— Ace This Whole Foods guy is not what I expected the Whole Foods guy to be.
choing his statement yesterday that he regrets using the word “fascism,” Mackey explained, “That was a bad choice of words, but traditionally socialism means that the means of production are run by the government and in fascism the means of production are still owned by private individuals but they’re controlled by the government. And what’s happening. Our health care system is moving away from free enterprise capitalism towards greater governmental control. That was a poor choice of words due to the baggage and associations that go along with it. So now I’m just calling it ‘government-controlled health care.’”An unsatisfied Costello then challenged Mackey, saying, “You realize when you say ‘fascism,’ it brings up Nazi Germany and all sorts of things. And we really want that kind language out of our public forum at the moment, don’t we?”
“Apparently you can’t use that word in America any longer, it’s taboo,” Mackey fired back.
I'm sure we all remember the media constantly objecting to "fascist" comparisons for George W. Bush.

No, it WASN'T a bad choice of words. Fascism is exactly the right term for what's happening. You've said it yourself. Quit apologizing for speaking the truth, people, FFS! INstead of beating the language into submission, let the language do what it's supposed to do and CALL THINGS WHAT THEY ARE.

"at the moment". hmmm...
It is interesting how we can no longer call what is "fascist", "fascist". That term became associated with Moussolini and, through him, with Hitler and Nazis. On its own, it's a legitimate political and economic philosophy. In fact, many people in this country, though they don't acknowledge it by that name, seem to subscribe to it.
"Legitimate" does not mean "right".

-----------------------------------------
I think he means that it's a poor choice in that calling something "fascist" tends to invoke a knee-jerk reaction as opposed to an honest evaluation of what the word really means. So instead of honestly evaluating his statement, people decide that since they can't find any gun-toting secret police then his statement must not be true.

He talked about revamping his company's health care to a voucher system that put the onus on employees to price shop and not abuse/waste their vouchers recklessly. You know, free market style. It was totally at odds with the entrenched liberal mindset about what employer healthcare should be, i.e. pay for all my shit at 100%. His system actually worked and saved him and his workers money and both sides were satisfied with how Mackey's plan worked.
He's still a libtard who voted for TFG. Only he's kind of like Steve Jobs, his real-world policies are at odds with what his politics are.

What's outrageous is that a guy whose company employs 73,000 people should be concerned about costs. How dare he pay any mind to increasing costs per employee. Just follow Obama, don't complain and get a waiver. It's what should be done.

If our society were more educated, and our media less up Obama's ass, this wouldn't have been necessary. As #17 MWR says, he was RIGHT. It IS fascism, damn it!
But because the majority of voters are idiots (and not morons, like you people here) and the media IS getting a first-hand view of what Obama ate, we're stuck. We can't use the actual words, can't tell the truth, because the media starts screaming "racism!" at the top of its collective lungs, and high-profile rumpswabs like Chrissy Matthews and Neblett start talking about code words and dog whistles.
I wonder how many years it will take for history books to cite how President Historic First Barack Obama did more damage to race relations than any other President in history?

Nazi Germany was fascist. It was not the ONLY fascist government to ever exist, and its fall did not mean the terminal end of fascism. If we're not allowed to suggest that something fascist is, in fact, fascist, just because by doing so we "conjure up images of Nazis," then in a few years we'll have to create another word for the exact same definition, which in another few decades we'll ALSO have to strike from the language.
"You do realize that when you use the term Obamunism it conjures up images of the Obama regime and the free shit army, right? And we really want that kind language out of our public forum at the moment, donÂ’t we?"
I refuse to let the MFM choose my language for me.

Yeah but it sounds like he's very aware of how the media has a hissy-fit when you call what they are actually doing what it actually is. So he's just going to go ahead and say something if it was the answer on Jeopardy all the contestants would buzz in answering "What is Fascism."

I don't think he did, this time. I'm pretty sure he did in 2008, but that was a little different. We were assured by many voices that things like State-Run Healthcare would "never happen."
If you actually believed that, and were tired of Bush, a vote for TFG (the first time) does not actually qualify you for the death camps. It's just strikes 1 and 2.

Their smoked andouille sausage is some of the best you'll ever taste. The prepared foods are under-seasoned, but I guess you have to do that for the unwashed masses.

"Roosevelt himself called Mussolini “admirable” and professed that he was “deeply impressed by what he has accomplished.” The admiration was mutual. In a laudatory review of Roosevelt’s 1933 book Looking Forward, Mussolini wrote, “Reminiscent of Fascism is the principle that the state no longer leaves the economy to its own devices.…Without question, the mood accompanying this sea change resembles that of Fascism.” "

Actually, Ron Paul had it right when he called it "corporatism".
Fascism, the word, has it's root in fascis, or the symbolic bundling of grass or wheat after harvest. The idea is to bundle together the enterprises of the individual under the approval of the State, for greater social strength.
It works, until it doesn't work so well, when people revolt or disagree with what the State wants.
And this is what Barack Hussein Soetoro Obama Jones wanted all along, if you understand what the New Party in Chicago was, which he was a part of in the 1990's , and which the record of has been partially scrubbed from the public record.
Hey, did you watch American Idol the other night??

He could have said something like, "I realize the term "fascism" carries a lot of historical significance that clouds people's judgement, and there's little to no media interest in clarifying the term outside of its historical context. Well, we do live now in a proto-facist state. That is the reality.
This is what Obama, Organizing for America, David Axelrod and a host of others wanted. The idea that we are a Constitutional Republic is quaint but not operational. It has been questionable for some years, but Obama has put an end to that.
There is no going back, either. There will be no re-birth of the Republic that we once might have known. The political class has gotten a taste of this and likes it, so there is no reprieve from a change of parties in power. We are going to have to live with this for some time, until the culture changes, until we have bloody revolution, or until the country splits apart (subset of the bloody revolution).
The idiots in the Massive Bullshit Media love it, until the government starts to turn on them, which it will in time. It will be a little fun to what those idiots squeal like the little piglets they are.

I fail to see how that's any different than the liberal position today. Fascism wasn't limited to the Nazis; the original Fascists didn't go quite as murder happy but didn't do much to improve Italy, either, despite their deluded belief in Il Duce.
Actually, if you ever get a chance, read a biography on Mussolini. He really was the archetypical liberal. He believed in his own infallibility, got the chance to prove it, failed miserably, become whiny and depressed, but never allowed his public persona to admit of doubt.

Not entirely true.
Only pussies regularly shop at Whole Foods. But their produce really is much better (and they do sell non-organic stuff) than most grocery stores around here.
I make my own salsa every now and again. If I want it to be really good, I go to WF for my jalepeno and habenero peppers. Also, if I want really good cheese I'll go there.
For anything else, though, I'll stick with Kroger, Aldi, or Walmart.

I don't know why not. He's been "out" as a libertarian for years. Most of his doofus customers hate it and they briefly pondered a boycott, but ultimately they just can't quit him. Libertarians are just too good at customer satisfaction, even when the customers are commies.

Occasionally I have to go there to get stuff that often isn't sold elsewhere. (I'm a fan of Manchego Cheese from when I spent time in Spain, it's remarkably hard to find and they do better on the the imports.)
Also (rarely) hard to find spices. Once I had to go there to get some specilized sugar for homebrewing (that was a bit strange.)
Also, I might go there to get something from their deli counter (like premade chicken salad.) To then end though I think of it more like a grab and go resturant than a grocery store.

Ponder this in light of recent discoveries.
David Gregory wouldn't get indicted on 21 counts of bribery and wire fraud. Why is wrong when black people do it?
Evaluate their claims in their context. It's bogus, but it's not completely bogus. Many cynics have simply adapted themselves to their environment. This is what you get from a lot of black democrats in response to this type of corruption - oh, sure punish the black democrats for lawbreaking, but you don't punish the white democrats for the same shit.
And we don't, we really don't! Equality under the law is mostly a farce in this country, which invites that sort of speculation amongst the racially aggravated.

You know what is most galling about that interview -- rather than focusing on the substance of his objections to Obamacare, she wanted to shame him for using the word Fascist. She then had the gall to ask him why he was even daring to speak out against the law.
Of course, why would any of us, least of all a CEO of a company employing 73,000 people, have the need to speak on matters of public concern. We have the media and the liberals to tell us what the right opinions are. Once the party line is established, there is no more need for us to question.
I realize the media has always been liberal (at least for the last 50 or 60 years), but until Obama it seemed like they at least were willing to objectively question government actions somewhat (regardless of the party then in power). I guess they are giving up the pretense of objectivity.
But to their credit, they did cover the Lance Armstrong and Manti T'eo thing pretty well. So they have that going for them.

There are some things in life where you need the assistance of someone who is totally flamingly gay. Cheese buying is one of those things.
Whole Foods (at least the one I shop at) keeps at least one of these fairies in the cheese and olive section at all times. They know every item, practically skip around to cut you a slice to taste and make excellent recommendations.

I reject that white politicians do not go to jail for wire fraud, etc. Look at New Jersey. Look at Illinois. They do. Sometimes by the dozens
Again - the claim doesn't have to be completely true, only partially true. I'm just saying to acknowledge their persperctive. It's not correct, it's bogus - but it's not completely bogus. There is some merit to it. We live under rule of the connected.
It is in that context, in that reality, that they are able to so easily rationalize re-electing him. Elect a white politcian and he will steal for his white buddies, and be a hero for it. Elect a black politician and he steals for his black buddies, he might go to jail for it, sure he's breaking the law, but at least this thief steals for them.

Not go get off topic too much, but I am interested in what the big deal is with Breitbart. I've followed politics since 95 or so and Breitbart only came to may attention in the last 4 years or so and i wouldn't have considered him a top tier conservative thinker. i have nothing against him but he seems kind of overhyped and I don't think crashing the weiner presser did much for the conservative movement.

Breitbart valued freedom, saw what was going on in the war for what it was and out Alinsky'd the Alinskyists in the Donk party.
He was on the media 24/7 and could turn an occutard rally into a reflection on the merits of freedom.
The world is a sadder place with his passing.
