Question:  Why doesn't Boehner just tell Harry Reid and Obama to stick it where the sun don't shine?

Seriously - there are any number of bills sitting on Reid's table, each of them addressing a separate budget item.

Why doesn't Boehner just get in front of a microphone, tell the American people that it's Reid and Obama who are stonewalling, and then tell the House members to take a few days off until Reid decides to do something?

I'm tired of living crisis to crisis - and it's just going to get worse until 2016 if Republicans don't stop this nonsense.

I'm pretty sure the American people are tired of living this way as well.

28 Question: Why do people keep talking about default when it's a complete lie? There is no risk of default. All the deadline means is that the treasury runs out of room on its credit card. Which means it can only spend what it brings in in tax revenue. If a default were to occur it would be because govt decided to spend it's limited money keeping NPR online instead of paying interest on the debt. There is no risk of default.

Since there are three separate budget bills in the Senate awaiting a vote, why is Boner bothering with negotiations. Tell the Senate to pick one and vote. The bills are Govt Funded sans Obamacare, Govt Funded with Obamacare (no waivers/exemptions everyone is in) and Govt Funded with Obamacare delayed one year.

Stick it back to Harry and tell him to vote on all three and get back with us with the Senate's vote tallies.

77 Schweikert ticked off ways that he, as a county treasurer, had sought balance. “The basic repo desk, running your ladders on your debt—it’s stunning that the politicians in the administration care more about keeping this as a wedge than the international markets. Even Geithner made it clear that he had the ability to prioritize…. here is no such thing as default unless there is an actual evil attempt from the administration. When you have 18 percent of GDP coming in in cash, less than 2 percent going out in debt coverage—I’m stunned you all fall for it in the press. None of you were math majors, were you?”

95 From WZ, our muzzie President praises muzzies. --- US President Barack Obama and First Lady Michelle today greeted Muslims across the world on the occasion of Eid-ul-Azha, lauding their faith for setting a “powerful example” on how to work together to address common challenges. “As our Muslim neighbours and friends gather for Eid celebrations, Muslim Americans are among the more than three million pilgrims joining one of the world’s largest and most diverse gatherings, which serves as a reminder of the shared roots of the world’s Abrahamic faiths,” Obama said in a statement. He said that Muslims around the world who are joining in offering their assistance to those suffering from hunger, disease and conflict to commemorate Eid, is a powerful example of the positive role that faith can play in motivating communities to work together to address shared challenges. “On behalf of the American people, we extend our warmest greetings during this Hajj season. 111 From WashExaminer ----F rom both the House and Senate conservatives, I get the strong feeling that the debt limit won't face much of a fight. Think of it this way: Folks are ready to vote no on a debt-limit deal but they're not planning to filibuster or threaten to depose House Speaker John Boehner. In short, on the debt limit: Vote no and let it pass. The tough question is what happens if the Senate debt-limit hike includes a continuing resolution. Even on that score, though, one member tells me there are "80 to 100" Republicans who just want this all to end. That means Boehner might not have a majority of the GOP conference, but he has a good chunk — and enough to pass a bill with strong Democratic support.

I have my own naiveté, so I'm leary of faulting others for theirs.

Oddly though he hasn't filed suit against Popehat, whose written pretty heavily on him too (even nominating him in his annual "censorious asshat of the year" poll.

Filing suit against places like Redstate and S&S publishers that likely have large legal teams (if that's accurate) is probably a tactical mistake on the order of bombing Pearl Harbor. I'd argue doubly so for S&S since they have an incentive to prevent any precedent of lawsuits that threaten their publishing independence.

178 All it takes is a subpoena... Posted by: sven10077 at October 16, 2013 10:24 AM (9jfyN) Well, all it takes is a subpoena that the court approves. There is a blogger "KimberlinUnmasked" that Kimberlin is suing - along with R S McCain et al and he has an order for a hearing against Google (since it was on blogspot). So it costs money to defend against crap. In this case, it costs Google money - but they are defending rather than just giving up the name. So who knows where it goes. I suspect this case is modeled after the Civil Rico case that some lesbian has filed against Liberty University Law School et al over a custody case. Yes, should be laughed out of court, but it is still active over a year later. And did anyone read the Mark Steyn thing that somebody posted a link to earlier? (okay that is pretty vague). "But it shouldn’t be necessary to do this, and certainly not in a court of law: These days, calling someone totally racist is totally gay. These are the playground insults of the diversity sandbox. I hasten to add, before he reaches for m’learned friends, that I’m not implying Mr. Awan is a practicing homosexual: In 2005, he testified to the House of Commons against same sex marriage. For all I know, some gay guys would call him “homophobic.” Again, big deal. As the comedienne Sarah Silverman likes to say, “I mean ‘gay’ like ‘retarded.’ ” I hasten to add, before he amends his complaint, that I’m not implying Mr. Awan is mentally ill. And yes, Sarah Silverman is a sinister Jewess, but the point is that suing over the back-and-forth of public discourse turns the entire citizenry into an enfeebled child: To litigate every offense is to give a not especially distinguished judiciary the power to micro-regulate social relations."

Following up on my own comment for a minute re: Anti-SLAPP.

I actually live in the City in this state that spawned our "better than nothing but still crap" Anti-SLAPP law.

It happened after our Mayor sued a citizen and 2 city council members because they blocked her plan for a new garbage collector (who said citizen had gotten some bad service from and was exercising his 1A rights to tell people about it outside city council meetings, in an appropriate "please take this flyer" fashion.)

It went on for a year or so, cost the lady her Mayorship (IIRC, my facts are bit hazy on this, in any case, there's a different mayor now).

After they defendants finally beat if away MO passed a base level Anti-SLAPP that covers "public meetings" and "comments directed at public office holders."

Still very weak.

(Although a certain mayor in a city a few zips over is about to find out that's just strong enough that he can't go suing his council members.)

The thing is we are not in power and the actions are a tool used by the Choom gang so I doubt we'll get reform.

There is a reason that lawsuits like this only happen one way - with someone on the left suing someone on the right.

I've never heard of anything like this going the other way, with a right-wing plaintive filing some baseless suit against someone on the left.

People on the left know that any action in response to a lawsuit will be played out in the court, following the rules of law.  That's just how the right operates.

Anyone on the right who thought it would be a good idea to bring a suit like this against someone on the left would know he had to deal with the crazy element of the liberal party.  There are people out there who would consider some violent act against a conservative is justified if that person is suing his favorite blogger.

Think of it.  Some random individual who either lurks or comments on a blog and passionately identifies with the blogger thinks he's doing the blogger a big favor by disposing of the legal system abuser.

This is why people on the right don't do these things.  They know a crime like that is unsolvable, so insane liberals are prone to do them.

If only those on the left thought more about how many borderline crazies there are in the world, they would make more of an effort to get along.

I had a nice email chat with Popehat once after I managed to piss off Sen. Claire Bear enough to warrant a personal phone call from her on this issue. (We'll cut to the chase on that, I didn't pick up because it was a DC number and I panicked because it was less than an hour after sending message #2, she left a medium length voicemail with a followup number and then never responded to my follow-up. by the by, AllenG with that blog he doesn't have aided me in my quest to get her attention.)

Anyway, back to the conversation. I think you're half right.  Claire Bear seemed at least intrigued by my ramblings, but deferred to the state and in part Popehat concurred (and in part dissented.)

So for a variety of reasons (including federal apathy) we're not getting this at the federal level yet.  But we should all be working to get decent SLAPP reform at the state level.  Something akin to what either Texas of California has that shuts down discovery until the SLAPP motion is dealt with. (And has painful painful penalties for plaintiffs that loose their SLAPP motion.)

210 Act 2, Scene 1

Time: 20 years in the future

Light comes up to reveal Sphynx naked, tied to a chair in dirty, damp, poorly lit basement with filthy concrete block walls.

U.P.S. Empress for Life Melia Obama has ordered all dissenters against "the good" flogged and tortured until their will is broken, then transported to re-education camps to have their belief system fixed.

Wrinkled and bent with age, Torture Master Al Franken hovers menacingly over the naked figure in the chair. He raises his whip and adds one more lash to the bloody back as Sphynx cries out weakly.

Torture Master:  Admit it!  Admit you blasphemed The One with your wicked keyboard skills. Years ago. It was years ago, you . . . dissenter!

Sphynx:  But Hillary Clinton said . . .

Torture Master:  Silence! That name shall not be mentioned! She of the cankles has been erased from the memory of the United Progressive States.

Sphynx:  I never meant any bad intent to the President. Just harmless criticism and satire.  Please, don't hit me again!

Torture Master: We have the transcripts. It was you who, in 2013, called The One 'Barky OBarkBark.'  Don't deny it!  The NSA has traced your former IP address and furthermore, identifed the MAC address of a device formerly owned by you.

I have sex again, bathe in the warm sun and then have sex a couple of more times. Then I have lunch (you 'd be proud - lots of greens). Another romp around the golf course, then pretty much have sex the rest of the afternoon. After supper, it 's back to golf course again. Then it 's more sex until late at night. From the LA Times:

Los Angeles International Airport employee has been arrested in connection with dry-ice bomb explosions, law enforcement sources told The Times.

The suspect was identified as 28-year-old Dicarlo Bennett, according to the sources.

Public records show that Bennett lived in South Los Angeles. He was arrested Tuesday in Paramount, the LAPD said.

A Facebook account registered to a Dicarlo Bennett said he studied at Santa Monica College and was a former ramp supervisor for Servisair, an airport contractor... A law enforcement source confirmed that Bennett worked for Servisair.

I had actually forgotten about the Mann Suite TBH.

When I wrote Claire Bear it was in part because of the current proceedings, but also because I saw it happening I my field.

People made perfectly reasonable conclusions drawn from available facts like:

Professor Q recently accepted a position as a de facto lobbyist for a stem cell group.

The journal Professor Q edits (but is not funded by his job) suddenly became obsessed with stem cells (specifically arguing their use is ethical and necessary).

Professor Q may have a conflict of interest and should step down from the editorial position.

That (published in Slate) got threatens of huge lawsuits against both the author and slate.

Slate folded and pulled the article.

This is not the first time Professor Q sued for someone reporting on his various sundry misdeeds.

So here I am regular snarky dude trying to get into the field when the notable people in it are literally engaging in lawfare to shut their opponents up, yeah I got scared.

234 I think I can see the reasoning why the judge pretty much threw the book at another judge and sentenced her so harshly.  First one of her adult sons filed a harassment charge against his brother. The judge told an employee to hold filing the citation.  When the cop asked where it was the judge said the system was backlogged and then filed the citation herself while listing the subject as a black female and not her white male son.  Then tried to fire the employee that she told not to file.  So I can understand why the judge was unmoved by her pleas.
