143 Not knowing what it was that a National Security Adviser actually does, I went searching, and learned that the Adviser 'serves on' the National Security Council, and the NSC is chaired by the President, and includes Secretary of State, and Defense, and Chairman of the Joint Chiefs.

I suspect these exalted very very important personages don't necessarily attend a formal meeting of the NSC and I presume that they all delegate trusted assistants to attend those meetings, if any. So the obvious conclusion is Rice will, while acting in behalf of the very very busy president, 'chair' the NSC; prioritizing the agenda items, directing research and analysis, and choosing which agenda items to bring to the President's attention along with the recommend actions needed.

Which brings me to my point. No single individual, no royal personage, no tyrant or dictator by themselves can rule a country. It takes trusted comrades who will see that orders are carried out, and a loyal army to supply the necessary force of arms to back up those orders.

That is why Obama wants Rice as NSA, she can be trusted to do what she is told to do, and the Obama administration is stuffed to the rafters with like minded individuals and sycophants along with a large number of cowed submissive drones who are trying to make it to retirement.

I believe that Obama makes 'suggestions' to his advisers who then generate a list of options if they don't carry out the suggestion directly. I took a cab in Boise ID and the driver was a student with a family who said his plan was under graduation, then law school... then President of the DRC.  I should have gotten his name in case he was right.<P>

He said his first move would be to allow foreigners to become citizens of the DRC because then they would have a stake in it's future and help stop the wars.<P>
