29 At some point in the future we'll figure out the genetics of hair and everyone will have the hair of a 20 year old most of their life. I think we'll figure it out long before we figure out how to stop skin from aging. So we'll probably have several generations in the future of wrinkly old ladies with sex kitten hair. That and vanishingly few bald dudes or graybeards.

54 And clearly a lot of women would take some genetic engineering treatments that gave them blonde hair. The # of women who want to be blonde appears to be an order of magnitude larger than the # of women who are actually blonde. Personally I prefer brunettes, so I won't be happy the day Pfizer unveils the Blonde Pill and 6 weeks later 30% of all women are suddenly blonde. If you just look at fertility rates, it would seem that blonde hair and blue eyes will keep shrinking as a % of humanity. But I'm confident genetic engineering will bring those traits roaring back once it's figured out.

106 When I hear women bitch about "body issues" and the "pressure" they feel to have big tits or whatnot, my teeth grate. Yeah, those Bosley commercials are no pressure at all. --- I've been kind of lucky that for some bizarre reason my figure became curvier in a GOOD way as I approached menopause. I can't figure it out since I never had kids. But the part I hate about getting older is how my skin has gotten drier and my hair has become finer (which makes it kind of an annoying level of curly sometimes). But none of that is as annoying as the eyesight thing. For someone who used to make her living doing electron microscopy, this short arm disease thing blows. And it started within a month of turning 40.

147 Also, handsome dudes who go bald tend to still be handsome. And being super successful, like a famous actor, makes dudes look more handsome. So famous bald actors aren't always the best example for a regular dude. Kinda like the way super hot actresses can do crazy things to their hair and still be super hot. Works for them, but not the best example for regular chicks to emulate. I noticed Kevin Costner's went with the hairpiece instead of accepting his baldness ... and he's back starring in movies like Superman. Harrison Ford did the same thing. And Kevin Spacey. Travolta obviously. Nic Cage, etc, etc.

486 The Tuck Rule against the Raiders was (arguably) a blown call. Brady was a nobody at the time. He didn't get special treatment because of his status in the league.

Manning could not beat the Pats in the playoffs. His owner didn't like that the NE secondary was "too rough" on his poor widdle weceivers. Manning needed a wooby to get past his playoff woes and the new, crap PI rules came to be.

492 Well, I don't know about the players and all their tricks, but it took me about 3 months after moving here from sea level to actually feel normal with any type of exertion.

493 Ok now the game is tense. Stupid Denver throwing away a good lead.

494 IIRC it takes several weeks for your red cell coubt to go up, which is what you need for high altitude.

498 I'd be happy to write some car articles and send it to you for posting, as I'm sure some of the others would too. The good thing about a lot of the car stuff is that it's not time sensitive, so you could build up a little inventory.

501 Broncos may stagger out of there with a win, but it doesn't matter. They don't look worth a damn.

Posted by: Meremortal at January 12, 2014 03:49 PM (1Y+hH)

502 It is more fun to go the other way. My freshman year of college here at sea level I was unstoppable. I could run up hills in nothing flat. Hiking was great. Alas I moved here permanently and now I have to deal with going to Denver to visit family and feeling like a linebacker is sitting on my chest the first couple days.

Posted by: Paranoidgirlinseattle at January 12, 2014 03:50 PM (RZ8pf)

503 Peyton's former owner is and was an ass. Who now thinks Peyton didn't really do enough for the Colts. Just show me any proof at all that Peyton himself complained.

504 FWIW some source I found said Denver is 23-12 vs Pats when Broncos are at home. I cant link on this phone.

506 anyone watch RUSH yet? Posted by: soothsayer ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ I want to see it, but not bad enough to go to the movies. The guy playing James Hunt looks way too, uh...foppish.

Posted by: Countrysquire at January 12, 2014 03:51 PM (8FyP4)

507 Seems that Denver football players, who travel for home games throughout the year and often have out-of-town homes they live at off-season and during bye weeks, wouldn't have enough adjustment time themselves for it to be as big an advantage as people say. And again, those oxygen-processing red blood cells should give them an advantage on the road. So as often as people say a visiting team is disadvantaged going to Denver, they should also point out that Denver players are advantaged playing on the road with their super-blood.

Actually, I should modify my original. I believe it was the Colts GM (Bill Polian) who did the bitching. But Irsay has a lot of pull, and the league caved to the Colts.

As for Peyton's involvement.... Can't say for sure. But I would not doubt he favored his bosses using their influence to make his job easier.

And all of this is not to say that the changes have not benefitted all QBs. They has. Dramatically.

But, as good as he was, Peyton was snake bitten. And to help him break through, the Colts didn't make things better on the field, they decided they needed the rules changed.

540 Of course you are kind of glossing over how the players were regularly rating a certain CB of the Patriots as "dirtiest player" year after year as well.

Posted by: buzzion at January 12, 2014 04:10 PM (LI48c)

541 Seneca Wallace was one of the QBs backing up Rodgers in Green Bay.

Posted by: buzzion at January 12, 2014 04:18 PM (LI48c)

545 Oh Rodney. Threw me off cause you said CB, he was a safety.

Yeah. He had a reputation.

His first year in NE (and in the playoffs) against Manning is the year the Colts went hard after the Law/Harrison style of play.

But it was not Peyton's first year struggling against physical Pats' secondaries. They were a thorn in his side he could not remove on the field. They went to the rule books.

Posted by: Hate Miser at January 12, 2014 04:26 PM (WOx5m)

546 Pass interference my ASS. I don't even like the Bolts, but that was some major conspiracy-theory ref-idiocy right there.

Posted by: wankette at January 12, 2014 04:29 PM (+lpki)

547 And now QB's have to be treated with kid gloves by the defense because Brady got hurt one year.  They sure didn't care when the same thing happened to Palmer.

Posted by: buzzion at January 12, 2014 04:31 PM (LI48c)

548 @548

This is absolutely true. I don't like that either. But Bob Kraft isn't the reason it's a rule.

The NFL has gotten soft. I just despise these knee-jerk (pardon the pun) rules changes because some freak incident occurred, or because offenses aren't given enough advantages on the field
