Buchholz has bounced back from the most recent injury nicely. That makes twice in one season that he's been a "comeback player" and that's pretty cool.
I didn't have faith in him before the season, but he's proven me wrong.
Lord, It's hard to be humble.

Spare us your revisionist history.
Complain about the 27th out and I will grant a review....with a review of every other pitch and call.
How many perfect games really weren't?

Jim Joyce made the absolute right call last night. Now if you want to sacrifice him for writing that unreadable doorstop of a book that all English majors had to read, be my guest....

Yes, he did. But to equate, or otherwise attribute one call to the other is intellectually dishonest.

Of course he blew the call!
I have seen it (too many times) and it is not even debatable.
But how many calls during that game should have gone the other way? How many called strikes were actually balls? How many close outs were actually safe?
Baseball has huge problems, but a blown call in a possible perfect game thrown by a crappy pitcher who just got lucky isn't one of them.

Baseball needs instant replay, just like the NFL, because the NFL is perfect and never misses any calls.

I wanted to play football for the coach.
And all those older guys, they said that he was mean and cruel, but you know,
I wanted to play football for the coach.
They said I was a little too lightweight to play linebacker so's I'd be playing right end
But I wanted to play football for the coach.
'Cause you know something man, you gotta stand up straight unless you're gonna fall.
Then you're going to die.
And the straightest dude I ever knew was standing right by me all the time
So I had to play football for the coach.
And I wanted to play football for the coach.

There is correct and incorrect. This is not untrue in the occasion previously depicted. There are judgements made and variables involved, but the occasion in question is not one of those.

I'd be willing to settle for both planes crashing into a snow-capped Andes mountain plateau, with the survivors forced to cannibalize the dead for several weeks until rescued.
Are you there, God? It's me, Jeff B. Nationals fan.

That was the judgment the umpire had to make, and I believe he made it correctly.
Interestingly, the MLB story mentioned that if the runner was not making a serious effort to score, then it would have been within the ump's judgment to call him out.
It was a weird play, but I don't think there should be any call to modify the rules.

That jibes with everything I've heard about him. He and Manny Machado will be fixtures at 3B for BOS and BAL, respectively, for years to come.
These guys are going to be "noteworthy", to say the least.
