Want To See Me Get PWNd?
— Ace

And I do mean PWNd.

Notle began by defending the Cartoon Salesman's "I Saw Your Boobs" song at the Oscars, where he shamed actresses by noting he'd seen them naked in movies.

I got very self-righteous in attacking Nolte for his inhumanity.

Nolte says Chillax, those actresses weren't really embarrassed. Their reactions were staged, performed, and pre-recorded as part of the bit.

I inform Notle, in so many words, that he's a 9/11 Truther for believing something so patently absurd.

Nolte says no, it sure looked staged.

Now I really get on my high horse and tell him he's crazy, of course it wasn't staged, and these Poor Actresses and stuff. I also think I sort of imply he might be a bully who picks on children.

Below, a picture of the actress Jennifer Lawrence being made-up before pre-recording her scripted reaction to the Boobs song.

Wow.

Well alrightee then.

Now I know how erg -- who I think should be called "Derp" -- should have felt, but didn't, because he's such a Derp.

73 The very public failure of energy company Solyndra has focused a lot of attention on the Department of EnergyÂ’s loan guarantee programs. Beyond SolyndraÂ’s failure, itÂ’s interesting to take a closer look at these programs. The economic justification for any government-sponsored lending or loan guarantee program must rest on a well established failure of the private sector to allocate loans efficiently, meaning that deserving recipients could not have obtained capital on their own. Absent such a private sector deficiency, the Department of EnergyÂ’s activities would simply be a wasteful at best, politically motivated at worst, subsidy to this sector of the economy.

“Failure of the private sector to allocate loans efficiently” ?? LOL

This is like saying that the mob kills people because the didn’t act “efficiently”

I think everyone should get riled at such things. (o.O ) To be honest, the lack of dignity we afford one another in this era of shock jocks and reality TV is one of the reasons why I feel we're going to hit the wall.
We simply are not very good people anymore.
In any event, I think that your first post on the matter hits nearer to the mark about the nature of the people in this country, not just in D.C. but all across the fruited plains, than is comfortable for just about anyone. That alone is worth the entire debacle, in my opinion.

Well no.

What I noticed exactly was that her cleavage was the only thing holding up the real dress, while the fake shot dress had spaghetti straps.

I couldn't tell you jack shit about the rest of the dress, just that the real one was slightly more revealing. (And had a better chance of a malfunction.)

No, you can't see the real one.  If he was adopted the original is sealed. (Just like mine. I was adopted.  Fortunately I have my original birth certificate, as does my sister who was also adopted at the same time.)

The 50 states perform 75,000 adoptions per year.  That means 75,000 fake birth certificates are created every year for these newly adopted children.

Here's the thing with the Obama birth certificate rage - when is it going to stop?  Is it ever?  He's been elected.  Twice.  If  there was ever any evidence  he was ineligible,  we would have  seen  it by now.

There's a bit in the Stephen King novella "Road Work" where the protagonist is walking past a store window in which   the store owner  has placed a sign  angrily proclaiming  "JIMMY CARTER GAVE THE PANAMA  CANAL AWAY TO THE COMMUNIST N*GGERS."

I hate  to break it to you, but  ^^^THAT^^^ is what you  Birthers sound like.  Lunatics.  Only  worse, because the  Panama Canal giveaway?  That  happened.  There is extensive documentation detailing the event.

I personally think that his released long form birth certificate actually came from Hawaii.  Hawaii, like every other state, maintains the material and equipment necessary to produce realistic looking birth certificates from past periods.  They do this for the purpose of providing them to adopted children.

I have little doubt his document was produced by Hawaiian staff at their birth certificate facility.  That it is a duplicate of his original birth certificate I highly doubt.  I think it is a contemporarily produced replacement birth certificate.

287 ot - what tension dooes one set the sewing machine when sewing silk?

There's many different weaves and weights of silk.  The non-stretch stuff silk scarves and such are made of is called "Habotai" and its weight is graded on a scale called "Moam" (abbreviated "mm")

There's a load of textile silk information here:

Always find someone else to blame (preferably your predecessor, if he/she had different opinions than you do). Also, you need to viciously attack anyone who even mentions (no matter how politely) your so-called 'mistake.' And if anyone is gauche enough to try to provide actual 'facts,' make sure you shout them down and not let them get a single word out; it helps if you have several of your minions and sycophants also shouting them down.

Or is this how to make it in politics? I always get those two confused...

Out somnolent star refuses to behave according to the predictions of Sun watching scientists, leading some observers to wonder if forecasters missed the mark. The botched solar forecast not only has implication for our understanding of the physical processes inside the Sun, it has possible links to future climate change here on Earth. Did he get the trophy wife? Nope. He's getting the milk without buying the cow. She's a semester away from a PhD and ~ten years younger then him. Nobody's been observing the sun long enough to know what its long period cycles are or what the long term variability is.

Its been around maybe 6-7 billion years and we got a 200 year or so snapshot.

Here we go with the "kook" stuff.

Oswald shot Kennedy,  There are no black helicopters chasing anyone,  and the moon landing can be demonstrated by firing a laser beam at the refecting panels left on the moon for that purpose.

Why is it so difficult to conceive of the notion that Barack Obama might lie about his documents?  He lied on his bar exam, didn't he?

373 You know, I think I'll just stay out of this one. I'm not going to bring up Vattel's "The Laws of Nations" circa 1758 I believe it was because I'll probably spell his name wrong. Even though that's the book the founders clearly used in putting the phrase Natural Born Citizen in the constitution and the difference between that and Citizen. Besides, as stated above, it's to late and golly gee, I just don't like being called names. And I couldn't tell you, as someone who spends a lot of time in the outdoors, how many times I've seen just regular old contrails all of a sudden stop evaporating. And another. And another. And just hang there. And unfurl. And watched turn a good sized section of sky from blue as it could be to totally "clouded" over. Sure Wilbur, that's normal. And the smaller breaks in them like the jet engine was sputtering. Perfectly normal. Now stick your fingers in your ears, say la la la I can't hear you and your just stupid and crazy.

The issue here isn't the idea itself, it's the rush to judgment regarding it.

Too many people were too quick to make up their mind on the basis of very little information.  And then they decided to attack anyone as kooks who questioned their rush to judgement.

Cascade and Herd theory manifested.

Well, I don't know about the other stuff but I have seen black helicopters.

In Joliet Il they would fly around once in a while. Black Helicopters get the name from not having any identifying marks. NONE. NADA. which technically is a violation of FCC regs.

Hence the "Black" sobriquet" as they are usually painted a matte black or a very dark olive.

They most likely are LE and being as how there's a prison nearby Joliet, that's probably what they were. What's frosts me is that they blatantly violate the law by not have at least a number somewhere visible. It's safety and accountability. But then many Gov't orgs don't think those laws apply to them.

Let the mocking begin.

I  knew  it  was  staged  immediately  because  the  actresses  were  wearing  different  dresses  from   what  they  were   wearing  on  the  red  carpet  just  minutes  earlier   --  so  I  knew  they  were  "in  on  it".  Charlize  was  especially   noticeable  since  she  was  wearing  a  white  strapless  on  the  red  carpet  and  a  black  dress  with  straps  in  the  bit.

On  another note: even if these actresses were caught unaware (which  they weren't),  they have it coming. I'm sick   of  Hollywood's  immorality   being  shoved  down  my  throat. These  actresses  *should*  be "moritifted" for baring all,  but because  they  do  so  willingly,  they  are  incapable  of  such  a  feeling.

407 Coming to this post late to say that I actually loved the back-and-forth today between you and Nolte, Ace. But you are two of my fave pop culture guys so there's that. I originally thought that The Conversation's purpose was to have rapid-fire, multiple commenting from everyone in that exact vein; like the rapid replying people do on Tumblr, but without the passive aggressive liberal hive-mind speak that is prevalent over there. I quickly realized that since all the contributors of The Convo have other jobs to do in the blogosphere, and lives, that was not gonna be. I enjoy what you guys post, don't get me wrong, but it was exciting to see my original vision for The Convo realized, if momentarily.

I saw the bit and was fooled at first—Charlize was perfect—but some actress' reaction further down the bit seemed off, more hammy than genuine and I quickly realized the whole thing was staged. Your defense of the actresses was sweet, if misguided, and had it NOT been staged, ala Gervais, your comments would have been spot on. Go grab some Ewok chow and a nap and all will be right with the world.

(I also say this as someone who stood in front of her office door for five minutes, waiting for someone to arrive, until I realized I DID have my key after all. *facepalm* I'm going to blame any lapses of intelligence today on Monday and leave it at that, feel free to do the same.)

Hollywood, liberals, and the modern fem lib movement (but I repeat myself) is all about removing shame from our lives; it was nice to see that skewered, if only for one night and one sketch.

Posted by: Snake Oil Baron at March 04, 2013 06:26 PM (RKeHi)

421 The verdict on being pwn'd is still out. This one photo isn't proof of staging. Not only was Lawrence up for an award, she won. They knew damned well they'd be focusing on her in closeups, so of course they're doing her makeup. If they did extra makeup for all boobettes, especially those not nominated, I'd see it as much more plausible.
