You Know What's Not Looking Too Good Right Now?
— JohnE.

That "end of November" deadline on an operational healthcare.gov site the Administration is so confident in.

Maybe they're all too busy enrolling people with all this massive demand or something. Or they're so far ahead of schedule, they don't need to update anyone.

11 The funny thing is, by delaying this for two months, it will increase demand on day 1 (supposedly December 1st) tremendously.  How the hell will they be able to handle a million account signups on day 1?  Answer: They won't.

They knew years out that there were going to be serious problems and they just sat their and hoped for the best.  I wouldn't have believed for a moment that an administration would let it's singular achievement go off this way, but here I am, watching the entire charlie foxtrot unfold and wondering what new incompetency is going to be revealed tomorrow.  Or even later today.

Are we sure they're even TRYING to fix the backend issues?   Or are they just trying to tweak the cosmetic, functionality    "glitches"   of the website?   Because you can make it look as pretty and run as smoothly as you like   on the face of it,    but it doesn't mean shit if the    data that gets    input through the site ends up   tossed around like the dice in a game of      Yahtzee   once it reaches the backend, where all the "magic" is supposed to happen.

51 The line between being a child and being an adult used to mean something. It meant that you learned, as a child, to become responsible, self-directing, self-reliant--in short, a stand-up sort of person.

Now it is just a matter of aging, so that the inner toddler is never vanquished in favor of the things that make one a respectable citizen. This is the direct result of the lack of adult behavior and achievement.

Who has taken responsibility to make sure this program works? Nobody. It will never be anybody's fault, so why bother doing the hard work to make it happen? Sure, there are consequences, but so long as they happen to "other people," who cares?

This is how civilization  ends--not with a bomb, but with a whimper from a bunch of childish "adults" who can't find their way out of a wet paper bag. And not one of them has the sense to realize they should be ashamed.

I do process automation, and it's not uncommon for some of our larger applications to reach 100,000 rungs (think "lines") of code.  When we come into a situation where something that large is fucked up, it might take 3-4 months to unravel it and fix what's wrong.
