Hey, Now That You Mention It, Just Where Was Obama When The Benghazi Consulate Was Under Attack
— andy

With the latest revelations from the Judicial Watch FOIA'd emails and ramped up dissembling from the lying liars in the White House bringing Benghazi back to the fore, the question of just what, exactly, in the f*ck the leader of the free world was doing when our diplomatic personnel were being murdered by Islamofascists remains unanswered.

Andy McCarthy wants to know ...

Outnumbered and fighting off wave after jihadist wave, Americans were left to die in Benghazi while administration officials huddled, not to devise a rescue strategy, but to spin the election-year politics. The most powerful and capable armed forces in the history of the world idled, looking not to their commander-in-chief but to a State Department that busied itself writing press releases about phantom Islamophobia. The president of the United States, the only constitutional official responsible for responding, was nowhere to be found.

... and Patterico thinks he might have the answer.

Here is an interesting tidbit from the White House Visitor Logs for 9/11/12: Obama met with three people, at an unknown time, for “debate prep.”

Be sure to read the whole thing. And we also talk a good bit about Benghazi on this week's podcast, so give that a listen as well.

The White House has moved on to the "it's old news" (dude ... DUDE!) phase of Democrat/MSM (BIRM) crisis management, but this is just getting started.

Chris Stevens, Sean Smith, Ty Woods and Glen Doherty deserve no less than for the American people to know the absolute, unvarnished truth of what happened that night and for someone actually responsible ... not scapegoat crappy YouTube guy ... to be held to account.

12 I think Obama was "voting present" by purposely being unavailable to make a decision for which he could be criticized. Little did he know the fight would last 7+ hours. Richard Miniter reported that Obama pulled the same stunt w/the Bin Laden raid - they had to postpone it several times because Obama kept avoiding having to give the go ahead by sleeping on it, or going golfing for 9 hrs.

17 From The Blaze, Th Woods' father speaks: When asked if he felt he was intentionally lied to, Woods recalled his meeting with then-Secretary of State Hillary Clinton at Andrews Air Force Base back in September of 2012. “Hillary Clinton came up to me and I gave her a handshake and a hug, and when I shook her hand she said to me, ‘We are going to have the filmmaker arrested.’ Even at that time, she was trying to place a spin on what happened,” he said.

34 There is already testimony that the JEF only spoke with his military advisors one time, at 5pm, for thirty minutes. Then never again Gen Lovell testified Friday that he was in the room when AFRICOM was calling state in DC requesting orders, and they never got any There has already been testimony from Petraeus and the military and the station Cheif in Libya that the didn't attribute the video. It first showed up with Petraues number 2 Morrell, after he consulted with the White House Those four and half hours AFRICOM was waiting for orders, the White House was consulting with someone. But it wasn't DoD or CIA The only thing that makes sense is that the JEF reached out to someone, who gave him the blame the video talking point. And he took this advice over that of the DoD or CIA. The White House really does NOT want to disclose where he was, who he was talking to, or where the blame the video meme came from I can only assume that's because it is too damaging. I am certain he contacted Muslim brotherhood who advised him that night. That's why he didn't go to the situation room. He didn't want DoD and CIA to interfere. Val Jarrett and Rashid Khaledi have long reach in the MB. That's who his advisors were the night of the attack. That's what they are hiding

40 The thing that really frosted me about Tommy "Douche Dude" Vietor's statement was that it made the murder of an American ambassador and three others a trivial event unworthy of remembrance. I suspect that the God-that-Chooms headed for the tall grass and told underlings (looking at you, Hillary and Leon) to "handle this." He had to prepare to go to Vegas to get that sweet, sweet campaign cash: that was more important than one of his ambassadors being under armed attack.

48 Sorry to be off topic so quick, but I didn't want to leave this on dead thread. Dr. Wehby, the leading republican challenger for a senate seat in Oregon, has missed getting a campaign contribution from me. Today I watched a video (via Mediaite) of a candidates meeting with reporters of the newspaper Willamette Week. During the questions and answer session, one of the primary candidates, Mark Callahan, noticed a reporter was writing "Blah, blah, blah, blah" as another candidate was giving an answer. He called the reporter out for being so disrespectful. The reporter came back with a smart ass question and Callahan protested further, causing the person running the session to kick Callahan out. Wehby sat there, not saying a word. This is an alt-weekly newspaper with openly liberal reporters, who Callahan rightfully asked "who do you think you are?" She should have walked out with Callahan and ended this charade right then. If we learned anything from previous encounters, it's that our candidates need to learn how to handle the press. They need to be able to call them out, put them in their place, humiliate and degrade them and make them wish they were serving french fries instead of being on camera looking like a fool. Let's hope this Wehby finds the courage to stand up to press bullies.

65 I think the Tommy Vietor 'dude' episode showed the fundamental nature of the current administration in stark relief. When Bret asked TV if he changed a word from 'attack' to 'demonstration', TV said in essence that he couldn't remember because 'that was, like, two years ago'. Bret, and every single member of the moron horde, knows that the original formulation of the talking points with 'attack' was true and the 'demonstration' was false. When Bret and his writers edit their scripts, they always keep in mind 'THE TRUTH' and how best to present it so that it can be clearly understood. TV, and doubtless many others in the administration's political wing (redundant, I know) doesn't have TRUTH as a regulator. If you like your health care plan, . . .

He makes the call to LCDR Erik Kristensen, who wastes about a half of a second and then gets multiple helicopters and a rescue team in the air. The was exactly ZERO FUCKING CHANCE that they weren't going to go to save that team. 2012 A United States Embassy is under attack. Well after it is clear that it is a coordinated terrorist attack, no one EXCEPT two SEALS who were there on unrelated business did a damn thing. About a dozen people up to and certainly including Clinton should have been banging on doors and jumping on tables demanding a response. But no one. And the CINC? Nowhere to be found. 98 Here's what I'd like to know about Benghazi: 1 - Why was the security so inadequate? 2 - What was the ambassador doing in Benghazi? 3 - Once the attack started, why was nothing done to help them? Who ordered that nothing be done? 4 - Where was Obama during the attack? What was he doing? 5 - Where was Hillary during the attack? What was she doing? 6 - Who in the administration decided to blame the video in the face of evidence to the contrary? I really don't think it's asking too much for the administration to answer these questions. The American public deserves to know.

113 Tommy Vietor This is the problem with the government now. Electing the standard batch of mewling politicians to office itself will change nothing. You have to ruthlessly root these infants out of the bureaucracy and reduce/eliminate the Federal Bureaucracy. The bureaucracy is the problem. Most of us know this. This is where the real power lies and they, the self-entitled juiceboxers who possess the wisdom of piss poor Saturday morning cartoons, have it. Yes, the (D)Marxists losing will help, a little, but that will solve nothing. There are so many Clintoon slobbering sychophants entrenched now that it will take a scorched earth campaign to eliminate them. 138 Nascar knockout qualifying on Fox, live now. At Talladega. Nascar changed their qualifying format this year to make it more TV friendly. Used to be everybody just took turns running a lap. Faster you go, better your starting position. Fastest wins pole. This year everybody qualifies at the same time, with 3 rounds. Fastest 24 cars make it to round 2, top 12 make it to round 3. At Talladega putting everybody on the track at the same time to qualify really amps up the odds of a major multi-car wreck. Which is probably why Fox is putting it on Fox and not their sport cable channel FoxSports. This style of qualifying is much shorter than the old style. They're trying to make it a TV friendly version with more drama. It is more fair since everybody's out at the same time. Old style lasted so long, with hours between drivers running their laps, that weather changes often determined who ran pole.

155 I've pointed this out on various sites to little effect, so let me say it again:

The last thing on Obama's schedule that day was a doctor's appointment at Bethesda Naval Hospital. When I looked again a month or two ago, the White House website had changed the information, so it just said he visited Bethesda but didn't mention the doctor. (I'm too lazy to look again now.) They obviously didn't want people asking what I have asked before, and will ask again here:

1. What drugs did Obama's doctor prescribe for him? Valium? Antidepressants? Antipsychotics? (No, we don't have a legal right to know the answer to that question, but we have a moral right to know whether the president is taking anything that affects his on-the-job performance.)

2. What drugs, if any, and in what doses, did he take that afternoon before the news from Libya came?

3. What condition was he in when he urgently needed to respond to the Libyan emergency? Unconscious? In a daze? Hopped up?

Drugs would explain his lack of response at least as well as drink or sex. It would certainly be an odd coincidence if he just happened to see someone earlier the same day who could have provided them, but didn't.

158 I want to see the questioning start with the important ones.

When the poop hits the fan, somebody in some unit nobody has heard of... and isn't really supposed to ever really know about, is supposed to mount up and GO.  Team America theme song optional.  Nobody went.  Why?

Either we didn't have anyone available in the MIDDLE EAST; which is an ever bigger failure of the system or we did and the order wasn't given to GO.  That we are without resources in the Middle East given we have NATO countries on the other side of the Med is almost belief.  It would have been a blow to pride but look at a map, France isn't out of range and they certainly have special ops units if ours were all busy somewhere we still can't talk about.  So we can eliminate this option.

We know there was live video streaming into both State and the WH so they can't claim they didn't know.  We know the first instinct of everyone in the military would have been to mount up and fly.  Somebody decided to stand down.  Somebody with the authority to tell the military to do something they really wouldn't want to do.  Who? And again, why?

Push until an answer to those comes and the fallout is all but assured to be interesting.

If you really want to go to dark places, ask another question.  One I haven't even heard raised here before.  The enemy had been fighting us for over a decade,  They KNEW our warcraft.  Why the hell did they think they could attack a US consulate for hours and hours with impunity?  They know they don't win long stand up fights with us, preferring to hit and run whenever possible.  Yet they embarked in a long engagement, apparently secure in the knowledge the usual prompt appearance of air power, and their slaughter, wasn't going to be a problem.  Hmm.  Poor guy on the roof was painting targets with a laser designator for several hours, expecting the usual appearance of air power.  He knew the score, the enemy gets raucus and rowdy, the jets and helicopters put em in the f'ing dirt.  But this time they didn't come.

I just followed the Patterico link, and now the White House claims he was visiting wounded warriors at Bethesda. I have a very distinct memory that it was listed as a doctor's appointment at the time. Have they changed it again to come up with a more plausible (and admirable) reason to visit Bethesda, since people were wondering what he was doing in Bethesda? I wonder if there's any evidence that he actually visited any wounded warriors on that day, or any day. That's something Bush did all the time, but Obama? Of course, even if he did, he could have slipped in a visit to his doctor while he was at BNH. If he was just 'refilling a prescription', it wouldn't have taken long.

There is a WH doctor available at all times.  No need to go anywhere for a doctor appointment.  Even blood tests would be done in the WH.  More detailed testing?  People come to the prezzy, not the other way around.  He certainly would not sit in a waiting room for his prescription(s).

171 >>Stevens was to be captured and used as a hostage in trade for the blind Sheikh . It seems to be one of the only scenarios that would explain why Obama left our embassies unsecured o 9/11 (when they had always increased security on past 9/11s), ignored Stevens' please for more security in general, and why he simply did nothing throughout the attack. Andy McCarthy had blogged about the blind sheik's son holding a press conference (IIRC it was a month before 9/11) in which he vowed to attack the US embassy in Cairo and hold its occupants hostage until they released the blind sheik. In fact, the WH had weighed a US hostages/blind sheik exchange 6 mos earlier when 16 American “civil-society activists” (including the son of Transportation Secretary Ray LaHood) had been detained by Egypt’s interim government.

173 "Obama fucked around preparing for his Vegas fundraiser.

People died."

Damn, it's not short-and-snappy enough, and it doesn't rhyme.

Somebody give me a hand here....

Actually the ONLY WAY  Preznit PiffleWit's delay makes any kind of sense is if he thought it was "handled".  Like, "It's all going According To Plan, time to get some shut-eye so I'm bright-eyed and bushy-tailed for my Vegas speech".

Human piece-o-shit.  When he finally dies, they should bury him in a little wooden outhouse (complete with that famous crescent moon) -- not a coffin.

174 A_Nonny_Mouse, you're likely right. About the only other scenarios I can come up with are that he was so drugged up that his handlers kept him isolated for fear it would get out and/or he was MIA/offsite meeting with someone(s) he could never admit to being with.

175 But how could this happen? Here's what I tweeted that night. #ass_raping_our_ambassador_not_cool

176 We need to give the progs in this country a lesson they will never forget; the first step in that lesson what given by the millions of gun owners in NY and Connecticut (of all places) who in response to the gun control laws passed by their legislatures said: "Let me think about that... NO". The second step must be given by the Republican controlled house who must not lose this historic once in a lifetime chance to pass amnesty now.

177 The media wants this to go away ASAP because it will ruin it for Hillary.

178 Yet they embarked in a long engagement, apparently secure in the knowledge the usual prompt appearance of air power, and their slaughter, wasn't going to be a problem. Hmm. Poor guy on the roof was painting targets with a laser designator for several hours, expecting the usual appearance of air power.

It is even worse - it is my understanding that the target designators don't work unless they receive a signal from appropriate air power on station. In other words there absolutely was air power of some sort there to interact with the target designator; they were forbidden to fire. Not having assets in the area is one thing - this is a completely different level of perfidy.

Your point about extended engagement is an excellent one.

179 161 Re visit to Bethesda: It was 9/11, and that seems like an appropriate thing for a President to be doing, especially during an election campaign. I'm sure there are photos, and probably some journos along. It'll be documented.

180 160 Agree with the point about the extended engagement. I had not thought of that before. Hopefully someone can dig into it.

I'm curious, why after like 2 years dude, we still haven't heard from any of the 30 people who were there and rescued by the former SEAL CIA contractors.
