Obama's Disapproval Hits New High, 59%, in New AP-GfK Poll
— Ace

Tasty.

Full poll data here.

Some points: His approval is 41%. Usually you don't get these numbers adding up to 100%, but here you do (59% + 41%). In addition, they say 1% are undecided.

Of the 59% who disapprove of Obama, 36% strongly disapprove.

On the other hand, his positive rating, such as it is, has fewer people strongly approving of him -- only 14%.

He's also underwater on personal favorability, 42% favorable, 51% unfavorable.

Another poll, the Morning Consult, which is a health care tracking poll, finds that undecided voters are slightly opposed to Obamacare... and when I say "slightly," I mean they oppose Obamacare more than they support it by a whopping 40% margin.

Among those who describe themselves as likely but undecided 2014 voters, Obamacare approval sits at a robust (25/65) ...

Overall, likely voters oppose Obamacare by 53 to 41.

It's a two-edged sword, though, this "40% underwater on Obamacare among the undecideds" stat.

If so many of them disapprove of Obamacare -- 65% disapprove, to only 25% approving -- what the hell makes them undecided as to which party they'll be voting for in November?

It's could that they disapprove of Obamacare but don't really care all that much about it, in the same way that your neighbor may disapprove of the way the zoning commission is treating you but he's also not going to lose sleep over it. It's not his problem. And a large chunk of the population may see Obamacare as a problem, but a problem, so far, affecting only other people -- people with employee health care plans may not have yet heard that Obamacare is gunning for them, too.

Of course that might be because Obama has delayed various parts of the law that affect those with employer-provided insurance, until after the elections, at least.

It could also be that people just don't like the GOP for other reasons.

61 ace,

Some of the disapproval on ObamaCare could be attributed to some people wanting it to do more, or the fact that Obama has essentially gutted it until after the elections.

The polls need to ask in regards to ObamaCare - repeal/replace, fix, or leave/implement.  But outside of Rass I don't see polster doing that.

I had an epiphany the other day which explains almost all the Democrats actions:  They want to do to ALL Americans, what they've done to Black Americans.

Once I realized that, their opposition to school choice (keep them uneducated) and being so proud of having 26 year olds on their parents insurance (encouraging dependance) makes perfect sense.

They cannot physically enslave us, but try to make us so dependent on the Gov, that there's not much difference.

And I really don't believe the gop wants or is capable of using obamacare to win control of the senate. And even if they do somehow gain control what is their agenda going to be, comprehensive immigration reform seems to be at the top of their agenda.

109 Still that high? This is a good lesson for Republican presidents. Even at his nadir, Bush COULD have still has an approval rating at 40% (and mitigated Republican losses) if he had dogmatically stuck to conservative principles 100% of the time like Obama has with left-wing principles. Actually his approval would have been much higher but that's neither here nor there. Instead he got wishy washy, he tried to move to the center, he tried to make everyone happy and he ended up with an approval rating in the 20s. Obama's approval will never drop that low because he has marched lock-step with his leftist base. "You dances with who brung you."

<Obama's myriad failures in text stories in the background>

<New voice over> Our president has failed us. His policies have failed, as has the test of the content of his character. He made us promises he never meant to keep and we are all paying for those falsehoods.

The president's allies will tell you that if you judge Obama by his failures, and not the color of his skin, you are a racist.

The question is, will you Barack and his allies to bully you, or will you stand with MLK jr's dream? In America we should judge men and women by the content of their character and not the color of their skin.

CBD, I get what you're saying about polls and fund-raising, but my observation is not about electoral results, but the frayed connection between those results and actual governance outcomes.  As in - a GOP Senate, an augmented House majority, may well yield ..... zip, bupkis.

At this close range, and things ongoing, very hard to sort out the causes and effects here.  We have a very weak opposition party, a self-sustaining rapacious political "elite" + public sector (to include the state/local and law enforcement joe schmoes), an ignorant/misguided/racist/delusional majority in the electorate, and nearly collapsed institutions (lawless rogue judiciary, extremist fascist academy, corrupted/arrogant science, even a military with mostly compromised miniature time-serving "leadership").  Chicken and egg, which came first, who knows.  They have a synergy now that I don't see being broken.

Certainly not by a few elections and rotated committee chairmanships.

275 Bourbon? Blanton's. I don't drink much so a bottle lasts a long time. That's how I justify a bit over $50 a bottle.

276 I think you got it right in the last part Ace. Most people loony like Obama but even more dislike the GOP

277 President Choad-Load DOES NOT CARE about poll numbers.

Anyone who does not agree with him is wrong, and therefore of NO interest. You are either 'human' or a 'subhuman ape' period.

Ironic, no?

278 people dont like the GOP for several reasons; for people that should naturally oppose the democong, there are the following reasons: -the GOP doesnt use the tools it has (impeachment, House control of the purse strings, etc) to stop or punish the democong. When voter precints come in at 103% participation and 100% of the vote for oblahblah, the GOP didnt even bother contesting the validity of the election. When democong -supporting government employees sabotage the military vote, the GOP does nothing -the GOP does not confront the media as the democong-cheerleading liars they are -the leadership of the GOP has a ho-hum business(kickback)-as-usual approach to the problems confronting the nation -the leadership of the GOP has taken a public stand against supporters of lower taxes/lower spending and take part in the same democong propaganda campaign against the Tea Party and it's variances -there are always enough members of the GOP to go quisling and advance the democong agenda; it could even be argued they take turns subverting the nation, one issue at a time -the GOP does not clean up democong pollution of national institutions in education or any of the Federal burrocracies, even when they are in a position to do so -the GOP does not confront democong agitprop at any time; the best example would be in the Zimmerman case, in which the full brunt of the democong hate machine - media, prosecution, and political -was brought to bear on a single American citizen. Even though Zimmerman was a registered democrat, the GOP had many examples of democong dishonesty and corruption to politicize. I don't recall a single member of the GOP publicly supporting Zimmerman. This was a prime case for illustrating the democong pollution of our institutions and the coordination in which they attack. I dont particularly care why the GOP does nothing; you could make the case for corruption, consporacy, cowardice, or incompetence each in it's own turn. The point is that they DO NOTHING. Until that is resolved and they actually take an effective stand against democong treason with the tools they have on hand, then there is no reason to trust them or support them.

281 More racist hate for our wise President. Propaganda funded by the Koch brothers and pushed through right-wing outlets poisons minds against our correctly-thinking progressive leadership that would otherwise be leading us FORWARD! into the future!

282 As my old drill sarge would have said, my personal approval rating for Obama has always been lower than whale shit on the bottom of the ocean; in fact, let's make that sperm whale shit on the bottom of the Marianas Trench.
