7 CBS shows communist propaganda every day. My wife watches Amazing Race, and she couldn't even remember what could have been so offensive (I caught the beginning where they issued their apology and asked what was up). I think AR is not much longer for this world- they keep stepping on their own dicks. They did something similar a couple seasons ago, I think. The problem is that they're giving international exposure to these third-world shit-holes and they never think "Hmmm, are the people in charge here going to use this to their best advantage? And is their best advantage our best advantage." It's almost like they run an international race and don't have anyone on staff who bothered to learn the history of the 20th century or even brush up a little on international relations.

9 I think that Pressdent Obama should do what that Cyprus place is doing. We should make anybody who is rich give up 50% of there savings to help us poor and suffering because of Bush. Bush lied and the rich mades lots of money and should have help the county now. Everyboddy whould have a fare chance in this cuntry and Pressdent Obama should see too this goal because it is only fare. This place would be grate if peeples were only allowed to keep some of what they earn and the rest go to the good of the community like they do in Europe. Peeples in Europe our happy and live longer then greedy selfish Americons. The Peeple of BRattleboro thinks that we are know beeter then a person in Africca and everyone ones should be getting free hellth care and stuff. 20 Cyprus To Steal Up To 40% From Bank Accounts From the Reuters piece on this: Deposits above 100,000 euros in both banks, which are not guaranteed under EU law, will be frozen and used to resolve Laiki's debts and recapitalize Bank of Cyprus through a deposit/equity conversion. This is why buying into international treaties and policies are bad for America. Read the fine print. And, I wonder, even though Britain is part of the EU, but not the Euro, if this pertains to them as well?

If you go by the coverage, it sounds like Russian mobsters will have 40% of their bank accounts stolen. If you read what is actually happening, it's everyone over 100,000 Euros will lose 40%. That's an entirely different matter. I would presume that there are some people in Cyprus who have over 100,000 Euros in the bank who aren't Russian mobsters. Congrats! Being a patriotic citizen and staying in Cyprus and working your ass off to be a success just resulted in nearly half of your life savings being stolen. Have a brownie. I'm still trying to get my head around banks just suddenly closing for a week. Did debit cards still work? What about bank issued credit cards? I almost never have actual cash on me and if I woke up this morning to news that all ATMs were down, it would be an enormous problem if I could not also use my debit card. Hell, there was an entire episode of Mad About You centered around what happens when you don't have cash and can't use your plastic. There's a bit in an old Judith Krantz novel that stuck with me (other than the smut). A very rich woman is in her accountant's office saying she needs $6 million in cash. He explains to her that she doesn't have that and her reply is so I'm broke then. He then explains no no no you're worth tens if not hundreds of millions of dollars you just can't get your hands on it right now. She replies so I'm broke. She leaves and he ponders what she said and then sends his assistant to the bank to get him some cash. Just in case. That whole leaving money under the mattress thing is looking better by the second.

Stegosaurus had sex in the missionary position to stop them from being castrated, according to a new study.

Heinrich Mallison, a scientist at the Museum of Natural History in Berlin, tested out the theory by designing computer models. He found that males would have 'risked castration' from the deadly spikes on the female's hips if they tried to mount from behind.

He said: 'These prickly dinosaurs must have had sex another way. Perhaps the female lay down on her side and the male reared up to rest his torso over her. 'Other species would have used different positions, like backing up to each other.'

That's what I've assumed as well.

Just read the headlines.

Wait, mandatory AIDS testing? Seriously? The cheap test has something like a 1% False positive (if memory serves.)  That's not awful for things like blood donor tests and people already at risk for aids, but for a general population that's a miserable rate.

The added costs due to false positives would be staggering.

I actually have a friend banned from giving blood because he came back positive for AIDS.  Dude's a seminarian, trust me if he got AIDS it's a miracle.  His family doc actually laughed when he brought in the letter (which apparently came with a public health requirement to get a second test.)

Needless to say it came back negative.

The strategic romance ended, and it has nothing to do with the Marmara incident. As early as 2004 Prime Minister Erdogan called Israel a terror state, and from there things deteriorated to the claim that Zionism is a crime against humanity. When my oldest stepson bought his first truck, I had to inform him of all the fees and taxes he would have to pay to keep ownership of it.  You should have seen the confused and shocked look on his face.  He had no idea.  He simply thought paying the price for the truck and the bi-yearly insurance premiums was it.  I had to remind him of the property taxes, tag fees, etc.  He was pissed, but he woke up.

I suspect a lot of youth simply have no idea what is going on and how this country really works.  If they only knew they could be doing that much BETTER if the govt had a smaller hand in how their money was taken from them, they'd be lighting fires yesterday.  I wholly support the idea of NO WITHHOLDING and then having the local, state, and fed bill you for all the taxes you owe each pay period.

Let them see the gross pay figure and the tax bill whittling it down to their net pay.

Some of what you are suggesting isn't exactly correct.  The  number of "false positives" are exceedingly rare, and have to do with things that are most likely very serious health conditions themselves.

What most people misunderstand is that the HIV anit-body test must ALWAYS include a second test if the first one comes back  reactive.  The first test is designed to be overly sensitive.  The second one is designed to be overly specific.  No credible testing source claims anyone is "positive" UNLESS AND UNTIL both tests confirm it.

As to your seminarian, one of the dirty little secrets is how much seminaries have become hotbeds of homosexual activity.  The number of Catholic priests with HIV and AIDS is  of a significantly higher percentage than the public in general.

It's painful  to acknowledge, but it's true.

Huh, guess I'm not the only PhD with a thesis in visualizing dinosaur sex.

I've always wondered how a brontosaurus laid her eggs. Her skeletal structure, and leg joints suggested that they couldn't squat, and never laid down, which means her eggs would have exited the Mrs. at about 15 feet AGL. Some experts have suggested that they had an extendable snootch, through which the eggs would slither to the mud and dino poop nest below.

I guess the closest thing we have like that today would be Helen Thomas, which also might explain why the noble brontosaurus went extinct.

154 Yeah, one of my favorite Cosby Show episodes was when Theo wanted to move out on his own and the mom and dad decided to role-play it with him for a while.

I remember that one!

Dad sits Theo down and has a talk about how he's going to support himself.  He has a fist full of Monopoly money given to him to demonstrate his weekly pay.  Theo says he'll get a job working as a garbageman, like a "regular person".  Dad takes a few bills, saying it's taxes.  Theo says he'll eat only baloney sandwiches, takes a few bills back from dad.  Dad asks him if he's going to be married and living with his wife.  Theo says yes.  Dad takes the entire stack of bills from Theo's hands, pointing into his empty palm:  "Regular people".  Theo with the surprise face.

I defy you to find an example (without taking something out of context or ignoring obvious sarcasm) in this thread. We do think it's kind of funny that Russian Mobsters (who already stole that money) are having money stolen from them- that's not support of the move but enjoyment of the suffering of some Very Bad People. Of course, you have to have enough neurons to form a synapse to understand the distinction there, so it's no surprise you're having a hard time.

If the Fed Government here tried that, you'd find people from this very forum among the first raising protest. The vast majority of people whose money is being stolen are being royally screwed and there is no excuse for it. On the other hand it is well known that the Russian mob (and corrupt officials) really like hiding money in Cypriot banks. So when those people take a hair-cut, I can sit back and laugh. It's hard to go wrong with an older Smith and Wesson (without the lawyer lock) if you're looking for inexpensive but good.  New and used Rugers take second place IMO.  Avoid Taurus and Charter (again IMO).

CDNN often has used  Smiths for short money.

This Seems Ill Advised

I think the tensions on the Korean peninsula are getting dangerously short shrift in the MFM (like that's anything new).   Yes the Norks are an embarassingly inept    dictatorship, but    their pudgy Doughboy of a "leader" is both green enough and hotheaded enough to do something profoundly stupid that has disastrous effects on SoKo, the United States, and/or other allies in the Pacific.

I can just picture Pudgy Kim trying to launch a warning ICBM over Seoul, his scientists miscalculating the required fuel ratio, and BOOM!  Instead of sailing over the SoKo capital, it lands right smack dab in the middle of    the   Gangnam   district,   killing heaven knows how many people.     So while   Unni* may not actually WANT a full-fledged war,    I can see him and his bumbling party members managing to trigger one purely by accident.

*If you're familiar with Korean, you know that "unni"     ("older sister")     is a term generally used    by a younger female    to     address      a    slightly older   woman  .      I think that      makes it the perfect descriptor for their roly-poly new dictator dujour:   Kim Jong Unni.   I'm sure he'd love being called a girl.   *snort*

I'd be hard pressed to name a good Jim Carrey movie, period, with the exception of the first Ace Ventura (yes, I STILL think it's funny, so shush!).

That first Ace Ventura is a classic, Cameron Diaz has still never had a role she was as smoking hot in as she was in The Mask, Dumb and Dumber had a lot of pretty funny lines, and were it not for Jim Carrey's Riddler, Batman Forever may have actually been worse than Batman and Robin, if that's even possible. I agree with earlier advice on ex-police S and W, and Ruger. But if you're looking for something "a little less," you might look at the long-Colt Uberti replicas. Cowboy action guys usually start with these, and then go one of two ways: improve the Uberti, or trade up to an actual historic piece. So, you just make friends with a cowboy shooter (not that hard to do), and ask around in their league.

In a continuing series;
SIL still hasn't found the phone she lost somewhere in her car, Phone co traced it and her movements and the phone went the same places. Not looking for her.
MIL using up all her phone minutes trying to micromanage whole family while stuck in Detroit stuck inside because it's too cold there, since the  Aunt died everyone is trying to get their hands on her house and life insurance. MIL wants her share worse than crazy uncle.
Crazy uncle still grasping at straws trying to delegitimize Aunt's adopted daughter from inheriting anything. Thinks she wasn't legally adopted because Aunt wasn't legally married (doubtful) Pretty sad when you see someone's mind disintegrating in real time with greed.
BIL gitting uncomfortable with parents staying in Detroit , works for GM, wants his life without his mother knowing all about it.
Everyone keeps pestering my wife to look this and that up on computer, life ins. etc, flights for parents back home .Hello, we have a decent computer with a dialup connection on a rural road, these illiterates all have iphones, laptops with wifi, sattelite.
SIL pestering my wife to phone about life ins, says no, ok well we'll all come over and do it tonight.
Honestly if we hadn't moved to Canada for 14 years after we got married and I'd had to live with this clusterf ***  I would have moved or left within 6 months

367 I can see this ending in court and the crazy uncle in a straightjacket. None of them had a clue, they thought that if they didn't tell the adopted daughter  that her mother (the Aunt) died she would never know and they could just get all her property. My wife and I found out her contact info online.

The next thing I have to put up with is them all coming here for Easter Sunday, because they can't go to the MIL's house, she's in Detroit !!! Eleventy !!1
(Always wanted to do that!) The SIl lives there Duh., Its not vacant. Fortunately I have a tooth giving me problems , I would prefer to have that filled or whatever than see any of them. I had to put up baseboards and door casings to make the house look nice for this. They didn't even notice when they came yesterday. Heck they didn't even notice when I cut a window through the living room wall into the entry for light, they though it was a mirror. I want to get a huge stuffed pink elephant
and put it in the living room and see if they notice it. I don't think they'd notice if I moved the house.

368 boyfriend's sister put all the mom's property in her name while she had POA and mom had alzheimers. She doesn't understand why he keeps telling her that she stole all of it. We managed to get his property in my name but had an agreement to pay for it. It's supposed to be his share of the estate, but we don't have any way to clear the title short of probating it. I am really tired of courts and lawsuits.

Nothing brings out the vultures like a death in the family.
