Hmmmm... How about this...
Worst TV show for gun stuff - The Walking Dead. They reached their nadir when a character needed to commit suicide, and asked Rick for his revolver. He handed it to her and said, "The safety's on."
If that wasn't bad enough, the character closes the door, then a few seconds later we hear the sound of the suicide shot with Rick's revolver - followed by the sound of an empty case hitting the concrete floor.
[facepalm]

In this era of widespread body armor, the 7.62x25 Tok seems like a solution waiting for someone to ask the question.

What really irritates me is the inability of anyone to hit anything with a rifle past about 50 yards.

Today is or was the largest day for long distance calls all year.
In the 60's, before anything but land lines, often you could not get a connection.
One summer I was in Paris, IL and tried to call my mom. No direct dial back then, had to go through an operator.
The operator said all the circuits were busy, but she would call me back when one opened and she had my mom on the line.
THOSE WERE THE DAYS!

Had the most interesting time yesterday exercising my Ruger Single Six. Don't get to shoot that enough the last couple years.
Sweet sweet revolver. It was Dad's and he carried it everywhere. The man was deadly with it, I saw him hit 4 and 5 flat washers thrown in the air on many occasions.

Not so, the pop comes from water in the kernel converting to steam, all you need to do that is heat. Yes oil will accelerate the heat transfer, but you can easily pop with no oil.

It's the same with computers and the movies. All movie and tv computers make these beeps whenever things are typed or characters display on the screen. Does anybodies computers do that? Everything ever needed in available on the internet with just a few key presses by the right hacker.
There's more idiocy but you know what I'm talking about.

Much as I love my 1911, it took some research to understand and accept the "cocked and locked" function.
Once I got familiar with that, it gets carried everywhere configured thusly.

Revolvers DO NOT have safeties. There may be a few oddballs out there that do (and the Python, AFAIK, is NOT one of them, except for a prototype that never made production), but as a rule, no. They're unnecessary.
Modern revolvers DO have inherent safety mechanisms to prevent accidental discharge when dropped or when the hammer is struck with a loaded chamber under it. This is not a SAFETY in the sense of a lever that you flick on or off (which I believe is referred to as a "positive safety").

True for much older designs, like Colt SAA "cowboy" revolvers. Modern transfer bars make that nearly impossible.

*Having a child is the single best predictor that a woman will end up in financial collapse.
*Single moms are more likely than any other group to file for bankruptcy – more likely than the elderly, more likely than divorced men, and more likely than people living in poor neighborhoods.
*Single moms who had been to college are actually 60% more likely to end up bankrupt than their less educated sisters.
Cliff Notes on this bullshit.

My Remington 1858 has a notch milled in the cylinder. The Colt Army doesn't, so it's a 5 shot.

My Remington 1911 visits a very competent gunsmith yearly to ensure that it goes bang EVERY time I pull the trigger.
Never have had a malfunction using it (yet), love to see that continue. It eats anything it's fed.

My Dad just gave me his Govt Colt 1911. He got it through the NRA in the 60s for $14.00!
I checked the serial number to see when it was made. 1943 and was actually manufactured by Ithaca. It has the inspection mark, FJA, for Col Frank J. Atwood.
btw, CZ, to me, was always about motorcross bikes...

Same for the .45, lots of mass but no velocity. Sure, you have 1 or 2 more rounds in the stack but after I go empty the next gun out is a 9mm with 16 rounds.
No malf's with my Ruger wheel gun, ever.
Kinetic energy for the masses!

The 500 rounds of .22LR, now that was like striking gold. I had just bought a Mossberg 44US from a friend- pretty similar to the one I shot on the ROTC rifle team. Hadn't had much to feed it though.
