Milestone: After Months of Faking and Hiding Numbers, Obama Administration Celebrates Its Proudest Moment in Fake Obamacare Numbers
— Ace

This is the pinnacle.

Celebrating Another Phony Obamacare Milestone

By David Hogberg

This week, the Department of Health and Human Services reported that enrollment in the ObamaCare exchanges had reached 6 million.

...

There are still plenty of things we don’t know about enrollment, which makes today’s announcement highly suspect. The most important question is: how many people have not paid their first premium? The New York Times reports that number may be as high as 20 percent. If so, then true enrollment would be closer to 4.8 million. This matters if for no other reason than it allows the Administration to claim success. If the true number is 6 million, then Administration lackeys will say, “Hey, look how close we got to 7 million.” However, if it’s under 5 million, they won’t have much to cheer about. Indeed, it’s fodder for critics. Although it’s pretty clear that the Administration has this information, don’t count on them releasing it, especially if it isn’t good. Rather, will have to wait until insurers start releasing their numbers.

Another important matter we donÂ’t know is how many persons who were previously uninsured have signed up on the exchanges. Estimates vary from 10 percent to 35 percent. If we assume that there are 6 million enrollees (based on the previous paragraph, thatÂ’s a very generous assumption), then the number of uninsured who now have coverage via the exchanges ranges from 600,000 to 2.1 million.

Actually, depending on how many of those who had their insurance cancelled choose to now remain uninsured, Hogberg figures Obamacare could actually be a "wash" -- net zero -- as far providing coverage to the population. If those who had insurance, and who are now going without, equal that number the uninsured now insured (or "insured"), then Obamacare would have had a net zero impact on the population of the insured.

Except, of course, for creating a constituency of dependents for Obama.

Just a lesson for all of you:

With hard work, with grit and guts: you too can fake great things. All it takes is a bit of brio, a pliant media, and an HHS Secretary who doesn't know any of the numbers except the ones she's come to advertise.

Nope. Per:

The numbers also don't include individuals who have enrolled in Medicaid, which was expanded in many states to individuals who earn up to 133 percent of the poverty level. They also don't count those who have purchased insurance directly from a private insurance company but will be included in the overall risk pool.

Cost her $43/mo at first; after Obama insisted she pay for things she doesn't want, it went up to $72. Still, it was what a young, healthy girl needed as INSURANCE against catastrophe. She could borrow/negotiate up to $10K, if disaster struck. Obamacare would cost her $178/mo. with a $3000 deductible. The lower deductible means NOTHING to her since her routine out-of-pocket expenses are under $500. Screw that. She WILL NOT buy it.

"1 BILLION JOBS created since Lincoln's Assassination! " Second of all, let's look at those numbers, shall we? 8.5 million jobs added since ACA was enacted? Google tells me it was signed on March 23, 2010. So let's toss out a few days and say it's been exactly 4 years. 96 months. 8.5 million/96 = 88,541 jobs added per month. On average we need at least 100K jobs/month to keep up with population growth. So, since Obamacare was signed, the economy has actually lost 1,100,064 jobs. Thanks, Obama!

192 The numbers also don't include individuals who have enrolled in Medicaid, which was expanded in many states to individuals who earn up to 133 percent of the poverty level. They also don't count those who have purchased insurance directly from a private insurance company but will be included in the overall risk pool. Again, I don't think these numbers include anything because they are simply made up. They don't know.

I remember Fred Thompson and Ron Paul each denouncing the greatest profits from frauds (prior to ME interventionist wars) resulting from MediCare fraud -- the most lucrative business in America. In reference to cultural corruption, the straw breaking the camel's back wasn't sexual perversity that turned Sodom/Gomorrah into ash, but that the inhabitants broke the law of God to care for the widows, orphans and lame ignited their self destruction. Furthermore, I doubt they were into wholesale abortions, government sponsored via MANDATE that all participate, like it or not.

Scarlett Johansson said Paltrow wouldn't speak to her the whole time Iron Man 2 was shooting, which hurt Johansson's feelings somewhat since she wanted to tell Paltrow how much she admired her work.  I'm guessing Johansson was snubbed because Paltrow doesn't like to be around someone more talented and beautiful than she is.

303 Take the opportunity of Obamacare's total fuck up to make a deal beneficial to the conservative side of doing things. Trade universal single-payer catastrophic care for a free market, less regulated everyday health system. Most people here will never use the catastrophic system while under private insurance. The vast majority of people receiving catastrophic care are elderly under Medicare. The next largest group are the poor under Medicaid. Then the VA. Only a tiny proportion of people end up getting catastrophic care under private insurance. That's why catastrophic policies were cheap. Give the liberals their Holy Grail by simply adding the balance of people into the Medicare system. Let everyone buy policies if they want to cover anything above and beyond what Medicare (the death panels) will cover. As far as everyday medical care, it's all cash. Swipe your HSA debit card when you receive treatment. Subsidized HSAs for the poor, but tied into their other benefits so that they have an incentive to use it sparingly. Sure, it would be great to make everything free market, pure capitalism, totally individual based, but sometimes it's better to make a deal and get something done.

Samaritan and Christian Medishare ask that you agree to their statement of faith which is pretty generic, but may be an issue. We couldn't do either of those because we're Oneness Pentecostals and they're explicit about the Trinity. I don't know enough about Mormonism to say if it would be a problem for you though.

357 Responding to a threat that the "House of Cards" television series may leave Maryland if it doesn't get more tax credits, the House of Delegates adopted budget language Thursday requiring the state to seize the production company's property if it stops filming in the state.

Media Rights Capital, the Beverly Hills, Calif., company producing the popular Netflix show, wrote Gov. Martin O'Malley that it was putting off work on its third season until it could be assured that sufficient tax credits would be approved. If those weren't forthcoming, it said it would break down its film stage and move it to another state.

Del. William Frick, a Montgomery County Democrat, proposed the provision, which orders the state to use the right of eminent domain to buy or condemn the property of any company that has claimed $10 million or more credits against the state income tax. The provision would appear to apply only to the Netflix series, which has gotten the bulk of the state credits.

359 Another key number to factor is who just paid 1 or 2 month's of premium's, then dropped insurance. The "net" ACA enrollments must always factor those who drop insurance. After a few trips to the Dr, some prescriptions and a deductible or out of pocket cost triggers a personal assessment of "keeping insurance" "What, a $4,000 bill and I still don't have insurance kicking in"... yep - that just wiped out 6-8 month's of premiums to be paid.

360 Got a great deal on the exchange!!! $325/mo premium - but I only have to pay something like $25/mo - the government picks up the rest - AND they gave me something called a $6,000 'deductible', which I figure I can use to buy a pretty good high-end entertainment center

and, then, there's Megan McArdle's take at Bloomberg.   She tried to guestimate the number of previously uninsured who signed up for O'Care and didn't end up in Medicaid  (which totally seems like cheating if we are talking about "insurance", whaever the fuck that is now).

Anyway  Megan said she truly wouldn't be able to get a handle on the number until the next census came out but she's pretty sure it's a small number,  relative to the incredible inconvenience we are all living through, not to mention personal disasters and even deaths that happen  as the Workers Soviet in Washington  tries  to  figure  out  how  a  command  economy  works.

My guess is something like 1 million people.  I pick that number as the number of previously uninsured who are actually helped by the nationalization effort.
