20 Great podcast! I was so inspired I feel compelled to make the following observations:

===

The title of David Harsanyi's book, "The People Have Spoken (and They Are Wrong): The Case Against Democracy", plus the Churchill quote, bring to mind a couple of amusing quotes, both, it so happens, by Democrats:

Former New York Mayor Ed Koch, after his primary loss to David Dinkins: "The people have spoken...and they must be punished."

Dick Tuck, on his loss to Richard Nixon for a California Senate seat: "The people have spoken, the bastards."

===

The discussion touched on rooting for the failure of government programs like Obamacare. The discussion mostly centered on wanting the electorate to see that the programs don't work. But, I would go farther than that. In addition to believing that these programs will not work, I don't want them to work. If it were possible for the government to run some kind of fantastic healthcare program where my health is wonderfully managed, but at the center of it is the fact that the government will be making all kinds of decisions for me (for my own good), well, I don't want it. I want to decide how to run my life, even if I don't make the "right" choices. I want government to fail because I value my own liberty. Of course, government is not all wise, so the option for some perfect management of my life by government isn't even on the table.

Rush was criticized a few years ago (even here if I recall correctly) for the following statement:

My hope, and please understand me when I say this. I disagree fervently with the people on our side of the aisle who have caved and who say, "Well, I hope he succeeds. We've got to give him a chance." Why? They didn't give Bush a chance in 2000. Before he was inaugurated the search-and-destroy mission had begun. I'm not talking about search-and-destroy, but I've been listening to Barack Obama for a year-and-a-half. I know what his politics are. I know what his plans are, as he has stated them. I don't want them to succeed.

Rush was right. People who value liberty should not want those policies to succeed.

Regarding Marcotte's latest public display of her own vileness, Stacy McCain has an interesting piece discussing it: http://tinyurl.com/pmphna2. In it, he links to the piece that has Marcotte so bent out of shape. It's by Kristine Kruszelnicki, titled, "Yes, There Are Pro-Life Atheists Out There. HereÂ’s Why IÂ’m One of Them". Very well written. Link: http://tinyurl.com/p5vgnea.

Can Harsanyi have a debate with "Moldbug" Yarvin, Nick Land or even one of the neo-royalists?
