Waitress Who Wasn't Discriminated Against Because She's a Lesbian Now Discriminated Against Because She's a Liar

Fired from the restaurant where she served as a waitress and moonlighted as a Hate Crime Hoaxer.

At the New York Post:


Dayna Morales, 22, was finally canned from Gallop Asian Bistro in Bridgewater — nearly a month after she made national headlines over what’s likely a hoax.

The restaurant announced her termination on Facebook Saturday shortly after it was revealed she was returning donations from supporters across the world.

Um... we'll see if that happens. Because the last thing she said would happen with the money, get this, didn't:

The purported incident created a media firestorm, with well-wishers sending Morales at least $3,000 in donations through a PayPal account. Morales claimed sheÂ’d send proceeds to the Wounded Warrior Project, but the group said it hasnÂ’t received anything.

Some donors say they have gotten their money back. Here's hoping they all do.

The restaurant should still be boycotted into oblivion.  The entire thing could have been cleared up in about 30 seconds by checking the receipt against the charge amounts.  If they did (which I bet they did do), they kept quiet about it and let some innocent people get dragged through the muck.

Actually, let's not.  Virtually all of these donors are almost certainly leftist activists that see nothing but the oppressed and the oppressors.  If someone from an "oppressed" class says she was oppressed, then by god she has been.

70 It's really gotten to the point where I immediately go to "hoax" when I hear about these. Like the football player in... where was it? Massachusetts? Who had "racist graffiti" on his house. My first thought was "he did it. Probably because he was mad at the school or someone on the team." I was close- his mom did it (and I never heard the real reason). But these are my first reactions. For one thing, because people don't think this way anymore. It's been nearly 3 generations since MLK and the Selma speech. People my age grew up in a world where any kind of discrimination (but the real kind, not the made up "you have to approve of me kind") was seen as ignorant, if not actively offensive.

However, I have to think that some poor Manager, who typically only has to deal with the occasional unsatisfied customer, didn't expect to be the center of a viral internet firestorm. They did when I was in the Navy but AWOL reflects more serious infraction.  UA was being away from where you were supposed to be w/o permission.  AWOL was skipping out with no intention of coming back.  And after a while that becomes desertion.

Long ago when I was in the Navy things were not that lax.  You got a Captain's Mast on the first offense which usually resulted in administrative punishment unless you did something else bad with it.



If you had a lot of those they were likely to give you a BCD which was bad juju.  For desertion you could expect a court and some hard time military prison followed by a DD.

Long ago when I was in the Navy things were not that lax. You got a Captain's Mast on the first offense which usually resulted in administrative punishment unless you did something else bad with it.


If you had a lot of those they were likely to give you a BCD which was bad juju. For desertion you could expect a court and some hard time military prison followed by a DD.

The restaurant knew or should have known by the very next day that she was lying.  All it took was checking the checks for the amount, and when it wasn't there, check all the credit card receipts from her section to find the offending one.  Instead - or in spite of knowing - they took her side, blamed the anonymous customers and proclaimed they weren't welcome back. 

It wasn't until the customers themselves broke silence and contacted the media that the truth came out.  The restaurant was actively covering it up.  They should be boycotted by all reasonable people.

My late and unlamented step-uncle was apparently UA multiple times during the Vietnam era and the MPs would show up at my step-grandmother's house to collect him and toss him in the brig. When did we start naming snow events?  Here in Central MD we had a couple of named snow events over the last couple of days.  The press and the people went nuts as always, but it was really nothing but a minor inconvenience.  Are we going to start naming days that exceed 88 degrees too?  We can do store runs for popsicles and ice cream.  Start a new tradition.

My late and unlamented step-uncle was apparently UA multiple times during the Vietnam era and the MPs would show up at my step-grandmother's house to collect him and toss him in the brig.

Back in the day, non-whites were always identified as such, i.e. "Joe Smith, negro, arraigned in city court," or Ida Jones, Indian, charges husband with abuse. Italians were always identified the same way as non-whites, i.e. "Giuseppe DiPietro, Italian, elected dogcatcher." Based on my research, the change to "white status" seems to have come shortly after WWI, at least in my area (western NY).

We got everyone beat on freaking out over snow.


Several years ago, they forecast snow flurries around mid-day and so all the schools decided to have early dismissal.  I left work around 1PM when it started to flurry.  I got home at 2AM.


13 hours later.


26 miles to get home to pick up my kid from the daycare.  The daycare workers stayed there the whole night and camped out with the kids.  I was not the last parent to pick up their kid either.

423 WTF banks don't keep cash? Either the branch is operating illegally or there was a "run" on it. They're required to start a given day with x% of deposits available in cash (I don't remember the formula, but it changed when branch banking became the norm). If you're getting $10,000.00 or less, they shouldn't need to get the money from any place but (possibly) their own vault.

I was  living  in  NY  about 75 miles north of the city when I woke up one October morning to the sounds of gunfire.  It continued all the while I hurried into my clothes to see what the hell was happening.   After running outside, I looked to see that the branches on all the trees were snapping off like twigs.  It sounded like a war. 

 

We had had a nice rainstorm that night followed by freezing temperatures.  The leaves had not  yet fallen off the trees and  the weight of the ice let loose the dogs of war.   It left devastation  along the whole  Taconic Parkway.

431 We still have Polaroids of the day we first dug all the way to the sidewalk, about three days after the snow stopped. Prior to that my father had to climb out a screen porch window just to get outside and walk miles to work downtown. The snow was so high in parts of the neighborhood that we could walk right up to the branches where bird's nests, treehouses, etc. were. Crazy.
