283 Kraft is a lib as well. Just sayin'. A check of Kraft's campaign donations through the Center for Responsive Politics website finds the team owner has contributed thousands of dollars over the years to politicians, mostly to Democrats but also to GOP Sen. Mark Kirk, R-Ill, the Republican National Committee, and even independent Sen. Joe Lieberman of Connecticut. In the 2008 presidential campaign, Kraft donated to three candidates: Obama and Republicans John McCain, the party's nominee, and Mitt Romney, who used to be governor of Massachusetts. Obama and McCain received $4,600 each and Romney got $2,300 from Kraft.

Everyone makes the playoffs? In the NFL? Perhaps you should be focusing those criticisms at the NHL (16 of 30 teams make the playoffs) and NBA (16 of 30 teams) instead of the NFL. Only 12 of 32 teams make the NFL playoffs. Major league baseball's playoffs are only slightly more exclusive (10 of 30 teams) than the NFL's playoffs. I'm a purist and would prefer less teams make the playoffs in each league but so that the long regular seasons mean more and reward teams that perform at a high level for a longer period of time, but the NFL's playoffs aren't too bad.

I will say that after seeing underdog teams win the last three Super Bowls -- teams that often didn't play like playoff-caliber teams for large portions of the regular season -- it makes me want to drop a few teams out of the playoffs to make the regular season more valuable. But that's simply not going to happen with the money that is at stake for the NFL and the different NFL franchises.
