When democrats have lost the democrats...
— Purple Avenger

These poll results are full of sedition goodness

...The number of Americans who say they want to fire everyone is fairly consistent among most groups – at around 60 percent – but it spikes among rural voters (70 percent), white independents (70 percent) and those in Republican-held congressional districts (67 percent). Just(*) 52 percent of respondents in Democratic-held districts would vote to fire every lawmaker on Capitol Hill...
[NewSpeak vocabulary update alert, apply immediately!]: a majority is "just" now.
A record-low 14 percent think the country is headed in the right direction, down from 30 percent last month
Forward!
Just 17 percent think the economy will improve in the next year, while 42 percent think it will worsen.
Factoid: about 30% of the public believes in UFO's. I'm thinking when you can't out poll UFO's you maybe have a problem. JUST maybe.

Some mood music below the fold.

6 Just(*) 52 percent of respondents in Democratic-held districts would vote to fire every lawmaker on Capitol Hill... --- Which is why it is foolish to give into Obama now if even his own troops are getting restless. Republican districts aren't the ones screaming for "free bennies" out of the public coffer, for the most part. The longer the spigot stays off, the more pissed that group becomes while much of our side decides "We don't need this stuff to begin with."

11 So would term limits help or hurt?  It seems like the revolving door in DC is so bad that they are assimilated into the liberal-media-cocktail circuit within days of arriving.  The only thing that keeps them from acting completely contrary to our interests is the fact they have to run for re-election.

I worry that without that threat, they would be completely out of control.

I know, I know, how could it be worse than it is now?

34 God I hate polls.

There is extremely little meaning in a congressional approval poll. Why have them? I mean, it's not like we vote them all in as a group or something. It's pointless.

A more meaningful poll question would be "Do you approve of your current representative(s)?", but even then, given that most people have no idea who their Senators are, let alone who their congresscritter is, it's probably not that much more meaningful.

52 How screwed are we?

If we decided to go on austerity kick and only had balanced budgets and didn't borrow another nickel and paid as we go, if we dedicated 100 billion every year to pay off our debt it would take 175 years to do it.

If we wanted to do it over the course of 30 years we would have to fork over 600 billion every year. Roughly what we spend on the military.

So in other words it ain't happening by doing means testing on some elderly folk.

83 11 So would term limits help or hurt? It seems like the revolving door in DC is so bad that they are assimilated into the liberal-media-cocktail circuit within days of arriving. The only thing that keeps them from acting completely contrary to our interests is the fact they have to run for re-election.

I worry that without that threat, they would be completely out of control.

I know, I know, how could it be worse than it is now?

given the government bureaucracy and the labor agreements, it is truly difficult to fire a bureaucrat.  in a terrible way, the politicians are the only ones that are actually accountable -- and the incumbents have such a huge advantage that even that accountability is really small.

we need to be cognizant of the dictatorship of the bureaucracy and not cut off our ways to try to control that monster.

If you were told she was Whoopi's daughter or niece or something you'd believe, you'd see the resemblance. She had similar cheekbones, hair, and complexion. But all amped up with about 400% more femininity and youthful curvaceousness.. She actually was a model. The most objectively hot chick I've ever dated. Also the only professional model. People would often comment, unprompted on how stunning she was. It actually limits how much i can hate on Whoopi cause Whoopi reminds me of her.

But like everything, including short skirts, it will once again come back into fashion. The Democrats seem unable to show the 'old guard' the likes of Kerry, Pelosi, Reid, and Hillary the door. Obama is nothing but the waiter delivering their order to your table. We seem unable to tell the 'old guard' of our own party to sit the hell down and shut the hell up. So the young are going to get strapped with health insurance they can't possibly afford, pay for a social security system that even 20 million low information immigrants are only going to worsen, compete for jobs with the same group, and attempt to pay down a national debt that is out of control. I hope our side gets smarter before the other side.

The sequester helped some, as did new 404Care taxes (payouts start next year), new capital gain and top income taxes, plus a smallish recovery in the economy (especially oil and gas production).  But have no fear -- the deficit is expected to jump right back to a trillion for 2014 or 2015, I forget which.

Seriously, though, who signed for it and do they have the slightest inkling what they did with it? Go from there. Old firm once had someone misplace a FedEx package. A FedEx package with a check with several zeros on it. The client was coming in for their settlement proceeds and we had to, as in absolutely had to, overnight out a check to their mortgage company to keep them from getting thrown out of their house two days later. All hell breaks loose. Bosses are screaming at the receptionist and person who handles mail, paralegals are screaming at each other, I'm trying to stay out of everyone's eyesight, utter chaos. The office manager finally sat the receptionist down and very calmly took her through what did you do after you signed for it? We finally found it thrown out in the bathroom. She'd put it on her desk, the newspaper got put on top of it, one of the lawyers snagged the paper on the way to the bathroom and didn't realize he'd grabbed that too and it must have slipped out to the floor and he didn't notice, next person in the bathroom didn't realize that the envelope hadn't been opened and threw it out trying to clean up, paper towels got tossed on top of it and voila. I think the server's a little big for that though.

Even with the sucky economy, tax revenues are projected to give us a 700 Billion or 0.7 Trillion Deficit. (last I looked)

That's a bullshit number.

We're still running a deficit well north of a trillion dollars when QE is factored in. The Federal Reserve has effectively become the largest off balance sheet entity in history. They purchased $400 billion in U.S. Treasuries via their primary dealer network in FY2012. This is not counted as debt per se, but it is debt. Those Treasuries represent an obligation that will need to be repaid with interest by future taxpayers.
