With At Least 500,000 People Who Had Had Insurance Now Without It, Obama Creates More Law With His Mouth-Hole
— Ace

Obama is now saying that 500,000 people who previously had insurance now don't have it, and that is is a lie. The number is much higher. As Andy points out, for this number to be true, every other person who got insurance from Obamacare would have had to have been one of the 4-7 million people who had it taken away from them.

But that's what they're willing to admit to.

Less than a half million people whose health insurance was canceled under President Barack Obama's new law have not yet found other coverage, the administration said Thursday.

However, officials said that figure could shrink in the coming days. Americans have until Dec. 23 to purchase insurance and ensure they have no gap in coverage if their current plans are among those that will be canceled at the end of the month.

The cancellations have become a nagging problem for the White House, compounding the widespread technology failures that marred the rollout of the nation's health care law.

Since the law's passage in 2010, President Barack Obama repeatedly promised that people who liked their insurance would be able to keep it. However, the law set minimum requirements for coverage, meaning people who obtained subpar plans after the law was passed would have to find new coverage.

More than 4 million people have had their plans canceled because their coverage does not meet the new standards. Some of those people are purchasing new plans through their insurance company or the government exchanges.

So, this is an embarrassment, yes? The law intended to insure the uninsured is instead uninsuring the insured.

Must be time for Obama to make a Speech Law.

Little problem: Most of those who had plans before had good plans, comprehensive plans.

They will now be allowed to purchase catastrophic plans... but at comprehensive plan prices.

The Wall Street Journal reports:

The Obama administration said Thursday it would allow millions of Americans whose insurance policies had been canceled to purchase bare-bones plans next year, in another eleventh-hour tweak to the law likely to cause consternation among insurance carriers.

Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius told a group of six senators in a letter viewed by The Wall Street Journal that people whose policies had been canceled because of new requirements under the health law would be allowed to purchase 'catastrophic' plans. Those plans had previously been restricted to people under the age of 30 or individuals who qualified for a set of specific hardship exemptions.

Does Obama really think that insurance companies can write these policies, advertise them, get sign-ups and get a first payment in 11 days?

I believe he doesn't believe that.

None of these fixes are designed to be fixes. They're designed to appear to be fixes, so when people are uninsured, Obama can say, "I tried. I gave them options."

Just never the option of what he promised: Of keeping health insurance they liked.

61 Insurance companies are not actually businesses in his eyes. They are conduits to an entitlement and, as such, the normal rules for conducting business do not apply. Profit, and shareholders, and the consequences of bad decisions are no more deserving of thought than the proper management of any other entitlement program. The "companies" themselves are a means to an end and the sooner they can be made to suffer and fail, the sooner Obama and his cronies can move on to a single payer system.

100 My catastrophic plan was better than any of these "comprehensive" plans. And it only cost $90/mo. before being outlawed. My plan paid nothing up to 5K, and everything from there up to 2 million. On qhick glance, the best Ogabecare does is pay 90% after the huge deductible.

102 On the Ohio exchanges, there is not a single insurer that is selling catastrophic policies - because they are noncompliant with the ACA. So Lord Barack can wave his hand and allow people to purchase them - but ain't nobody gonna be able to because they don't exist. What the hell - blame your insurance companies lofos.

The Commerce Clause, as interpreted by the contemporary federal courts, is a marvel of elasticity.

It can simultaneously expand to such an astronomically large radius as to govern whether a farmer can grow wheat for himself on his own farmland, while shrinking to a radius of effectiveness of zero in cases of things genuinely related to interstate commerce but of no interest to the feds.

Sort of like the "portable hole" gimmick in old-time animated cartoon shorts. A thousand and one uses. When the uses are federally approved, that is.

231 My late mom's sweet, angelic "boyfriend" died last Wednesday at 94.

He made the last few years of Mother's life fun and sweet.  They lived down the hall from each other at a local retirement home.

His son said in his dad's last few days, he was asking where his late wife was.  Just as my mom wanted to see my dad.  The night before she passed four years ago, she told her nurse, "I see the most beautiful angel over there in the corner!  I'm hearing the most incredibly beautiful music I've ever heard!"

I can't imagine choosing to not believe.  I'm happy knowing Mother and Daddy are together again, and my mother's sweetheart is with his beloved late wife.

What a great Christmas for them.

Let's all remember for a moment how the Reagans typically celebrated Christmas: quietly in their private quarters at the White House, occasionally at Camp David.

None of this high profile travel to exotic destinations on AF1 for them.

The Reagans explained that once they had realized what an enormous burden it was on the various staffs who have to support Presidential travel, that there was no way they were going to impose those burdens on those staffers and their families without good reason, ESPECIALLY at Christmastime.

Yep, they believe they are going to lose every senate race if they suspend the individual mandate for a year.  Trying to make sure they have the last two years of Obumbles having protection to put his final marxist policies in place.

Course we are all still paying thru the nose because the insurance policies have changed.

359 Interesting tidbit about Phil Robertson (pretty sure it was Phil).  In high school he was the starting quarterback, and was a lot better than the second string QB.  The only reason that the second stringer got the job, was Phil just up and quit one day, because he wanted to be hunting instead of playing football.

The second string QB was Terry Bradshaw.

360 Like the other four plans on healthcare.gov? and this is new? You get sick, you go to the hospital, you pay the first 20k and insurance kicks in after that? and it only costs you 8k per year? and this is better? Posted by: Proma Willus at December 19, 2013 10:19 PM (B03DD) We're getting your money one way or the other. You white people have been getting away with everything for ever and now it's time to pay up. Back breaking taxes, what I'm doing to you now with healthcare, confiscation...whatever way we're taking your shit and giving it to the people you've oppressed for centuries. And when we've squeezed you dry, we're going to kill you.
