Very Nice Post on Venezuela
— LauraW

Otra Vez

Communism* is nothing more than an organized crime ring run by the state. It just extorts, parasitizes, and kills everything it touches, and then fails. Always. Always, and again. Punitive redistribution absolutely requires the creation of a brutal tyranny to carry it out.

Self-regarded 'elite,' but actually very dumb journalists have to be shown this, and their own stupidity, over and over again, and the dimwits made to understand that the repetitive failure of leftist ideology to produce a livable state, is absolutely preordained by its own tenets and goals.

So how many times do we humans have to try Communism before we figure out it doesn't work?

As Carin notes, it's happening in real time. Again. Right here in our hemisphere.

And the foolish newscasters are silent, because the foolish newscasters all loved Hugo Chavez, who was 'democratically elected,' in an election that was 'certified by former President Carter!' Egads, what fools they are all shown to be now; it is no wonder they want to avert their eyes from this mess.

But look they must. These same foolish journalists aired every glorious piece of news they could about Hugo Chavez when he was elected. Regardless which despot is in power now, all of this devastation was done, and is still carried out by, Chavistas. But now we hear crickets from the American press. Cat got their tongue?

It is inexcusable to allow our idiot journalists to ignore the downfall of a beautiful nation, right here in the Americas.

A beautiful nation the cause of whose looting and destruction was obvious. A beautiful nation whose disastrous turn left was actually hailed by these oh-so-stupid people who write newspapers, and who we see on TV.

You were wrong, dummies, and we were right. Again. Do you get it now, stupid? Do you understand? Has this not been hammered into your thick, vacuous skulls hard enough yet?

Yeah, so I had some fights with lefty friends about the election of Chavez, who I correctly assessed as just another corrupt strongman communist, at the time. It grieves me to have to rub their noses in it now because it means that innocent people have suffered an utterly predictable destruction of their home and prosperity. But it has to be done.

You were wrong. I was right. Am I happy? No. People are dying. Beautiful Venezuela is now a terror state, there is no milk in the stores, and even after nationalizing industry, the government cannot even use its own vast natural resources to do anything but kill its own citizens.

Just as I said would happen. While you cheered for Hugo, idiot. Go sit in a corner and wear the pointy cap until I tell you it's okay to go get me a juicebox, Juicebox.

Please do go to the link, and read Carin's post with all its attendant links and great quotes. Very nice work, Carin.

And share the video at the end with with your lefty friends. The police are killing unarmed kids with real tyrannical zeal.

Maybe ask why Obama hasn't seen fit to help these people who are dying under a despot right here in the Americas, the way he intervened in the Middle East on behalf of people who attack our embassies?

Do they wonder why? Maybe journalists are not so dumb. Maybe they know that the violence in the streets of Caracas is going to look an awful lot like the demonstrations that prompted Obama's involvement in the Middle East, and that's why they can't show it.

Or, there could be some other reason. Who knows?

*Chavistas are actually Communists, not socialists as described everywhere. I have no idea how this misnomer got started.

Point of order here:

Communists are socialists and vice versa.

Socialism is the source of every modern totalitarian form of central govt:  Fascism, communism, dictatorship, committee rule, etc.

Just like the Muslim Brotherhood is the source of all Sunni radical terrorist and sharia thought.

You might be thinking of Honduras where a close Chavez ally was president, and decided to run for reelection despite their Constitution explicitly forbidding it. After a nigh unanimous vote in their Congress, which was quickly validated by their Supreme Court, the military was ordered to depose the scumbag or "an illegal military coup" as Obama put it. The US cut off all aid until they reinstated the little dictator.

THAT's why they keep trying it: they crave power over others. They do NOT pursue Socialism because they think it's the Best Economic System for the country, they pursue it because they MUST be in control over everything.

Which is why it's totally Not Valid to say that they Don't Understand the free market. They totally do, but the free market is self-organizing and doesn't need an Overlord to work.

66 I think my recent theory on this boils down to: Socialism always either fails or degenerates to fascism. Socialism sells you on the idea that you can get your fair share. No altruism, greed. Moreover, it's because you belong to an oppressed group. In Marx' case, he said it was "the workers" but it could be a number of things, including racial. At some point, you realize you can't have a whole society of parasites getting their "fair share" from a producing class that's tapped out. Because socialism doesn't turn parasites into producers. Then you start to realize there are other people vying for the teat, and they don't deserve it the way you do. You and your group, that is. Hence, fascism. Still, there's that unscientific tendency of the Left to refuse to test the outcomes. They'll never believe in the failure of their ideas. The theory is right, it's just that the data is wrong.

The American Left loves the ideological purity of straight-up communism. To them, it's an ideal, an aspiration, a Utopian dream always just ahead, somewhere in the distance. But they consider themselves pragmatists at heart, grounded in science! and schooled in realpolitik, hence the march through the institutions and the acquisition of the media, the takeover of the universities and now most of the federal government.

I firmly believe the only thing--the only thing--keeping us from going the way of Venezuela right now are millions of privately owned firearms.

It does not make the day less depressing, especially with the lapdog press misunderstanding what the word "cover" means in a journalistic context.

It was obvious that the viewer was supposed to be impressed with how many they turn out, etc., etc. My only thought was, "My God. The Industrial Revolution really did pass them by." I think the lathe they were using was still foot-crank operated. I mean, I'm all for the "hand-painted" thing, because it usually turns out better than an assembly line paint-job. But the rest of it? This is the most essential aspect of our fight with the left. They dominate all means of communication with the public, and they have been feeding the public crap for decades. 152 a level playing field It's one thing to level the field prior to the game as a safety measure that benefits everyone, costing neither team. Quite another to arbitrarily stack the teams according to political whim at game time and make up new rules arbitrarily in order to "win" the predetermined "fixed" outcome. When the Quakers for instance lived in agricultural rural communes, they were free to leave at will if they changed their mind. The earliest Christians lived in communes, sharing all, caring for each other. "Love" the rule. Zionism is communism, as another example of functional socialism according to "true believers" making it work. But Communism fails the "ideal" test when it is forced arbitrarily against the human will, denying liberty and justice EQUAL UNDER THE LAW. Politics are Corruption. And authoritarianism is awful, regardless of its designation. There are always bullies who pervert every form of governance in order to abuse authority. Since their 1789 Revolution and killing their elite class of rulers, the French have evolved through all sorts of authoritarian governments, and since their 1870 defeat in the Franco-Prussian War, the old guard gave up on monarchist return to power and "co-opted" the liberals who were of VARIED socialist agendas (WWII illustrating the fascist v. communist).

Apparently the restaurant chain "Chipoltle" has created their very own comedy series called "Farmed and Dangerous." Now while I might not agree with their purpose behind doing so, I think that it is a very good thing when people are creating their own competitive media content, rather than allowing the existing Liberal asswipes to have a monopoly on content. I think business getting in the habit of creating their own entertainment message cannot but help to break through the Liberal cartel/monopoly on content creation. I think conservative groups need to create stuff like comedy series to get their message out. If people enjoy it, they will come.

Had to cash out my retirement account to pay the bill. Cashing that account out to pay a tax debt still counts as income, so now I'm up a couple brackets and I owe big this year too because of that jug-eared fucktard in the White House dicking with the witholding.

I'm going to take the taxes to a professional to get looked at for once, but I think I'm fucked. I've been unemployed for three months and wiped out the savings account on that- I can't write Uncle Sam a check for $2K. I don't have it.

306 Irony Alert: Hollywood Liberals Ask California For A Tax BreakÂ… ShouldnÂ’t they be practicing what they preach? Via Daily Caller: You know things are bad when Hollywood liberals are asking California for a tax break. Film Works, an entertainment-industry advocate organization, recently launched an online petition asking CaliforniaÂ’s film and TV enthusiasts to lobby lawmakers to create greater incentives for production to stay within state borders. While operating costs in California have grown more expensive over the past decade, other states and countries have established film tax credits in an effort to bring production to their territory. If California does not pass similar legislation, Film Works warns, the state will lose hold of one of its most iconic industries. Weasel Zippers: Hypocrits

323 37 didn't we (the US) make Venezuela put Chavez back in power after a coup? Posted by: rd at February 18, 2014 01:15 PM (D+lxs) You might be thinking of Honduras where a close Chavez ally was president, and decided to run for reelection despite their Constitution explicitly forbidding it. After a nigh unanimous vote in their Congress, which was quickly validated by their Supreme Court, the military was ordered to depose the scumbag or "an illegal military coup" as Obama put it. The US cut off all aid until they reinstated the little dictator. Posted by: mugiwara 106 Honduras' "coup" (lawful transition) was also grossly mis-reported and is still referred to as a coup in the MFM. The more you look, especially if you start looking at political connections between the American left and Central and South America, the more you find these ties with the hard left, including terror groups like FARC. It does not make the day less depressing, especially with the lapdog press misunderstanding what the word "cover" means in a journalistic context. Posted by: Merovign, Dark Lord of the Sith Thank you Thank you for bringing that up. Yes Bush complained to the OAS about Chavez being thrown in jail and they let him out even though the whole time Chavez claimed that Bush and the CIA were behind the coup. And the thing that makes me furious is that so very few people (aside from the Dark Lord) understand that WE SOLD HONDURAS OUT! What they did was lawful and right. After our State department complained and complained about a 'coup' that never happened, I believe WikiCables were leaked that showed by the very same State department cables that the USA was calling it a coup and trying to get Chavez's boyfriend back in power just to curry favor with Venezuela. Just as the Obama people were down in South America before 2009 telling the Communist FARC guerrillas to cool it until Obama was elected (you remember that?). Well, all that smart power™ diplomacy should have given us tremendous sway with the current Venezuelan government right? I mean we backed the Communists against a Democracy in our own back yard. We have Top Men.

326 'A New Argument for Gun Control' surprisingly it's full of dumb just like the rest http://tinyurl.com/mor8e49 The gun lobby frames the gun control debate using overheated rhetoric about rights that sound suspiciously like an appeal to masculinity; real men don't let anyone take away their guns. How childish. Real men don't need guns to be powerful. It's time we put this argument in it's proper perspective: ready access to guns is, in the terminology of Catholic dogma (but logical to anybody who can think) an occasion of sin. If you want to avoid committing a sin, stay away from the immediate temptation. It's a pretty foolproof method. If you don't want to gain weight, stay away from the cookie section of the supermarket. If it's not in your kitchen cabinet when you're hungry, it's far less likely to end up on your hips. If you have ready access to a gun, you can be tempted to use it. And when are you tempted to use it? Whenever you feel disrespected? Angry? Frustrated? In the heat of an argument, when all sense of proportion and reason is gone, and all that remains is emotion, it only stands to reason that if you have ready access to lethal force, a moment of anger can turn violent. In a flash. I am all for keeping guns out of the emotionally immature leftists hands.

327 275 It's not even an issue of the journalists' stupidity or ignorance. You can't show something to the willfully blind. The journalists are partisan to the point that they have lost their objectivity, the same with the catastrophic manmade global warming scientists. These are intelligent, well-read people, but they are dishonest and not objective in how they look at reality. Posted by: Roadrunner at February 18, 2014 02:20 PM (xMSfj) The most appropriate term is "Confirmation Bias" and yes, they are completely infected with it. They are infected with it to the extent that they cannot even comprehend that they are biased. They think the entire world looks at issues the same way as do they.

329 "I have seen no evidence that most newsies are either intelligent or well-read." The point is that no amount of further education or "intelligence" would make these journalists suddenly realize that communism is bad and that it will fail. Their problem isn't lack of knowledge, it is dishonesty. It's like saying that maybe Stalin would become a nice guy if he read an ethics book or read the Bible. It won't help him because Evil people are beyond salvation. Dishonest people are beyond education.

331 Posted by: SGT Dan's Cat Glad you found something but two things: 1)Don't dump the cats. Just because. 2)You now have to pay to leave the Country, as in renounce citizenship. You can walk away and just leave but any dealings with a financial institution anywhere will be trouble forever. Under our new glorious system the IRS and its enforcement branch through the Treasury reach all over the globe. No bank will do business with you. I've thought about it too.

332 "The most appropriate term is "Confirmation Bias" and yes, they are completely infected with it. " I think Confirmation Bias is too charitable. A good honest person by mental sloppiness could engage in confirmation bias. But a good honest person couldn't engage in the level of deliberate and dishonest sophistry that we see every day from the NYT, who tell us that unemployment is funemployment, or that it's a good thing that health insurance plans are being cancelled. They are fundamentally dishonest.

333 Just thought I'd give some personal historical perspective on the situation in Venezuela.

When I was in 4th grade or so (1954) my cousin was killed during riots in . . .  Caracas.

There have been riots, unruly protests, murders and dictatorial regimes in Venezuela for well over 60 years. (and in much of the rest of the Americas during that time off and on)

Lots of passion lots of anger and frustration and lots of bad things happening to people because they continue to vote for strong men as their leaders and then wonder why there's so much corruption and things don't work.

Has it always been inspired by Communism? IDK but I do know that there's a long history of political unrest and the inability to create a stable government of any stripe. I believe it's a cultural thing. Perhaps even racial/ethnic as they have much in common with many other countries of the same composition and ethnicities/races of the population. Stereotyping? I suppose so but trends are trends and they're not subjective opinions about what happens, only about why it keeps happening.

QUOTE OF THE YEAR

Every Republican should have this in their talking points when arguing against big government.

335 #332, the cats and the fact in the Internet age the fuckers COULD find me anywhere is the only reason I didn't do it in November when the wife split.

Well, that and my Spanish sucks.

I totally down for the Patches.  We should have multiple.  This is an AWESOME idea.

We need some swag.  Honestly, whats the point of being a member of the moron horde if you can't show it.  I personally love calmly and respectfully intellectually destroying lefties.  Please let me do it wearing a t-shirt with a pudding cup + Balls + (Down Arrow) = VICTORY.

Patches, hats, and t-shirts now.

Machetes, mines, and moonshine later.

I'm no history buff but former spanish colonies just tend to be terrible compared to former english colonies. Think of Cuba, Mexico, Venezuela, etc, compared to the USA, Canada, and Australia. My wife is Italian and she says southern Italy is lazy and corrupt likely because it was at one time under spanish control, whereas the northern part is more culturally similar to the Swiss. Spanish culture sucks. Everywhere it has been you find laziness, corruption, and collectivism.

338 Well, all that smart power™ diplomacy should have given us tremendous sway with the current Venezuelan government right? I mean we backed the Communists against a Democracy in our own back yard. We have Top Men. Posted by: Daybrother at February 18, 2014 02:39 PM (B5+l+) When someone who is self-evidently intelligent and successful, and yet appears to be a complete idiot, it is just possible that what they are trying to achieve is not what they are telling you they are trying to achieve. In this case, they're backing a destructive ideology while publicly claiming that they're trying to achieve stability, justice, teddy bears, or whatever. There are, oddly, a *lot* of FARC connections in Congress. FARC is a terror group. The situation seems completely bizarre until you realize none of these people give a damn about laws or terror, they give a damn about power, and about their ideology being *seen* as successful, right, and powerful, no matter the real-world consequences. Religion is the opiate of the masses, and those masses are leftists, and that religion is Marxism (and its brood of imitators).

339 Posted by: D-Lamp at February 18, 2014 01:47 PM (bb5+k) I firmly believe this is why the left is so relentlessly attacking Fox. Obamacare is a failure and disliked by America, yet only Fox is reporting on it basically. The MSM never reports on the excesses of the vacations and lifestyle of Moochelle and Barry, yet people are aware of it. All of the repressed stories get out to the public, and that just cannot stand. Fox is having abigger impact than we think.

340 "Mass murder and genocide are also not bugs but features of communism."

Starting with the French Revolution, their model, which added the words "au mort", or death, to their famous liberty, equality, fraternity slogan. Darn thing just doesn't work without mass murder.

341 "Fox is having abigger impact than we think." Exactly, and that's why the leftist backlash is so aggressive. How many "turn off Fox" bumper stickers do you see? I can hardly step foot on the internet without seeing a bitter leftist mutter "faux news". The left is ultimately anti-intellectual and they will try to shut down open debate and discussion of facts.

342 "Communism* is nothing more than an organized crime ring run by the state. It just extorts, parasitizes, and kills everything it touches, and then fails. Always. Always, and again. Punitive redistribution absolutely requires the creation of a brutal tyranny to carry it out. ..." Well put! Apparently co-bloggers are allowed to be awesome on the same day as Ace. 343 So wait, what's difference between socialism and communism? Is socialism just communism without the blood?

Posted by: Finster at February 18, 2014 02:24 PM (lVGw5)

344 Socialism has failed in Venezuela? Is there anyway for the people of Venezuela to walk their country back? Of course not. Socialism has, therefore, succeeded. Saying Socialism is a failure is like saying a mouse trap makes a lousy mouse feeder. Before you judge a thing, you truly have to understand its purpose.

345 Ukraine, Venezuela, the United States, Communist disasters.  Under communism the state owns the means of production.  Under Fascism "friends of the government" own the means of production.  If you can figure out the difference, let me know.
