In Early (and Likely Inconsequential) Polling, Christie Fades, Opening the Door to the Republicans' Newest Frontrunner for President: Jeb Bush
— Ace

Read this. I didn't.

No but seriously I did skim it. It seems like news, especially today when I really don't feel like working, but I do think it's kind of, you know. Way early.

For the case that Rand Paul is the early frontrunner, see the National Journal through this Instapundit link.

At the end of the day, we're not even at beginning of sunrise.

Unrelated, But Interesting: Putin opposes fracking. Because, Environment.

No just kidding. Stop laughing.

Russia actually fracks like the wind. But he speaks up against fracking because he sees it as a threat to Russia's power, given that Russia exports so much gas and oil.

And specifically, he doesn't like the fact that Ukraine has signed deals with Chevron and Dutch Royal Shell to explore and exploit its own considerable shale wealth.

25 What that means is the "establishment" title is up for grabs. They're grasping for anything. This is a potentially a very good thing, and can explain some of the "make nice" done by those generally not considered establishment. Rand not throwing McConnell overboard, as an example. Should Scott Walker win his re-election, he may be able to take both the outsider and establishment camps.

Jeb Bush is a distinguished Governor and he earned the respect the other Republican Governors because he did an outstanding job. He understands that Republicans need to be more welcoming, more open and appear less angry if they hope to win more votes from women and minorities. That wont be popular with the tea-party ilk, but they will have to learn that being noisy and pugnacious wont win elections. That he is a Bush is indeed somewhat inconvenient, but we would still be very fortunate to get such an excellent politician to lead the ticket!

146 I got a call from my brother Paul a few minute ago, heÂ’s back in the hospital & has been since yesterday morning, with a high fever & infections. HeÂ’s been on antibiotics since 2/6 through a pic line but they must not have worked. A friend I work with is having surgery today, it should be done by now,on her breast because she had abnormal cells. They did a biopsy & determined that they need to take more. I do not know what to expect, usually itÂ’s a lump. Her younger sister has had breast cancer four times. A woman I work with found out over the weekend that her sister has a brain tumor. The woman I work with is a cryer & I donÂ’t mean regular crying, she is a sobbing, screaming howling mess. SheÂ’s cried like that even when someone passes that is old & sick & itÂ’s expected. Her sister is supposed to have the brain tumor removed today. It seems awfully fast since Saturday. Story might be a bit off because only one woman spoke with her & itÂ’s hard to understand in between sobbing etc.

That's why oil fields are found around the various geological fractures, like tectonic joints (or whatever they're called) or that place in the Yucutan where the meteor hit.

It's a cool idea, and if true (probably not true), would mean that the earth has a zillion times the oil that we thought it does, and is making more all the time.

201 Maxim Eristavi ‏@MaximEristavi Shock #2: Yarosh, the leader of far-right Right Sector is nominated for Nat'l Security Council deputy I don't understand enough of what Right Sector is yet. Their enemies say they are fascist, ultra-right, etc, etc. Here's a video, dubbed in English, of the Right Sector's sales pitch. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-Inu_-0dcSU It's called Right Sector - The Great Ukrainian Reconquista. I do know that Right Sector member provided much of the strongest fight against the govt, and suffered much of the brutality. They seemed to have supplied more of the young men willing to fight and die than other groups. They were more aggressive, more confrontational. Their sales pitch sounds like pretty normal euro christian right. They are anti-cultural liberalism, anti-capitalism in many ways -- pro traditional Ukrainian family, and culture, and religion. Rejecting much of the modern world's trends. Seems like standard blood and soil stuff that many right-wing parties in europe do.

204 Racks brain trying to think of something good Jeb maybe did for Floriduh. Brain rattling around in head due to three days listening to a generator next door... sort of like a dentist in head with drill but duller sound and tres annoying #hatehavingneighborswhopressurewashconstantly (seriously, they have three young kids and two shitzu barky dogs who, apprently, pee on carpets. All I know is in addition to this hideous three days they have Stanley Steamer over every other month). This couple is ok, but seriously, let me hear some quietness, soon, peoples.

Oh, moment of silence! Hear birds chirping! Jeb does know how to organize a hurricane prep vs what went on before Katrina in NOLA. So, there's that! But other wise am drawing a blank. He got in trouble, or his wife did, for shopping or something. Pro-espanola and immigration, I think.  He was an improvement over Crist, the cockroach-colored cross-dresser. And Scot is ok, I guess, I no longer pay attention as I am sick of politics unless Rick Perry is involved, then I sort of perk up momentarily. Or, if Trey Gowdy is giving people hell I listen, or Rand Paul. Otherwise, bleh.

265 Allah loves polls.  They require no thought or research, always attract a bunch of comments, and make the suits at Salem think he is actually working.

Christie was NEVER going to be a real contender.  It was all media hype.  Jeb Bush is almost certain NOT to run, and very certain not to win if he does, at least in 2016.

Polls this far out are historically useless and the few times they have had the eventual GOP nominee for an open seat in the top two this early has been when there was a consensus frontrunner, which there is certainly NOT now.

I say, let all the half-witted fools who support Paul, Cruz, or Rubio have their fun.  We will nominate a Governor.  Thank God.

Think of the Senators with no executive experience who have been elected President:  Harding, Kennedy, Obama.  They all SUCKED.  Because they weren't remotely qualified for the office, which is more than making speeches.

I'll defer to you on that but I got the shitty candidate part right!

268 Hi jwest, I'm a Cold War Asshole. You on the other hand are a useful idiot.

In 1968, horizontal well fracturing was our little secret. Nobody in the world, outside a couple of US engineering companies, had a clue how to do it. If the world had really been the dangerous place we theorize it was, "we" would have taken that very, very dark, and the rest of the world (barring Soviet spycraft) still would not know how to do it.

Did we do that? Not at all. "We" spread that technology all over hell. As we do. And we paid for foreign exchange students to come here and study that, and nuclear engineering, and aeronautics and physics. For World Peace.

More proof, seems to me, that we didn't really take the cold war all that seriously.

The only thing about JFK is that he was assassinated. ThatÂ’s the only thing that moved him into sainthood in the eyes of most of the dems. I was three and donÂ’t remember it at all but here in Boston area, my home was not one, most people had picture of JFK on mantle etc. I wonder if my mother refused to have it or if they had any clues that he was womanizing SOB.

273 Laugh if you want but Jeb Bush is the frontrunner.

The Four Faces of the Republican Party

"In sum, a Tea Party candidate either needs to clearly deny any breathing space to a more evangelical candidate or he must emulate George W. Bush in 2000 in having enough appeal to other factions to gain enough strength to survive the early states. The likelier outcome will be a repeat of the traditional GOP three-way war between its somewhat conservative center and the two large ideological wings: the moderate secularists and conservative evangelicals."

274 Let me call bullshit on one thing: Putin loves fracking. Otherwise, we wouldn't have US engineering companies getting paid fat stacks of cash to design fracks, on a per well basis, for Russian companies that are looking to maximize their production. I know cause I have friends doing that right now.

275 23 Fuck, the Republican establishment really has a hard on for Jeb Bush. They really don't want conservatives to vote in 2016 do they?

No non-R is going to vote for Bush either, so...?  I'm certainly not, and I haven't voted for a Dem since Dukakis.

276 Hey, guess what. A federal judge has struck down the ban on gay marriage in Texas. Stayed it of course, until the appeals court or Supreme court weigh in. Isn't this just a little too coordinated? My guess is Michigan's Amendment ban will fall next.

277 Go ahead, play that Jeb Bush card, GOP. Not a chance in hell that I'd vote for him.

280 Bush fatigue is what gave the country a full blown Marxist in the White House and 60 seats in the Senate.   Besides, it's clear Jeb will shove amnesty down our throats ASAP (not that he'd actually win though)

Rand Paul has the most potential to form a new conservative coalition which the GOP badly needs.

281 Besides not wanting to see another Bush running around the country proposing "compassionate conservatism", I am incredulous to learn that John Conyers has announced he will be running for a 26th term as a US congressman from Detroit. He is currently 84 years old and has been in Congress for...fifty years. http://tinyurl.com/nugmql2

283 John Dingell, the current oldest cretin in the House of Representatives at 87 ,announced a few weeks ago that he is finally stepping down after helping to destroy health care and the health insurance market, amongst his many achievements. His wife, Debbie, who is 27 years his junior( in other words, could be his daughter) is being prodded to run for the seat. The Michigan GOP has stated that they don't have a shot at the seat.(so they are not even going to run anyone).
