Mike Rowe Responds to Critics of His Walmart Ad
— Ace

He's right to do so, and this is pretty satisfying.

Worth a read.

The backstory is this: Mike Rowe (former host of "Dirty Jobs," and someone who's pro-work and pro-blue collar jobs, a notion disfavored by the tout petite bourgeousie that makes up the left's lesser chattering classes) has done an advertisement which promotes Walmart, but promotes Walmart because they have agreed to do something he believes in, and has argued for: Walmart agreed to purchase $250 billion (with a B) of American manufactured goods over the next ten years.

Note here that Rowe's goal is similar to that of many people, including those on the left, who want some kind of industrial policy (that is, government subsidization) to re-grow American domestic manufacturing. Rather than resort to government, he used (or was recruited by) a private corporation to accomplish the same goal.

Rowe, by the way, has some kind of foundation which he says pursues this basic goal.

So what's the problem? $250 billion is an enormous sum of money. Walmart would like some credit for this. Mike Rowe would like to give Walmart some credit for this, because Mike Rowe believes in buying American, and America working.

Well, the problem is this: Tribalism. The Tribe of the Left has decided that Walmart is evil, and they please their fellow tribesmen by saying Walmart is evil, and so even when Walmart pledges a $250 billion purchase of American domestic manufacturing, the dumb members of the tribe still want it explained to them how that is just awful, and the minor Priests of the tribe therefore undertake to do just that.

Basically they do that by writing snarky and uninformed blog posts about Rowe. Rowe refutes them.

Apparently a writer for CBS couldn't refrain from the Huff-Po level tribalistic attack. The writer noted that Mike Rowe had responded to a critics, “Who gives a crap about your feelings toward Walmart?”

Unfortunately, Rowe writes, “Aimee leaves out the most important part, which for the record was this: ‘For that matter, who gives a crap about MY feelings? Isn’t the business of making things in America an initiative we can all get behind?’”

But the CBS writer didn't include the full quote, preferring instead to truncate it so that it "proved" the claim made by an agitator with a group called "Jobs with Justice." Here's how that article reported it.

The ad might not have sparked such a fierce debate if another spokesman had been tapped. But Rowe, thanks to his seven-year run on "Dirty Jobs," is viewed by many as the voice of the underdog, the overworked and the underpaid. In short, the champion of the types of people working in Walmart jobs. Rowe then threw a bucket of fuel on the fire by writing on his Facebook page in response to one consumer, "Who gives a crap about your feelings toward Walmart?"

"He dismissed people's concerns," said Jobs with Justice spokeswoman Ori Korin. "As someone who has been on the side working people before, we would have hoped he would have thought twice about working for a company that is notorious for not treating its workers well."

The "mainstream media" likes to claim it's a reliable news source. They further contrast themselves with mere blogs, which lard posts with opinion and misrepresented facts mustered to establish a political point rather than something resembling the straight truth.

Oh?

Is that what us bloggers do now, eh?

Here, Cavuto shows an excerpt from the ad, and discusses it with Mike Rowe.

Mike Rowe's sin seems to be that he does more than talk -- he gets results -- and thus embarrasses the left as impotent whiners who have nothing to contribute but carping.

Corrected: I initially misunderstood and wrote that Walmart planned to "invest" in American manufacturing. They're actually pledging to buy $250 billion in American-manufactured products.

6 I'm so glad you did a post about this. Mike Rowe is a prime example of the sort of pop culture thing to which we should pay attention and try to make inroads. I have no illusions about him being a "conservative," but he's an eloquent principled high profile guy who is willing to engage with "us," so very valuable thing to cultivate, imho.

8 He dismissed people's concerns," said Jobs with Justice spokeswoman Ori Korin. "As someone who has been on the side working people before, we would have hoped he would have thought twice about working for a company that is notorious for not treating its workers well." SAYS WHO, that Walmart doesn't treat it's workers well? Jobs with Justice? the crazy leftniks? If these people were finally cut off from welfare, food stamps, Medicaid, gov. grants, etc. that enable them to wander around protesting companies like Walmart under the guise of a group named "Jobs for Justice", they would be begging to work at Walmart.

10 Yay!  Home early from jury duty!  And Mike Rowe rocks!  I may actually become a fan of China-Mart again, if they follow through and actually invest the money they claim.  As it is, they have become a convenience more than a preferred place to shop for me.  Then again, I remember back when Sam was alive and running the show, and they extensively touted "Made in America" products that they carried.

50 The professional left had gotten their Two Minutes Hate on for Rowe long before he became involved with the Wal-Mart matter.

Why? Because Rowe summed up Obama administration education policy by saying, "We're lending money we don't have to kids who can't pay it back to train them for jobs that no longer exist."

And you're just not allowed to say those kinds of things about the Most Smarterest Man Ever To Have Been President.

51 we would have hoped he would have thought twice about working for a company that is notorious for not treating its workers well This drives me MAD. "notorious" why? Because shit-heads like this member of the female gender "say so." Walmart is far nicer than it has to be to its employees, and a far better employer than, say, Kroger or Target (according to people I've known who have worked at at least two of the three places). Are there some bad apples in management? Yes. The majority? Not by a long shot. Most workers who complain about Walmart are either a) bad apples themselves or b) paid shills for the Unions. Sometimes they're both. Walmart pays decent wages for the work provided. They provide pretty decent benefits including paid time off and insurance. They place a real focus on "hiring from within" and have generous benefits for any employee who wishes to further his or her education. Leftists hate Walmart because they don't want what Walmart represents- a world where people can make themselves better without government assistance.

But they make money and they're a corporation so they're evil. Oh, and poor people shop there, and sometimes they build them near neighborhoods that don't want to see "those people." 82 Good for Rove. The problem is that the neutering of manufacturing (dating back to Bill Clinton and Nancy Pelosi) -- which at one time employed about 33% of the workforce -- is viewed by those on the left as a good thing. Because some people got wealthy. Can't have that happen. If Walmart comes through on its promise some people might get wealthy in the process. Lately, the left has taken to neutering health care -- which is about 12% of the economy. The left views this as a good thing. I can't help but wonder if the left will look at the 10% of the economy that the 'lawyering' industry generates with as much interest.

If we on the left were to organize Walmart in a proper manner we would require that anyone who wants to buy something be required to buy a "basic" package of goods in order to get what they want.  So if you come in looking for, say, a toothbrush, we would like a law that says we can make you buy a bedroom set and some paper plates too.

The left does these things better.

8: "SAYS WHO, that Walmart doesn't treat it's workers well? Jobs with Justice? the crazy leftniks?"

My mom. She worked for Walmart for around 8 years. Her workloads and shift schedules were chaotic and abusive. Turnover was a real problem, and the store couldn't keep assistant managers. The only problem for my mom is that at her age, no one would hire her but Walmart. It wasn't until her health started failing due to the stress and workload that she had to quit.

But this is an issue of really bad management. Walmart isn't any more evil than every other business out there. It's just being mismanaged into the ground. And these management trends are regional. One regional manager may have his shit together, while the next is a total fuckup.

Almost all of these things will be transparent to customers however, with the exception of the noticeable deterioration in store cleanliness and poor customer service.

Most of these protesters are full of shit. But anyone who thinks Walmart is a good, or even tolerable place to work, should give it a try for a year or two. You know, that whole walk a mile thing...

Having family who has worked for both of these companies (wife and mom), I think Target gets away with lower wages because they tend to (on a store by store basis) treat their employees better. There is also less turnover at Target.

125 >that is notorious for not treating its workers well."

I think that is really just a marketing blunder for Walmart. If Walmart simply rebranded as a "Retail Customer Service University"

1. Unskilled or Low Skilled employees become, "Undergraduates"
2. Skilled employees become "Graduate Students"
3. Managers become "Professors"

Then no one cares how badly you treat them, how few benefits there are, how much regimentation to the group message and limits expression there is, how stringent the attendance or hours requirements are, or how little you pay them, in fact, you could make group 1 pay you just to be there.

You see that's the rub isn't it? You are high school educated *nobody* and the same intelligensia that derides Walmart will stand up for bilking of you by the University System because you are no one, and they are "helping" you become someone by granting you a degree. So therefore the abuses are justified. But Walmart who is doing the exact same thing, (Taking the unskilled, and providing them with experience, training, and a permanent means to make a living in the retail service industry) and are derided because they wish to PAY bottom dollar for the unskilled. Whereas the University paying bottom dollar for the skilled (Graduate students) and next to nothing for unskilled (Undergraduate students) is just shined on as a toll for the benefit the University provides.

131 Posted by: Azenogoth (Freedom or Fire) at February 25, 2014 01:46 PM (f6ZLT) Actually, those sound like District problems, not Region (unless Walmart switched the definitions of those terms). And, for that matter, one of the tells in the industry is "flexible schedule." What that really means (and literally every major retailer/grocer does it) is "you'll work when we tell you to work. Schedules happen to the Managers." That's no different than a Target, or a K-Mart (yes, some still exist), or a Kroger, or an Albertsons, or (for that matter) a Burger King, McDonalds, or Jack-in-the-Box. And, in my experience, every low-end job sucks. Management are always stupid (this can apply to direct management, corporate management, or both), hours are always terrible, pay is always too low, etc. One of an hourly worker's perks is to bitch about their job. So, if *that's* what makes Walmart so bad, why do they get all the hate, instead of Target, or Burger King, or whoever?

144 "But they make money and they're a corporation so they're evil. Oh, and poor people shop there, and sometimes they build them near neighborhoods that don't want to see 'those people.' So they're evil."

FFS, even Trader Joe's has gotten hit with the "not in this neighborhood" nonsense.

Up in Portland, in a not so great neighborhood, Trader Joe's proposed to build a store on a vacant lot.

Then the local lefties went apeshit. Why, it could lead to "gentrification"! As though neighborhoods becoming safer, cleaner and more prosperous is a bad thing, eh?

And the race hustlers got in the loop. Why, it's unthinkable to allow this without mandatory set-asides and thinly disguised bribes for African-Americans at every step of the way, and we'll throw sand in the gears till we get that!

Then the ecoholics started to whine. Why, the pristine environment of the vacant lot will be negatively affected! Also, people might DRIVE CARS to come shop there. Can't have that!

Finally, Joe's corporate just said, "Fuck this. We're out. We go where we're wanted and we're obviously not wanted here." So, a couple of million bucks in expansion spending got directed to another city.

Then all of the above took them to task for leaving! Upbraided them for a "lack of sensitivity to concerns".

Can't win, can't break even, can't quit the game: that's how it feels trying to do even the simplest things anywhere around the professional left.

158 Hmm, that's funny, because Target is also a non-union bigboxcompany. Yet they don't get nearly as many protests as Walmart. I'm sure it hasn't a thing to do with Target Corp.'s history of donating to politicians with (D) behind their name and having a HQ located in MN as opposed to Arkansas.

Well, don't I feel stupid!  They must have been talking about wanting the Unionization of Target.

163 I work at Wal-Mart. It's certainly not the most glamorous or high-paying job out there, but I earn a competitive wage for my qualifications. I also get 3 weeks of paid vacation each year, plus paid sick days and personal time. I get insurance, and I have a 401k that Wal-Mart will match my contributions to up to a certain point. They will also match my stock purchases up to a certain point. And I'm eligible for quarterly profit-sharing bonuses. I don't really feel exploited by my employer, and I don't hear many of my coworkers say they do either. And, working in the hardware department, I also get to tell lots of Democrat voters why they can't buy boxes of 4 incandescent light bulbs for $1 anymore.

165 Coming from a background in American manufacturing, with decades of experience dealing with foreign manufacturing, I am confident in saying what is needed to solve our problem is a massive government program. If we want a thriving manufacturing sector, full employment and continued growth, we need the U.S. government to immediately start to build 500 identical nuclear reactors, providing free power to companies who would distribute it for a small fee. Due to unique nature of nuclear power, only the government can deal with the siting, deregulation, liabilities, waste and other factors. Base industries, steel, aluminum, copper, etc. and first tier manufacturing relies on cheap energy far more than an wage differential. Instead of increasing Social Security, give seniors free electricity. Give everyone free electricity. Civilization advances in direct proportion to the quantity of cheap power.

169 I never understood the hate for Walmart.  My father ran a small business for 50 years and I ran one for 15 --- before I saw the shitstorm that is Obama coming and got out while I still could.  Walmart made it possible for our employees to have a decent standard of living since we were never able to pay all that much.

BTW, you really can't compete with them for labor.  They have good benefits that are difficult to match.  When they were starting up they had good stock plans where their employees could buy in and lots of people did very well from that.  But then elitists wouldn't feel as elite if they couldn't look down on the proles.  They claim to admire the working class, but they sneer at all of the institutions that make it possible for them to survive.

Bastards, the lot of them.

171 She worked for Walmart for around 8 years. Her workloads and shift schedules were chaotic and abusive.Turnover was a real problem, and the store couldn't keep assistant managers. Stores like Walmart know the cause of their turnover. It is scheduling, pure and simple. They call it 'flexible' -- which means the employee has to be flexible. From week to week the schedule of days and weekends worked is constantly changing. It is the number one cause of voluntary terminations (take this job and shove it). The answer is to hire more workers and fix a permanent work schedule (like Monday to Friday) for workers with greater seniority. But they don't do that, because bottom line.

196 I have a long history of hating on Wal*mart, mostly because I don't like their business practices, but this is absolutely something I can get on board with. I've been at odds with conservatives over this for a long time, and it's not just a problem that Wal*mart has, but it really boils down to our way of life. We want the cheap TV's and lawn mowers, and the reality is there are consequences to those cheap tv's and lawn mowers, and that is by and large outsourcing and exploitation of foreign workers, and loss of manufacturing capacity and jobs for us back home. Snapper famously refused to do business with Wal*mart because they wouldn't compromise on quality to offer a $99 lawn mower. They knew it was a slippery slop that would result in closing their assembly lines in the US, and a shift in production to Mexico, or Asia somewhere. Any sincere effort by Wal*mart or anyone to reverse that should be welcomed. I've very much admired Mike Rowe's initiatives for some time. There has been a catastrophic drop in skilled labor, I think in large part because it's looked down upon, and the focus is that all kids should go to college. That is nonsense, and there is nothing wrong with meaningful, fullfilling trade work. That is what his foundation is all about. Not everyone is going to be the white collar executive pulling in the big bucks, but that's what we sell our kids as they are going through school. So Bravo to Mike Rowe, and a gold star to Wal*mart.

I'm not up on the distinction between district and regional management for the company. So my definition may be incorrect.

But there is a noticeable difference in stores. Seguin and New Braunfels are total shitholes, from both the customer and employee perspectives, while the Garden Ridge store seems well run. Not sure how those lines are drawn.

I will however take issue with trying to minimize any complaint as the usual grumbling of employees. My mom is tougher than a lot of SOF grunts. She's worked with hands broken by horses, cracks in the bones of her feet, and worse. None of those things could make her tap.

I know nothing is meant by the usual quips, but after seeing what this place did to my mom and others in the area, this is just one of those things that pisses a mug off. Especially since it is so needless. The company would actually generate more profits if they would quit this shit. The shortsightedness is dumbfounding.

230 We used to have a place called Spag's in Shrewsbury MA that served as a sort of WalMart for generations. One of those huge, sprawling, sells everything kind of places. Reading their Sunday newspaper ads was first priority upon picking up my bundle of papers for delivery. By the time I was done with my route, I knew exactly which fishing gear/Atari games/sports equipment I was going to be buying on the way home from the Grandparents after Sunday dinner.

258 FFS, even Trader Joe's has gotten hit with the "not in this neighborhood" nonsense. Posted by: torquewrench Similar situation happened in Berkeley, but in this case Trader Joe's caved into to the progressive demands, and got their store built. Setting the scene: Berkeley. One of the very few strip malls in the entire city. Very small, had only 4 tenants -- all closed up shop and left. Vacant. Ugly. But on a potentially prime retail corner near downtown. Trader Joe's said -- Hey, you hippies would love a TJ's there! Let's build a store on that site! Yay! Not so fast. The city government and the local progressive fascists heaped insane demands on TJ's to get a building permit. First up: BUT WHAT ABOUT THE POOR???!?!???? To get our permission to build a TJ's there, you must make the building 5 stories high and be filled with LOW-INCOME HOUSING that YOU, TJ's, must subsidize. Next: CARS ARE EVIL! And THERE'S NOWHERE TO PARK MY VOLVO ALREADY. Solution: TJ's must excavate and construct a large underground parking lot to accommodate all cars, so we don't have to see and acknowledge that they exist and that we drove them here. Next: TRAFFIC IS EVIL. So let's demand that the surrounding streets be all blocked off and converted to one-way and all sorts of other kookiness because city planning and community. Then the NIMBY's had their turn: YOU ARE A BUM MAGNET, what with your dumpsters filled with tasty and tempting discarded expired food and all. Demand: All dumpsters must padlocked and also secured indoors because secure gates. Then came MINORITY EMPLOYMENT and MINIMUM WAGE REQUIREMENTS and on and on. Etc. etc. etc. At huge expense, TJ's caved and satisfied all demands. Guess what? it paid off. That new TJ's is PACKED constantly with the same people shopping there that had tried to stop it.

260 The US still manufactures a LOT of things. You would be surprised by the wide variety of things that are still manufactured here. Don't believe the hype about everything being outsourced. It is just not true. By the same token manufacturing employment (total number of people employed) -- last time I checked -- was at the same level as the 1930's 'Great Depression'. Just a guess, but I'd venture we were a nation of about 125 million then, and about 315 million now. Some of the 'failure to thrive' is due to increases in productivity, robotics, etc. but not all. The biggest shock was when Clinton/Pelosi pushed for China to receive 'permanent' most favored trade status. Last time I checked, years ago, 57,000 American factories had closed their doors in the 10 years after the ink dried on that one-sided 'deal'.

And, yes, Walmart has lost suppliers and contractors for just that reason. They may be the 800lb gorilla, but they're not the Government. Also forcing suppliers to RFID things was a dick move. It was "a dick move" which saved the suppliers AND Walmart's competitors money. So you'll excuse me if I don't much care that it was "a dick move," given the positive effects its had in the economy (see my previous point re: if the 'requirements' are really costing more than the contract is worth).

290 "F*ck your concerns" should be the new reply to all leftard concerns. I was listening to Hannitty briefly yesterday and he more or less politely did this with a caller. It was a seminar caller basically calling those who are against Obamacare "bad Americans", etc. Hannitty went over his roster of Obama's lies on Ocare. And the guy started whining that he wanted a discussion of his beliefs and concerns. Hannitty repeated the Ocare lies, then basically told him to eff off. I was surprised because Hannitty thrives on this kind of argument. But, I guess even he's realized there's no longer any point to pretending that these clowns have a true belief system other than they should get your money and control you. Ridicule and F*ck your concerns. are my new default position. I don't care about their widdle feewings any more. (Previously, it was just ridicule.)

Even oursourcing to china, Huffy couldn't make a profit on the bikes relative to what Walmart wanted to pay, so instead they went broke.

But there are also costs associated with this, and on a philosophical level, it's difficult to justify spending extra money (in a losing battle most likely), to keep the US factories humming. My belief is that it's a lot of out of site out of mind type stuff going on. Yes I spent less for my mexican levi's and chinese television, and now I have more money to spend on a fancy vacation. This seems like a good thing, but hidden away, there is an effect that is maybe not so good. I have always been bad at articulating this, I am absolutely a 100% free market capitalist, but I have been called a commie for trying to convey the idea that businesses should restrain themselves, for the long term health of the communities they serve (restrain themsevles is the key, I want nothing to do with govt. intervention), the problem if you say, "hey I will sell the jean for $5 more a pair so the factory in the next state doesn't get mothballed and production goes to china", the store across the interstate will go ahead and do it anyway, so you lose business, the factory closes anyway, and you have accomplished nothing. As I said more a philosophical complaint than anything, I do admire the companies that say no though, like Snapper. I couldn't wait to go buy a snapper mower when I bought my first house.

297 204 I was thirty years old before I ever stepped foot in a WalMart. They just didn't exist in my part of Massachusetts. Some girl at college in Ohio accused me of being a liar and a snob for saying that I'd never been in a Wal-Mart back in 1989. I was like, WTF are you talking about? I'd been inside a KMart, but that wasn't good enough. Posted by: Lincolntf Many Americans who live in "Walmart country" don't realize that Walmart is not everywhere. There are large Walmart-free zones in various parts of the country. I somehow lived my life without ever passing through Walmart-space. Not just the regions of the country, but the areas and neighborhoods within each city or region. It's possible. I did it without even realizing that I was leading a Walmart-avoidant lifestyle. To be completely frank, I was so unfamiliar with Walmart until the recent leftist conspiracy theories about them of the last decade that I got confused about the difference, if any, between Walgreen's Wall Drug, and Walmart. Seriously. I somehow vaguely knew the name but lazily assumed that there was a store that started as a local drugstore in South Dakota, got big and famous, became a national chain which they dubbed Walgreen's, and then branched out to general retail with a sub-chain called Walmart. All of this taking place in Flyover Country, which I never visit, and which therefore is of little concern to me. Yes, I was that provincial.

Whatever happened to Burger King?

The Whopper used to be pretty good, then it turned to shit.

Microwaves.  Remember "flame broiled is better than fried"?   Well, it is.  The BKs of my yute had conveyor belt grills that went over flames and popped out tasty burgers.  You had to wait a little to get your Whopper sometimes because they had to flame thrower it.

These days, if they still flame broil them at all it must be at a facility in Kansas, whence they ship them to your local BK to be nuked to order.

The whole world is going to shit.

305 I have a K-Mart not too far from me either, and it is pretty much about as you describe it. I remember as a teenybopper finding my local K-Mart to actually have some cool stuff. It has fallen so far(I think they have been in Chpt.11 once or twice) and they are truly awful now. Weren't they owned by Sears at one time and then spun off, to die a long, lingering death?

There is a functioning K-Mart literally three blocks away from where I live.    We go there for convenience shopping, like.... "making omelettes and... dammit... Im out of cheese" situations.

There is never a wait.... cuz nobody shops there.   I dont know how it stays open.

307 I worked at a Caldor in New Yuck.

When all the discussion is about how evil a company is to  its employees I think of Caldor. No they weren't a great place to work but the store I was at was being murdered by the employees. Security once gathered all the opened packages which had been emptied by employees in a storage area and left the pile there for all to see. It was a pile the size of a standard kiddie pool and about 6 inches deep.

Meanwhile I was doing in an 8 hour shift what the company had listed as a separate full time and  a part time job. Not because I am superman but because what they expected out of unionized New Yuckers was so pitiful. Most of the rest were not finishing even the little that was expected of them during their shifts.

There are none in the NYC area that I know of; just getting a Target store in the area was, for the NYC libs, tantamount to murdering the spirit of the city. Never mind they help low income ppl get decent goods at low prices. There are Targets in the Bronx and in Harlem, that I know of, not sure if any others were permitted to be built.

315 So employees were just stealing stuff and leaving the packaging behind? Nice. I worked with a guy who stole from the grocery store we tended to the Produce at, hated him. Never turned him in, we were 17, but I went out of my way to call him a thief whenever we were outside of work, and made it harder for him to get away with it while we were at work. He would do shit to distract a manager, like rip open a packaged fruit plate so he'd have to go back and rewrap it, I'd jump in and offer to wrap it myself, fouling his opportunity for whatever petty theft he had planned.

316 The 'signaling' of saying 'we are going to buy American products' provides an incentive for manufactures to invest in their facilities.  Unfortunately, with effective corporate tax rates around 30%, the US is still uncompetitive from a capital investment standpoint.  Lower it to 15% and watch the manufacturing job market spring to life....

317 Well Lincoln I didn't get the chance to foil any of the thieve but I did get accused of being a "cop" since I was of a paler shade than the majority of my coworkers.

Most of the people there had other jobs but were there for a little pocket money. There was one older guy that I really liked who owned a restaurant. When he stopped coming to work I asked what happened? He was caught stealing. I felt really stupid because I had spoken with him about how I couldn't understand all the theft and why people risked getting caught just to add a few dollars to what they already where being paid.

321 The closest Walmart to NYC is in White Plains, in an old Sears store, across from the City Center Mall. Its a pit. There's some Targets in Brooklyn and Queens too. I like the story about the Walmart that opened up a block outside of Chicago's city limits because the libs wouldn't let them in the city. They had 100x the applicants for jobs openings.

I am late to this thread and I bet this will not get read but I am confused and I just want the TRUTH. This quote comes from a Blaze article written BEFORE the CBS article and in fact is linked to in the CBS article

from here

http://tinyurl.com/klawrka

Sounds pretty straightforward, right? Well, not according to some people who reached out to Rowe. And in what we’ve come to expect from the former “Dirty Jobs” host and hard-work heralder, he didn’t sit back and take it. He took to his Facebook page Sunday with a lengthy, Q&A-style response.

“Honestly Kevin, who gives a crap about your feelings toward Walmart?” Rowe asked one man who questioned Rowe’s decision to partner with Walmart, often a major target of those who like to demonize business

So it looks like CBS was correct.

ace can you respond?

Posted by: anon at February 25, 2014 01:55 PM (DEsFp)

334 @333: Anon, did you notice that The Blaze put the whole quote up there?

Posted by: NR Pax at February 25, 2014 02:25 PM (oDCMR)

335

Yes, and that quote is what Aimee used, and she was correct.  She said

". Rowe then threw a bucket of fuel on the fire by writing on his Facebook page in response to one consumer, "Who gives a crap about your feelings toward Walmart?""

and that is accurate according to Rowe himself on the first Blaze article, then he reverses himself.
