— Ace I guess it's possible that this will turn out to be some kind of government shake-down.
Former congressman Melvin Reynolds (D-Ill.) has been arrested by immigration officers in Zimbabwe, the Associated Press reports. An immigration official, Ario Mabika, told AP that Reynolds was arrested for an immigration violation and possessing pornography. The state-run newspaper also reports Reynolds has failed to pay more than $24,000 in hotel bills.
Reynolds had also, in 1995, faced charges for solicitation of child pornography.
I don't know what kind of porn the Zimbabweans are saying he had.
Clinton commuted the last two years of Reynolds' sentence, as he was leaving office, in 2001.
Hot Air notes that only The Hill bothers to note his party affiliation.

There are bits and pieces of this still somewhere in my memory. Something about how she was either lying to him about her age, or she was the daughter of a friend, or some such sordid details.
As I recall, Mel wasn't a bad looking dude himself, and had a hot wife...
I don't know. Maybe I'm mixing him up with some other douchebag politician.

25 Looks like Reynolds was drumming up business for Zimbabwe, and probably thought that made him untouchable. He probably stepped on the wrong person's business toes and got popped for doing what everyone knew he was doing.

I'm guessing they've been hand-in-back-pocket buddies for decades.
Which makes me wonder why he got popped. My guess is he encroached on the wrong person's business, or forked some General's pre-teen daughter.

Hello, my name is Mel Reynolds.
I used to be a US representative from the State of Illinois. Now, I am temporary undersecretary of culture in Zimbabwe. I have a business proposition for you. I have access to many desirable images, and also to a large amount of treasury notes* but cannot easily remove them from the country, due to being detained at Mr Mugabe's leisure. If you will forward your ISP and bank routing number, I can assure you of an amount not less than 40% of the balance, plus enough images so you can create your own "Women of the African Plain" video.

Depends on what he's really in jail for. I don't believe for a second it's the stated reasons. Reynolds wouldn't set foot in country if he wasn't politically protected by Mugabe or some other powerful interests. He's living the rock star life and then suddenly he gets popped for pr0n? I don't believe it.

Rand went absolutely straight for the jugular on Billary, and basically said that there *is* a War On Wimmenz in this country, and the ones waging that war are the likes of the Clintons, with their long history of having tawdry "bimbo eruptions" and then covering those up with muscle tactics and lies.
David Gregory looked like he'd been punched in the nuts. Doesn't this crazy Rand Paul guy know you're not supposed/allowed to SAY such things? Who knows where that could lead! Dogs and cats living together, chaos!
Anyway, what I want now is for Rand to go back on MTP to revise and extend his previous remarks to include this new instance of Clintonian sleaze. I will tune in just to see David Gregory trying to swallow his own tongue.
