Michigan School District Contract Stipulates That Non-Christians Must Be Given Favorable Treatment in Hiring
— Ace

There's another way to say this, of course: that members of a particular religion, Christianity, should be affirmatively disfavored and discriminated against.

Does this run afoul of the Constitution? Of course.

Gabe Malor gave Ed Morrissey his legal opinion at the link.

We seem to be having an outbreak of MLBS (Meatball-Like Behavior Syndrome) at this site.

33 The Right needs to use more lawfare. Flood the zone with lawsuits. It is supposed to be illegal to be discriminated against because of your race and religion. Yet discrimination against white people in college admissions, government hiring, government contracting, and corporate hiring and promotions is systematic and widespread. Systematic anti-male discrimination is also widely practiced. And increasingly that is being extended to non-Christians. The Progressive Trash Ruling class hates white Christian males -- so, whenever then can, they systematically discriminate against those traits. It is supposed to be illegal.

55 Again, I point out that Jesus promised that Christians would be persecuted. It is no surprise. As in John 15:18, "If the world hates you, keep in mind that it hated me first." I also am brought to mind of the story of Daniel. Daniel was the most favored man in the land, but Darius ordered that no one could worship anyone but him (it was part of a plot to bring down Daniel by those who were jealous of him.) Daniel refused, and so Darius threw him into the Lion's Den. Daniel survived. His religion lives today. The Persian Empire? Not so much. The Romans thought they could feed Christian's to lions. Today in Rome is the seat of the Catholic Church. And ruins of the Roman Empire.

Related to this story is this:  A retired 777 pilot called in to Rush's show and they had an interesting conversation about his theory of what happened to Malaysian Air and also something I didn't know - that there are a lot of foreign nationals that fly American carriers.  He said that he has talked to the FBI and the Pilot's Assoc. about this and recommends that all pilots receive an exhaustive backround check prior to sitting in a cockpit.  Who do they talk to in Pakistan?  etc.

111 I'm not sure what they would mean by Christian/non-Christian. Whether a person is a Christian or not is a matter of the heart not of appearance. Are white people of European descent considered to be Christian? Are people who celebrate Christmas and Easter considered to be Christian? 151 This is from Idaho: Direct Discrimination Direct discrimination means different or “disparate” treatment between applicants because of some type of classification. Example- when persons are treated differently because of their race, sex, age, religion, color, national origin or disability. Title VII and the IHRA prohibit purposeful or direct discrimination. As a result of those laws both blacks and whites can be victims of race discrimination, and both women and men can be victims of sex discrimination. Title VII and the IHRA prohibit discrimination in all areas of the employment relationship between the employer and the employee including hiring, firing, promotions, wages, job assignments, fringe benefits and other terms and conditions of employment. All private employers with 15 or more employees, as well as all federal, state and local government employers are subject to Title VII’s discrimination prohibitions. All private employers with five or more employees, as well as all employers who contract with the state are subject to the IHRA. The bottom line for Idaho employers is that with the limited exception of bona fide occupational qualifications (explained in the “Commonly Asked Questions” section of this pamphlet), a person should not be hired or rejected because of his or her race, sex, age, religion, color, national origin or disability. http://labor.idaho.gov/lawintvw3.pdf

154 Do they check you for magic underwear?

When I went to BYU there was a rumor that girls were doing this.

Background:  Typically a Mormon guy will go to BYU for a year, then go on his mission.  Before going on his mission he becomes "endowed" (gets his magic underwear to you).

So girls that are looking for a guy who is a returned missionary were rumored to put their hand on a guy's lower thigh with the purpose of feeling for the hemline of the garment.

IE "checking for magic underwear".

To be clear, this wasn't intended as a slam to Gabe.  It's just to point out that there are those that define "judicial activism" as going beyond mere interpretation of laws and application of precedent to facts, or legislating from the bench, as it were, and there are those that attribute "judicial activism" to any decision in a controversy, even those other than borderline, because they don't like the outcome.

200 Yeah, the main target here is white people. Targeting Christians is a bonus. White people are systematically discriminated against by the government. And it continues because white people are trained from birth that it is racist for them to stand up and object to be discriminated against for being white. If you object to being discriminated against for being white, you are immediately labeled a racist and wannabe Klansmen screaming about "White Pride!". Nobody wants to be accused of that, so they just keep quiet and try to route around the systematic government discrimination. Affirmative Action has been the law of the land since 1971. We are almost 45 years into the Affirmative Action era. Jim Crow only lasted 80 years.

"Unfortunately, there are no employees in the district who have been here long enough to explain the origins of the language, which we estimate to have been inserted between 1976-79. "Please note that the district does not discriminate in hiring on the basis of religion or other related issues," she said.

The boss screened the applicants to a final 3, then a small committe ranked the final 3. The boss openly said she screened out all the white men. The final 3 were a hispanic woman, a black woman, and a white woman. The black woman was hired. She was the most qualified of the 3 on paper. My friend did manage to see some of the rejected white guy resumes. Almost all were more qualified than any of the 3 final candidates. His boss (this was a private company) didn't hide her open racial and gender discrimination. She was proud of it. She was bragging. She told people because she was expecting praise for being so progressive. (Oh, they had to fire the black woman after 6 months cause it turned out she'd lied on her resume and she didn't have the experience necessary to do the job and was in way over her head. For 6 months my friend had to do most of her work cause she just didn't know how to do it. She was really nice, he said, she just clearly had lied about having years of experience in the field.)

Posted by: willow at March 19, 2014 02:01 PM (nqBYe) ---------------------------- Yes, that's a problem the Left is going to have to face in this transitional time. Right now, you have all these devout socialists who find it expedient to call themselves "Christian." I think what they will do --- they are already setting this up --- is to have designated (state-approved) "Christian" churches that will be okay. The churches that follow the historic faith will be designated as "hate groups." Then you can drop the too obviously illegal discrimination against "Christians" and shut out the "haters," the traitors to social justice and human rights. That's the way Hitler and later Stalin did it. The Ferndale, MI way is too clumsy.

309 When I feel brave enough to compare my circumstance now with, say, August 2008, and withstand that vertiginous feeling and the giant sucking sound, I have to recognize that we are at war. The front is everywhere. The enemy is often hidden. And we are under attack nearly constantly, certainly every time there's power to the TV, for example.
So, I buy ammo, practice marksmanship, and stay in shape. I watch my pennies, so to speak, and try to put them into a real store of value against an uncertain future.

318 People say I'm crazy for preparing to move out to the "third world." But there are still places where normal life, as Americans once knew it, still exists. There are still places where angry gays don't go around making life hell for the straights. Where you just don't have to be lectured about diversity every damn day. Where the normal variations in himan thoughts and opinions are not resulting in losing your job, discriminatiry tax enforcement, etc. I am willing to give up some ease and comfort for that. Our great wealth has made it possible for the trash of our society to spend their days dreaming up ways to persecute the rest of us and deprive us of domestic tranquility. Since I can't kill them, all I can do is leave and take what's mine with me. And salute my so-called fellow Americans with my middle finger as the plane takes off.
