— Purple Avenger They rented a shop at the mall prior to the attack.
The militants who led the attack on a Kenyan mall hired a shop there in the weeks leading up to the siege, senior security sources have told the BBC.They're not only thinking smaller, they're thinking smarter. This could be a real problem. Undoubtedly this scheme will be replicated in the future and would work with high security office buildings as well as malls. This gave them access to service lifts at Westgate enabling them to stockpile weapons and ammunition.
Having pre-positioned weapons they were able to re-arm quickly and repel the security forces.
Imagine the effort involved in searching everything that came into a mall or office building through the service entrances. Boxed store product, cases of bung wrap, cases of bags, cases of floor cleaner/wax etc. Even then, terrorists could easily substitute liquid explosives/incendiaries for any bottled service supplies or bulk food court drinks. The manpower need for that level of security is daunting indeed.
If they were patient enough, they could even build a weapons and explosives cache into a building under construction if they had some guys on the drywall crew. Damn little inspection of construction materials and worker tool boxes and such is done on most commercial projects.
Even supposedly secure sites, like US embassies, are routinely compromised during construction. Remember the embassy we had built in Moscow that was uninhabitable because the Soviets had laced so many bugging devices in during construction that it was impossible to remediate?

The great Japanese military blunder at Pearl Harbor was not hitting the spare parts depots, the repair shops, and the POL farms (petroleum, oil and lubricants).
Chester Nimitz later said that if the Japanese had done that, the outcome of the naval war in the Pacific would have been very different.
Likewise with terrorism. Amateurs attack high profile targets like embassies. Professionals go after low profile logistical targets like infrastructure. And what's scary is that as the jihadis become more disciplined and professional, they may well start to go after infrastructure, which is a frighteningly soft underbelly in most countries. Including the United States.
Gordon Liddy wrote a speculative fiction piece a few years ago about an America that had just had its logistic and infrastructural sinews cut by well planned terror attacks just as a long hard winter was about to set in. Transport and power grids in total disarray. NOT a pretty picture.

Despite a complete ban on effective weapons in the hands of ordinary people, the black ops guys manage to put together an effective arsenal and cause all sorts of chaos.
Here's the key point that reminded me of this: the future UN government requires companies to spy on their customers, so they bought a storage rental business. Then they stored all their stuff, and sent reports to the government that showed nothing suspicious.
During the actual attacks, they caused serious mayhem by doing things like putting bombs inside ventilation systems in high-rise buildings, causing chain-reaction car crashes, etc. They shot a few people but that paled compared to the other stuff.
It occurs to me that the fictional future UN government would surely call them "terrorists" and that the word might actually apply. They wanted the people, who didn't care about the war, to start caring. In the end, it did work: the UN recalled all its soldiers to do disaster recovery back at home, as the Earth was sufficiently messed up that they preferred to stop attacking Freehold.
Despite the "terrorist" aspect, you are cheering for these guys; the UN attacked their homeworld, specifically to eradicate their whole way of life, and caused horrific casualties.

You know, at the company I work at we had an intern who was very publicly a Muslim. That is fine. I'm very publicly Roman Catholic. But, you know, I never trusted the guy. One day he brought in some "candy" his mom sent him from where ever the eff he was from. He opened up the box and offered to everyone to come and eat his moms candy. I didnt. I could never say anything about my worry about it being poisoned to anyone at work. Heck, I would have been out on my a__.
But, you know, when there is some sort of massive shooting at a mall or business like this one. I'm gonna keep myself armed even if its against compnay policy. I can stash it in my work area where no one get get it.

A real problem - yeah - for people in Kenya. WHO CARES. TWELVE, 12, years since 911. Doesn't take a rocket scientist to shoot up a mall. They rented a shop, gee, what evil geniuses. Oh no, everybody be afraid. Not impressed.
What exactly is it that you are leading into? We need to beef up security at the mall? Search every box that goes into a store? Add several more layers of background check to businesses that want to rent a shop? Put more naked scanners in the airport? How about at the mall?
Because some guys had enough forethought to rent a shop at a mall in Kenya, Africa?

We've talked about this before here, but just look at the number of Muslims now employed at major US airports. Huge numbers at Sea-Tac, working in the gift shops, on the cleaning crews, in the food service areas, baggage handlers, the guys who drive the fuel trucks. Not to mention the solid wall of Middle Eastern taxi drivers.
Diversity has effectively invited the termites right into the infrastructure. The fact that nothing like this mall attack has happened here yet is a freakin miracle in my opinion.

Can't just kill 1.2 billion lunatic muslims (though the thought does keep a lot of people warm at night), so it would be nice to have the option of just shipping all of them to a brand spankin' new planet to occupy, sufficiently far away that we don't need to worry about fighting them for another 1400 years, as we have for the last 1400. It isn't like the fuckers could possibly come back here on spacecraft they built themselves.
The only way there will ever be peace on this Earth is if the bitter adherents of the Devil's Religion are permanently and completely separated from the rest of the population. Sorry, it is just true. The history of the last 14 centuries proves it, as does this latest attack in Africa.

A coordinated attack of this type takes planning, supply and coordination. That might have a high probability of success in Kenya (where, by the way they ignored INTEL on the planning), but is much lower probability here given the op risk factors. I don't care what the tabloid say.
A "lone wolf" shootout has the highest success factor given the unknowns and low profile risk factors- which is why it is worried about. Oh and the best defense against that attack? Armed citizens in the vicinity who can disrupt or stop the attackers.

No, it's not paranoia if you are being vigilant.
The most dangerous piece of tripe this Administration floats is the war is somehow over. That disarms the average Joe and makes people think in different terms. Suddenly a backpack on the ground at the Boston Marathon, left unattended, is simply a harmless backpack- not a bomb or threat.
This war won't be over until every last one of these miscreants and their mothers are dead. And that won't be for a long time and I am not about to surrender my freedom for them or anyone else.

I'd find some domestic malcontents and run a false flag on them and get them to do it.
There's plenty that could be goaded into it. ELF! comes to mind. They've already got experience attacking decadent Gaia raping businesses. A mall is like a temple of wasteful Gaia raping worship, right?

cause we are all badass against the Chechens since Boston

Useless Idiot or Fellow Traveler would do the same.
But think of all the possibilities of that sweet, sweet Saudi cash. They already provide nice retirement gigs to friendly State Department people. Maybe they are branching out to the young before they start their careers?

What do you do?
Call the Mossad for advice, to see if my initial plan to shoot everyone who even likes any of those people in the head is sound.

AZ isn't "home" for McQueeg any longer. It hasn't been for some time.
He's now one of those pure creatures of the Beltway, the only place that people like him truly feel comfortable and happy. He's a cave fish. He can't exist anyplace other than that rare, specialized environment.
Shit, if he retired to Arizona, who would rub his tummy and pat his head and tell him over and over, "Who's a maverick? Who's our little maverick boy? You are! That's right, you!"
He needs that psychic fix the way a crack whore needs a fresh rock. The media in D.C. give it to him. He'll never voluntarily leave. The only way he's leaving is in a casket, or after having been primaried.

So if they are Pakistani, Peshawar is gone. No Pakistani is getting a U.S. visa. All illegal Pakistanis in the U.S. are booted and any family/friends of the Pakistani terrorists are in jail indefinitely until they are proven innocent or work with the USG to find the rest of the cell.

Choom Boy's already on it, dudes. He's having a Productive Rap with the new, Warm and Fuzzy leader of the I-ranians. Apparently, he thinks they can work out a deal on nukes, since the new Big Cheese over there has been given the seal of approval by Brian Williams, Ann "Weepy" Curry and the NBC News Team.
Ol' Mad Mahmoud was a terrorist and liar. Teh New Guy is a terrorist and liar but he smile real nice.
And President Historic First© bought the guy's act. He is either a total fool or a contemptible traitor. Actually, I think he's both.

They had the torture equipment at the ready as well as the arms, almost to the level of being a mobile torture chamber they wheeled to the hostages. As per wiki Kenya has the death penalty but they have not used it since 87' They may have to start the paper work to have it even if it take years.

No, it'll be at your workplace. And you'll look at your mortgage and at your wife and kids, and you'll meekly go to the mandatory sensitivity training, and you'll accept you'll never ever get promoted again.
I haven't been to the 'mandatory sensitivity training', but I've been to the annual 'harassment training' that they give to everyone, and you know what? I took it like a Spartan ten-year-old, just like everyone else in my office did.

You are assuming I work (I only work in my gardens), that I have a mortgage (that was payed off in 1983), my wife doesn't work and packs a 380 ACP whenever she steps out of the house, and my children are long gone and are prepared for SHTF. I carry a S&W 65 with a 3 inch barrel 24/365 unless I'm asleep in which case its on my bed stand and there is a Winchester Defender 12 gauge propped up in the corner within easy reach. And, you will never approach my country home unannounced because one of the mutts will give the alarm.
I am vigilant 24/365 until I am unable and that is not now. So no, I will not go meekly. I've lived a good life and I will not assume that I can protect my children and grandchildren from the chambers by going meekly. You decide how you live your life, I decided long ago how I live mine. BTW, you may not find it healthy to knock on my door unannounced.

Several years ago I got a chance to discuss the "Honey Pot Theory"* with an SF guy with several tours downrange already.
His resposne was, "Look, They're religious fanatics, not stupid.... they send their guy in for some live fire training and then send them somewhere to execute their mission."
*the "Honey Pot Theory" was where the claim was we were fighting them overthere to draw in the fanatics and kill them.

I'm unconvinced someone at the mall had to know. If you rent a shop, you're gonna spend several weeks with it boarded up while "remodeling" and fitting it out for the grand opening.
Mall staff isn't much interested in what's going on behind that plywood, other than are you going to be opening on time and helping to drive customer traffic.
That "remodeling" does however give you access to mall structural, mechanical, and electrical plans, which could prove quite useful.

Diversity has effectively invited the termites right into the infrastructure. The fact that nothing like this mall attack has happened here yet is a freakin miracle in my opinion.

C.S. Lewis had the Calormenes (who were based on Muslims) infiltrate Narnia in "The Last Battle" in a similar way; I used to be amazed by how prescient he was!

"If they were patient enough, they could even build a weapons and explosives cache into a building under construction if they had some guys on the drywall crew."
Beslan was an alternate target of opportunity, so wasn't prepared, but a new stadium in Grozniy was pre-loaded with explosives during construction, right under the reviewing stand. The Chechens decapitated the pro-Moscow quisling regime during the opening formalities. At the time, I considered it good news.

Negatory.
Find the endorsing mullahs and target them as the militant leadership they are, before they win their first battle... and if when eveyone in THEIR home village +10 mile radius takes a hit I would be more than happy to pen them, each and every survivor, a letter of condolences that their little johnny jihad they offered best wishes to his dreams on his graduation, well, congratulations, you earned it.
