And I don't care who you are, you'll have at least the seed of a tear in the corner of your eye.
(In a good way.)

I suppose that's a metaphor for or analogy to whatever you'd like.

Loves to talk about how much they spent on their pets.
Our two kittehs were abandoned babies (and one was horribly abused as a 4 week-old). They are 11 and 12 years old and purrfect. Son picked out the 11 year-old, and she grieved when he left for boot camp.
They're going to be over the moon when he's home for good.

Years ago my mother told me about a litter of puppies her dog had when my mother was a young girl (40's). They couldn't walk either. My mother and her siblings taped popsicle sticks to their legs to help them. Took time, but worked.

maybe. but i met one such a swedish woman. who went on and on about "how it was done in sweden"and she actually CASTIGATED me for doing my rescue work with the horses, because she thought they should have been "mercifully shot, to make room, because there are so meany healthy ones who need homes."
she said the vet who worked with me should have been brought up on charges of animal cruelty too! for. helping. helpless. starved. sick. horses. recover. from. abuse.
words fail.
But at least she was equal opportunity regarding killing the weak and helpless. She made clear she thought the same of the neighbor's handicapped daughter out playing with her dogs.

Got on the boat a year ago and one was riding with us to the beach. I was all, "Awwww...cute baby!"
We got back to the marina after leaving the beach and husband said, "Look who sat on the 'cute baby.'"
It had crawled under my seat cushion and I squashed it. I still hate my husband for letting me know.

One day she came downstairs and didn't go back to his room again. It was like there was no life in her.
The day we brought him home, he walked in the door (literally looking like a different person) and called his "babies" and they were both afraid of him at first. Then the younger one he adopted ran up to him and he scooped her in his arms. She purred and rubbed herself all over his face and slept with him every night while he was home.
Every time he came home since that first visit, they seemed to know he'd leave and return.
They love to spend time with him in his room, listen to him play guitar, and sniff among his things.

I was in church this Sunday, about 2/3rds through the service, when an obviously homeless guy wanders in and starts rambling through the aisles, looking for a seat. He found one, and the service didn't miss a beat.
Afterwards, during coffee hour, I started talking with him. He was definitely a bit screwy, but really he was just looking for a ride from some solicitous Christian sort to a mall about 10 miles away. He knew exactly what he was doing and was playing the system.
I had a thing so I couldn't do it. I was glad I had the thing because I didn't want to do it, because I don't like being played. I probably wouldn't have done it regardless, because I don't like being played.
My point: I dunno, people suck?

Easter Sunday of Doom: Parakeet is covered in its cage, and spinning its toy ferris wheel, hanging upside down (I could hear it) then....thunk. Silence. Poor bird caught her head in the ferris wheel and broke her neck. I was nine. Worst Easter Ever.

In college I knew a devoutly liberal chick (I mean REALLY liberal) who took every opportunity to promote the usual politically correct causes, most often "reproductive rights."
Her dog got outta the yard and got knocked up, and she was bummed by this b/c she lived in a tiny apartment. So someone suggested she take it to the vet for a doggie abortion, which I understand vets are capable of doing.
She was absolutely aghast at the mere thought of aborting dogs.
Just a homely anecdote with no real point, other than to say in conversation to a known abortion fan that your dog got pregnant and you're taking her in to get an abortion. Note their reaction and decide if you really want anything to do with that person ever again.

In the Senate, Ted serves on the Committee on Commerce, Science, and Transportation; the Committee on Armed Services; the Committee on the Judiciary; the Special Committee on Aging; and the Committee on Rules and Administration.
Before being elected, Ted received national acclaim as the Solicitor General of Texas, the StateÂ’s chief lawyer before the U.S. Supreme Court. Serving under Attorney General Greg Abbott, Ted was the nationÂ’s youngest Solicitor General, the longest serving Solicitor General in Texas, and the first Hispanic Solicitor General of Texas.
In private practice in Houston, Ted spent five years as a partner at one of the nationÂ’s largest law firms, where he led the firmÂ’s U.S. Supreme Court and national Appellate Litigation practice.
Ted has authored more than 80 U.S. Supreme Court briefs and argued 43 oral arguments, including nine before the U.S. Supreme Court. During TedÂ’s service as Solicitor General, Texas achieved an unprecedented series of landmark national victories, including successfully defending:

Texas;the Second Amendment right to keep and bear arms;the constitutionality of the Texas Ten Commandments monument;the constitutionality of the words “under God” in the Pledge of Allegiance;the constitutionality of the Texas Sexually Violent Predator Civil Commitment law; andthe Texas congressional redistricting plan. The National Law Journal has called Ted “a key voice” to whom “the [U.S. Supreme Court] Justices listen.” Ted has been named by American Lawyer magazine as one of the 50 Best Litigators under 45 in America, by the National Law Journal as one of the 50 Most Influential Minority Lawyers in America, and by Texas Lawyer as one of the 25 Greatest Texas Lawyers of the Past Quarter Century.
From 2004-09, he taught U.S. Supreme Court Litigation as an Adjunct Professor of Law at the University of Texas School of Law.
Prior to becoming Solicitor General, he served as the Director of the Office of Policy Planning at the Federal Trade Commission, as Associate Deputy Attorney General at the U.S. Department of Justice, and as Domestic Policy Advisor on the 2000 Bush-Cheney campaign.
Ted graduated with honors from Princeton University and with high honors from Harvard Law School. He served as a law clerk to Chief Justice William Rehnquist on the U.S. Supreme Court. He was the first Hispanic ever to clerk for the Chief Justice of the United States.
