Actress Maria Conchito Alonzo Fired from Play For Political Endorsement of Tea Party Candidate
— Ace

Meet the New Blacklist, pretty much the same as the old blacklist, except the people now being blacklisted are loyal to a different Foreign Alien Power.

In this case, the people now being blacklisted are loyal to What Was Once America, rather than the Soviet Union (What Was Once Russia).

47 I remember watching a documentary on PBS (of all things), before 9-11, about the McCarthy blacklists. All these writers and producers and such were admitting that Old Joe was right! They just didn't want America to know it. Might have financial implications, y'know. Worse, people may have looked at their previous work in a new light, and seen it as propaganda. The worm really hasn 't turned, however. They are just purging the remnants of non-socialists from their ranks now. They were in charge of Hollywood quietly then, not so quiet now.

48 Anyone who voluntarily has anything to do with _The Vagina Monologues_ or its loopy creator Eve Ensler deserves just what they get.

I was riding in the car and scanned past the local NPR affiliate, which had an interview with Ensler, and they got on to the topic of gang rape in Africa. Which is a very real and very horrible thing, and extremely widespread, to a degree that would startle most people in Western countries. There are places in Africa where an average woman is far more likely than not to have been subjected to gang rape, it is that common an occurrence.

Ah, said Ensler. She had, she said, used her incisive intellect and feminist analysis to figure out the root of the problem, which if extirpated would solve everything.

Gang rape in Africa is, Ensler explained, because of THE PATRIARCHY.

Yes, men everywhere who have nothing to do with Africa are proximally responsible for what certain African men delight in doing, even if those non-African men elsewhere profess to be appalled by the practice. Simply being male implicates one with guilt for all male misbehavior globally. Because patriarchy. And Y chromosomes.

She's a complete, utter feminazi nut case. Stay well out of reach. Don't make any sudden movements or loud noises. Call for help as soon as possible.

50 Everybody knows, but we never bring it up anymore, that the original blacklist was made up by communists in the unions of H'wd, and enforced against conservatives. That "You'll never work in this town again" was said by a union boss, I think to Adolphe Menjou. When MP3's better, he'll open a volume of whoopass on this.

You'd have to run some dates to prove it, but what are the chances that Governator took up with the hispanic household member because he was already fapping to the memory of Maria Conchita?  Better, perhaps, that a vagina like that not have to engage in a mere monologue.

84 Actor Dwight Schulz (A-Team, Star Trek:TNG) is a conservative. He used to write at Breitbart, and has a few stories about the culture out there toward conservatives. The article is lost in BBs reorganization a few years ago, but here's some excerpts at Redstate: http://preview.tinyurl.com/kp23qr5 In very late 1981 or early 1982, I was called in to read for the part of Fiscus in the upcoming series “St. Elsewhere” produced by Paltrow. I ran into Howie Mandel, with his familiar blown up rubber glove hanging from his belt, and the guy who would eventually land the role. He was standing just outside the waiting room, and as I headed toward that designated area I passed a small narrow side room in which Bruce Paltrow was seated on a desk chair with wheels; he turned to me, rolled a little in my direction and said, “Dwight! What are you doing here?” This is not a question an actor wants to hear before an audition; not from the show’s producer. I told him I was called in to read for Fiscus and his response was soft and monotonic, “…There’s not going to be a Reagan asshole on this show!”

86 Meh.  I don't agree with it, but if her being in the play- a Spanish production of The Vagina Monologues- would've resulted in people boycotting it, the producers have a semi-legitimate excuse.  The political ad she appeared in was anti-illegal immigration.

I don't like seeing this bullshit validated, but I can understand why felt she put their success (and pocketbooks) in jeopardy.

91 And of course elsewhere in Hollyweird news, we have Harvey Weinstein, producer of such ultraviolent dreck as _Kill Bill_, saying that he's horrified by the thought of any ordinary citizens having guns, and intends to pour money into anti-gun films to help push that political narrative.

He is by no means alone in this. That is absolutely mainstream Hollyweird thinking. That industry trousers huge profits from films and TV that depict garish, pornographic levels of gun violence, and then they turn around and lavishly fund political efforts to disarm ordinary peaceful law-abiding citizens.

Time to stuff that contradiction right down their necks.

The courts have repeatedly upheld the viability of age-keyed ratings schemes for entertainment. Grab that and use it as a blunt force instrument to beat Hollyweird over the head.

New ratings category for films, TV and games: GV-18 for Gun Violence.

Under 18? Sorry, go watch something else, kid.

This would be a brutal gut shot to Hollyweird's profitability. Teens gobble up their splashy violent crap and will gobble a lot less of it under such a regime.

I am intrinsically anticensorship, but let's note that it was the liberals who have opened wide the door to censorship on ideological grounds. And it's a liberal Alinskyite tactic to take the enemy's methods and use them against that enemy. Give them a taste of their own medicine. Such a big taste that they vomit uncontrollably from the stuff.

And, it's extremely difficult for people who have been claiming All Guns Are Always Evil to suddenly reverse course and claim Serious You Guys Guns In Our Trashy Movies Are A Harmless Protected Subset. It opens them up to ridicule. Which is, hey presto, another Alinsky method.

92 Yep, Blaze is building an alt-right media infrastructure. Only $9.95 a month. Operators are standing by.

93 35 Eh, I do understand where Althouse is coming from in a callous pragmatist sort of way. I mean, are any of us surprised with this behavior coming out of San Francisco? Heck, the fact she was not physically assaulted and covered in bodily waste products is a small miracle.

The problem with Althouse is that is that if the situation were reversed and a lefty actress got fired in a conservative town then she'd be all outraged that people aren't allowed the freedom to express themselves politically. The fact that SF is such nutty hothouse of radical leftism does not make firing MCA okay - even if it's sadly predictable.

95 Actor Dwight Schulz (A-Team, Star Trek:TNG) is a conservative. He used to write at Breitbart, and has a few stories about the culture out there toward conservatives.

Dirk "Face" Benedict is also a conservative and wrote at BB as well.

Who else?

Gary Graham (Robot Jox, hehe), also wrote there a few times too.  He doesn't hold back when it comes to describing the left.

96 New ratings category for films, TV and games: GV-18 for Gun Violence. Under 18? Sorry, go watch something else, kid. This would be a brutal gut shot to Hollyweird's profitability. Teens gobble up their splashy violent crap and will gobble a lot less of it under such a regime. Some theaters will card you at rated-R movies. Kids get in with their parents. Have you ever gone to a bloody movie, looked around, and seen a bunch of kids under ten? I have.

101 I see what you're getting at, but the Blaze is also preaching to the choir, in that you have to go there to get content. I mean a production company with wide-release capability, or a network with commercial viability. It doesn 't have to out and out conservative, just not the usual leftist or socially-impairing crap we have now

The problem with McCarthy is that he didn't have jack, when he said he did.

That he was right, that  there WERE commies  all over the government doesn't change the fact that he was a self-serving hack, who  caused more harm than good in the fight against communist infiltration.

Yes, they were there.  No, McCarthy didn't do anything to help get rid of them.

Posted by: BurtTC at January 20, 2014 02:00 PM (BeSEI)

103 Still some other actors in Hollywood that are conservative, mostly they are pretty quiet about it.It's not really in the character of conservatives to inject it into everything the way left wingers do.

Posted by: steevy at January 20, 2014 02:01 PM (zqvg6)

104 How would the left have reacted if she had been fired because of her political beliefs?

Angrily.  But if in my example the producers of Lone Survivor fired Jane Fonda out of fear that she would harm their box office receipts, would we blame them?  Come to Jane's defense?

Didn't we just through this shit with Robertson?

Sort of.  The differences are that he wasn't really fired (he was suspended when they weren't in production) and firing him likely would've lost them money, where keeping him on would make them money.

Benedict retired, I think.

Graham still works, though nothing really on the A-list stuff.

Althouse: enthusiastic 2008 Obama supporter.

Because racial comity. And because trouser creases.

And because Sarah Palin. That horrible illiterate chillbilly bitch. Did you know that awful Palin woman actually... hunts animals? With a GUN? And SHOOTS the animals? And then (looking around for nearest fainting couch) _feeds the meat to her family_?  And openly admits this? Is proud of it? Disgusting! Barbaric!

112 The funny thing about the blacklist period in Hollywood, most of those blacklisted just worked using a different name. What they are pissed about is that they had to take a paycut as well. Once again, Commies complaining about not being rich.

114 No, Joe, I'm talking about a company that had those intentions. Your're right, of course. If such a company already existed, they wouldn't need me. Or you. Or anybody else. I thought Mel Gibson might go rogue when he self-produced and distributed "The Passion of the Christ". Instead he went nuts. Oh well.

115 110 -

I have a youtube vid of  the author, Stanton Evans, with Howard Phillips.  They're talking about it now.

While it runs, I will say, either they have knowledge of what McCarthy had  knowledge of at the time, and McCarthy was basing his claims on KNOWN data he had at the time, or my original point stands:

McCarthy was right about the commie infiltration, but he didn't have the evidence he claimed he had.

Posted by: BurtTC at January 20, 2014 02:12 PM (BeSEI)

116 But Re Mel Gibson; he made a shit-ton (heavier than a regular ton, from what I hear) of money from that movie. There's an untapped market for such stuff. And it's out there, whether Adam Carolla's podcasts, or such, it's just not easily accessible.

A (black) panhandler with a smart phone (too stupid to put the one away before begging) came up to me today on Michigan Avenue in front of the Art Institute asking for change and I told him go find some hope first and then I'll give you change. (I wish my daughter and son in law could find jobs elsewhere and leave Mordor on the Lake). Put my name on the list of the politically incorrect. Fuck 'em and the candidate they road in on.

Agreed, but I just finished watching the author of "Blacklisted by History," doing a 20 something minute  interview, and  I'm  not clear on what McCarthy knew at the time,  and what he didn't.

I guess I'll need to read the book, but if McCarthy was aware of, but  didn't have the evidence, then he didn't necessarily do any good by exposing it before he had said evidence.

Oh well.  Another book on my list, which means I'll get to it when I get to it.

126 Remember that the original blacklist, just like this one, originated with Hollywood.  It began when the publisher of The Hollywood Reporter denounced a list of screenwriters who were communists, and was enforced solely by the various studios.

While the House Un-American Activities Committee held hearings, the only action they took was to prefer contempt charges again ten Hollywooders who refused to testify.  (It is widely supposed they refused not because their political affiliations were criminal, but because they had previously lied under oath about them in California and feared perjury charges).

And Joe McCarthy had nothing at all to do with the Hollywood blacklist.
