Your Saturday Ace-a-thon '13 Open Thread -- [krakatoa]
— Open Blogger

They told me that if I donated until I bled to the Romney campaign, I'd ultimately end up just pasting a frozen smile on my face and shilling for a shiftless and abusive guy with a particular thirst for the blood of the homeless.

Well, here we are. Good news is, unlike other contributors who I won't name, I don't post pics of turkeys with testicles on their necks.

I meant Andy. I mean, wtf is wrong with that turkey? Did it get in a fight with a midget turkey? Did it try to stick a hard landing on a slick branch? Is it a feminist turkey sporting one of its trophies?

meh -- at least you won't catch me wasting your time with tasteless content like that.

Here we are at Ace-a-thon 2013, and like all good fundraisers, you get to see D-list celebs (or in this case, COBs) shilling for an organization that is big on promises (Smart Military Blog, Lesbian pr0n, & the Guys Get Shirts), and short on delivery (double posts, movie reviews that take longer to read than to watch the actual movie, and, kitteh pics).

But he tries. Lord knows Ace tries.

Getting up at the break of noon (or 1, or 2) requires a fortitude and dedication to the moron hordes that most cannot fathom, let alone even begin to contemplate before the 2nd cup of coffee @ 9 a.m.

It is this attention to detail and the needs of its clientele that made AceCorp number one with a hobo-gig at the CPAC awards.

Unlike other fundraisers, we promise no ringing phones, no useless "gifts" for donations, and most importantly, no Jerry Lewis stumbling through tired old jokes.

And you just can't put a price on that.

So please, if you value the blog and can afford to part w/ a buck or two, before you hit the jump hit the tip jar up there in the top left corner. Like a viking, if you must.

Don't pretend you didn't see this coming.

7 Wow. EPA illegally collects personal farm data, then releases it to environmental extremist groups Extremist environmental activist groups filed a FOIA request with the EPA and received private information, including home addresses, phone numbers and e-mails on farmers all over the country. The concern is these activist groups will use this data to threaten or bully farmers: ... Rep. Rick Crawford (R-AR) confirms the same and sent the EPA a letter (PDF) signed by 40 congressmen:... ... How did the EPA get this private data? In short they created a rule based on the Clean Water Act that allowed them to collect this data by forcing large livestock and poultry operations to get Clean Water Act permits simply because they ‘might’ discharge into waterways. But they were forced to drop the rule after being slapped down by a federal appeals court for overstepping their authority. But the EPA still gathered the data anyway, getting it from state water agencies without fully disclosing to those agencies why they were collecting it: And, they want to take our guns away. h/t rightscoop

Maybe someone could help Ace out on some of the technical things.

This morning I went to the Ace of Spades Amazon store to buy some dishwashing detergent.  Cascades with phosphates (which they say is for commercial and industrial use only) works like a mother fucker and is reasonably cheap at about $55 a case.

Do you think I could find it going through Ace's link?  No way.

Apparently, he has the majority of the categories turned off in the search function, so it won't come up.  I'm sure he didn't do this on purpose and he probably doesn't even know there are other categories, so someone familiar with this shit needs to fix this for him.

I found the product code elsewhere and plugged it in to his Amazon portal, got the product to come up and purchased it, so Ace should get his piece of the transaction, but the point is he could get a steady stream of a lot more if it wasn't such a pain in the ass to use it.

The freedom of the press in the U.K. has died by an overwhelming vote by the House of Commons, with only 12 dissenting Conservative party members daring to vote no. It is proof that without a check on its power, and without a firm belief in liberty that transcends the state, democracy will destroy freedom. That's ace's custom store which is more like a "product recommendations" page.

He needs to change that link title to make it more obvious what that is.

The actual "AoS money making too" is the link above that.

176 160 Okay, I got the respond script working in Chrome. When you search for "greasemonkey" in the Chrome extension store, you get "tampermonkey" which is basically the same thing.

You HAVE to install tampermonkey first, then go to the "respond to posts on AoSHQ" link, then install that IN tampermonkey and not natively in chrome, or else it will not work.

For example, see this awesome shotglass prototype with the new logo John E. was working on: http://goo.gl/z54ZF We were working on a site and trying to get Ace to move. His main concern was that he was worried about getting taken down by people objecting to the content. It's a reasonable concern, but it's one that we've mitigated in the move plan by mirroring the site at a second hosting firm in real time. Response from Ace: crickets At this point, we've basically given up. But Seriously You Guys, Pixy's going to have a new site up in Two Weeks. Just you wait.

250 Hypothesis: If the Democrats had the power to do more than they are doing now, they would do so; thus the fact that they cannot do more than they are doing now means they are maximized on their power potential--that they have mobilized all the resources they are likely to be able to tap into (academia, media, ethnic votes, unions, etc.), and thus are, relatively speaking, at the strongest position they are likely to be at this generation. This means that, especially when one considers affairs in Europe, which cast more negative light on the desires of the left than right, and if one thinks new paths might open up for the right that will result in greater opportunities in the future, then one should not hesitate to oppose the left, because if they cannot crush you know, they never will be able to. The level of screaming they do will certainly escalate, especially as it is one of the ways they try to get what they want, but their actual realized power might be capped out. With full control of media and academia they got 52%. Not 60%. Not 70%. They are not as strong as they seem.

All it would take is a bit of social pushing.  You know how easily Ace folds under the least bit of elitist peer pressure.

Ace lives for a adulation, so if all the regulars started referring to him as "You rich, ungrateful piece of shit", he'll probably prioritize the move and changes higher.

282 WattsUpWithThat.com has a guest post from CEI who have been suing the Feds for documents regarding the carbon /green nazi shit they're planning.

This excerpt was from a public document but it's still pretty revealing:

"“Actively manage the political economy of reform. Managing the political economy of reform also entails measures that target those segments of the population that would otherwise oppose reforms. For example, in 2010 the Islamic Republic of Iran increased domestic energy prices by up to 20 times, reducing fossil fuel subsidies by some $50 billion–$60 billion. It offset them with $30 billion in cash transfers that benefited 80 percent of its population, thereby addressing the fact that opposition to the reform of such subsidies usually comes from the middle class. The combination of cash transfers with a well-orchestrated public relations campaign was critical to the success of the reform (Guillaume and others 2011)."

291 What I say above is important, because it is important to make academia and the media continue to sacrifice integrity to protect Obama and Progressivism. This is because enough of those of a liberal bent still believe in something more than power politics, are still idealistic enough, so as to make long term lack of integrity on the left, by the MSM especially, unsustainable. All one has to do is offer them an acceptable alternative path. And the MSM has abandoned integrity to such an extent that the collapse could, when it happens, be worse for the Left than realized. The true believers of the soft Liberal sort may not become conservatives or torchbearers for Liberty (though they might). What they won't do is pray at the Temple of Progressivism solely because groupthink demands it and things are clearly being manipulated in Orwellian fashion. So one has to stand one's ground enough so as to "heighten the contradictions".

409 After last night, I need more ammo. Sorry Ace.

From the ONT:
'I am okay. But quarter to midnight I do not expect anyone to ring doorbell.

When I say I live in the country, I live in the country. Street light goes out at night, inky darkness as the stars shine brightly down. And there is silence save in winter the hoot of owls and spring the howl of dogs with the mooing of cows.

So I quickly and quietly put sneakers on. Pick up the 9mm carbine, chamber a round, and turn on the Aim-point sight. Only then did I unlock the other door and stand on the steps. To see a black youth suddenly stop and start walking towards me. Says he ran out of gas just up the street and did I have any to spare?

Turn on porch light. He gets to see I am holding the carbine against body with barrel down. He gets more polite then. Tell him I don't have any gas to spare. He then walks away while I duck back into house and bolt the door.

So next I text my friend with description of encounter. Friend works for Sheriff's department. He thinks I wont have any more problems and the guy probably had to change his underwear seeing the CX-4 Storm in my hands.

And that is why I am drinking a rum and coke. Hoi hoi embleer Frith!'

415 Latest bleatings from Jessie Shakedown Jackson regarding the Governor of Michigan's decision to have an emergency manager take over the affairs of Detroit.  He has threatened a lawsuit and "non-violent" protests.

“As opposed to having a city council that’s democratically elected and a mayor, you’ll have a plantocracy, a plantation-ocracy, replacing a democracy,” Jackson said.

A plantation-ocracy.  And the laughs from this guy keeps happening.  Somehow this threatens Jackson's cash flow.

436 @418 Good stuff. "Be Prepared" I got a story sort of like that. 10 years ago I am in Daytona at 500. Wife calls frantic, where is my pistol. Why I ask. There is a Black guy banging on the back door trying to break in. I got two small kids in the house. She had called 911. Told her to go upstairs and where my pistol was and to shoot the fucker if he got in and started up the stairs. You can not call your local police department from out of town anymore. I tried. So I called her dad and told him to get his ass over to my house. He got over there ASAP. Cops showed up 20 minutes later. Turns out the guy was a drug addict that was being "counseled" at the Liberal Church three houses from our home and he showed up drunk so they just sent him on his way into the neighborhood. He tried to break into three homes. I don't live in the slums and at the time I was an elected official. Cops didn't seem to give a shit. Now my wife keeps a gun under her bed, LOADED.

443 Cheri, go back further in time.  I think it started after MLK was killed in 68.

What I do know he has always craved the spotlight and power.  When Reagan was trying to do something about Lebanon.  A Navy aircrew were shot down.  Jesse went there to try and get them freed.

Jesse Jackson - vanity all is vanity.  The sins of the father will be visited upon seven generations, that Biblical phrase always pops to mind when I think of the Kennedys and now Jackson and his progeny.

460 The next election should be a theme election. If government is too big to comprehend, let's focus on just the EPA and talk only about it. Even dumbass Democrats should get into it. The Republicans can tell horror stories about the EPA, the Democrats can sprinkle unicorn dust and, when its all over, we can have an election. Let the people decide if they like the EPA or not. After that, we can move on to the fucking DHS and the VA, BLA, BIA, etc etc. Elections with themes! Like cocktail parties.

Ok I'm finally hitting the jar - I've lurked here for years and rarely comment, but the entertainment is certainly worth it ...

Why?  Because the comments here require it .. I am mystified by those that refuse to tip unless the comment platform is upgraded, but complain endlessly through that same comment platform.  Guess you are all free to go somewhere else if it is so bad, but, it doesn't seem to stop you at all ...

I have seen Ace's posts when he gets his fur ruffled over the apparent sense of ownership and entitlement that COBs and commenters get over his blog - left me wondering previously, but now I see it here on full display.  Y'all are free to do whatever you want, right?  But not with his property ... methinks you're actually looking for a slice.

BTW, robocopy is free and it works for synching drives, but the CLI syntax is simply brutal ...
