ABCNews is determined to not ask about "Obamacare" -- I guess because people say they don't support the law when you call it "Obamacare" -- and so asks the question this way...
"Overall, do you support or oppose the federal law making changes to the health care system?"
What federal law making changes to the health care system? The various House efforts to repeal it, or end the individual mandate, or codify the "If you like your plan you can keep your plan" promise into law, or Obama's various extraconstitutional delays of mandates and enforcement efforts to ameliorate the pain, or...?
I'm not sure what people are thinking of when they're asked about "changes to the health care system." There's a new "change to the health care system" every week.
AllahPundit notes that ABCNews has asked the question this way before, and has found, previously, that people oppose Obamacare even when the question is worded so vaguely. So there is some movement in this poll, despite the shaky question.
But I don't know. Given all the "changes to the health care system" going on every week, I don't know if this question means what it previously might have been taken to mean.

If "making changes" includes repealing the whole darn thing—and according to the vague wording it possibly could—then yes, by all means! But that is so not what they meant.

So they're back to saying..."Change is Good" again?
What about Climate Change?
So, Climate Change is good?
That's the thing about using the word "change" without identifying exactly what the 'change' is that you're referring to.

See also the last goverment shutdown. Just such a poll came out and was held up as proof that "America overwhelmingly believes the shutdown is bad for the country, and it's all the fault of mean, greedy Republicans".
Whereas what the poll turned out to have been was proof of what the Democratic bloc in America believed about the shutdown. The sampling bias was insane. 83% liberal respondents? Something like that. In other words, not a reliable guide to what the country as a whole was thinking.
But, what the poll did do was to accomplish its intended agitprop purpose. The entire corps of Beltway Republicans immediately wet themselves in fear and ran as fast as they could to end the shutdown.

Let's shorten that and see what we get:
"Overall, do you support or oppose federal law?"
Dollars to donuts you'd get a majority, probably significant too, that say, "Yes, I support Federal law." A very select few aim to be "lawless," so the nature of default responses is, "Sure. Yay law. 'Cause rules are generally good if it keeps everyone equal."
So this is easily boiled down to push polling even discounting confusion about which law applied how to the nebulous "health care law."

Even Wapo-Disney doesn't believe their own poll. Qoutin':
Public polls have found varying support for the health law this year, and differed on how much it has recovered from a drop-off after the troubled launch of federal and state exchanges. Both Associated Press-GfK and CBS News surveys found no recent rise in support, while the Kaiser Family Foundation's monthly tracking poll has found a three-point uptick over the same period. In all those surveys, conducted prior to the Post-ABC survey, opposition continues to significantly outpace support.

I think when the initial drink was offered I was sharing about how she had decided not to scam the NYC unemployment system, though pretty much everyone in NYC in theatre does. Lots of theatres go dark in the summer for a month or so, but the workers still have their contracts and keep their union benefits, still technically employed by the theatre. But the workers all file for unemployment anyway. My sis decided to live off her savings during that time, in good conscience could not bilk the system. I was sharing my sisterly pride, most would take the easy money and run. But my sis is not most.
The person offering the drink was going to help work on her; she is libertarian, hardcore fiscal and constitutional con but a social lib. They were going to make her a hard core conservative by the end of the night or something, hah. Would love to see them try! Popcorn would be needed.

All of this begs the question: is it possible to defeat the Democratic Party's narrative if most major media outlets of all types are actively supporting and promoting that narrative?
Take Wendy Davis and the abortion issue, for example, where that opportunistic witch in her little red designer shoes was portrayed as a hero for women's rights by the MSM while simultaneously obscuring the content of the legislation she was filibustering against; i.e., legislation drafted in response to the Gosnell case in Pennsylvania that would've made abortion clinics in Texas subject to more stringent safety and hygiene standards. (Of course, it should be pointed out that most major MSM outlets never bothered to cover the Gosnell story in the first place.)
MSM bias is real. Propaganda does work. So how does one reach the public if avenues for expresssion are (largely) blocked?
That's the central problem. If we solve that, we can beat these people every time, everywhere.

They are creating a new 'language'....a language that kids in public schools are being forced to learn.
This new 'language' will be used in the college entrance exams, like SATs, right?
So...homeschooled kids will have to learn this new bullshit language in order to get into college.

Our politicians must be related. We're admonished to conserve water; so the populace complies to share the pain. The politicians notice, "Hey, water use is down. That means the taxes from them are too. This shall not stand!" And they promptly vote to increase the fees/water volume to make up for the decrease in use. Punish the ratepayer for following their advice and being a "good" citizen.
Oh, and recycling costs extra. Yes, that's right. We have to pay extra for the priviledge of separating our trash for what is supposed to be an economically cost-saving enterprise.

Only the people who lose their insurance, or lose their job, or see huge increases in cost are going to be affected, and they won't like it.
The rest, mostly democrats will 'like' Obama's scheme because they believe it will help those poor people who don't have insurance.

That shit Ezekiel Emmanuel has gone on the record as saying he expects the percentage of people whose health coverage is employer-paid to plummet over time as the Obamacare noose tightens, as the paperwork and costs skyrocket.
And he admits (practically with a giggle) that this was by deliberate design, to force more and more people into a situation where they're forced to buy costly health policies on their own, which they can't afford without subsidy, to hook them on the subsidies and entrench Obamacare permanently.

Well, you're talking after the 16th Amendment was ratified. You are correct. But there were other federal taxes before that, including the Corporate income "excise tax" of 1909. In the which the top rate was 1% of monies in excess of $5000.
