane. He worships Piers Morgan, and supports Barack Obama. How much more proof do you need?"
Posted by: Alberta Oil Peon at February 13, 2013 09:58 AM (673KB)
No you are a holster sniffer as cops call civilians "totally on their side" in cop bars. It's okay I am a bit of one myself or was prior to Waco and Ruby Ridge. I was told by LE after doing some security work and skip tracing I had too bad a temper to be a cop by cops I respected.
I guess I didn't have the restraint or fire discipline of the California LE community.
You hop in and start batting down people who are concerned that LE has defacto looser RoE than the US Military with "too bad they don't have you there?" as a "totally reasonable" response.
Okay totally reasonable. I'm telling you that 2-4 Inf had to show more restraint in engaging locals sending a donkey with 200 pounds of explosive towards the FOB's main gate than the Keystone Kommandos had to show with a US citizen. The guy went legend as "Donkey Bomb Killer" on the gate guard.
We have lost too many military people so the assholes who sport "CoEXIST" bumper stickers could preen about their superior morality, and if God forbid someone not join in on granting the LE community "kill 'em all and let God sort 'em out!' RoE with US citizens they're "out of control" whatevers....
well no....there's either due process or there's not, and there's either reasonable levels of force expected from LE or there's not.
and the answer is "there's not" evidently.
It's all good....I just don't want to hear it the next time a cop kills a dog, goes rogue and serial killer like the highway trooper sentenced to death this year in Florida for his serial killing the homeless and such.....
basically sneeze at a cop you have the mark of Cain but engage in a lawful shoot against a person fitting Dorner's profile as a civilian and the usual suspects will try to shake you down or make you bear the mark of cain.
I grew up in the district next to an asshole politician DA he lobbied and had self-defense law changed in Dayton to where you had to leave the house unless they were burning it down and had NO right to self-defense through his prosecutorial decisions....turns out he felt that *he* was entitled to shoot at burglars though and he had a 9mm Beretta in his house.
There's either "law' or there's "not" none of this "I am a more special pretty pony" crap that is being mainstreamed.

I'm glad he's dead if LAPD didn't burn a wounded hostage to death or something God forbid. A trial would have been nice to expose how batshit crazy the left has gotten. Your jibe is a funny one.

I did not intend for you to feel singled out.
The fact is we are more generous with loose RoE against Americans than foreign nationals.
I am reflecting and pondering what that means.
Have a nice day.

I've become much more callous since last November. I freely admit it Seeing this maniac become lionized by the loony left set me off. I'm giving them a taste of their own fucked-up medicine.
And again, as the child of a LEO, I took it a bit personally that Dorner klilled a cop's child and her fiancee. Again, fuck him. I hear what you're saying about tactics and such but I'm not losing sleep over it.

Root Boy Slim: The youtube video prompted me to explore if Root Boy had a wiki page. At the bottom of the wiki page is a reference to Root Boy's 5th anniversary show at the PsycheDelly in Bethesda in 1982. My strongest memory of that show was the girl fight that started in front of us when one girl accused another "you're f*cking my boyfriend". They proceeded to battle which included one pulling down the tube top of another whose ample bosom was enjoyed by all us 19 year olds. (Maryland drinking age at the time was 1
