— Ace Bloggers are annoying as eff. Even I think that, and I am one.
Last year Jeff Gordon shot a commercial for Pepsi Max in which he "pranked" people by unexpectedly taking them on a fast, wild ride.
Well, a blogger with the Gawker group claimed it was "fake." (Many commenters actually think the first video was fake, to one extent or another.)
So many people are probably taking some satisfaction in Jeff Gordon "pranking" the blogger who claimed the earlier was fake, by now taking him on a high-speed "escape" from pursuing "police."
Below is the first video -- the one claimed as "fake" -- and then a vengeance video that definitely isn't. (?)
I always wonder about the legality of "pranks." Apparently Pepsi Max got permission from... Gawker to do this. That seems to be how they do it -- they get permission not from the actual target of the prank, but from a relative, friend, or associate.
I don't know the law on "pranks" and I don't really understand how a third party can give you permission to subject someone else to false imprisonment and so forth. I suppose maybe it's not a complete defense, but permission from a relation can be taken as evidence that the prankster believed the prank would be appreciated in the end.
I also, of course, strongly suspect that there is a large cash payment, made just after the prank, to get a signature on a release. And that probably helps an awful lot.

I hate to be ANNOYING, but I actually think the original one was fake, and this latest one was real.
Notice some of the differences:
In the new one, he is in a cab with a plexiglass separation between him and Gordon.
In the new one, his seatbelt doesn't seem to unlatch (they must have rigged it so to prevent injury)
And there might have been other things too. Basically it seems that in the recent prank, they took all the precautions one would imagine they SHOULD take to account for the unpredicability of reaction of the person being pranked (will he try to punch Gordon and take control of the car for example?)

Also, they know that everybody that works for Gawker is an attention whore, so a cash payment wouldn't even be necessary. The publicity would be plenty.

Oh yes. For example, if someone here were to get permission from my employer or a family member to prank ME by pouring a bucketful of tarantulas in my lap? You had BETTER PRAY that it comes with a HUGE cash payment, if for no other reason than I'll need that money to pay my lawyer fees when I'm brought up on charges for second degree murder for killing whoever held the bucket.

Amichel:
I wonder about that as well. I'm not concerned about a conceal carry situation, who is going to shoot the fucking driver?
Heart attack absolutely. Remember the elevator/ghost child prank. Where some little kid in dead makeup slides out of a panel when the lights go off in the elevator.
Now there is heart attack central!!! Or what if someone attacks the kid!!??
But it's funny shit nonetheless...

A Gawker employee with a gun? Hahahahahahahahahaha.
I will note that he almost succeeded in dialing 911 at one point, which would've made the prank a bit more problematic.

I've seen a couple of prank shows where they used those exact scenarios to prank the pranker.
In one they convince the kid he's going to be on a wild and crazy prank show. So they give him a blood pack, and send him into a barber shop. His understanding is that when the barber is cutting near his ear he pretends to be cut and slaps the blood pack to his ear, and viola, fake injury.
Well the real prank is on him. When he does that, the barber has a fake heart attack. The getaway car drives away without the kid, and the barber's "daughter" comes in terrified. The kid confesses right away that it's a prank and the daughter is asking him why in the world he'd do that, her Dad is dying for a prank! Then when he's convinced he's killed this poor girl's Dad, they reveal what's happening.
Very mean.
I don't remember the other one really well, so I probably shouldn't tell it. I think it's a fake robbery and one of they gets "shot".

There's a YouTube channel called Prank vs Prank that has a couple that, you guessed it, pranks each other. It has to be fake because the pranks are so mean that if they were real they'd end a relationship.
We're talking things like the guy sneaking up on the girl, while he's holding a pie. She's leaning over. He slaps her on the butt really hard and when she straightens up in pain he shoves the pie in her face.
In one she sneaks in on him showering and shoots him multiple times point blank with a paintball marker. Depending on the settings of the marker that sort of thing could cause near-permanent welts.
Proof: There was a Jackass "stunt" where a bunch of guys shot the Dwarf guy a bunch of times from about ten yards. In interviews months later he showed off the marks he still had on his torso.
