I'd modify that to:
Objects that have an internal heat source and objects that don't.
Your car engine is not affected by wind chill when not running.
Your pipes may be affected by wind chill as they have an internal heat source; the main and/or heat tapes or even circulating heat.
people of course are affected.
They should maybe name it temperature depreciation or degradation.

The more frustrated and incensed they get with him, the more it proves his point. Unless you make an effort to understand what's going on, whether in politics, or in Nick Searcy's Twitter feed, you're making yourself obtuse and therefore are part of the problem.
People need to look past the end of their own brainpan. You may not like the schtick, but at least have enough awareness to recognize it for what it is. If you can't even do that, you'll suck at the culture war.

Well, that actually might work except for the little problem of the lower gravity letting any atmosphere escape.
Of course if you could bombard Mars with comets for about 50-100 years, you might build up and atmosphere of sorts.
It might not last too long though and living there during that time would be . . . problematic.

Paris has its own autonomous police force, responsible to the Interior Ministry, so they ain't Gendarmes. The French system is like other Euro criminal justice systems--very different from ours and the Brits: There is an 'examining magistrate' who is like a D.A. but directly involved in all levels of police work. No separation of 'law and order'

Gubmint motors. Gone are the days where the average guy can buy himself a Z28. They've over-engineered it right out of the market.
And sure, it's a fast ride. But what the fuck is the point of building race cars at that price point?
Leave that to the Corvette concept models, and keep some of this shit accessible by the average dude.
But these assholes can't create a decent car unless it has shit tons of expensive parts not actually engineered by them, so it makes sense that all of their efforts go into outdoing Italy rather than making a car that doesn't have brake rotor problems every 10k miles.

It's that way in Germany. People from northern Germany can't understand people from Bavaria, and vica versa. Same thing goes with certain regions. I live in the Rhineland Palatinate and towns around there speak Paelzser. No one understands them. I got to where I could understand a little, but it is like learning a whole different language.

Gubmint motors. Gone are the days where the average guy can buy himself a Z28. They've over-engineered it right out of the market.
To be fair, the Z28 in question is being sold more as a track car as opposed to a daily driver.
Still overpriced though- I have to think that you could build a better street/track car for a lot less money by upgrading a stock Camaro.
But, the collector set will still buy it.

The problem with businesses moving out of Cali is that people move out with them and pollute their new homes with their f'd up politics. As a Texan living in exile in Colorado, I can speak to this first hand. CO used to be solid red, not long ago either. Texas unfortunately, may find that out.

In Günter Grass' memoir he quotes his Kaschuban relatives Plattdeutsch in dialect. The only way I can make heads or tails of it is to read it out loud and back into real language from the sounds.

I don't have personal experience but a few aquaintances have said good things about it. Two things I do remember is it is lighter and the grip is not as wide as other 1911s . I also remember though that they indicated the recoil was a little more noticeable because of that. I think they were comparing it specifically to the springfield. Maybe the browning. Can't remember.
I'm one of those plastic gun afficianados so don't go by me.

Nothing against Sig or HK (proud owner of both), but I can get those anywhere, anytime. I would like to get him a nice gift that is unique and special and not off the shelf. Like a handmade birthday or Christmas card, which I always ask the kids to do for me.
Plus, the Marines have recently made it official with the 1911's again. MARSOC has them. I could find a Colt version, but if I'm going to spend at least that much, then why not go balls-out and get something one of a kind?

Anything over 500 bucks for a 1911 is way too f'n much IMO. Maybe as much as 600 for a nice one.

I intend to get a full size version, and not a commander or carry size. I think the extra weight helps with the recoil.

What happens is the Program Manager has a a critical list of requirements, and then a bunch of other shit tacked on. As he starts to run out of money/time he starts titrating resources for the "other shit", esp. in testing. In order to afford the testing - they drop all that other shit for the specification list as it will make testing a stone cold bitch. Then they sort of wrap it all up in a bow and send it out. If you want reliable, revert to the configuration that was tested..

.I have one and there is absolutely nothing wrong with it. All of those custom jobs and pretty much all of that very expensive fluff people do to guns (other than a nice slick trigger/internals polishing job) is wasted on the average shooter.

I've seen more ADs with other guns than I have with Glocks (actually have only seen one with a glock. And that was pulling trigger when they thought it was cleared) I've also seen many FTF incidents at the range . Funny as hell, because they have forgot to disengage the safety and it takes a couple of seconds to realize it. I also realize this is mostly with the less experienced but its still funny.

Surely you are mistaken. I have been reliably informed that both of my Glocks are killing machines that are only laying in wait, like cats, to murder me in my sleep because they have no safeties...and doubly if I am using the dreaded Blackhawk SERPA holster, because Glocks turn into fully automatic death-beasts when they come into contact with the SERPA...or so I've been told.

Saw an update today on the explosion at the Palestinian embassy in the Czech Republic that killed the Palestinian ambassador. Apparently the embassy was housing a full-blown weapons cache. And not just a few guns for the security staff either.
Palestinians hiding guns and explosives in a place that's supposed to be set aside for peaceful purposes? Imagine that!
Also, the translated article that Powerline quotes notes that it's very likely that the Palestinians have similar caches at their other "embassies".

I've had two stupid inicidents on my part in 20 years in which I am glad I carry a glock. First is playing catch football in the street with my girlfriend's son when I jumped for a ball and out came my gun from my Uncle Mike's inside the pants holster , flying high into the air and landing on the pavement. The three internal safeties made sure it would not AD. The other was when I dropped it down a flight of metal stairs. I still though instinctively hit the deck.
