— Pixy Misa The AP took it upon themselves to cover for the dear leader.
What Obama said:
THE PRESIDENT: I don't know. As you know, for the last three years, I’ve said, let’s work together. Let’s find a financing mechanism and let’s go ahead and fix our bridges, fix our roads, sewer systems, our ports. The Panama is being widened so that these big supertankers can come in. Now, that will be finished in 2015. If we don't deepen our ports all along the Gulf — places like Charleston, South Carolina, or Savannah, Georgia, or Jacksonville, Florida — if we don't do that, those ships are going to go someplace else. And we’ll lose jobs. Businesses won’t locate here.
What AP reported:
"If we don't deepen our ports all along the Gulf — (and in) places like Charleston, S.C., or Savannah, Ga., or Jacksonville, Fla. — if we don't do that, these ships are going to go someplace else and we'll lose jobs," Obama said.
Does anyone think the AP would have afforded the Republicans the same courtesy?

As a Charleston native, I find it amazing that after all these years, we didn't live on the Atlantic.
This is par for the course. We need to just acknowledge that the media IS a propaganda arm of this Communist administration, and thus, we should quit giving these people more exposure. Read Drudge, read this site, read other places for news. F--k these people.

Oh... you're suggesting the news people are trying to hide the fact that Obama doesn't know doodly-squat about the stuff that comes out of his mouth?
Well, if people are stupid enough to believe he does, then you aren't going to be able to explain to them why this "gaffe" should matter.

I'm just a moron, but isn't PANAMA widening the Panama Canal? So he's taking credit for the infrastructure work in other nations, even though we aren't involved.
Also, is The Panama anywhere near The Iraq?

Because of the obviousness of those gaffes I think they overlooked the less obvious spin about 'losing jobs because those ships will go someplace else'.
Exactly where is this someplace else? All of these ships are destined for the United States. If they don't go to those ports they will go to other ports in the US.

A perfect example of this: Just this past month, PPP did a poll of Alaska. I can't remember if it was here at the HQ where I read they included George Zimmerman in the list of potential 2016 candidates in an effort to be able to say "Hurr durr, Republicans want Zimmerman to be President!" Obviously, almost no one took the bait; only 2% picked Zimmerman which was less than the margin of error.
But what wasn't widely reported was that one of the questions they asked was whether or not Alaskans could see Russia from their house. What possible public policy good is there in asking respondents about whether or not a fake Sarah Palin quote is applicable in their lives? (For the record, about 14% of Alaskans say they can see Russia from their house. So what Palin actually said was perfectly correct).

It isn't SUPERTANKERS that will be going through the canal, it's Container Ships which are presently too wide to pass through the canal
The only port on the Gulf which isn't already enlarged or planning to enlarge to handle the ships is Tampa, and they want to wait to see if enough freight traffic comes through the canal to justify the cost

That is exactly the point...we need to get the so-called mainstream media out of its fake standard of credibility. They are no longer credible, and we should treat them as such by strictly going to alternative news websites. The AP, Reuters, CNN, etc. have as much credibility as a freaking tabloid.

Yeah, parked the Lexus next to a Volt on Tuesday and chuckled to myself, "So that's what a brick on wheels looks like..." Had the same thought on Wednesday when the Nissan Leaf pulled up beside me. There is someone here in Tulsa who has one of the really high dollar Teslas and when I see it, I think, "Wow, that is what a $100,000 brick on wheels looks like."
The continuing mystery is where are these electric cars getting their electricity...here in Tulsa, we still mutilate Gaia by using fossil fuels to generate electricity.

Posted by: polynikes at August 08, 2013 11:25 AM (m2CN7)"
That is not entirely true.
The port at Topolobampo in Mexico (near Los Mochis) has a lot of capability and a railroad that runs up to connect to the US rail system in Texas. They also do not have a union that will shut down the port in order to prevent modern RFID tracking of containers in the port. They can unload containers from the ship directly onto rail cars without all the intermediate handling that they get in the Port of Long Beach. Also since it is on the West coast of Mexico, there is no need to go through the Panama Canal whether it is expanded or not.

Between that and teaching The Lightbringer the difference between liability and comprehensive insurance, I am delighted that we have been able to educate our president in these matters and all it took was letting him rule as an unaccountable sovereign for two terms. The destruction of our economy with its enpoverishing of so many lives as well as the corruption of our federal government agencies resulting in the loss of trust or respect for national institutions and the exacerbating of racial tensions are trivial in comparison with the opportunity to let the blessed Obama learn these things.

"Does anyone think the AP would have afforded the Republicans the same courtesy?"
Of course we would.
And we have *always* been at war with Eastasia.

-if we don't do that, these ships are going to go someplace else and we'll lose jobs," Obama said.
Would those jobs be anything like the Keystone XL pipeline jobs that you don't give a rat's ass about?

You want more?
'Kay, here's some more:
1) Having worked in the immediate vicinity of Jacksonville, FL (on contract) for 6 months + last year (April thru to end of October), I can state with authority: The port there handles anything up to AND including the very largest container-vessels, Carnival Cruise Lines ships and "supertankers", all on a regular basis, and has done so for a number of years now. In point of fact, there are at least two (possibly more, I used to drive past two of them on my way to work each day) large petroleum off-loading and storage points a couple of miles inland, up the river, along with a couple of humongous container-ship terminals AND a publicly-accessible port-of-call dockage for the cruise line in the same area. There is even a turning-basin (just downstream from one of the petro terminals, and adjacent to the other one) large enough for even a supertanker to turn around before departing.
2) As mentioned by others, the Port Authority in Charleston is hard at work already, widening and deepening the primary roadstead into/out of the main harbor. Biggest part of the project involves the passage under a couple of major bridges that carry coastal highway and railway traffic - but they're gittin' 'er done, and should be ready for "supertanker", etc. traffic within the next year to 18 months. They already handle the biggest container-freight vessels. I know about this one because my son-in-law owns and operates a freight-forwarding company that handles a lot of the container freight inland from Charleston (as well as in and out of Wilmington, NC, which has a couple of fairly-large container freight yards, but - due to extensive shoal waters down off the coast (think: Cape Fear and Frying-Pan Shoals) - cannot handle the biggest container ships, and likely never will). The project in Charleston has been in progress for several years now, since it has to take place while the shipping is already going on all the time.
3) There are already plans in the works to widen/deepen access at Savannah, GA - delay has been due to the Great Recession (which Li'l Obambam is doing all he can to continue and even deepen, BTW), but should be able to proceed soon - they're losing business to Jacksonville and Charleston, have been for some time now, and don't think they aren't aware of it.
In short - Laughing Boy 'Bammy, Da Smahtestist PresiDUNCE Evah, blew it again; not only a Geographic Dumdum in all 57 States, but doesn't even know what's goin' on already in the "Gulf Coast" ports he mentioned by name.
As the Great Sage, Bugs Of Bunny, has truly said: WHAT A Mackaroon!!...
