Two Classics From Glenn Beck [OregonMuse]

OK, so I know that the opinions about Glenn Beck on this blog are decidedly mixed. But even so, here he's mercilessly mocking Keith Olbermann, and it's absolutely brutal. If this were an actual, real-life flogging, Keefums would look like Jim Caviezel in 'The Passion'. Although in Olbermann's case, never was there more of a pompous buffoon who deserved it more.

When I first listened to this, I walked around the house saying "Brr-rrr-rrrrrrrr-eittttbarttt! Tell me about that scoundrel Brr-rrr-rrrrrrrr-eittttbarttt!" over and over again until Mrs. Muse told me to STFU.

And below the fold, Beck's classic post-election gloat-fest from 2010. You can skip the cheesy intro, and pick it up around the 1:25 mark.

As with ace, the republican party is dead to me now. However, we now know the reason the tea party was absent in 2012 was because of IRS intimidation, which continues to this day. The dems have found out they can use the tools of government to crush opposition. They've finished their long march through the institutions. The fight is over.

Sorry for the gloominess--just got done with a week of travel where, because I was unwilling to put my hands up in front of a government goon and have a naked picture taken of me, I got felt up instead by some TSA window-licker.

19 The giggle-fests on his program was one of the reasons I stopped listening to Beck's show. The endless, never-getting-to-the-point, easily derailed assertion was another. The fact that his show was taken off local radio was probably the big reason, however.

He's ever so slowly turning to a stance of active rebellion against this government. Having a national radio show I know that, under the law, he can't really call for it, but I feel there's going to come a day when he pulls out the stops and starts calling for it. Not for violence, but for a disruptive rebellion.

I sense the same from Rush. I always have expected it from Levin, God bless him.

Hannity will keep reminiscing about Orin Hatch.

Probably no outcry. There is barely a national whimper regarding the IRS now. Almost nothing when the data was turned over to Pro Publica or whatever that organization was. And it is clear to all who will look that this was done to influence elections. Intimidation and silence comes before "political" crimes.

48 Having finally finished the clip (connectivity issues): To be moderately fair to Olbermann, if you study WWI (meaning you study Western civilization) you will be at least marginally familiar with the Dreyfus Affair. Looking at my copy of "Guns of August", the index shows the event is mentioned in three different pages. I've never read "The Proud Tower", but it surely must go into greater detail. I myself was aware that the affair existed since before high school, though it was probably a long time before I knew anything in depth. I can't remember now where I did so--it might have been an NR or WS article from five-eight years ago. And now back to my ignorant mouth-breathing Tea Party haze.

I don't listen to conservative talk radio anymore for entertainment. I listen because they give me the true nature of what's happening in my country now. They are the real newscasters.

They also give me, as does this blog, the feeling that I'm not alone in these times of America's deliberate destruction. They feel what I feel.

I'm not going to listen to Beck, but are you saying the topic was books by Barbara Tuchman? I think I've read every one of her books, and would highly recommend them, but I don't recall all the details.

The Dreyfus affair was quite a few years before WWI.

Is Olberman being criticized for not knowing about it?

Most of the enemies of the State will behave properly with the IRS, Obamacare panels, FEC, EPA, OSHA, DEA, etc. breathing down their necks. Then there are the enemies who can be handled (or, more often, discouraged into passivity) by whipping up the mob, by threats against livelihood, property, or even life and limb. Who needs the State when you've got a legion of brown shirts (principally the media) to do the job? Next on the agenda will be hate-speech laws. All of the chic nations have them, y'no. We're a long, long way from arrest and imprisonment. It probably won't even be necessary.

Too many GOP progressives (especially the leadership). Another element of government Beck has been warning us about. They will team up with dems in any way poliltically possible to quash the conservative message.

137 I received a copy of Beck's 'Agenda 21' as a Christmas present. I've never bought or read any of his books, and was not eager to read it, so it was left lying around for 6 months or so. When I hit a brief dry spell in reading material, I picked it up and gave it a go. It proved to be a sort of post-Republic, post-capitalist story, where all of the citizens were rounded up in camps to accommodate the 'common good'. The primary responsibility in the camps was to produce energy. Individuals had to produce X quantity of energy in order to receive food.

It was all very similar to such stories. What was most disturbing was the description of how quickly it came about, and how little resistance there was. The other disturbing factor was how quickly history was re-written. One generation does the job.

Not a great book, but a reminder of how things might be, to a greater or lesser degree. I would not buy the book, but on the other hand, would encourage others to read it if a copy falls to hand.

I will say this, every time I hear a radio spot by The Partnership for Sustainable Communities, it gives me the creeps.

Sons and Daughters of American Liberty will always make better soldiers than what the Left will have (and they will have some good stock in certain demographics. I don't agree on either case. The big "L" Libertarian Party runs someone for President every election and is usually stockpiled by crackpots. CATO is little "L" libertarian. As for Heritage they are hardly a wing of the Republican party. Have you read their site lately? They attack Republicans now almost as much as the Democrats.

I was in bed with her and praying and singing songs to her the night before she passed. At one point she tried to say something and I leaned over to see what she wanted, she kissed me six or seven times and I held her hand and told her she was going to go home to God soon and she smiled. I think she was waiting for the Last Rites. I called the nursing home that day and told them to get a priest. One couldnÂ’t make it that day, he came on Tuesday. She passed right after he gave them to her.

285 I don't think anyone here worshipped Romney, not the way Obama acolytes make him into the faux messiah. I think he could have run a much better campaign but I think he was a decent honorable man of faith who loves the country and genuinely cares about people. I can't say the same about Obama. Peggy Noonan has an article in the WSJ today about how team Obama made Romney into an evil Ritchie Rich. She says the Republicans have to fight just as dirty. That makes me sorry that anyone who has to run against Democrats has to be ruthless but I think she's correct

291 Stealin food reminds me of my mother. She had multiple brain surgeries for a huge but non-malignant brain tumor, which left her unable to walk and with some cognition problems. (She couldn't understand the passage of time, for example, so if you left her alone for 5 minutes she would get in a panic because she thought hours had gone by. On the other hand, she would think that it was almost spring when it was late fall.)

Anyway, we got her into the Methodist Home, which was an excellent facility. We could bring her to our homes for birthdays, holidays, and Sunday dinner. They had a beauty shop with free hair-do every week, frequent field trips in a special handicap van to see Christmas light, fall leaves, etc., and special activities all the time, like crafts, sing-alongs, and such. It was very good for her as she had become sort of a recluse living at home.

However, her Depression mentality kicked in, and she would wheel herself to the snack kitchen and steal bananas. Lots of bananas. And hide them in her room. My sister and I used to go visit on weekends and one of the things we always did was throw bananas away. The nurses knew she did it and just let her go, as they knew we would take care of it.

I wanted that version of the song for her but I didnÂ’t know how. I used to buy pastry from the local bakery & weÂ’d eat it together.

296 That's wonderful you could do that; I probably made her life more pleasant. There was an old gentleman in the nursing home who used to sit very depressed and quiet but when we sang "The Old Rugged Cross" or "Amazing Grace" he would know the words. They were having a music program one day and the group did, "Let Me Call Your Sweetheart" and one of the people visiting her mom got him to dance. I think he thought he thought it was his deceased wife. Amazing
