— LauraW Remember this guy?
I spoke to two of the sponsors. One, Sen. Adam Kline, D-Seattle, a lawyer who typically is hyper-attuned to civil-liberties issues, said he did not know the bill authorized police searches because he had not read it closely before signing on.“I made a mistake,” Kline said. “I frankly should have vetted this more closely.”
Well, lookie here. Progressives lie about their true goals. Who knew?
Except that it doesnÂ’t appear to be a mistake at all.Senator Kline was a sponsor of an assault weapons bill in the 2009-2010 session which contained the EXACT SAME PROVISION. From Bill 6396:
(5) In order to continue to possess an assault weapon that was legally possessed on the effective date of this section, the person possessing the assault weapon shall do all of the following:
(a) Safely and securely store the assault weapon. The sheriff of the county may, no more than once per year, conduct an inspection to ensure compliance with this subsection;
And that's not even the only previous bill he sponsored with nearly the exact same language!
Follow the 'lookie here' link, both for the rest of Blackiswhite's post (short but packed with good stuff), and his awesome photo masthead, which is a hilarious photo he himself captured.
Kline absolutely knew that home searches were mentioned in there, there was no mistake or misunderstanding about that, because that has been his idea all along, for years!
The facility with which these mendacious weasels act all astonished of their own wrongdoing is truly noteworthy.
It goes without saying that you don't need to resort to this kind of theatrical dishonesty when you're doing something popular...or legal.
Thanks to Blackiswhite.

Demetrius Murphy, 15, died Friday morning after he and another teen, Michael Bryant, allegedly tried to break into a manÂ’s home on Tennessee. Police say the homeowner emerged with a gun. Bryant ran, but they say Murphy confronted him and was shot and killed.

Posted by: Vocabulary police at February 20, 2013 10:35 AM (lHb9q)
No, "logistic" is the correct term. In biological computations, growth is limited by a finite population. Were there no limits on the growth potential, it could be logarithmic, but because of the growth limits, any effect must taper off as a larger portion of the population is affected.

You must have forgot that the legislative branches in an effort to thwart the will of the people have created a regulatory administration at every level of government that has wide latitude to implement a wide range of things through "necessary and proper" clauses that have not been stipulated in the texts of the laws.
You have passed a law that says you want police to inspect homes but there is insufficient money for this, so the necessary and proper" clause would stipulate that taxes must be raised in order to fulfill this law.
It's self generating law and enslavement inch-by-inch!

Let's flash back to the last time the "draft" came to a vote in the House. Charlie Rangel introduced HR163 (108th session), the `Universal National Service Act of 2003'. Charlie Rangel's bill expressly indicated that the draft would be for .. a retreat.
(b) FORM OF NATIONAL SERVICE- National service under this Act shall be performed either--
(1) as a member of an active or reverse component of the uniformed services; or
(2) in a civilian capacity that, as determined by the President, promotes the national defense, including national or community service and homeland security. No, I didn't misspell "reserve" ... it's in the bill as "reverse" .. in 5 different places. The "twin" bill in the Senate, S 89 (Hollings D-SC), used "reserve" in those 5 different places.
This bill, HR163, actually came to a vote on the floor of the House.
Charlie Rangel voted against his own bill.

This clown's biography reads like the typical 60's radical. What a consummate fuckhead.
http://senatedemocrats.wa.gov/senators/kline/biography.htm
Here's a sample. Oh, btw - when he talks about his "tour of duty" and being a "foot soldier," he ain't talking about being in the military:
...Those two years were actually my second tour of duty in Mississippi. I'd been in that same town, Greenwood, during Freedom Summer, 1964. At the age of 20, I hadn't a lick of sense, and had marched off to fight my generation's battles in the same invincible spirit with which 20-year-olds do most everything. And in 1964, it seemed, everybody was 20 years old, and united in opposition to racial segregation and all its evils. My job in Greenwood was to register voters for the Mississippi Freedom Democratic Party, to which all were welcome regardless of race. I was one of a dozen or so volunteers in Greenwood with the Student Non-violent Coordinating Committee, or SNCC.
I was a foot-soldier in our generation's battles, and the experience seems to have set the tone for the rest of my life. Back to college at Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore, and still in the spirit, I decided to take that year off from study and work in an SDS-sponsored organizing project in East Baltimore's slums. (Remember SDS--Students for a Democratic Society? We were radical, we were belligerent, and sometimes we were self-righteous. But you know something? By and large, we were right.) It was a year well spent for a young man interested in social policy, and the lessons I learned are still with me...
Gah, I need a shower reading this crap. What a dumb fuck.
"Remember SDS--Students for a Democratic Society? We were radical, we were belligerent, and sometimes we were self-righteous. But you know something? By and large, we were right."
In other words, "Shut up, proles. I know what's good for you and you're going to accept it and LIKE it. Don't you dare complain!"
I find it convenient that his wife is a three term Superior Court judge in King's County. How nice.

If the GOP were smart, the 2014 elections would be all about gun control and nothing else. People won't get up to vote over minimum wage and taxes for the rich and definitely not spending cuts.
But people will vote if they think the government is coming after their guns.
This should be the primary talking point of the 2014 elections. Don't fall for the press who will ask isn't there anything else you can run on. They just want you to stop talking guns. The Dems are doing us a favor, if the GOP is willing to exploit it.

They do this shit all the time - repeating even more outrageous claims and we take the bait and try to defend against it "No no no, we're not trying to kill seniors and starve minorities, and here's why..." And then the Dems wait for the explanation, and repeat the accusation with more force and the LIV can only assimilate the catchprase they've heard over and over

Yes, what is the old adage, if your explaining your losing. Let's use the liberal playbook on something that has broad public support.
You know what else has broad public support - voter ID. Every state politician should be running on this. It has huge support, because there is simply no reason to oppose voter ID.
These are the issues to run on in most elections. Not spending. Clearly the American people do not care about spending.

It's been my experience that when things go bad, they go bad in a hurry. One minute everything's cool, everything's normal, you're buying smokes at the convenience store on your way home, and then the next minute you're out in the parking lot fighting for your life against a pack of crackheads dumb enough to think you have money.

When Tom Coburn and other members of the Oklahoma delegation were first elected, they all rented an apartment together, and they came home from Washington every weekend. They DID NOT SOCIALIZE with that Washington crowd.
I have no doubt that keeping representatives away from that Big Government Washington infections is in the Best interests of the States, and the national government. But how to accomplish this?

Last week, arguing against concealed carry on campus, Salazar suggested that women might not be able to tell if they're actually in danger, and if armed, might shoot innocent people.
Salazar issued a qualified apology Monday night to anyone who was offended. Tuesday, he apologized without reservation, saying he was deeply sorry.

104 If you bought Detroit, what would you do with it?
Prime waterfront property, midway between Chicago and Toronto, gateway to the U.S. for Canadian trade, no hurricanes or earthquakes, all in all a good place to put a city.
The only thing needed to start a great city is to clean out the people who now reside there. Terrible attitudes, entitlement mentality coupled with union arrogance and exceptionally low intellegence.
Imagine the city that could be built if Detroit was totally evacuated and everything could be done new from the ground up.

Does someone know what the support would be for gun ownership in inner cities?
My reseoning for asking is this. I've long thought that the GOP should find ways to offer their own free stuff, but free stuff that is in conservatives best interest.
What if someone proposed a program to offer free guns (along with free gun safety course) to people who meet certain incentives: no-criminal history, pays taxes, etc. We should encourage more responsible gun ownership.
Now maybe such a program would never work (and maybe it is really a bad idea - I just thought of it), but I think it is something to consider. People like free stuff, so let's give them something that may help us and help society in general.

What if someone proposed a program to offer free guns (along with free gun safety course) to people who meet certain incentives: no-criminal history, pays taxes, etc. We should encourage more responsible gun ownership.
The immediate problem I see with actually giving away free guns is that it makes the recipients instant targets for their criminal neighbors who want a stolen piece to go commit mayhem. But I would absolutely support providing free gun safety and practice programs, with perhaps some kind of voucher or discount for a firearm purchase. That way you leave it to the individual to decide if he or she wants the responsibility of being a gun owner, and you give them the training and access that let's them know if they'd be a good one.

The coach had put together the perfect team for the Detroit Lions. The only thing that was missing was a good quarterback. He had scouted all the colleges and even the Canadian and European Leagues, but he couldn't find a ringer who could ensure a Super Bowl win.
Then one night while watching CNN he saw a war-zone scene in Afghanistan . In one corner of the background, he spotted a young Afghan Muslim soldier with a truly incredible arm. He threw a hand-grenade straight into a 15th story window 100 yards away.
KABOOM!
He threw another hand-grenade 75 yards away, right into a chimney.
KA-BLOOEY!
Then he threw another at a passing car going 90 mph.
BULLS-EYE!
"I've got to get this guy!" Coach said to himself. "He has the perfect arm!"
So, he brings him to the States and teaches him the great game of football. And the Bears go on to win the Super Bowl.
The young Afghan is hailed as the great hero of football, and when the coach asks him what he wants, all the young man wants is to call his mother.
"Mom," he says into the phone, "I just won the Super Bowl!"
"I don't want to talk to you, the old Muslim woman says."You are not my son!"
"I don't think you understand, Mother," the young man pleads. "I've won the greatest sporting event in the world. I'm here among thousands of my adoring fans."
"No! Let me tell you!" his mother retorts. "At this very moment, there are gunshots all around us. The neighborhood is a pile of rubble. Your two brothers were beaten within an inch of their lives last week, and I have to keep your sister in the house so she doesn't get raped!" The old lady pauses, and then tearfully says,
"I will never forgive you for making us move to Detroit !!!!

There has actually been a court case for this kind of shit. When they were trying to start the building of Turkey Point (South FL) the intervenors sued and tried to stop it based on proximity to Cuba who could target it with their air force or invasion. They wanted the plant security to be configured to repel this type of invasion by Cuba. Which of course was impossible give the laws in effect (and still in effect) and the cost.
The case went all the way to the Supremes (IIRC) who ruled that the regulation required protection from local and roving civilian threats. Invasions by foreign forces were the responsibility of the Federal Government. (provide for the common defense)
In this case companies should be responsible for protected the US from cyber attack for China. The companies should be responsible for protecting from the loser in mom's basement who, when not posting here, tries to send out viruses and hack sites for the fun of it.
But as I said this morning, the most you can expect out of the Obamanites is a letter, and probably not even strongly worded.

"Cops have enough time/funding to inspect gun storage? "
Sure they do. (1) Pull them off actual crime fighting duty and emphasize gun inspection instead. (2) Pay overtime to existing cops and hire more, coupled with a tax increase on the rich (redefine "rich" downward as needed) to pay for it. Tighter regulation and control of law abiding citizens is of much higher priority than spending time dealing with predators.

Honestly, I think the Twitter mention in that article -- and most articles -- is a slam designed to make the criticism seem silly. "Old folks" think of social networking as that thing the teenagers do, while your average Twitter user uses it primarily to shoot the shit with friends, not as a serious mode of communication. So they dismiss the criticism simply because the MFM mentioned Twitter.
All that story had to say was "fueled by conservative outrage," or, "fueled by conservative protests both online and at home." There was no need to mention Twitter. It takes what is a very powerful tool for communication and turns it into a childish game. It's insulting when MFM outlets do it. Twitter may have helped the story go national, but it was individuals who heard the comments and who shared those comments who knew that it was newsworthy.

Yes, last night on Tulsa's local news, which is becoming more Liberal everyday, they had a married couple, both of whom managed a Carl's Jr fast food restaurant and they were telling their tale of woe. The person who owns the 29 franchises fired them because he needs to get his business down to part-timers or start forking over $750,000 for mandatory coverage of his full time folks. They were outraged over their fate, but, it is simple business economics. They have been running similar stories about Taco Bell franchise owners and Wendy's. So what do they expect someone who has managed to build up ownership in businesses to do?

She was a prostitute who killed 7 men in 2 years. Claimed self-defense. Florida gave her the needle in 2002.

Maybe that's what these fucking totalitarians want. We're just collateral damage in their quest to cement their position in the new feudal order. We're just numbers - taxpaying cattle that can be replaced if it serves their "greater good". Fuck them. I wish them great personal misfortune.
"Democrats want to take your guns--all of your guns. And any who say otherwise are lying."

Did any of you read that "What I saw at the coup" thing? Where the "fictional" White House figured they could wipe out all opposition by decapitating (literally) some 2,000 of the thought leaders on the right?
I think the real numbers being run behind the scenes by these progressives is around a 1,000 to 10,000 times that. Very matter-of-factually discussed.
Remember their hero: "A single death is a tragedy, a million a statistic."
Remember the mentor to their current leader jawboned in bull sessions about the necessary elimination of some 25% of the population?
We are not dealing with people who consider themselves Americans first.

Now maybe such a program would never work (and maybe it is really a bad idea - I just thought of it), but I think it is something to consider. People like free stuff, so let's give them something that may help us and help society in general.

If you are suggesting a government program, we would be attempting to use the tools of the dark side. Bad things will come of it.

Actually, logistic growth can be thought of as exponential growth in a finite space. It's exponential as long as the space is not a factor. When it is, the growth converges rapidly to the maximum possible value.
It's a simple model based on a simple differential equation.

I use the term all the time in the various discussions I have with drug legalization supporters. I always characterize drugs as an infection that spreads through the population according to a logistical growth model, same as other infectious diseases.

But, equal pay for equal work, making women safe from violence and rape, and so on--that is a lose-lose for them. So, they are single issue and what a nasty, creepy fait accompli it is--Mothers murdering their children as a Civil Right.

And therein lies an example of our prime difficulty. The people who actually inform the American people on issues which are necessary for them to vote responsibly, are almost uniformly Leftist Democrat Union Members from New York and Los Angeles.
We ONLY lose because of these people. Without their intentional sabotage of our message and our candidates, the Democrats could not win an election.

All that story had to say was "fueled by conservativeoutrage," or, "fueled by conservative protests both online and at home." There was no need to mention Twitter. It takes what is a very powerful tool for communication and turns it into a childish game. It's insulting when MFM outlets do it. Twitter may have helped the story go national, but it was individuals who heard the comments and who shared those comments who knew that it was newsworthy.

There intention is to damage any effort on our part to work around them. Mockery is one of their most effective tools. We need to turn the tables. They are so much more mockable.

The topic of how conservatives are way behind when it comes to getting the message out and losing the media fight.
Wouldn't developing a simple information operations campaign around a topic that appeals emotionally, someone mentioned gun-grabbing, be a great project for some go-getters from a university young conservatives club? If I knew some college age kids I'd suggest that. Don't know any.

We always find out that 'a staffer' wrote the bill or 'a staffer' read the bill to the congressman and left that part out. Why in the name of Hell's Sock Drawer are we voting for Congressmen? We should be voting on these damn STAFFERS!!!!

Of course they want to confiscate our guns.
Why else would they put that thing in O-care to make Doctors ask:
"Do you have guns in your home?"
When did they do that? ....Four years ago.
They've been planning this all along!

@96 - The GOP is already caving on gun control (McCain and mag capacity) in exchange for a better table at Martha's Vineyard.

Crazy-arse idea for the Party of Stupid. Use those funds to build/support a conservative enclave withing DC. It's full of elegant mansions, 24/7 cocktail parties, court pages/bards, buffets with General Tso's chicken, the whole 9 yards.
Then, the GOP folks get to be part of the in-crowd but can still(?) vote the way they campaigned.
Think of it as a theme park for conservative politicians.
o.O
