Unions Hurt Detroit, But Crime Killed It

*leaps onto soap box*

DISBAND AND DISMANTLE ALL UNIONS!!*

*leaps down and sprays Teamsters Union in     the face with a fire extinguisher*

As to the crime issue:  just as predators will go after the weak and sick members of a herd,  so too will crime arise when a locality has been crippled by mismanagement   and     sanctioned theft.     But unlike   infirmity   that can't be avoided    in the wild,  union   tyranny could have been choked off years ago.   Now not only    have they    led to Detroit's downfall, but the unions will     be among the scavengers picking at what's left of its corpse.

The unions are as guilty    of killing Detroit as are the criminals.    The unions ARE criminals.

30 What is this "crime" we speak of? It's almost as if "crime" is caused by field mice, or the weather, or asbestos in the buildings. And why are democratically elected civic leaders unable or unwilling to stop "crime", without getting turfed out? The simpler explanation is that they were elected by a people who simply don't rate "crime" very high on their list of priorities. They rate power higher.

Didn't even name names. Manning, in a gender-confused boyfriend-hating phase released hundreds of thousands of documents to Wikileaks, which then got released improperly, putting people in danger the world over. And he didn't even find any "war crimes". Remember that bogus video of "war crimes"? The one where we shot people who were lugging around RPGs? 40 Unions Hurt Detroit, But Crime Killed It I don't think you can say which one "killed it." Unions hurt Detroit by forcing cost of living higher, and burdening the city with bills it couldn't pay. Crime made it even harder to pay those bills as first the Whites, and then the Blacks all left. However- what if you fixed either one of those? If suddenly Detroit had a crime rate more like Dallas, would those Whites and Blacks have flooded back in, or would they have stayed wherever they'd moved? If they don't go back, Detroit still fails. OTOH, if you get rid of the unions, people still aren't going to move back into a crime-ridden city, and Detroit would still have failed. You would have to fix both of those issues pretty much simultaneously (and still go through a long slog while you rebuilt) to save Detroit.

42 EDGARTOWN, Mass. (AP) — President Barack Obama's fourth summer vacation on the Massachusetts island of Martha's Vineyard is humming along with the usual golf games and basketball. But the family vibe is different. For the first time, daughters Malia and Sasha are missing, away at summer camp.

In the meantime, the president is staying at a 5,000-square-foot, $7 million Chilmark home rented from Chicago friend David Schulte and engaging in many of the pastimes that kept him busy during previous family stays on the picturesque island: golf, dining out and basketball.

What lovely little picture the AP paints. Funny I don't remember anyone in the MFM writing such glowing accounts of Bush on vacation. Oh that's right, back then the evil autocrat was on vacation while the nation was suffering

The Los Angeles City Council voted Wednesday to officially create an “urban village” of shops, town homes and a park and gardens to replace Jordan Downs, the notorious Watts housing project. The move clears the way for an up to $1-billion transformation of one of the city’s most poverty-stricken and violent areas.

The idea is to turn the often-dangerous and derelict housing development, built in the 1940s and '50s, into a mixed-income community of up to 1,400 stylish new apartments, along with chain stores and new streetscapes, all designed to attract people of greater means to move into the area and live alongside the cityÂ’s poorest.

Maybe the Japanese could reduce controversy over Yasukuni by changing some of the exhibit commentary.  Start with this one, perhaps, and the Chinese might be less concerned:

"A very short display on the 1937 Nanjing Massacre, when the Japanese army invaded the city then called Nanking, raping, torturing and murdering tens of thousands of Chinese, mentions none of those atrocities. It instead emphasizes that Japanese troops were ordered to observe "strict military discipline" or be severely punished, and shows a picture of what it says are local residents "joyously welcoming the Imperial Troops."'

The best way I can describe it is "bussing version 2.0", as these idiots are convinced that black people should live in areas which are no more than about 13% black and that areas which have high concentrations of one race are examples of racism which has to be combatted. Example - Detroit proper is heavily black, but suburban areas of Wayne County such as Grosse Point are very white. These idiots think that this is due to racism and that people have to be redistributed in order to meet some artificial percentage of each race within an area, such as moving blacks to Grosse Point and white to urban Detroit.

Detroit could be the most desirable city in the country for middle and upper middle class people overnight with a few changes.

Eliminate the public school system and give a pure voucher for $25,000/yr/kid (what they are spending now).  Home schoolers and people who want to band together in small groups for education would flood into the city for that deal.

Adjust the property taxes to match adjoining areas.

Done deal.  Within 2 years, Detroit would be a thriving city.

From the Mediaite link in the sidebar RE: the rodeo clown "incident":

"Now that the White House has weighed in on the incident via an official spokesperson, and their response was to lament on how the incident reflects negatively on the state of Missouri, the only conclusion we are left to draw is that this White House condones the absurdly defensive overreaction. This is what anyone who dares mock the president is due. This is a disturbing and, frankly, terrifying development."

I agree, but I don't think    we   should be calling it a defensive reaction.    It's offensive, as in offensive to    anyone who values the First Amendment.  We shouldn't be letting the lunatics on the left continue to treat this like a legitimate "cause."   We should be mocking them, shaming them, and making them feel two inches tall.

But, y'know how it goes.   Stupid party.

In other "raaaacism" news:

With support from the Obama administration, organizations of Chinese American businesses and suppliers of shark fins asked a federal appeals court Wednesday to halt enforcement of a California law banning the possession and sale of the main ingredient of shark fin soup, a traditional Chinese delicacy.

Opponents, led by Bay Area Chinese restaurants and their suppliers, argued Wednesday that the law is discriminatory and conflicts with federal management of ocean resources.

Chinese Americans are "the only community affected," Joseph Breall, lawyer for the plaintiff told the Ninth U.S. Circuit Court . He said statements by some legislative supporters of the 2011 measure showed an intent to discriminate. For example, Breall said, one lawmaker observed that "we can't police the seas, but we can police Chinatown."

When I lived in Milwaukee, white proggs would shake their heads sadly as they told me they were the most segregated city in the nation.

I liked to ask them when they were going to flee their lily-white 'burb and move to the shitty neighborhood where I worked...oh, no, not them. Other people should be forced to move.

One couple actually did move to the Mexican part of town--lovely old Victorian homes cheap--and moved out of the county after their first kid. Not sure if it was the second hit-and-run on their car or the third break-in that was the final straw.

My neighborhood would be considered "integrated", as it is about 60-40 to 50-50 white to black, as opposed to being heavily skewed toward one race or another. There are few tensions, if any, in the neighborhood in part because just about everyone is living there for the same reason, which is access to the best school system within Louisiana.

I totally agree with you.

My plan of eliminating the public school system and issuing pure vouchers is designed to flood the city with urban pioneers from the suburbs, who wouldn't dream of going anywhere near Detroit without this incentive.

As they move in, the current residents will be priced out of the city and end up scattered to different downriver suburbs or out of state.

But wouldn't it be better to contain the turds in Detroit proper, while just focusing on the burbs? Scattering the turds from one big bowl into each neighbors bowl of ice cream doesn't seem like a winning strategy.

That said, I have known of areas in expensive California where new immigrants, or native born white people for that matter, moved into a ghetto and gentrified it, largely because they could not afford the nicer burbs.

What they had to do:

1. Private School or homeschooling arrangements for their kids.

2. Arm themselves.

The Commiecrats, of course, discourage both.
