Funny, the moral inversion and cretinism of Hollywood on every other topic (role of the state, role of America in the world, moral status of producers - the economic kind - etc.) has kept me out of theaters for going on 10 years.  This sort of vile tawdry shit is just "making the rubble bounce" to borrow an old nuclear targeting expression. 

 

Even when I forced myself to go see a movie (Flags of Our Fathers, Letters from Iwo, Lone Survivor), the disappointment-verging-on-disgust for the pathetic treatment of very important true material served as a sort of slap to the face.  Never will understand how Lutrell allowed almost all of the interesting parts of his true story be dropped from the movie, and idiotic stereotypical stuff be crammed in.

I've been a gym rat for much of my life and haven't yet been blatantly approached or propositioned by the platoons of hypersexualized gay men you suggest are lurking in the showers, waiting to pounce. Unlike San Francisco bath houses or airport restrooms, people of all sorts typically use gym showers to, well, shower.

 

That said, I was a fairly good looking guy when I was young, so I've been hit on by gay men about a zillion times in various social settings.  Shaking my head and saying, 'No, thanks, man,'  always got the point across. They would say, 'Okay,' and move on. I didn't feel threatened or anything.

The massacre in February prompted me to ask what the press found lacking in story surrounding Boko Haram’s atrocities that they would not cover it extensively. Was it a geographical bias? Was reporting from Western Africa more difficult than Beslan, Russia? There, hundreds of school children were massacred in 2004, and that event comprehensively covered in the Western press. Maybe there was simply an ethnic bias at play, and American audiences were prejudged to care less about atrocities in Africa than in Europe. But the events of the last month have demonstrated that none of these explanations were accurate. Apparently, the press simply needed the right reason to cover this terrorist group and their brutal tactics. But an even more disturbing question needs to be asked now: why did the press spring to action when young women were kidnapped, but were virtually unmoved when it was young boys who were being slaughtered and burned alive?

Undercutting Leftists financially by competing with their industry ought to be a no-brainer for activist minded conservatives. It is something i've thought about getting into myself, (I made some pretty good commercials back in the 1990s.) but I've got too many real world and practical projects going on of more immediate concern to myself and my family. But I commend those conservative people with imaginative talent who can write and come up with ideas.

The trend over the last few decades has been toward (one-sex) suites and away from community baths altogether. But where com baths still exist, they are nearly always unisex.

244 Yeah, the college all-sex showers thing is very limited, a few loony places. It was a small fad that was exaggerated by the media cause it's so obviously crazy sounding. The trend is for ever more protection of our ever more fragile college students -- most 18 year old girls really don't want random dongs in their showers.

251 240 Oh, I know these guys are openly gay. I just don't think that means Costanza Defense's original claim that gays molest at higher rates is true. You could get a rough picture by looking at sex offender registries and comparing that to public marriage records. It's incomplete, because sham marriages exist and of course not every rape results in conviction or even report, but it would be something.

I really don't see how you avoid this "problem" unless you either a) ban gays from gyms or b) create 2 shower areas, one for straight men and one for gay men (assuming the ACLU wouldn't file suit against the gym 3 seconds after the idea was suggested).

If that's the case, they'd have to sue for having locker rooms for two genders.  Locker rooms ain't just about the difference of "equipment", but because ya can't trust naked men and women in such a  shared situation, for sexual reasons.  Doesn't mean every instance will devolve into a Roman orgy, but you'd have to be willfully blind not to see the problems that would develop.

And if gays can wave rainbow flags and other "look at me!" methods of self-identification in their never-ending grasp for normalcy and acceptance, why would there be a problem with a separate locker facility, aside from the economic aspect?   If we painted it a rainbow hue, would that make it better? Even more, why should "I" have to wait for the gay guy to finish showering, why can't he wait for me?  He's the one with the same sex attraction in a shared gym, not "me".
