Happy Valentine's Day, You Mouth-Breathing, Planet-Hating Simpletons
— JohnE.

Some hyper-partisan people, with no evidence to support their claims, often accuse our liberal friends of being entirely incapable of finding any joy in even the most simple, politically-neutral things.

These baseless accusations must stop.

Posted by: Jeffrey Ball at February 13, 2014 04:08 PM (oFCZn)

Posted by: Seamus Muldoon at February 13, 2014 04:08 PM (ylrQX)

33 The female orgasm takes too much time, energy, and carbon pollution to achieve. Clearly women wanting an orgasm are just selfish, evil, planet-killing, climate-change deniers. The science is settled - the bj is the most energy-efficient and planet-friendly form of sex. The goal should be to minimize time and body movements. Energetic sex is planet-killing sex. Since the man is, on average, bigger than the female and consumes the most energy when active, an obvious goal for America is to minimize the amount of work men are expected to do during sex. Which is why the hummer is the clear choice for the modern eco-activist. If you care about the planet, if you care about carbon pollution, then you must reject the female orgasm as inherently selfish and too energy intensive. Every female orgasm kills an acre of rain forest! Only you can stop this modern holocaust!

84 Mouth-breathing lets you get more oxygen and be more active and therefore is a planet-killing sin and probably racist. You should breathe through your nose. Ideally through a straw. Raising your heartbeat above the minimum required for survival is a sin and eco-crime. Excitement of all kinds is an earth sin. Reject your urges towards excitement, sex, and activity. Try to breathe less often. Human life is a crime against nature, don't compound it with happiness or enjoyment or activity or exercise or sex or fun of any kind. Earth First!!

114 sorry OT and a tiny bit spam:  If any of you folks use Mary Kay products an internet friend posted this on a horse BB I frequent.    (this is not my business or my friend with the preemie)   She added today that baby Isaac is going to need heart surgery,  he has a murmur and its not closing up on its own as they had hoped it might.   I'm more of a wallyworld/target shopper for this kind of stuff personally but I think MK does make good stuff, they have a lot of loyal customers over decades.

I have a friend who delivered a 27 week old baby on Christmas Eve. He will be in the NICU till his "due" date in March. He's doing well and progressing as he should, but their bill is going to be huge.

I'm offering a fundraiser through my Mary Kay business- if anyone wants to order, I'm sending them 100% of my profit if they mention Isaac or put ISAAC in the coupon code when checking out online.

My website is www.marykay.com/lisaporter2012.

I'm running my friends "party" through February 28.

If you want guilt, go for the Puritan Valentine cards.   Here's an example:  You almost make my heart dance, and dancing is forbidden.  Roses are red, violets are blue, and neither are necessary.  Being with you fills me with impure thoughts, and I am ashamed.

10 Ways To Have A Progressive ValentineÂ’s Day

#5. Get New Candles

When youÂ’re setting the mood remember that most candles are petroleum-based, which mean you could be exposing yourself to neurotoxic fumes.

Help your health (and your loverÂ’s) by switching to beeswax or soy candles. TheyÂ’re widely available, including at local farmersÂ’ markets, and are also a step toward easing the U.S. off its dependency on foreign oil.

No neurotoxic fumes? Well, so much for romance.....

148 Shortly after WWI, IIRC, Albert Einstein presented his theory of General Relativity to the Austrian Physical society. About half way through his presentation, he realized that the math was wrong. A physicist in the audience also realized the same thing. The race was on to correct the math, and Einstein won, but not by much. He put his theory out in front of the entire world to either prove or disprove and it took over a decade to prove him right. Fast forward to the early 2000's. Phil Jones, one of the leading proponents of global warming, was issued an FOIA request to produce his data, this being legal because his research was publicly funded. He refused. He was issued a second request, which he also refused. The third FOIA request was taken to court and he was ordered by the court to produce the data. Phil Jones destroyed all of his data rather than "let those deniers use it against me." That right there is all you need to know about global warming. I apologize for the long post, but those people flat piss me off.

This Valentine's Day, you may want to hesitate before buying your loved one a box of chocolates. If you knew under what conditions it was produced, it probably would not taste as sweet.

About 43 percent of the world's cocoa, which is what chocolate is made from, is grown in the fields of the West African nation of the Ivory Coast. World cocoa prices are extremely low and cocoa growers have been forced to cut their labor costs. Massive poverty and indebtedness have increased, tragically leading some cocoa growers to use the cheapest form of labor: child slave labor.

I don't care much for chocolate, but I do love flowers. Roses are my favorite.
Posted by: grammie winger

This Valentine's Day, many of you will be buying roses or other flowers for your loved ones. But probably many of you don't know that the workers in Ecuador and Colombia that produce those roses are working under increasingly precarious conditions.

Workers arrive at the plantations at 7 a.m. and stay until 3 a.m. the following morning, resting only for a few hours. After Valentine's Day, many workers are fired, and many can't find new jobs until rose production increases again for Mother's Day exports.

What's worse, more than 100 pesticides are used in the production of cut flowers in Latin America....

216 160 This Valentine's Day, you may want to hesitate before buying your loved one a box of chocolates. I also want my coffee beans picked by child laborers because the adults squeeze the beans too hard will picking them. Children's fingers and grip are more gentle and don't bruise the beans. Dammit, I want a good cup of joe, and this is the best way to get it. So what, you have to break some eggs to make an omelette.

Note the last paragraph..., and start referring to it as Washington's Birthday: http://www.archives.gov/legislative/features/washington/ Posted by: Mike Hammer at February 13, 2014 09:14 PM (aDwsi) --------------------- Aha. Damn. Damn the media to hell.

287 I love capitalism. I love money. I hate wasting money on bullshit holiday trinkets. See the difference? Posted by: Mr. Moo Moo at February 13, 2014 09:27 PM (0LHZx) How are the holiday trinkets not capitalism, again?

288 "It's kind of sad actually seeing people go nuts over this Hallmark Holiday, because it says the other 364 days a year you treat each other like garbage." 1. I've seen no one "go nuts". 2. "...treat each other like garbage." We do no such thing. 3. You know very little about love, so sorry for you.

291 I bought my wife slave-labor chocolate and a tree-chopping card. I just wish I could afford a blood diamond encrusted bra and panty set.

292 You treat each other like garbage. Who's "You"?

Posted by: FenelonSpoke at February 13, 2014 05:40 PM (XyM/Y)

293 We always make a big deal of celebrating our kids' birthdays. That way we can ignore, humiliate, or beat the crap out of 'em the other 364 days!!!!

294 Are there really people who think like this?  Now I know why twitter is so successful.

I give my wife a single rose at odd times during the year.

I do it just for because.

296 284 Mr. Moo Moo My kids made valentine's for their friends and we got them chocolates and they're going to a party tomorrow afternoon too. It's a fund kids holiday. For adults....not so much. Happy Valentines Day, Charlie Brown ... you do realize that this is a cartoon, not real life, right?

297 Hollowpoint's acknowledgement that heteronormative rape penises are a problem is the first intelligent thing he has ever posted. Unfortunately he means it with the usual racist and sexist overtones of mockery.

298 Now I'm going to have to shovel out my car so I can go out and buy a Valentine's Day card, maybe for myself.

299 I'm kinda with Moo on this. Luckily I'm married to a frugal, unromantic woman who would yell at me for wasting money when I used to buy her Valentine's stuff. So, I stopped. We use the money for other things.

Doesn't mean I'm a commie or hate capitalism. Buy away, it ain't my money. Unless you're in the FSA.

300 The 18.5 grams of carbon dioxide emissions were due largely due to boiler or CoGen emissions. This reminds me of the clowns at the Rio Earth Summit back in the early 90's. They decided to use recycled paper cups instead of Styrofoam. It turned out that recycled paper (I have worked for two paper mills) use something like 30 times the energy and generates about 300 times the toxic waste. Of all of the commonly recycled materials; Paper, glass, Plastic and aluminum, only aluminum costs less to recycle than to produce from raw materials! This green crap is a total scam. See Penn and Tellers Bulls^&t.

302 I thank my wife more making a progressive wet himself with concern for mother earth. What greater valentine can I get...besides a BJ, of course.

303 Remember, Valentine was a Christian martyr who defied and empire. And because he was a citizen of said empire, he was executed by beheading and not crucifixion. So that saved a tree, and a lot of CO2...
