In any event, this story should instead have ended with Petty Officer Mayo still alive, and the last sentence of the report reading "Failing to comply, the individual approached the Quarterdeck, where he was immediately shot and killed by the Petty Officer of the Watch."

Small, slightly built women who carry guns have to realize that they are _not going to get second chances to pull that trigger_ before the larger, stronger male they are confronting simply takes the weapon from them. And in this case, that delay got a shipmate killed.

Run some Tueller drills. Instill some reality.
