— Ace See, it's harder to find the wreckage of the plane, because we done messed up the ocean's currents with our global warmenating behavior.
The claim is that global warming has already disrupted the expected currents, and... whatever. You read it.
Blame this one on @theh2.
Meanwhile, a French satellite has, maybe, found additional possible wreckage floating in the ocean. But as of yet, no human beings have gotten close enough to the various possible debris fields to confirm they're part of Flight 370.
Details on the French data were not immediately released. The statement from Malaysia called the information "new satellite images," while a statement from France's Foreign Ministry said "radar echoes taken by a satellite" had located floating debris but made no mention of imagery.

"(The full quote goes: “What’s the use of having developed a science well enough to make predictions if, in the end, all we’re willing to do is stand around and wait for them to come true?”)
It’s an incredibly fascinating and horrifying situation we’re in. We’re this amazingly advanced, scientifically sophisticated civilization, and we have information that’s telling us that what we’re doing is very bad for us — and we keep doing it."

For those less resigned, furious, and lazy than I - has there been a concise, appropriately contemptuous, take-down of this facially ridiculous idea that the "excess heat" (excess to what standard?) caused by AGW has been "hidden" in the oceans for the last 16 years?
I remain gobsmacked that the wildly implausible conjecture (that's what it is) that human-added CO2 could affect global climate (a concept itself that is dubious) is itself taken seriously. But isn't claiming that somehow heat will plunge into the thermocline (against all obvious common sense and physical laws) for some reason, suddenly, after never having happened before, jumping the shark with a hydroplane at 100mph?

The only thing they have gotten mostly right is that CO2 levels are rising and will continue to rise, though not at the rate they predicted. That's because plants like that tasty stuff and have been gobbling it up.

LCWedgie - which exact predictions made by AGW models have ever proven correct? Oh, why bother. Science has now been destroyed by the same ignorance, bigotry, self-dealing, and plain stupidity that has mostly wrecked economics, governance, and foreign policy.
And this is in context with the actual history of science, which as a human institution is fraught with human flaws. Had to read Tom Kuhn's "Structure of Scientific Revolutions" about 10 times in high school/college. It nicely demonstrated how politics and power had affected science all along. But whereas in his history such foibles were, in the end, overcome, in our day the geocentrists and humors-based medical quacks are actually driving policy, not being undone by real science.

How about where is hiding? At what level of the ocean? Where is the evidence that the temperature of the ocean at any level is warmer than previous averages?
They're just flailing about for any excuse, and since that is probably the only place they can claim of "Where did the heat go?" that most people won't question they are going with that.

Bruce, when I was an assistant at Alabama under Bear Bryant, we once had a big old fat kid playin' right tackle. That sumbitch could not get his by-God weight under 300. Coach Bryant told me "you git that weight off 'im or you start lookin' in the want ads". I slapped 40 or so leeches on the kid and he was down to 285 in no time. An infection, or seven different kinds of infection, was a small price to pay.

Or maybe like the Flying Dutchman (Wikipedia):
The Flying Dutchman is a legendary ghost ship that can never make port and is doomed to sail the oceans forever. The myth is likely to have originated from 17th-century nautical folklore. The oldest extant version dates to the late 18th century. Sightings in the 19th and 20th centuries reported the ship to be glowing with ghostly light. If hailed by another ship, the crew of the Flying Dutchman will try to send messages to land, or to people long dead. In ocean lore, the sight of this phantom ship is a portent of doom.
That would solve the whole fuel problem. If it is now a ghost airplane, flying the friendly skies forever, it wouldn't need anymore fuel.
