Lifelong Vikings fan, living in the Broncos Sphere of Influence. this is the first Vikes game I've been able to see all season, and yup, Christian Ponder is out. Being a Vikings fan is a thankless task and I wonder why I bother.

The good news is I have Eagle Rare single barrel bourbon to bolster my flagging spirits.

18 I'm in a tricky position here. I am a Vikings fan, but lived in WI during the Holmgren/Favre era when it was pretty hard not to like the Pack. Moreover, my kids are Cheese Heads (and, indeed, were at last weeks' game in Minneapolis. The latest is that Ponder is inactive (bursitis in his throwing shoulder) and that Webb will start. Sadly, the only video I can get of the games has narration by that evil imp Costas. I have the sound off.

I think that is more societal than geographical. Parents don't kick their kids out of the house anymore to run and play. Some of this makes sense since when I was growing up there were tons of kids in the neighborhood to play with (average house had 4-6 kids) so pick up sports were easy. 4 TV channels and no video games also drove kids to fat burning activities. There also were no snacks to speak of in my house you ate at breakfast lunch and dinner (who could afford anything more with 6 kids)

McCarthy is probably the most conservative coach when he has a lead in the second half and especially in the fourth quarter. His reasoning is, they're not giving away schemes and game planning to the next opponent. Problem is, in a game like this you leave your most important player, Aaron Rodgers, on the field way to long.

If he was worried about keeping people healthy, he wouldn't have his starters playing with five minutes left to play. As I said, McCarthy goes to a simplistic offense so he's not, in his mind, giving away anything for the next game.
