AOSHQDD- Illinois Primary Night
— CAC

At the last minute, I decided to follow a real White Whale of a race: the gubernatorial contest in the Land of Lincoln.

Incumbent Democrat Governor Pat Quinn is vulnerable, but he was vulnerable four years ago: there's always Chicago to contend with. Still, if the Rs end up with a clear winner and stock up on zombie-fighting supplies, they might yet win this mansion back.

Results for Republican Primaries, Gubernatorial and Senate (it would be nice if a different sacrificial lamb faces Durbin this year), below. Once results roll in, pie charts will appear below for IL-GOV-R and IL-SEN-R

Politico called the Republican primary for the Senate race for Oberweis.

Calling the Gov primary now:

15 I went and voted for that Rauner fellow, just because I was there.

The thing that got me to the polls was the local skrools trying to up the local sales tax.

In the past, they've been very vocal in campaigning for the increase. 'Say yes to kids' and similar slogans. Got shot down every time. This go 'round, they've been very, very quiet. We'll see if that works for them. Sadly, it just might.

Dillard was my state senator, and didn't vary too much from my views on issues. So, of course, this makes him the best candidate EVAR!

130 Well, here's an interesting match up. Rauner is a dirtier Romney. His wife is big into common core. He's a RINOs Republican, through and through. Now Quinn has fucked up the state my brother says he is pretty well hated by many and they have big time problems. So Rauner has those tailwinds behind him. Truax is the tea party candidate, every man with a big family who wants to change the country's direction. Facing the Durbin machine. God how I hate that fucking POS. So I'm pulling for Truax, meh about Rauner. We shall see. My guess is that enthusiasm for Truax will actually pull Rauner over the finish line for Gov.

Senator: I'm rooting for Truax and looks like that race is a nail-biter against perennial loser Oberweiss.

Representive in my district: I'm rooting for Goel over Kaifesh b/c the latter is for "a pathway to citizenship", but it looks like Kaifesh will win in a landslide. Hopefully, Kaifesh -- should he win the general -- listens to his constituents and votes against amnesty. He is a noble guy having served in the military for 22 years.

200 Joe Biden caught "making up stuff" ... “Fifteen years ago, I was honored, as the chairman of the Foreign Relations Committee, to lead the fight for Poland’s admission into NATO,” Biden said in Warsaw during a visit designed to reassure America’s Eastern European allies in the wake of Russia’s move to take control of Crimea. The only problem: Biden wasn’t chairman back then. It was Sen. Jesse Helms, a North Carolina Republican, who guided the committee and launched the floor debate on granting NATO accession to Poland, Hungary and the Czech Republic. Biden did lead minority Democrats in approving the treaty resolution, after having initially expressed doubts about the political viability of expanding NATO.

202 Rauner will make Quinn and the gov unions spend in an expensive media market (Chicago). They won't take the chance because he has threatened to push them around. That is AFSCME, SEIU, AFL-CIO IFT IEA "dues" .. er .. sorry they are not affiliated or coordinating with any candidate or candidate's committee they would never do that ... that won't be spent somewhere else in the country. The best part of Walker was that the unions spend a fortune in Wisconsin (twice) and got nothing for it. Truax is young, a family man, West Point, Ranger School, and an expert in corporate health insurance plans. He will get after Durbin like no one he has ever seen in 20 years. You know, back when Durbin was a pro-life, social and fiscal conservative congressman. I hope Truax asks Durbin "Excuse me Senator, do I look like Pol Pot to you?" every single minute of every single debate.

This is the fundamental question that is never asked by the socons.  Even assuming you think abortion is acceptable, what is the upper bound on the number that is not at all problematic?  If 55 million is OK, is 100 million OK as well.

As a minor aside, I also think another related question is why I, through my tax dollars, should be funding your abortion when there are so many inexpensive and readily available methods of birth control.

I voted for Brady as my 'stragetgery' candidate since he was so close last time and Oberweis as my 'fuck you RINOs, I want to be represented' candidate and am pleasantly surprised at least the latter seems to have moved on through.

FWIW, my precinct was 75-37 Rauner over Dillard, so that doesn't surprise me.

And this may be lol-worthy, while WGN says too close, Citizens for Quinn just this minute ran during the returns broadcast an anti-Rauner ad (he's not a fan of the minimum wage-horrors).

Of note, WGN openly discussing massive union money and crossover support that went to Dillard which obviously would disappear in the fall.
