Yeah So This Madonna Thing Huh?
— Ace

Have you seen this? I watched it last night. You can check Twitchy for my live-tweet review. 90% of my comments were direct quotes from C.S. Lewis.

Video below the fold.

Jack Straw suggests you read this WSJ piece: Just allow ObamaCare to happen, and let it collapse, and Let It Burn. The idea here would be to permit liberal policy to bloom such that it will be disastrous and therefore discredited forever.

Yeah: Let it Burn, baby.

And two from the Could This Possibly Be True Or Is This Just An Internet Make-'em-Up Department:

Chick freaks out over perfectly polite break-up, and then says she has no regrets;

and then there's this bizarre Craigslist posting, in which some guy is either fantasizing about weird sex with Lena Dunham (you already lost me; can't get there, brah) or is describing weird sex that happened with Lena Dunham, or is some kind of weird celebrity-centered slash-fic or... I don't know.

Don't know.

Don't wanna know.

Highlight with your cursor to read the following excerpt. Or better yet, don't. Content Warning.

I know I confided in you that I read all the Baby-sitters Club books. And that, yes, I like the occasional finger up the butt. But you know I'm not gay. I guess this was just you fucking with me.

So, so many questions I don't have.

It actually gets worse.

And Open Thread.

12 WSJ
The Supreme Court Ruled, Chief Justice Roberts said Obama care is a tax, and that it is. It will never go away.

What happens with a socialist Command and Control Central Committee in Charge of Affordable Health Care for all citizens will never go away, and people will just pay the tax. (In this meaning of the word 'tax', it means the burden of the boondoggle bureaucratic byzantine monstrosity also know as Affordable Care Act).

We will just bear the burden and there will then be an underground black market economy, cash based economy where we go to get our medical treatment.

15 For the LIV, the coming collapse will be the fault of whoever the TV tells them it is.  It's as simple as that.  We are no longer an informed populace and are, therefore, not serious.  Look to our politicians (mostly dummycrap, but all of them really) as an indicator of just how bad our problem is.

39 from wsj link;
No matter what Sen. Ted Cruz and his allies do, ObamaCare won't die. It would return another day in some other incarnation. The Democrats would argue, rightly, that the ideas inside ObamaCare weren't defeated. What the Democrats would lose is a vote in Congress, nothing more.

while i agree with this, This must be the worst time to let it go ahead?
The economy is horrid for millions at this time
many cannot hang on through the waiting period. one more dun from IRS might be the difference for many in making their mortgages a few more times.
when people are working 29 hours a week, or have had their jobs cut to a painful degree, having IRS have a free hand to garnish etc people during these times might actually destroy families.

49 "The idea here would be to permit liberal policy to bloom such that it will be disastrous and therefore discredited forever."

Its a Hotel California thingy.... stab it with a steely knife but you can't kill it permanently, it keeps coming back... Robespierre, Stalin, Hitler, Mao, Fidel, Pol Pot, and so forth.  I support the concept of letting Ocare crash and burn, but shrieking crazy utopia dreaming will keep coming back from the ashes every few generations.  Freedom requires a population that yearns to be free, responsible, and vigilant. We may be on the cusp of a change of course, but we still have a long way to go.  If the under 30 crowd doesn't scream and wail and tear their hair out over what Ocare will do to their pocket books and the economy we have no more than 3 years before the shooting starts.

55 The idea here would be to permit liberal policy to bloom such that it will be disastrous and therefore discredited forever.

If only this were even possible. It succumbs to the Liberal I Can Be Anything Theorem wherein the next generation is stuck with the same "Oh, I know life can be perfect!" delusional utopian fantasy that got the current generation's head so far up its ass, and so the next generation repeats the same essential jackassery as their parents, but the technology is different colors or something, so they think things are actually different.

Without SMOD, I doubt that forever will ever come.

Madonna is business savvy, but she isn’t educated, knowledgeable or intelligent. She’s not witty or artistically gifted or sophisticated. She just got lucky latching onto some basic themes in the 1980s that she’s been milking ever since by completely changing her hair style, clothing and “personality” every few years.

And all of that would be fine if you can still entertain people — which clearly she can. She wouldn’t bother me if she would just shut up, do her act onstage and then go home. But oh no, not Madonna — she keeps trying to prove that she’s an “artiste,” that her opinions on other things MATTER, that she’s still edgy, and that whatever her image of the moment is is REAL and ATTENTION MUST BE PAID!

ItÂ’s her insistence on trying to have talents and artistic cred that she doesnÂ’t have that makes her so offensive to me.

As the Israelis say - price tag! _____________________ Hard to say for sure at this point if any of them escaped, given the confusion at the scene. But it's being reported that the last terrorist alive inside the mall burned the other terrorists' bodies in an attempt to make them unidentifiable. The police still haven't been able to get access to the entire mall site, because the area around where the terrorists set off explosives (and caved in several floors) is very unstable, and also the police fear the terrorists may have set up booby traps with grenades or other explosives in the mall, so they're proceeding very cautiously. But the carnage they've found so far is gut-wrenching. These scum were brutally torturing many of the victims before they killed them.

Can't risk riling up all those bitter clinging Islamophobes out in flyover country! 173 ...this WSJ piece: Just allow ObamaCare to happen, and let it collapse, and Let It Burn. The idea here would be to permit liberal policy to bloom such that it will be disastrous and therefore discredited forever. That's perfectly okay. There's surely a number of them that, instead of allowing Obamacare to collapse under its own weight, would actually dive in and try to "fix" it.

And it was mildly entertaining in a "little tramp" Charlie Chaplin or Keystone Cops kind of slapstick humorous way. Apparently Madonna thinks that her popularity in the 80's and 90's gives her the credibility to make insightful and poignant political commentary.  Would so much rather see her prove her mental capacity to really articulate a position in a debate with Michelle Bachman or Sarah Palin.  I can hear it now...she's getting schooled on what's actually written in the Constitution and her only response is to say...

"Oh yeah, well, well...my vagina's bigger than yours!"  To which the moderator, Hillary Clinton says "Now, that's something I'd really like to see."

183 M. Night Shyamalan should make a movie where the twist is that there is no twist. And Chubby checker could be in it. #NODISRESPECTTOBENAFFLECK

For all we know, he did.  The general rule of thumb is that Democrat vote fraud is about 5% in most elections.

"If we let Obamacare be implemented and fail, it will create a lot of bitter, poor people. Democrat voters easy for them to manipulate or buy."

Next, we'll have the single-payer crowd. They say "of course, Obamacare didn't work. It didn't go far enough. We need something like the Brits or the Canadians have."

186 I don't think we can take the chance of "letting it burn." If history is to be our example, once lefties take over, it has taken decades for the walls of tyranny to come down. It has also cost about 100 million lives. Also, there are those True Believers that refuse to give up on the lefty dream of so-called Social Justice - which is neither just nor very social, talk amongst yourselves - hanging on till the bitter end. Just look at Venezuela. There are people down there that are miserable, of course, but still supporting the policies of the late anti-social psychopath Chavez in spite of that misery. When you look at countries like Argentina, for example, which were basically gutted by lefty policies, you see that getting back to where ya once were may never happen. Argentina was once among the world's most prosperous nations. Since leftists took over, they have never been the same. Can we really take the chance that people will see that lefty policies don't work when we look at the examples that history has provided us? No, I don't think we can. If the deaths of 100 million people world wide that has occurred under lefty regimes hasn't been evidence enough for people to see the light, what will it take? They think that true communism just hasn't been tried, but they are the ones to do it. They think that the U.S.S.R. wasn't a "true" communist country, and Pol Pot? Oh, that wasn't true communism. Well, it was. Lefty ideas lead to bloody ends. History has shown us this. So we have to stand up against them. There can be no detente.
