Hillary Clinton: On Second Thought, I Guess Benghazi Did Sort of Make a Difference, At Least to Four People
— Ace

Asked to name her biggest regret during her time as Secretary of State, she says "Benghazi." Of course, when she was asked about the details of this regret by Congressmen seeking details of how four Americans came to be killed despite advanced warning and unanswered requests for more security, she shrieked "What difference could it possibly make?"

What does she blame? "Imperfect information," she suggests (I think-- she doesn't really say what exactly she regrets about this, other than that it happened).

She doesn't mention "YouTube videos" as a regret.

29 I created the Really Truly Hillary Gallery (http://www.zombietime.com/really_truly_hillary_gallery/) in 2008 to facilitate mockery of Hillary Clinton by bloggers and satirists. But I officially "retired" the page (something I almost never do) after the 2008 election, and it has remained "orphaned" (not linked to from my own site) ever since. Until now, that is. If she really is running in 2016, looks like I will have to un-orphan the gallery once again.

Posted by: zombie at January 27, 2014 02:44 PM (+cx5n)

30 She doth protest too much, out of both sides of her face. She wants to get the emotively good reputation of caring while having a history of claiming there was nothing to care about.

40 Her personal nastiness will be difficult to hide during the campaign. Plus, she's old and unattractive. I'd also mention her lack of accomplishments, but that's not important to the LIVs. The first two are.

42 Does she regret her actions, or that four men died, or that she got caught? I really, really wish someone would frame the questions re the deaths in Benghazi in terms of the fact that they left ALL of them there to die. It is a miracle that only these four, brave men paid the price. It's not that she "left four men to die" but that she left dozens there to die.

43 I think that all the evil she has been involved with, all of her life, will consume her before she can get the nomination. She's not in the best of health, has a strange lifestyle and has already been embarrassed by losing to nobama. And "hubby" is an anchor. Some modern day Shakespearean irony, indeed.

I would love it if someone would finally ask specifically which part do you regret?  Not providing enough security in the lead up to the attack, leaving the men and women in that annex to die by denying them every resource at the military's disposal during an 8 hour attack, or lying about everything after the fact?

This gets glossed over, but #2 is the horrific part.  If not for the actions of a handful of men running into a near-hopeless situation, the death toll in Benghazi could have been every person in the annex.

92 Here: Last week the Senate Select Committee on Intelligence issued its report on the Sept. 11, 2012, terrorist attacks in Benghazi, Libya. The report concluded that the attack, which resulted in the murder of four Americans, was "preventable." Some have been suggesting that the blame for this tragedy lies at least partly with Ambassador Chris Stevens, who was killed in the attack. This is untrue: The blame lies entirely with Washington. The report states that retired Gen. Carter Ham, then-commander of the U.S. Africa Command (Africom) headquartered in Stuttgart, Germany, twice offered to "sustain" the special forces security team in Tripoli and that Chris twice "declined." Since Chris cannot speak, I want to explain the reasons and timing for his responses to Gen. Ham. As the deputy chief of mission, I was kept informed by Chris or was present throughout the process. [...] However, on July 13, State Department Undersecretary Patrick Kennedy refused the Defense Department offer and thus Chris's July 9 request. His rationale was that Libyan guards would be hired to take over this responsibility. Because of Mr. Kennedy's refusal, Chris had to use diplomatic language at the video conference, such as expressing "reservations" about the transfer of authority. (wsj.com)

106 Another problem that Stevens was trying to sort out according to Hicks the second in command at Tripoli- was--when you switch the security forces from State to DOD special forces-- the military personnel would lose diplomatic immunity and would have been subject to trials by the Libyan government of they fired on a crowd--for example. And there was a incident in 2011 in Pakistan and earlier in Libya. Chris described an incident in Pakistan in 2011 when an American security contractor killed Pakistani citizens in self-defense, precipitating a crisis in U.S.-Pakistani relations. He also pointed out that four International Criminal Court staff, who had traveled to Libya in June 2012 to interview Gadhafi's oldest son, Saif al-Islam al-Qadhafi, were illegally detained by tribal authorities under suspicion of spying. This was another risk U.S. military personnel might face. Hicks says he gave this testimony to the Senate Intel Committee but for whatever reasons it was left out of their report.

Expect the Clinton bloc to cast Hillary as the omnicompetent calm professional savior woman who will fix everything that the excitable amateur Obama fucked up.

Obama, who dislikes being thrown under the bus despite his habit of doing it to others, will respond by shifting his bloc's support to a non-Clinton candidate, and it surely will not be Joey Choo-Choo. Booker's too new. Warren's too white.

My guess? Longtime Obama crony Deval Patrick.

He has no administration stench on him. Is far from Chicago but is still on amicable grounds with the Chi-town machine. Has the proper trouser creases to impress the Peggy Noonan/David Brooks bunch.

And, Obama knows that he would become utterly legendary even beyond his present level of legendariness in the black community if he could manage to cleverly maneuver a black successor into place. Legacies matter. So do black constituencies in Democratic primaries.

198 when people apologize for "what happened", its their way of saying they are in no way responsible for "what happened" when you accept responsibility, you apologize for what you did, for the choices you made not what happened

199 188 "Imperfect information"? What does that mean? That all those telegrams from Stevens begging State for more security and warning about AQ's increasingly menacing activities in the area should have been worded better, or printed in prettier typeface? Who does this woman think she's kidding? Posted by: Trivial Pursuer at January 27, 2014 07:29 PM (/sohm) ************* Well you know who read the "Imperfect Information" correctly? Every other damn organization that got the hell out of Benghazi. The Red Cross. The Brits. The French--probably. Can't remember who the hell else got the heck out of Dodge. But that was Colonel Woods concern-- that the Americans would be the last flag operation/target there. Everyone else had bugged the hell out.

203

That point and over-smile and wave thing she does when she walks out onto the debate platform?   Totally set my teeth on edge.

What I'd like  to see is Hillary, mayo-cooter hair, bathtub boy and some others walk across the stage.  We could call it, March of the Pears.

204 Every time I hear that harpy's name, all I can think of is "ewwwwwww."

I'm hoping that is the general response of the general public, particularly of the voting public.

Of course, I'd be happy with "ick," too. Sorta makes me want to scrape something off my shoe.

206 But she's already taken "full responsibility."

For, you know, that thing caused by some video that was out of her control.

For which she "suspended" a few folks at State over (though they've since returned).

So, you know, move on, this has already been covered, she's looking at the future and giving the people what they want in 2016. And stuff.

214 This shit is really just despicable, but par for the course where the Clintons and the Left are concerned. Now Hillary's simultaneously introspective about her shortcomings in this incident and indignant towards those in the VRWC who would use it to question her judgement and competence. All without ever truly being called to the carpet to answer for what really happened there; as far as the general US public still knows, it was something about a YouTube video and Mitt Romney.

217 "Imperfect information"

For 7+ hours, within real-time, full view of a drone and some former SEALs on the ground with radios - that imperfect information?
Sounds like Panetta when he said something like, "You just don't send people in when you don't have all the information." Of course not. Never is this done.

If I'm curious about a missing white teenage girl, I'll tune in Greta. Other then that she's the weakest shit going on FOX News. I think she's the only one in the primetime lineup that regularly gets beat by CNN and even MSNBC. Why the fuck they keep her is anyone's guess.

228 Did I mishear, or was there a military team in Italy told they couldn't go to Libya unless they changed out of uniform (per DoS request) so as not to be a "military presence" there?  This cost them a critical hour to re-organize and additionally would have made them enemy combatants (if I remember the GC correctly).  At any rate they never left Italy.

I think "what diifference does it make" was not in reference to not providing security, but why she didn't fight the CIA "talking points"  over the question of whether or not there was a demonstration in Benghazi before the attack , but let that stand. What difference does it make, because they corrected it etc.

But it sheds a great deal of light.

My thumb is already tired from muting Obama every time he comes on the screen. I will have to get an artificial thumb if she gets elected to two terms. Help!! ... plus, she is fat and nasty and mean spirited.
